A true supergroup. Tommy Shaw (Styx), Jack Blades (Night Ranger), Ted Nugent, and Michael Cartellone (who would later join Lynyrd Skynyrd). They had a string of hits in the early 90s, and this one was by far the biggest. Others to check out are "Where You Goin' Now", "Don't Tread on Me", "Mister Please", "Coming of Age," and "Come Again". Thanks for reacting!
Silence is Broken is another great song by them... but you can't go wrong with any of the above suggestions either.
Coming of age and come again are fabulous
While there were several 'super groups', they never stay together for long so I always viewed them as project bands. When I learned Tommy Shaw returned to Styx I was a bit surprised, but shouldn't have been when one thinks about it. If you aren't able to maintain that level of relevance, it seems returning to the 'fold' is a common option.
I was blessed because I got to see all of them with their bands!! Yes Nugent was freaking awesome
@@terrylandess6072 Why is it that supergroups never last? None of them ever have. Egos only? Label management finagling? I wonder.
Saying that Jack Blades is a backup singer is an understatement. Him and Tommy share lead vocals on this one.
Lol. Jack Blades isn't a 'backup' anything. I can't imagine him not being front and center in anything he does. He and Shaw were definitely both lead vocalists in this group. They work extremely well together and continued working together even after Damn Yankees split. Look up "Shaw Blades" if you're not familiar.
Right. They are so good at sharing the lead vocals it’s hard to tell them apart. They way their voices blend and the guitar comes in blends too does some things to me. Lol. There is a reason the music note is my profile pic
@@the-dave-house-project I saw Night Ranger one night in Oklahoma, and one of the guitarists couldn't come for medical reasons...but Jack and the rest of the crew put on a good show anyway, including doing High Enough...
So true. Jack sings all the main parts of the song, Tommy only leads him up on the chorus! Jack was an incredible frontman for night ranger
Jack is the lead on this, the backups from the drummer in the chorus are awesome as well.
Their entire album is awesome. You two will really be blown away by "Come again".
Listen to this local bruddah band from Hawaii rendition mash up of Damn Yankees - High Enough and Chicago - The Only One. Pure fire!!! One of my favorite songs

Come Again is indeed, a better song. 🤭
Yes, if you want more Tommy Shaw Damn Yankees, then Come Again is definitely the right song, absolutely amazing song and his vocals are off the charts. Jack Blades and Tommy Shaw did two albums under Shaw-Blades name, separate from DY. Excellent stuff.
Come again, best song they did as a band, and why does jack blades look like Pauly Shore lmao
That's always been my favorite song by them.
Jack and Tommy’s voices are pure magic, together.
The Damn Yankees are an awesome supergroup. Come again is another song by them, and it has one of Ted Nugent’s best solos.

The live version is a must 👌.
Ted's solo on Come Again is pure magic!!
Every Ted solo is magic.
I loved Ted back in the day, before I knew how racist he was. Don't shoot the messenger
This is what we called a "power ballad."
From “K-Tell” records!!
Come Again has everything. Vocals, guitars, drums
Tommy Shaw is a rock legend... Love him.
Throwing out another vote for "Come Again." I bought the first album on cassette when it first came out, and I still enjoy it to this day.
LOOOVED this song
I second this! Or third. Or however many requests there have been. Come Again is 🔥🔥🔥
OMG yes please do Come again😮😁🤘❤️
Quite possibly the best guitar solo Ted has ever written on any Damn Yankees track. He literally goes all in with every guitar trick known at that time (hammer-on/pull offs, harmonic whammy bar dive bombs, legato runs, 2 handed finger tapping and more). Knowing Ted's music for years up til that point, I never knew he could play a guitar like THAT. He blew me away when I first heard this in 1990.
The live version of Come Again is so much better than the studio version.
Finally!!! Talk about a super group! Check out all the members and the bands they were in!
The guy singing "backup" is actually the lead singer on this song. Jack Blades of Night Ranger. He sings both verses while he and Tommy sing the chorus. He was also the lead singer on their hit song's Coming of Age and Don't Tread on Me. Tommy did write their hit song Come Again and was the lead vocalist on that track. Both shared lead/backup duties.
Yes, I laughed to myself when she commented on the guy singing backup.
