I've had to leave an amigurumi Facebook group because they kept getting so upset that my stitches were not x's and nobody would tell me how to make it "right" and they were so mean about it! I really appreciate your making this video so I can see what they were talking about.

Sorry you were treated so poorly. I started crocheting during Covid and discovered amigurumi and never looked back. I really like making gnomes.

When I taught myself to crochet years ago, the way I held my yarn, it seemed very natural to do the yu/yo method. I learned from a book with no pictures. So that is what I have always done. It wasn't until fairly recently that I realized I was doing it "wrong" lol. But right for amigurumi. Thank you for such a great and informative video.

Finally the most thorough and detailed video that covers all about single crochet yarn over and yarn under different techniques and comparisons!

I love this so much, as a person who has learned to crochet from videos on UA-cam I lack technical knowledge. Often the “whys” of crocheting are not included in tutorials, so when I make mistakes or notice my end result doesn’t match I don’t know how to correct it.

I have been given a dog-chewed teddy bear to try and repair and this video popped up the same day!
It has answered my question of whether the original maker used yo or yu - thank you for such a detailed, well-filmed video.

This is a goldmine of a video. I'm new to amigurumi and I'm so thankful for four whole different side by side comparisons and step by steps. I think I'm going to try changing my method of using my tension hand to maneuver the yarn instead of turning my hook to grab it. Gonna share this with my friends. Thank you so much. Hopefully these changes will reduce the likelihood of straining my arms and hands too ❤

I’ve been using yo/yu for years and didn’t know why my projects were so tightly woven. (I love this method, BTW. It’s second nature to me now.) Thanks so much for an informative, easy to follow video.

I love this video. I recently discovered that yu/yu works best for a tight amigurumi look, but find that combining yu/yo is faster with a similar tight look. Thank you for going through all the options 💜

Originally I just had this video on in the background while eating breakfast. You have such a good teaching voice and pacing though that both my husband and I stopped, grabbed some yarn, and started practicing along. 😂 Were both pretty beginner and this was super helpful

I’m not sure how I ended up down this rabbit hole. I don’t even do amigurumi and just realized after 20 years I yarn under 😂. Sometimes I do a yarn over yarn under depending on the stitch. Just seems to flow better for me and now I’m shocked because I haven’t been “yarning over” 😂😂😂

Your tension must be a little tighter to begin with. I have seen amigurumi with gaping holes that completely exposes the fiberfill. Plus working with cotton, you have very little to no stretch. I would like to see you do this with a worsted weight. Thank you for the clear explanation of the stitches.

I just realized that I accidentally used Yo/Yu, so the method almost nobody is using, the whole time. What I wanted to do was Yu but I kept making the first stich Yo. The stitches are indeed quite tight and hard to work through but I thought that‘s just the way it is.
