The cone head literally almost had me giving up on amigarumi completely, I never understood why it looked that way!! So glad I know now I can give this a try❤
I have literally never seen anyone color change like that...my mind is blown! That is just incredible and it will make such a difference with the look of my amigurumis! Thank you so much!!
I have seen so many people say they can help with color change but don’t actually show the seem at the end and when attempting myself it never works. Thank you so much for this!
WARNING to all... the color change trick will mess with your stitch count. After many trial-and-error attempts...I've concluded that you have to "continue as usual" starting in the stitch you went from behind in. So grab that loop from the inside, but when you continue, start in that same stitch, or else you'll be short a stitch for every color change.
No it doesn't. You're doing something wrong if it does, such as inserting your hook into the wrong space, thus creating an extra stitch. I made the same mistake when I first learned the technique some years ago... Though I use a different one now that creates a perfectly straight line color change, verses the little peaks that show in a classic color change.
@@gwendolynsantiago2091I believe they’re referring to one where you Do the standard “last pull through with new color” thing Then insert and on that yarn over use the color of whatever stitch you just went into Pull through and yarn over again with your new color Pull through and repeat, and now you have a clean color change instead of the lil triangles of color I don’t know if I explained that well and I havent used it myself too many times 😅 but you could probably find a good color change tutorial somewhere on the internet if you look hard enough :)
another tip for chenille yarn use a regular stranded yarn to make the magic ring and then put your chenille yarn stitches in to the ring, when you pull it closed it will be invisible
The cone head tip I learned a while ago but I wish I learned sooner. Depending on tension and yarn thickness you can start round 1 with 8 or 9 too if 12 makes it wavy
The color change was AMAZING. I have arthritis in both hands and yarning under gets very painful rather quickly. I had no idea but found out in a hurry.
Thank you for the tips regarding the rounded head vs. pointed head, the color change, and the yo vs. yu; all very helpful. But I would like to mention to anyone who is new to amigurumi that the Magic Ring is much better to use once mastered because then you don’t have an obvious hole that the alternative has, which can result in the stuffing coming out of your project.
Exactly what I have been looking for!! I have made a bunch of cone head Octos and have been looking for a tutorial to fix them!! This is perfect. Thank you!!
The cone head one!! I've been struggling with that for weeks and I could not understand what I did wrong! I will try your way tonight and see if it makes a difference.
I came to this video just looking to learn how to avoid a cone head shape on my projects. But wow! The color change technique blew my mind! This is an excellent video the pacing is perfect and you can see everything clearly. Thank you for the clear and slow explanation. ❤ SAVED.
Obsessed with these bright orange nails! Especially against the pastel yellow yarn also thanks for the tips. Def helped me figure out how to have a fatter top of the head in amigurumi
The cone head trick just changed my life 😭 Up until now I've just altered every pattern I've used that starts with 6 single crochet in a magic ring to 8 and adjusted my stitch count from there accordingly. Which is like 20x more math than I apparently needed to be doing lmao
I'm so glad the algorithm pushed your video my way! I've never had the cone-head problem before, but I've been frustrated so many times by color changes and had no idea there was a difference between yarn-over and yarn-under. Thank you so much!
I have Watched a ton of videos for tips and tricks. And none of them have shown me anything new until I've watched your video today!! Thank you very much for all of your tips and tricks, because everything you showed is stuff that I've been trying to work on and figure out on my own, and you've just saved me hours of time, and so much frustration trying to figure it out.Thank you so very much for sharing your knowledge!! I truly appreciate it!! Now My day hasn't been wasted because I learned something new!! Thank-You sooo very much!!
Thank you so much for sharing these tricks! I’ve not been crocheting very long and ALL of your methods help me crochet better as I have run into all of these problems. My little creatures look ever so much cuter now!
Great tips! I am going to try the color change. I was doing something similar but the final step of moving ahead one stitch I wasn't doing. Thanks so much!