@@donnakubiski5572 Yep! I hope Jack sees this. He and Tommy would probably have a laugh. They continued to work together after DY broke up with their Shaw Blades project for a while before going back to their respective groups.
There's something about this song that gives me chills. I absolutely love it. Super group for sure.
My grandpa always said, "the difference between a yankee and a damn yankee, is that a yankee comes to visit and a damn yankee comes and stays!" One of my very favorite songs from back in the day! Tommy Shaw and Jack Blades harmonize so well together.
amen
Now you need to check out Jack Blades in Night Ranger. "Don't Tell Me You Love Me" for a rocker since you've already done the ballad, "Sister Christian".
that guitar solo in "Don't Tell Me You Love Me" ~ shiver ~ 😱
Jack and Tommy have great harmonies. Jack is also an underrated songwriter. He's written songs for many other artists.
Damn Yankees is like Ted Nugent, Styx, and Night Ranger all smashed into each other, and this is what was formed! You can hear each artist's style in all their songs!
Supergroup featuring Ted Nugent, Tommy Shaw from Styx, and Jack Blades from Night Ranger. Saw them in concert with Jackyl opening, great show.
Ted Nugent... Ahh. Cat Scratch Fever..
Damn, that must have been a show! I have actually seen part of a live Jackyl show; everyone should experience that once in their life, ha.
@@nancysmith8626 Saw Jackyl several years back at the M3 Rock Festival in Maryland and I can firmly say, Jesse James Dupree still kicks major ass live in concert.
@@MetalMcfly I believe it. But does he still play a CHAINSAW? That's something you don't see every day at a rock show, ha. I knew they were famous for it, and seeing it live was something else for sure.
@@nancysmith8626 He sure does!
Love this song!🎶 ❤ I’d suggest “Come Again” next!
Ahhh, those harmonies. This song rightfully put Damn Yankees on the map when it came out. Not that they would have needed much help with that, being the supergroup that they were. They had more than a few excellent songs - definitely try "Don't Tread on Me," "Coming of Age," and what may be my favorite of theirs, "Where You Goin' Now."

I think the release of the single Damn Yankees did more for this album than this song.
The Damn Yankees IS rock don't let the ballad fool you. This was a year ago, so hopefully you've examined that by now.
I saw them live on my birthday way, way back when.
Tommy Shawn’s vocals are heavenly. And Ted Nugents guitar is always on point

Yes!! My era again, saw these guys in concert, they were great!! More of my era Level 42 Something about you
One of my most wished for reunions. Saw them in '93 and they were mind blowing. We definitely need a third album.
YES!!!
Those Damn Yankees!!!
You really need to check out some Night Ranger, Jack Blades the first singer, leads it. I loved them from their first single 'Don't Tell Me You Love Me'. It is a real banger.
Don't Tell You Love Me is great, as is Four in the Morning, Seven Wishes. Also check out Night Ranger's power ballad, Goodbye.
One of my favorites! Still on my playlist ❤
I love their song "Where You Goin' Now"
One of my most favorite songs.
“Where you goin now” is another totally amazing song from them you’d love. Both Damn Yankee albums are incredible! Jack is 1/2 the lead singers for Night Ranger. Highly recommend “(You can still) Rock in America” and “When you close your eyes” from them! Tommy Shaw and Jack Blades also did a few albums as Shaw Blades, all full of amazing songs that I listen to all the time.
“Goodbye” and “sentiment street” from 7 Wishes too there all great songs👍🏻
@@owen3419 The first 3 albums by Night Ranger, are Classics. They need more attention. They only reacted to Sister Christian. Here are some suggestions: Don,t tell me you love me, Can,t find me a thrill, Night Ranger, Eddie,s coming out, Rumours in the air, Why does love have to change, You can still rock in america, 7 wishes, Faces and Sentimental street. All great songs.
@@ssRocker-nn3tp The last 10 albums have some serious gems on them too. Big Life and Man In Motion are two of my favorite albums of all time. What I enjoy is how they've maintained their sound over the decades. High Road could have been written in 1985!
Saw them in 1991 at Market Square Arena in Indianapolis Indiana, Sold out festival seating, got 4 rows back from stage. What an amazing show. Bad Company followed them.
