The band was formed in 1989, consisting of Tommy Shaw, Ted Nugent, Michael Cartellone and Jack Blades. The band went on a world tour for almost two years in the 1990s.
Lyrics
I was a loner cruisin with the wind
I wasn't looking when you pulled me in
I had to leave you, like I always did
You knew damn well I'd come again
Now I'm falling, where I've never been
My resistance is wearing thin
Somewhere in the distance
Like a long lost friend
Woa, woa wo wo yea again, come again
Lord here I come again
It's been so long since I've seen you girl
Swear I've been around the world
Every room is an empty space
In the darkness I see your face
Wo wo wo, wo wo wo, wo wo wo
When I finally get my hands on you
Tell you what I'm gonna do
Lay you down strip you bare
Make love to you 'til the morning comes around
I wasn't looking when you pulled me in
Wo wo wo wo, yea yea yea
Lord here I come again
Come again, come again, I say lord
I wasn't looking when you pulled me in
Wo wo wo wo, yea yea yea
Lord here I come again
Wo wo wo, wo wo wo, wo wo wo
Wo wo wo, wo wo wo, wo wo wo
I wasn't looking when you pulled me in
Wo wo wo wo, yea yea yea
Lord here I come again

Cant believe when people talk about the greatest solos ever this song is never mentioned, that's one hell of a solo
That's the one and only Ted Nugent ripping that solo! 🤟🎸
You don't see Joan Jett doin' that (heh, heh)!
@@themightydecibel-heavymeta7130 Not at all haha, It's a damn shame Uncle Ted's not in the rock n roll hall of fame. Double Gonzo live enough said!
@@themightydecibel-heavymeta7130 you nailed it!
Uncle Ted can just rip brother
I love Uncle Ted.
Jack Blades said that when they would all show up to the studio early in the morning for practice and while he was still yawning, gravel voiced and wiping the sleep out of his eyes, Tommy Shaw would walk in and immediately hit those soaring high notes effortlessly .. Tommy Shaw flew under so many people's radar but in an amazing vocalist.
Uncle Ted is just one of the best guitarist out there, and the funny thing is he’s disliked in the music industry becomes he doesn’t drink, smoke , take drugs and is a outspoken pro American. Lol. Go figure. Tommy Shaw & Jack Blades vocals are spot on and as always Michael Cartellone drumming is in the pocket and tight Thanks guy’s.
Ted and Tommy's ideolgies clashed, but they managed to be friends, hard to find that today.
Yeah , sometimes people are just locked in and difficult to get along with. I’m a west coast dude leaning more to Ted in my thinking but I have a few professional musician friends so I just keep my opinions to myself. I don’t make it a issue. Sa La Vee.
@@JayTor2112 When the two individuals are both intelegent and respectfully tollerant of each others beliefs, they can still be friends, even while being uncompromising. It is when the uncompromisinng nature refuses to accept that another view should exist at all, that things turn bad. Ted and Tommy are diametrically opposed but respectful. As Ted said "Tommy eats the rabbit food, and I eat the damn rabbit", but they did not this interfere with the creation of a song like this one.
interfear
Jack and Tommy’s voices melt together beautifully. Uncle Ted rips the guitar solo 🎸 I’ve saw him 8 times in concert he never disappoints ❤
I would've loved to see Damn Yankees but I saw Ted in Tucson in 1999-2000 and it sucked. I was there for Jackyl who opened, and while they often stole the show from the headliners, esp. back in those days, I fully expected Ted to melt my face off. Instead we walked out and drove back home to Phoenix after about 30 mins, it was just so bland and lame. Was very surprised. Oh well.
This song is BEAUTIFUL. If you haven’t already, you should listen to this entire album. It’s epic.
One of my favorite Ted solos. This is my favorite Damn Yankees song. Definition of supergroup here.
Tommy Shaw, also in STYX. Great underrated vocalist
And songwriter! Guitar playing ain't too shabby either. 🙂❤
My favorite! Love that man's voice!!
Who underrated him?? You’re a dumb ass
Always loved the songs he wrote & sang with Styx.
