I had a mk4 jetta with the 2.slow (2.0L I4 producing 100hp) for 2.5 years. Finally, about 2 months ago, when that had major electrical issues, I bought a mk6 golf with the 2.5. I have to say that it's 170hp makes it feel terribly fast after my previous car, yet I can understand when other people say it's slow. It just barely beat my friends stock chevy 5.3 half ton so ya it's not fast but it's sure a ton better than what I used to drive. My brother has the same car as me but with the tdi and I am SO glad I didn't end up with that engine. Less power yet, more expensive to maintain, and very much the same in every other way.

No it’s not bad the cold air in thru the plastic engine cover cools the top of the engine and dissipates the heat from the top of the engine without it the heat coming off the engine just sits there on top of the motor and could over heat electrical components such as the cvt sensor and solenoid. That’s the correct way it was engineered and it was engineered that way for that specific reason it takes cold air directly from outside the engine bay that while traveling cold air is sucked in directly from outside the engine bay and into the plastic engine cover dissipating the heat coming from the top of the motor. However if you missing cold air induction pieces already then this would be a good way to feed the motor cold air from outside the engine bay, so it’s a good idea for your situation but it still first do anything about dissipating the hot air coming off the top of the motor. Hopefully this won’t cause you any issues with any of your vehicles components on the top of the motor. This exits heat could also prematurely ruin your vehicles rubber pcv diaphragm which usually goes out anyway. lol.

Here in 2024 and this video is clutch, just got both mufflers deleted but the low end drone is insane.. I have usp dwnpipe and usp intake in garage just waiting (2013 2.5 se jetta 108k miles)

These things are bullet proof. 235k on mine all original. It’s been through many camping trips, desert trips, I’ve taken it on trails that only trucks are supposed to go through😂. It’s been cross country. To work and back. Even hit a raccoon in the Midwest that had to have the front end replaced. But this thing just won’t die.

Was thinking about buying this air intake you used in the video I'm pretty new to cars and I'm not sure if putting it in the automatic 2.5 SEL would cause problems because the USP website says the fitments are for manual transmission but I'm not sure anything helps thank you.

Hey sorry one more question, do you have the part number for the coil over kit you are using ?

I just picked up a manual 12’ 2.5 SE sedan. Its a little rough with some rust and 121k but so far its been a cool car to learn to drive manual on. The only issue ive had so far is that the epc light comes on after I rev to 4k or higher each and every time i drive it. The CEL never comes on and when it did, I replaced the parts and fixed those issues, but the epc still comes on. Any advice on a scan tool or should I give up and bring it to a dealer/shop? Ive replaced the MAP, the Evap solenoid, and the PCV valve.

The second intake hose for the cat, I have one. Where do I find the right filter to go on the end of it can’t seem to find one that fits in any auto part stores

Glad to see that you picked up a realizable cruiser, and the same year the legendary 5cyl received the 20HP increase. I have owned a high mileage 2011 and recently a low mileage 2014 wagon in 2.5L. ( in 2011 they increased the MPG by a few) . It checks enough boxes , is practical enough and not boring to drive. Isn't it strange how the 5cyl grows on you? Not the power, but the power delivery. The linear torque curve . Even though it's not as smooth as the DSG, the automatic is perfectly satisfactory. I almost bought a Diesel wagon from the dealer impressed by the torque and low prices a few years ago, but luckily pulled out of the deal and eventually bought the 2.5L( no potential , several thousand dollar HPFP replacement cost!)