Bad Reputation by Damn Yankees! 😎🔥🤘🎸
I saw Damn Yankees in 1992 in Denver with Firehouse and Poison. loved every minute of it. I absolutely love this song. 😀 😍 ❤ 💕
Damn Yankees was an American rock supergroup formed in 1989 consisting of Tommy Shaw of Styx, Jack Blades of Night Ranger, Ted Nugent of The Amboy Dukes, and Michael Cartellone (then an unknown drummer who would later join Lynyrd Skynyrd).
They are remembered for the songs "High Enough" and "Where You Goin' Now", both Top 40 hits in the early 1990s.

Google is great huh..🤣🤦♂️
@@Guiltless765 yep 👍 I was in pain so that’s all I can put at the time.
I think the Motor City Mad Man, Ted Nuggent, is better known for his solo career than he is for the Amboy Dukes.
@@christhompson2006 Definitely. Kinda like saying Jack Blades from Rubicon. :P
Always forget how great those guys were.
Band: Buckcherry "Lit Up" / Band: john cafferty & the beaver brown band "On the Dark Side" this is also in a movie called Eddie & The Cruisers 1 & 2.
Early 90's supergroup & their amazing power ballad!!!!!!!!!!
"High Enough" is a song by American supergroup Damn Yankees from their self titled debut album. Nugent once also explained that he coined the name because whenever someone asked him how he and Tommy Shaw would sound playing together, he would always reply by saying they would sound like “a bunch of damn Yankees." A power ballad, it is their most successful single in terms of chart position and sales, rising to No. 3 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, the group's first (and only) top-ten pop single. It also reached No. 2 on the US Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. The success of "High Enough" helped send its parent album into the top 20 on the US albums chart.

One of the best songs on the whole planet!!
Saw these guys way back. Bad Company opened. Near the end of their set everyone except the drummer left the stage. He played guitar and the entire audience sang along to "Shooting Star". Then Damn Yankees took the stage and rocked the rest of the night away!
FINALLYYYYYYYYY
Check out Come Again! It literally has every great moment of a rock song you can get. Im lucky to say that I was at their very first concert ever as as a band. I was 14 years old. Such a great memory!
I absolutely love the harmonies on this song!!
Coming Of Age by Damn Yankees! 😎🔥🤘🎸
Jack Blades sings lead for a lot of songs. Nugent and Tommy on guitar and vocals. Pretty awesome ensemble of talent. Jack Blade’s group “Night Ranger” is definitely worth looking up. Two more killer guitarists with Watson and Gilles.
“Coming of Age” is another cool Damn Yankees song
Brad Gillis is an amazing guitarist. He singlehandedly saved Ozzy's Diary of a Madman tour after Randy Rhoads' death in 1982. I can't imagine the pressure of filling those shoes at the age of 25 but he slayed it.
@@MetalMcfly He's the only guitarist to have two major albums released within a week of each other because of that gig. Dawn Patrol came out within a week of Diary of a Madman. Talk about super groups, though, right? Night Ranger is nothing but talent to this day and still going strong.
I love this group!!! Still listen to them!!! Great music on this album!!!!
I love, love, love Damn Yankees.
Come Again is the song you want to check out from Damn Yankees!
That's not just a man singing backup vocals, that's Jack Blades from Night Ranger! You reacted to their song Sister Christian. They have more excellent songs for you give a listen to. Don't Tell Me You Love Me, You Can Still Rock in America, Four in the Morning, Sentimental Street, When You Close Your Eyes, Goodbye and Rumors in the Air to name a few!
WOW! It's been a hot minute since I heard this. Great flashback.
Beautiful well constructed pop song then terrible ted the motor city madman kicks in the door and unleashes the rock solo!! Gotta love him!
Let me tell you, I’m a 52-year-old woman who grew up on this music and I love your channel! I have a 13-year old and she knows all of these songs!
God bless you and yours! I've seen these guys many times! Awesome power band!
Fifteen Minutes Of Fame by Damn Yankees! 😎🔥🤘🎸
My favorite supergroup of all time. They only made two albums, but there is not a weak track on either of them. Much like how Tommy Shaw didn't sing lead on all of Styx's music, Jack Blades split lead vocal duties with his band Night Ranger. And for that matter, Ted Nugent also split time on vocal duties with his music. So this band had three lead singers, who were all used to sharing the vocal duties and they did so here as well, although you never heard Ted sing lead on any of their radio tracks. Too bad as "Piledriver" really rocks.
