Blondie I gotta add something. I knew the second he started singing you would love this. Your face said it all. Welcome to the 80s metal Blondie. This was their ballad and mega hit.
I'm a dude but I'm always a sucker for power ballads. You'll love these rock acoustic ballads Mr.big- I'm the one who wants to be with you or Extreme- more than words.
Same here. Call them "Hair Bands" all they want but I always loved the soft acoustic/clean guitar intros leading into the heavily distorted chorus. It gives more emotion and power than keeping it soft or heavy throughout and reinforces the intensity of the song.
Damn straight Damn Yankees are good, they consist of three of the best members from three great bands. Tommy Shaw of Styx, Jack Blades of Night Ranger and Ted Nugent. They joined together to create what they call a "Supergroup". Another Supergroup of the same era you should check out is Bad English who combined members of The Babys and Journey. Thank you for the video, lots of good memories spring from that era.
Four if you count Skynyrd. Damn Yankees was an American rock supergroup formed in 1989 consisting of Tommy Shaw of Styx, Jack Blades of Night Ranger, Ted Nugent of The Amboy Dukes, and Michael Cartellone (then an unknown drummer who would later join Lynyrd Skynyrd).
He is referred to as UNCLE Ted. If you do Not Rock, you better be Very, Very afraid when he comes on stage. Because he is about to take you behind the Musical woodshed and Punish you with some Severe Shredding. (lol,....see stranglehold!)
Im 36 now, and I was a little kid when this came out. My dad had this cassette tape and I played the hell out of it even back then in the car. Im surprised it didnt break as many times as I rewinded it and kept it in rotation. They were the ultimate supergroup of amazing vocals, writing, beautiful guitar work, and hard badass guitar shredding. Im gonna sound old as hell but they dont make em like this anymore.

You gotta love Ted Nugent doing what he does best as lead guitarist (25 years as a professional when this song was released) and letting the younger vocalist do what they do. This band identified nicely of what the hair metal bands of the 80's and 90's represented. 🤘🎸🔥
@@itscrazyal No one was asking you to come up with one. It is sufficient to say that many people have many criticisms of Ted Nugent, but his guitar playing shouldn't be one of them.
This is truly my favorite review by you. It's a great song, but your reaction to it is just AWESOME. Your enjoyment of the song is infectious and makes us love the song more. 'Guinea pigs yooz gonna stop?' 'Ooh...I love this!' 'Right, he's quite freaky.' 'It's my cup of tea' 'You may be able to dislike me, but I don't know how you can dislike that'. 😂 GREAT REVIEW. 👍 ❤
This band was incredible yet so short lived because they went back to their bands Jack Blades in Night Ranger,Tommy Shaw in Styx and Ted Nugent in his own band. Two albums is all they did.
They were paid to do so mainly because Ted refused to tour during hunting season and they were so good & the record company was too greedy. Ted only marches to the beat of his own drum, American bad-ass.
Thank you "insane blondie" for yet another great reaction to a very underated hard rock group of the 90's era!! and ....if u don;t mind me saying so.. (and with all due respect)..its always wonderful being able to admire the flawless complected beauty of your face while u are reacting to vids!!) Thank you and Keep em coming!! take care!
Tell your boyfriend that Tommy Shaw is one of the most progressive rock stars he is the master of his guitar playing and has released top notch chord progressions with his band Styx.
You need to get their 2 albums, its worth it. Tommy Shaw & Jack Blades have the vocal duets on any record. Coming of Age, Runaway, Tell Me How You Want It, The Silence is Over, Come Again, Where You Going Now are some of the best songs these guys have ever written. Ted Nugent(freaky guy with long hair) is a mad man on screen, and in real life.
As a young soldier I had a special tape of cheesy slow dance love ballads in my car for.....ahem....special activities. This was the last track on the tape. Good memories.
Glad you liked this...I bought this CD when it first came out(I'm that old), it's got alot of great songs. I still listen to it every now & then. I would love to see you react to more of them.
Yeah, it's my cup of tea also! Great power ballad with this classic 80's feeling, I love it! And I also love your reaction, dear Gergia, and your accent is so cute:-)
So as someone who lived through this era of music (the 80s) the rock ballad was what made most of the bands. The harmonies that Jack and Tommy would put to the vocals was outstanding. Their other ballad "Where you goin' now" from their next album was just as good, IMHO. If you like the sound of this, you REALLY should go and check out Revolution Saints "Light in the Dark" and "Wouldn't change a thing". Interestingly, the bassist from Revolution Saints is none other than Jack Blades of Damn Yankees (you'll recognize the voice) and the lead singer/drummer of Revolution Saints is Deen Castronovo who was the drummer for Bad English (worth a listen) and Journey. Deen also sounds alot like Steve Perry (formerly of Journey). Time to start going down the 80s rabbit hole Blondie. Cheers.
If you like this song, there is treasure trove of these 70's & 80's power ballad bands out there to discover. Nope. Completely ridiculous comment. Why would any of the members “perform” any of the other members parts for the video? All members, obviously, were present for the filming of the video, so they all performed the parts they recorded in the studio. “never understood why he was in the band to begin with”.... The guitarist with the zebra striped guitar (and was also the priest at the end) is Ted Nugent, who is also known as "The Motor City Madman." When I was in high school, back in the mid 1970s (yes, I'm that old!) he played an outdoor concert, and since I had to work that day, I couldn't go. Blondie listen to Damn Yankees other song Come Again it just as good and U might Like it better. Thanks for the Reaction. Both U and your Families have a Happy Holidays.
That’s because Tommy Shaw sings lead on Come Again. Jack Blades has a nice voice, but Shaw had a much higher range and more power. I always think that Shaw is one of the most underrated vocalists from the 70s and 80s. Even here, with the Damn Yankees, he could still hit some ridiculously high notes and sustain them. I have listened to some of his more recent recordings covering Damn Yankees and Styx songs and even at nearly 60 he can still hit every note and hold them just as long. That shows he used his voice properly and didn’t strain it like so many other singers did and they can’t hit the notes they did when younger.
@@InsaneBlondie Anytime you hear the singer leave their guts on the stage in angst over lost or unrequited love amongst the profound emotional release of someone shredding every important chord on the guitar... in an attempt to convey a soul bearing message to anyone who might listen... except for the intended girl (recipient... but it's almost always a girl...)

Another good artist and song you might like is “Texas Flood” by Stevie Ray Vaughn. His guitar skills are amazing! Sadly he died in a helicopter crash in 1990. He wasn’t very old. I wish he could’ve lived much longer.
Oh no😪! May he rest in peace! I'll definitely take a look!
Here’s a link to a good version of him singing the song. He plays it so good in this video!

Dunno if this has been mentioned as a suggestion yet, but if you're a fan of the power ballads, go for the big one: "Alone," by Heart.
If you like Damn Yankees please react to come again! Much better tune!
Oo cheers!
Your overbite is lovely
Please give a listen to Steve Via and Orathani / highly strung. I think you will enjoy it.