Hardly what I would ever consider "underated". But I can see why some would think so. Mostly because you weren't around in the 70's and 80s when cruising main street with the 8 track cranked up as high as it would go without distorting the music. You can be sure that you missed out. So sad.
Favorite song from Damn Yankees. The Motor City Madman himself, Ted Nugent, Tommy Shaw from Styx, and Jack Blades from Night Ranger. Another must listen by them is "Coming of Age".
Same here! Such an amazing tune! They don't make em like this anymore.
Love Coming Of Age too!!
Never heard this song before, but LOVE IT.
I don't think this was ever played on the radio in Australia back in the 90's.
This is my JAM!!!! My favorite of theirs! Nothing but talent and brilliance!
One of the greatest guitar solos ever. Saw them live in the early 90s, incredible band.
The drummer is killing it. He is awesome to watch how much he gets into it.
Tommy Shaw is a phenomenal vocalist. I saw them live in 1990 when they were opening for Bad Company. They were more like the headliner. They were fantastic
Bad company opened for them in 1991 when I saw them at Castle Farms in Charlavoix, Mi
@@flyindutchman1123 seems like the way it should have been at that point. Bad Company without Paul Rodgers was not the same.
I saw the same tour. Awesome show.
Totally agree! I saw that tour in Maine! At least 3 times in a cpl years! Phenomenal!
This is one of my fav songs - epic lead vocals by Tommy, amazing drumming by Michael, bass & harmonies by Jack and Ted goes nuts on the guitar solo. What a vibe, what energy, what a song!
Growing up during this time and appreciating each artist in this band and in this prior respective bands, I fucking love this song and I fucking love this band! And I fucking love this song so much!
They are all still alive so I can't truly say "they don't make them like that anymore" . . . . But they don't make 'em like that anymore! Music today is nothing like this. Awesome for you guys to react to these legends!
Michael , Jack , Uncle Ted , and the one and only cousin Tommy. That's one badass band right there folks
This is a Super Group
Tommy Shaw - Styx
Jack Blades - Night Ranger
Ted Nugent - The one and only
Michael on drums
Come again is just so great. What were missing today. Cheers guys.
Ted is just outstanding ,along with Tommys vocals
I bought this CD when it came out. Damn Yankees were fantastic. I wish they would do another album.
I got to see them live in Detroit early 90s loudest concert ever . They played some Night Ranger some Styx, and some of Ted's solo stuff. Awesome show
More of that, pretty please! Fantastic reaction you two! Happy Friday 🙂❤
If you want to see the song that put Jack Blades and Night Ranger on the map, do a live vid for “Don’t Tell Me You Love Me”. They bring it. Straight to the point. Then they blew up and got BIG.
And "You Can Still Rock in America!! too!!
One of the super groups from that era. Tommy Shaw (Styx), Ted F& kin Nugget, Jack Blades (Night Ranger) , they’re lucky buddy on drums who afterward played for Skynard. High Enough is the other awesome.
I'd pat bigtime to see them just one more time, singing all this original stuff. Even 30 years later, None of them would Crack a note or miss a beat on the guitars/drums. TRULY a gift to the music industry. Priceless ❤
@@lisabrady7332 They had semi reunions and there's one with Styx and the contemporary youth orchestra that is awesome
This is not only my fav song by DY (by far), it is among my most favorite rock songs of all time! The live version of this song is beyond incredible, and really shows off Ted Nugents guitar and charisma/presence on stage.
Love this group of performers. Tommy Shaw is among my most favorite musicians/singer/songwriters ever. He and (bassist) Jack Blades (originally from Night Ranger) have a couple albums of just the two of them - very bluesy grass roots rock, similar to Bob Dylan and Tom Petty sound. Very well done music.
Such a shame this group only lasted 2 albums. A supergroup if ever there was one.
All right my hunterz....I was privileged to see this band live and all their songs kick hard ‼️🔥💯🔥🤘🏼😎🤘🏼
Young lady, your smile is electric. I absolutely love this song. Happy new year!!!