When you said you expected a band called Damn Yankees to be more rock, you didn't know how right you were. You just picked one of the two softest songs they released. Most of their albums rock, very hard in some places. I'd definitely recommend "Don't Tread on Me" to see what they're really all about. Or if you want to checkout another song that has a slow build up before kicking it up a notch, check out "Come Again." It may have the best guitar solo that Ted did in any of the Damn Yankees tracks.
Actually, I just watched the "Don't Tread on Me" video again. Definitely go with that one!
Listen to this local bruddah band from Hawaii rendition mash up of Damn Yankees - High Enough and Chicago - The Only One. Pure fire!!! One of my favorite songs

This comment right here. 100%.
Jack Blades was just as much a lead vocalist as Tommy Shaw. You may have even covered Night Ranger in one of your episodes (?)….if not, add Sister Christian to the suggestion list!
Many of the super groups (or just bands with multiple singers, like Chicago for example) didn’t have *one* lead vocalist….they had several. Styx also didn’t just have one lead vocalist, they had two (though I personally preferred Tommy’s singing to Dennis DeYoung).
And you’re right….Ted Nugent, while talented, is a VERY decisive personality, lol.
What you said. Spot on.
@@payleighsteele1540 For the record, although Sister Christian is a superb song Jack Blades was not the lead vocalist on that song, it was Kelly Keagy.
Their concerts had 4 sources to pull from: Damn Yankees, Styx, Night Ranger, and Ted Nugent. Every song killer live.
I forgot about this song. This song 80's metal/rock at its finest. Its so catchy. Everyone in this band is on point!!! Excellent find!!
Great reaction! Ted Nugent, aka The Motor City Madman, was always transparent about not doing drugs, alcohol or tobacco. He was popular but you never see him on any top 10 lists of guitar players. You have to hear this guy play live! Double Live Gonzo is something to check out. As far as studio stuff, Little Miss Dangerous has a sinister bass driving the song with a clean but piercing guitar as the counterpart. In fact they even made an episode of Miami Vice about that song and Ted was in a different episode called Definitely Miami where he played a drug dealer who drove a Corvette, and a hot blonde! Wango Tango and Scream Dream will kick you in the face!
No, he preferred under-age girls to drugs, alcohol, and tobacco.
@@DM-kc5du so it's been said...better stop listening to every rock band from the 70's and 80's just to be sure

@@rwfrench66GenX Facts! It amazes me how people take long ago rumors to try and make Ted look like he's Roman Polanski. What Ted did was within the law.
Jack Blades was the backup singer. He was originally from Night Ranger. You should check out their song "You Can Still Rock In America". It's a banger for sure.
I never saw him as the backup…I thought they shared duties pretty evenly…personally I prefer Jacks vocals over Tommy
@@dantonliam They referred to him as the backup singer, so I used that term to identify him for them.
@@Copperwise - They were wrong in how they referred to Jack. He sang lead as much if not more than Tommy in this song that he was writing before Tommy heard him and they finished it together. Tommy sang high harmony in the chorus while Jack sang lead and Jack sang most of the first verse solo. It doesn't help them learn if you don't point out mistakes.
@@Copperwise I have the debut CD right in front of me, he is listed as Lead vocalist/backup up vocalist in the inlay card. Went to Wikipedia just to double check and sure enough, Lead/backup vocalist.
Yeah, the other lead singer is Jack Blades, as others have pointed out, one of the lead singers of Night Ranger. You did Sister Christian, which featured Kelly Keagy in the lead. If you really want to hear what Jack can do as one of Night Ranger’s lead singers, listen to “Don’t Tell Me You Love Me”, “Rock in America”, “Four in the Morning”, and “The Secret of My Success”. Also, he and Kelly work so well together on my favorite Night Ranger song “When You Close Your Eyes”.
Classic power ballad!
Love this song and The Damn Yankees! This is what happens when some of the greatest musicians get together and form a band. Absolute perfection 🔥🔥🔥
Can’t Live Without Your Love and Affection - Nelson is another great harmonious song from the early 90s that went to #1. You guys would love that song also.