All amazing tips, so thank you so much! The ones that helped me the most were: the pattern one 2:26, and the color changing one 3:44! Again thank you so much for the tips, this video really helped me. ❤
You are a wonderful teacher & gifted crafter. Thank you for sharing your insights. I want to try to color change as seamless as you did ❤. Keep sharing great ideas! Thank you!!
Thank you so much!!! I was always curious about number 5. When I first started amiagrumi I was thought yarn over I need to practice with yarn under more. And the head shape hack! Genius! I don’t like how all my plushies I’ve made have cone heads 😅
Truly excellent tips. Thank you! Definitely going to try the color change method--I deplore the jags, and typically do the F.O., cut, start new color method, to eliminate them. But it's SO time-consuming, especially if your color changes every other row! Glad I saw your method. For YO v. YU in amigurumi, I actually do the Yarn Under for the 1st half of the stitch, and a Yarn Over for the final step of the stitch. It's not quite as compact as doing YU for both steps, but it certainly has drastically improved the look of my amigurumi projects (i.e., no stuffing showing through). The modified form of stitch tightens up your amigurumi, without it being so tight (especially if you're using cotton) that your hand, arm, and neck ache from the extremely tight tension that the both-step-YU method can cause.
THANK YOU FOR THE TIP OF THE VELVET YARN!! im a beginner of 3-6 days of crocheting and i was learning how to close the magic circle with velvet yarn but it just wouldn't budge.. but when i saw that this video had tips of the velvet yarn on magic circle, i watched it and i got it!! tysm ily

I really needed the Cone Head to Round Head trick!! I've been looking for a solution to this. Glad I came across this video. Thanks so much 🫶🏾 I can finally do a normal penguin 😂
This was seriously an amazing video, thank you sooo much! BTW I am new working with plush yarn and I find it quite hard to find each stich cause it's all so fluffy and messy, is there any tip so that I can easily figure each stich and not miss any!? ?
Wow excellent tips I've never seen before. Ive been crocheting for many years, but not amigurumi. The yarn under the or tighter stitches & joining rows with a color change were new to me - brilliant. Ty for sharing.
I've had great success with removing the conehead. I also found I could fix a too-steep cone by increasing the size of my hook. With regard to pulling closed a MR with chenille yarn, I learned this from a different YT: pull the centre yarn the wrong way first, just a little. Most of the time it will then pull closed smoothly.
The color changes in yarn trick is gonna be a GAME CHANGER for me! Thank you!! Also thank you for the dome head trick and how to MR chenille yarn! I haven't used it it yet, but it's good to know!
I just saw your channel and I am so glad I did. I due amigurumi and somewhat new at it. I love the color change technique . I will watch and practice all the techniques shown especially the yarn over vs. yarn under. Thank you!
All this time I have been frustrated by the cone head. No matter what I tried it did not change it! I started crocheting some years ago but this only started happening to me last year???? Go figure! So there was a HUGE sigh of relief here when I watched this. Thank you so much. 🤩
I just started making plushies and have had ones turn out way bigger and the cone head too. My next plushies I am trying your tricks for sure !!!!!!!! Makes me super excited that I am not crazy and get to try these simple tricks. Thank you !!!!
Wonderful tips! I can’t wait to try your color change method. Love getting rid of the cone head. Magic ring with chenille yarn gives me fits and I use the alternate method but will definitely try again using your tip.
Oh, wow! Recently I couldn't understand why, even though I am doing the exact same patterns, they turn out smaller. I changed my crochet process from yarn over to yarn under! Now I know! I almost got razy here the last couple of days. Hahaha. Thanks so much for sharing this! All of them are very useful tips! If you know more useful informations it would be really helpful to share them with us! I used so many exclamation marks in this comment, oopsie

It also looks like yarn under helps to keep the rounds/rows straight, and easier to count. Which is the issue I am struggling with. My stitches look so messy. But I have also only been doing this for less then a week, and I have only made two very small things. So I know I will get better in time. These tips I am sure will help. I will try to follow them.