Oh how awesome you guys covered this song! Thank you!! ☺️
Always loved that song. Nugent shreds it like no other and Tommy shaw/Jack Blades vocals always awesome.
Love this one, awesome song and solo. Great Supergroup.
Tommy Shaw at his finest. What a lead vocal on a kickass song.
What an amazing song, thanks for the reaction!
I almost forgot how rockin this song is because I'm so used to watching the solo version Tommy Shaw did unplugged with The Cleveland Youth Orchestra... You now owe it to yourselves to check out that version, you will NOT be disappointed!!!
No one does it like Uncle Ted on guitar. Those days were the coolest fcking times in history. I made a hello lot of love to this music 😉
I love this band, they made two great albums, you should do High Enough and Coming Of Age too by them.
I wore out two cassettes with this album on them back in the day. Awesome for late night early morning road trips.
Love the facial expressions on u 2!
I wish like hell that DY would have put out more than their two albums. Hands down the best "supergroup" ever.
Change My Mind.
Perhaps the greatest rock ballad of the 90s
Badass band, love them
My favorite super group of all time. I've seen probably around 70 bands over my years (as in bands with record deals, not counting the local bars), and I'd still put Damn Yankees in my top five, maybe top three live acts when ranking them by how good they sounded live. Vocals always on point. Enough different that you could tell they weren't just lip syncing, but otherwise so close to the album you thought they had to be. What I find interesting is that you have three members of the band that were all part time lead singers from their prior bands. Night Ranger, Styx, and Ted Nugent were all groups where different people sang lead on different songs. And they all continued that when they formed Damn Yankees. All the singles they released had lead vocals by Tommy or Jack, so if you didn't buy the album, you wouldn't know it, but Ted did get his turn too. Check out "Piledriver" from their first album, probably the heaviest song they ever did. And it's pretty funny with Ted's little monologue in the middle of the song.
Looks like you've reacted to two Damn Yankees songs so far, one a pure ballad, this song here that is kind of half and half. Time to check out one of their rockers. I'd go with "Don't Tread on Me." Great song! And for some fun, check out some of their live vids. For their encores, they usually finished up their shows with "Renegade" by Styx (one of my all time favorites), "Cat Scratch Fever" from Ted's solo career, and Night Ranger's "You Can Still Rock in America." I personally preferred the Damn Yankees version of each of them.
Wow, never heard these guys in my 71 years.
Tommy Shaw's incredible soaring vocals and Uncle Ted absolutely killing it on lead guitar like no other. Uncle Ted once again shows everybody what rip roaring shredding is all about. Bravo.!!!
My Favorite song by them, definitely! Possibly, my favorite band if I was forced to choose, lol. AMAZING song!!
Dang how did you choose just one ? Did they even do a bad song?🥰 but yeah ,this is one of mine as well, where you going now , high enough and don’t tread on me are really good so I couldn’t choose , too many choices lol🤘🏻
Mister Please and Don't Tread on Me are great as well! Epic harmonies in most of their songs.
Damn Yankees. Thats what they were! Tommy and that great voice! Jack's pounding base and perfect meshing voice with Tommy! Ted. Possibly his best playing ever and thats a huge statement! Michael, a flipping beast on drums! This kid is top notch! Damn Yankees!!! We want 2 more albums!!!!!
Great song! Glad to see the kids watch this.
You can't go wrong with the one and only motor city mad man Ted Nugent shredding the guitar.
Tommy Shaw from Styx, Jack Blades from Night Ranger, Ted Nugent on Lead and an unknown but great drummer. Shaw and Blades both sang lead in their other bands and Shaw is also a great guitarist
and that my friends is how it's done....pure rock n role from the best in the business.
One of the greatest!! Ted Nugent FIRE on the guitar!
Loved Your reaction. Their album was one of the best albums released in 1990
My favorite song from this supergroup also. I got to see them on Ted Nugent's whiplash bash on New Years Eve 1990. They were the opening band, so Ted had to play both sets....epic!!
Love the motor City mad man Tommy Shaw and Jack blades boy that was a super group Great reaction guys rock on
Jesus...90 was an awesome year. I was 23 and the world was wide open. Too much fun was had.