And if you're talking Nelson, you can't forget "After the Rain" :D Lots of other great songs, but they didn't get the play those two did.
Excellent song!
In my opinion, I think they should do the father first...Ricky Nelson singing "Hello Mary Lou" and "Garden Party". Then do his son's Gunnar and Matthew...The Nelson's.
@@islandgreenstrong You bring up a very good point. I thought they'd done one by Ricky Nelson before, but either I was mistaken or it was removed. Definitely need to look at Ricky Nelson as well as his boys :) Not that daughter Tracy hasn't put out some songs, but nothing as notable as Ricky or the twins...
Nelson rock baby! 😎🔥🤘🎸
Drummer has played with many great bands, since 1999 has been with Lynyrd Syknrd
The harmony ❤️❤️❤️
Great song by a great superband
The original album version has a beautiful strings intro that goes with the outro. Love this song! Much love ❤️
I was about to say the video plays over that part and ruins it - it's so pretty!
Facts🎯 I really wished they’d have listened to that as the reaction, plus this ‘radio’ edit cuts Nuge’s guitar solo too.
Damn Yankees - Comin Of Age ROCKS HARD !!!!
cannot get enough of this supergroup
UNCLE TED!!! 🤘🏽🤘🏽🔥🔥🎸🎸🙏🏽
Their entire debut album is fantastic!! You'll love every song, but for your next one, check out Come Again. Then you've got Coming of age, Bad Reputation, Runaway, Damn Yankees, Piledriver.
Coming Of Age and Don't Tread On Me by Damn Yankees freaking rocks!!
Personal favorite. This song rocks. Great band
Oh I've so been hoping you'd do this song sometime. :) Such an amazing band. They were another one of the Super Groups, like the Traveling Wilburys. They included Tommy Shaw of Styx, Jack Blades of Night Ranger, and Ted Nugent. Next song by them you should do is Where You Goin' Now
Great reaction. The first time I heard this song, I thought the backup vocalist was Rick Emmett of Triumph. These songs are classic, thanks for keeping them alive.
What else can you expect from two music gods on vocals Tommy Shaw and Jack Blades from night ranger. Two of the most underrated musicians in rock history.
Hell yes.
Three music Gods the greatest most powerful guitarist to have ever taken a stage Ted Nugent!
This takes me back to my senior year in high school and oh how I loved the bad boys with long hair! 🤣As others have mentioned, "Come Again" is another great song by Damn Yankees.
You have to do "Come Again". That song has one of the best guitar solos ever. Yes, Nugent is a lunatic, but he's a great guitarist. I can't stand him personally, but I won't deny he's super talented.
Well said.
IT’S ABOUT TIME!!! I’ve been waiting for you to check these guys out. When you look up supergroup in the dictionary, Damn Yankees picture should be there. They are the true definition of it. Most of the members come from other major groups and when they came together……it was magic. You started out with their ballad though. I wish you would have started with “Coming of Age”. Us fans keep hoping for another album but they can’t seem to work it with all of their schedules. Most of them are still active with other musical projects but I hope they do make one more album.
Crosby Stills and Nash
Love this song! Ted nugent is the guy on guitar and tommy Shaw on guitar and co lead vocals and jack blades from night ranger on vocals too
Everything from the Damn Yankees is A M A Z I N G!!!!!!
Damn Yankees by Damn Yankees! 😎🔥🤘🎸
It's such a coincidence. Tommy Shaw is from Styx as you know, and he shared lead vocal duties with Dennis DeYoung. Tommy was the lead singer on "Renegade" that you reacted to earlier. And Jack Blades is from Night Ranger, and is the co-lead with Kelly Keagy. You recently reacted to "Sister Christian" (Keagy was the lead on that song). And then they formed a supergroup Damn Yankees, where they are co-lead singers in that band as well. I love the comment "I thought we were getting some rock" when it first started. Y'all picked a great song but one of their few ballads. Most of their catalog - at least the songs that charted - are very much rock songs (see comments below for more of their hits).
Keagy has a couple cool solo albums out as well. Pretty sure they're all on here, if you haven't heard them.
