Same guys...Damn Yankees... the song "High Enough." Vocals are equally stellar. And if you you want one that's more uptempo... their song "Coming of Age." This is one group that I truly yearn for a reunion.
One of my all time favorite bands..Tommy Shaw is one of the most talented guitarists and vocalist in rock! Jack blades and Ted Nugent beyond amazing band..I saw them in concert in the early 90s....one of the best shows I saw!!
Yea Maggie Tommy came from the band Styx (late 70's early 80's), Jack came from Night Ranger ( 80's) and well Ted, he is his own animal. Cant remember where the drummer came from.
@@toddhenderson7525 Carteleone ended up with Lenard Skynard after Damn Yankees.. but he also toured with John Fogerty, Cher, and Shaw Blades. He is an AWESOME drummer!
@@lizzieb6311 He is! I sometimes think he gets overlooked a little! Gotta give him his props! But this is most definitely a Supergroup! I love Tommy Shaw, his vocals are always on point and he plays a mean guitar! Ted, of course is legendary and Jack is also brilliant! Too bad they weren't around longer! Love them!
That lead singer is Tommy Shaw, LEGEND of Styx fame. Damn Yankees was a "supergroup" from the 90's that combined him, the amazing Mr Ted Nugent (Cat Scratch Fever?), and Jack Blades of Night Ranger. Ted was on lead guitar there, and he's amazing as a rule. Check "Coming of Age" by them. ;)
I have always believed Damn Yankees were the last truly great rock band to come out of the late 80's / Early 90's before the landscape of that era of music changed...as it inevitably does. Tommy Shaw is one of the truly great but criminally underrated singer/songwriter/musicians.
that’s Tommy Shaw’s (Styx) magic on vocals. Damn Yankees was a super-group that was musically amazing. Ted Nugent on lead guitar is a virtuoso on the electric guitar
As amazing as Shaw and Nugent are, we have to give props to the vocals of Jack Blades in the harmony parts. Dude is singing an E5 with crystalline clarity!
One of the best supergroups of all time. I went to see Ted Nugent on new years eve 1989, and he performed with them as the opening band, and did his solo band afterwards...so awesome!!!!
Tommy shaw is probably one of the top underrated all around musicians of all time. Insane voice and song writing skills and a damn fine guitarist. Plays a 12 string like its nothing
I agree with this so much. Styx was out there, but for some reason, I never listened to them and I did not know this man's name. Now, I can't stop playing Damn Yankees reaction videos. For some reason, I missed out on Tommy Shaw. He is way underrated and should have been featured much more. His voice is very clear
One of the greatest bands ever - and the entire album is phenomenal! Back when this came out I had it on cassette tapes. I listened to this so many times I was one my third copy of it before finally buying it on CD years later; having worn the tapes out. You missed an opportunity with not watching the live version - one of the greatest fret work ever on a stage. big bad ted nugent was untouchable on this song - and his stage presence and personality is so magnanimous. His rock star persona was bigger than life up there.
I was 18 years old when this album came out. Played it on repeat for months. You can just have the entire album playing in the background and never tire of it. (was some good music back in the day) I think it was a Tuesday. 😁
I once read a comment that describes this song perfectly...'the only bad thing about this song is that it ends'! Lol...I couldn't have said it better myself! Great reaction! I love your appreciation of this timeless song from so many years ago!❤️🤘
Ahhhh!!! My favorite band and my favorite song they do! Tommy Shaw's voice is AMAZING!! The entire band is! This is a super group! Not underrated just a little before your time. I grew up with these guys. They don't have a bad song but I highly recommend The Silence is Broken, Where You Goin' Now, and High Enough.
Several more great songs to check out from this band, but I also want to mention Shaw-Blades for more of those magical vocal harmonies. Because Tommy and Jack's voices do blend together so well to create truly special harmonies, the guys decided to do a side project called Shaw-Blades. The songs are bit less edgy hard rock and lean more acoustic and their vocal blend is featured at the forefront of these songs. The 1st album from 1995 is titled Hallucination. I would classify it as Americana maybe, as the songs have a down home feel and are reflective of their youth and life experiences. Try "Blue Continental" for a taste of what this album has to offer. I enjoyed their 2nd album from 2007 even more. Aptly titled Influence, it includes cover versions of songs from artists that were influential to them. Again, it stays pretty mellow and continues to lean more acoustic and straight ahead rock. As Jack and Tommy would no doubt say themselves, the covers can't and shouldn't replace the originals, nor is it the intent. It is clear that the guys are taking this seriously and treating these songs with the utmost reverence because of how important they are to them. As a result these versions are definitely worthy of a listen and appreciation even if only to hear these classics performed with this very special, magical vocal combination. I'm hooked from track one Summer Breeze. They're all good and other standouts for me are: Your Move, Lucky Man, and California Dreamin’. Hope you'll decide to check them out even if just for yourself. The problem for Damn Yankees was all about timing. They hit in the late 80’s/early 90s when hard rock and metal were on the outs and grunge and hip hop were becoming king. Labels were dropping support for anything that could be me remotely associated with hair metal and thus unfortunately for us all the Damn Yankees were short-lived. ❤ Great reaction, loved it, now do more Damn Yankees damn-it!: High Enough, Where You Going Now, Coming of Age, Mystified, Runaway, Tell Me How You Want It, Silence is Broken, Someone to Believe, Bad Reputation, Don’t Tread On Me
One of all-time favorite songs in any genre from any artist .. it has everything, from amazing vocals to the absolutely incredible guitar work from the icon Ted Nugent!! Thanks for an awesome reaction Maggie, as always .. this song affects me exactly the same way each and every time I hear it.
Hard to go wrong with anything that Tommy Shaw has done... fantastic musician, vocalist and songwriter. Highly recommend the Shaw/Blades album he did with Jack when they just couldn't get a 3rd Damn Yankees album together, but also Tommys work with the Contemporary Youth Orchestra is also fantastic, of which there is a great DVD and also some on UA-cam.
Oh yeah, there is a video of a slowed down version of Blue Collar Man with the kids in the orchestra and choir that Maggie would LOVE. It really shows off Tommy's gorgeous voice!

The rewards of being a supergroup. They can do what they want because they've already made it in other bands and don't have that to worry about. Thanks to the bands Styx, Night Ranger, Amboy Dukes, and later Lynyrd Skynyrd for giving us these guys.
And that's Uncle Ted
Their song "High Enough" is amazing!!
Love everyone in Damn Yankees! Saw Jack Blades with Night Ranger in July, 2022-fantastic, energetic show. Everybody should see Night ranger live at least once. Hope to see Tommy Shaw with Styx in the coming year. Thanks for the review.
This is why they call it a 'super group'. My only wish is that they had recorded more than 2 albums.
Shaw and Blades did go on to record a couple as a duet though... Shaw Blades (for anyone who doesn't know). :)