The original Super Group! Great stuff!
Well, no, there were others before them. But I think they are the best.
These guys were so loud live that I thought my ears were going to bleed!
I've always wanted to see Ted and Slash just go at it in a guitar dual. Or hell for that matter, just play together on something. Could you imagine the amount of guitar shredding that would take place?
That would be cool. Tommy and Slash did a single song together that was put on ITunes called Gypsy. Tommy on lead vocals and Slash doing some good guitar work at the end of that song. It also include the other Styx guitarist JY on background vocals.
Uncle Ted Nugent on lead guitar, man he was shredding it.
Only uncle Ted.. one of the best!! Love yall great reaction as always keep it up.
Energy at their live shows was off the chart
Saw them live. Blew the roof off the house
Damn Yankees, Slaughter, Firehouse,,, all great stuff 🤘🤪🤘
Those vocal harmonies between Jack Blades and Tommy Shaw are epic. And how about Jack Blades stage presence?? He has the stage presence of a lead guitarist.
An all stars line up right there!!!
Yes...yes...yes!!!
Uncle Ted at his best!
This should be a 60s group. That's classic rock if I ever heard it.
Something else to check out Tommy Shaw and Jack Blades did a duiet called Shaw Blades it really shows how well their vocals mesh together
It's a legit super group.
The camera shot from inside the body of the guitar was cool but that see-through neck was bad ass
Or fret board i should say
Ted Nugent, Tommy Shaw of STYX, Jack Blades of Night Ranger, and Michael Cartellone on drums who has been Lynyrd Skynyrds drummer for many years up to the present. This is a top notch
SUPERGROUP!!🤘🤘
I watch Ted every week on spirit of the wild and he still rocks, 73 years old and looks like he 40.
That's the way all music should be!
Great band!!!!!
Tommy shaw is a phenomenal vocalist
Uncle Ted can play that guitar 🎸 they were good, wish I'd seen them live in concert, saw the video in Denver Concert awesome cool, good review yeah 🤘😆🤘🎸🎸🎧🎤🥁
you have 3 lead singer in the band from other major bands and drummer from another major band
Tommy Shaw and Jack Blades also recorded a few albums together as a duo under Shaw/Blades.
Love Shaw/Blades
THe best super group, great harmony of singing between Blades and Shaw, and some killer riffs by Nugent
Great song and their other hits were good too. This was my favorite and then high enough.Stupid record company paid them a million not to do a third record in 92.
Best super group ever!!
Uds dos me caen bien me gustan sus reacciones, pero lo q mas me gusta es el estilo de esta muchacha, she’s amazing and he’s a good guy. Great band Damn Yankees. 👍🏻
you two need to watch on a big TV it's mind blowing. you have 4 rock stars in front of you and don't know it.
I saw them twice in concert
Coming of Age has got to be next. Jack Blades on lead vocals in that one. But Tommy Shaw, oh my did he bring the vocals on this tune.
Tommy is still one of the best singers in all of rock!! Few can write, sing and play guitar as well as he does all three!!
Them Damn Yankees! 😎 Checkout “can you take me high enough!”
Greatest supergroup of all time!!!
Damn Yankees the band formed in 1989, consisting of Tommy Shaw of Styx, Jack Blades of Night Ranger, Ted Nugent, and Michael Cartellone.
loved the whole Group! John Waite always had a fantastic voice!
???
@@michaeldover you got a problem?
Love me some Uncle Ted!!
Ted & Tommy amazing !!!!
I any believe you don't know who the was guitarist is. Just a legend
Dude that's Uncle Ted on leads, and natural falsetto on vocals Tommy shaw, with Jack night ranger on bass and vocals
The best Super Group thats ever been put together ❤️ 😎😎😎
What a lineup
Tommy Shaw (Styx)
Jack Blades (Night Ranger)
Ted Nugent
This is what ya get...
More Damned Yankees please!
Yeah. Damn Yankees. Super group time. Next try out-- double coyote man. 🤟🤟
Damn Yankees 'High Enough'