Finally! :D Damn Yankees have so many good songs for a group that didn't get to release many albums. (I think I heard back in the day it was because touring and recording interfered with Ted Nugent's hunting season stuff, but I have no idea if this is true.) Definitely check out "Coming of Age", "Where You Goin' Now?", "Silence is Broken", and "Come Again". You can't miss with this band. :D
I remember recording this song off of the radio and playing it over and over and over. 😂. Great song!!!
A power ballad!
Saw them three times live and they blew the doors off the place each time. Backed up Skynyrd once Bad Co once, and had Jackyl back them on New Years Day 1992. They were a true super group to bad they only put out two albums.
Jackyl, Nice.😁 I’d love to see their reaction to the Lumberjack song.😂🤘🏽
❤ this song but my favorites off this album were “Coming of Age”, “Mystified”, “Tell Me How You Want It” and “Come Again”. Pretty much enjoyed this whole album. Off of the Don’t Tread album my favorite is “Where You Goin’ Now”. Grew up listening to Styx and Night Ranger which is my favorite band so when I heard about Damn Yankees forming I knew I would be on board for it.
Damn Yankees came out on the tail end of the Hair Band era and they knocked it outta the park. Warrant and Skid Row were a couple of other hair bands towards the end of what was one of the best years of rock.
Damn Yankees best band of the 90s hands down just aw some in concert.
Takes me back to Senior year of HS. God Bless the Power Ballads! You guys should take a look at Nelson's "Love and Affection "
Oh I totally agree with you! I LOVED Damn Yankees and Nelson too! PLEASE react to Nelson which can take them to Ricky if they haven't already discovered him!
Great suggestion!
I loved them! FYI (to those who don’t know) the Nelson brothers are the sons of Ricky Nelson, grandsons to Ozzie and Harriet, and brothers to Tracey Nelson (an actress).
Funny thing, Jack Blades is from California, Tommy is from Georgia. Not exactly Yankees. Great song. Jack was good enough of a bass player to be in on of the Ringo's All Starr Bands. High praise indeed - Ringo only hires the best.
I saw Damn Yankees in the early 90's. They opened up for Bad Company. For the record, I was/am still a huge Bad Co. fan, so they were the main reason I was going to the concert and I liked Damn Yankees,so it was a win/win for me. I wasn't expecting DY to blow me away like they did. They did a song by each (Ted, Tommy and Jack) and just put on one hell of a show culminating with Ted - The Motor City Madman - shooting a cardboard cut out of Saddam Hussein with a compound bow and a flaming arrow. (We were at war with Iraq at the time). We were so worn out cheering for Damn Yankees that were weren't able to cheer for Bad Company like we should have. And I'm talking about the whole crowd.
Rock City by Damn Yankees! 😎🔥🤘🎸
This is a great song! This was a rock supergroup! Tommy Shaw and Jack Blades from Night Ranger ( Sister Christian) and Ted Nuggent who is one of the craziest and greatest and way underrated guitarist!
Shaw was from STYX not Night Ranger
@@billcobb6447 they knew Tommy and said he was from Styx but they don’t know that Jack Blades is from NR!!
Great song. Ted Nugent on lead guitar and can still rock it. Great band.
Come Again is a must at this point
Next damn Yankees - come again
Ted crushes the guitar solo with some of his best work ever !
Another band you need to react to is Whitesnake
Whitesnake rock baby! 😎🔥🤘🎸
On this song, Tommy Shaw took the higher vocals on harmony, and Jack Blade took the melody, which was a little lower. They both have magnificent voices, and they continued to sing together after Damn Yankees broke up. They sound so good together. Some of us have been waiting for this forever. Next, please also do their song Come Again. It's another real winner. Thanks for remembering to do this. Fun fact: Last and only time I saw Damn Yankees Ted Nugent jumped onstage in a leopard print onesie. I'm one of those people who loathes Ted's politics, but yes, he can definitely play up a storm.
LOVE this song and Damn Yankees!!! Ted just looks so cool through the whole thing.
Another favorite song...this song just hits!! 😍
You've pretty much reacted to these guys before, only in different configurations. Ted Nugent killing it on guitar, Tommy Shaw from Styx and Jack Blades from Night Ranger. Michael Cartellone is the more recent drummer for Lynyrd Skynyrd.
