    I literally cannot express how proud I am to have completed this, it took me about a week because I kept messing up but omg I am so glad I stuck through it. To anyone struggling like I was and feeling let down that other (way more experienced people) were able to do this first try, you've just gotta keep going and then once day we'll be as good as everyone else

      Apparently I did the hole thing backwards! When you show how to crochet into the front loop only you are working the “front” of the circle somehow I’ve been working the back the whole time. How can I decrease in this direction? 😅😭

      I am currently using a written down pattern for this, and that allows me to mark off stitches as I go, even offline! It also helps if I decide to stop before completing a round/row, so that I know exactly how many are left ;)
      Might not work for everyone, though! Like if you think you might forget to mark them as done or miscount anyway (maybe you could start saying, out loud or in your head, which stitch are you doing once you put your hook in, and then finishing the word once you finish the stitch? As in, "fi...ve, si...x, se...ven")
      A newbie here, but maybe something from this comment could help whoever is reading this!

      THIS IS MY THE BIGGEET PROBLEM. i keep miscounting my stitches - i can even say it outloud, like, "3, 3, 3, 3", then focus for a moment and then im like 'wait. which is it now? uhmmmm, 2?'

    • @siliconsulfide8
      @siliconsulfide8 11 місяців тому +3

      @@sabro7472 Maybe you could write them down? Write which row/round you are currently doing and draw a line, mark a stitch off (as in, writing the pattern down as 'sc sc sc inc' instead of '3sc inc' and then crossing them out one by one) or whatever works for you after every stitch? Theoretically you could still forget to mark them off, but perhaps it might help!

      A single stitch is one stitch, the little v shaped pattern on the top is a good indicator of what you’re looking for, when you increase you make multiple single stitches through one of your prior stitches to create more single stitches for you to work off of
      Sorry if this is a bad explanation, I’m pretty new myself and is what I’ve gathered from the video

    • @robinanna5531
      @robinanna5531 Місяць тому

      Increasing is putting two (or more) stitches into the same stitch on the previous row. That's how in this pattern row one has 6 stitches but row two has 12 stitches. Because you put two single crochets into each stitch you made in the row before.

      Hold on to the bottom of the magic circle to create tension and gain control until you've got a couple stitches secured. If you're new to crochet, you may need to master controlling the yarn with one hand and the hook with the other. The yarn is usually woven across the fingers to create a bit of tension but not too much. The yarn hand needs to be relaxed, allowing the yarn to move easily through the fingers. Find an experienced friend who can coach you through the basics. Don't give up. You'll be churning out amigurumi cuties in no time...

      @@apboycedo you think crocheting is harder or both are their own difficulty

    • @apboyce

      @@bribro23 I think knitting is easier but that's just because I learned it when I was still a teen. My best friend thinks crocheting is easier because that's what she learned first:). So I think it is just a matter of practicing until you get proficient and then you can probably do both equally well.

    This video was very good pointing out the difference between Amigurumi crocheting in the round verse basic crocheting in the round. It's a spiral verses concentric circles. Thanks

    I don't quite get how you increase from the 2nd t 3rd row. The second row is basically once every new stitch an increase, but it wasn't clear to me if that changed in the row after that

    • @olliehollycrochet

      Hi!
      To make a bigger ball, you'll have to work more increase rounds to make the initial circle bigger. Each increase round should be an additional 6 sts.
      You'll also have to work more side building rounds (the rounds where you just work one sc into each st) and play around with the shape that way.
      Hope this helps!

    I love how when you're showing something you put your hands directly over what you are doing without explaing how to do it, if it was easy to follow and actually showed what to do it might make it too easy for new people to the hobby. Please keep up the great work of keeping people from learning anything and just showing off how much you know.

    I bought a lot of stuff to start with Amigurumi last winter and failed miserably. I gave it some tries, however it never worked for me and even though I can knit, I did not really understand what I had to do when it came to crochet. Your tutorial changed that completely, I could finish the ball in 2-3 hrs and am confident to be able to do more of that. Thank you so much for the great video! ✨✨
