Motorhead is a must listen of the metal genre. If you want to hear more like Motorhead, Tank is really good as well and I would love to see more people react to them.
So i guess you're not afraid of the band's name anymore :) Their earliest albums were very important to the development of heavy metal in the 80s. And yeah they have a lot of short songs but those pack a punch! Also for other bands with a bassist singer, you should check out Thin Lizzy (Irish hard rock band): jailbreak - emerauld - bad reputation - dancing in the moonlight - waiting for an alibi - roisin dubh Budgie (very underrated Welsh band, sounds a lot like Black Sabbath!): guts - rocking man - breadfan - baby please don't go - in for the kill - crash course in brain surgery and also Rush! (i can't really recommend songs though bc i don't listen to them much)
I've filmed a Rush video, so look out for that! And noooo I am not afraid of MOTORHEAD anymore. But still scared of every black metal band ever lol. yea they're important for the NWOBHM right? I'm trying my best to learn haha yes Thin Lizzy is on my radar!
@@kirawasareactor That's great, Rush are a favorite of many people! Yeah Motorhead was important to the NWOBHM movement, though they were a bit early. Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Angel Witch and Saxon were probably the most important bands from that genre. And yay really looking forward to a Thin Lizzy reaction!
Kira, you hit the nail right on the head. Back in the day we considered Motorhead metal but looking back it's more a hybrid of punk, rockabilly, southern rock sped up in a progressive hard rock style lol. It's honestly much much more than metal it's pure genius. For the other side of the band, you might wanna check out I Don't Believe a Word and Killed By Death.
I just started watching these youtube reactions a little while ago since they started coming up on my page. Being a songwriter, musician and vocalist myself I was only looking for music related projects. Your reactions just started popping up on my page a few days ago so I watched some of them. You're to cool. You're having so much fun that it's like watching a party. I was waiting to see some balloons. You do a great job.
Hi Kira, Great. Video, reaction to it and I love the your analysis on it. Can't wait to become a part of your patreon in a couple of days. I was a little surprised that you liked Motorhead as much as you did and I could see that you definitely did!!!!
Wonderful reaction and yeah, Motörhead really are one of my all time favorites, it was part of the essential classics to get into way back when I was a little teenage metalhead, but even though my tastes these days are far broader, Motörhead much like Black Sabbath, will always be a band I'll be listening to. I didn't think I was more than a casual fan but when Lemmy died it really hit me hard, especially because I had had plenty opportunity to seen them live but never found myself the time and money. I mean, I was pretty sure Lemmy was immortal. His legacy is though.
The «story » behingd genesis of Overkill is that one time the drummer bought a double drum, and wanted to try it on a new track 😁 so they let him start, ìmprovised a bit on bass and guitar parts, recorded it, and why it is restarting 2 times, was just because they had so much fun recording it (one shot take), they started over and again 😂 Overkill was born !!!
About the bass, you probably thought it was a guitar (the first riff in overkill, for example, is the bass)... About the drums, all songs you listened was Phil "Animal" Taylor.. one of the best! The coolest band on earth
@@kirawasareactor who would win a wrestling match between Lemmy and god? Trick question, Lemmy is god! (Dialogue from airheads, a fun movie with metalheads as the protagonists)
Definitely hope you check out Iron Maiden soon, especially their newer albums like "a matter of life and death" or "the final frontier". Definitely their most underapreciated albums (and their best imo)
It's always better to go chronologically as you can with bands. The early albums are usually the most pungent, and establish everything a band is to become.
Lemmy did bass exactly the opposite way than your supposed to, ie, lowered the bass and treble, and raised the mids, played chords instead of arpegios etc. very unique individual, he did everything his way, and damn the torpedos
That "mystery sound" is the electric bass in conjunction with what is referred to as a "d-beat". There's some homework for you as D-BEAT hardcore is a whole genre in itself, inspired by Motorhead and Stoke on Trent's legendary Discharge.
Same Stoke-on-Trent Lemmy was from too :D real fun to see how often the d-beat is mentioned in this comment section, you d-beat maniacs knew it 5 seconds into the first song, seeing this lovely girl grooving - the unmistakable groove of someone who has d-beat pattern for a pulse, even if she doesn't know it yet :D
I saw Motorhead live on virtually every UK tour from 1989 till Lemmy passed and when they started the show Lemmy would always say "We are Motorhead and we play Rock 'n' Roll" so is it Metal? No it's Rock n Roll.
Another reaction of yours I really enjoyed, seen all your metal ones from the start and was looking forward to this! And like everyone else, when watching it shouting "that's the heavy/distorted bass!" when you said "I can't hear the bass" and "what's that sound?". Lemmy was unique. As for that fast drumming on Overkill, drummer Phil Taylor said he got fed up seeing bands with double bass/kick drums and not using them, so he got a set up like that in the studio to try it out, see if he could do it. He was practicing when Lemmy and Eddie Clarke arrived, they heard it outside and said whatever you're doing, keep doing it! Overkill came out of that. Legendary, for all the fast metal bands it kicked off (pun intended!). Mike P

You are quickly becoming one of my favorite reactors. Your energy and enthusiasm are a real treat to see. It was particularly gratifying watching you discover Motorhead, a band that doesn't fit into any category, but is its own category by itself. You got it right away: instead of shying away from the velocity and noise, you jumped up and danced. Is it Metal? Is it Punk? Is it something else? Yes it is - it's Motorhead, and that's all you ever have to say. There's a reason you're confused by the bass on Motorhead songs. Most bassists will either follow the melody, play a counter-melody, or just play the root notes of the chords, but always an octave lower than the guitar. Not Lemmy. He's actually strumming the full chords, in the same octave as the guitar. The "what the hell is that?" sound is Lemmy's bass part. It's exactly like having two guitars playing the same part, except one of the guitars sounds like a Rickenbacker bass - because it is. There may not be as much low-frequency sound as you'd expect, but the sound in the frequencies where they do play is just crushingly intense. As for the drums . . . there is no reasonable explanation for Philthy Animal Taylor. Motorhead were the complete road-dogs: they toured constantly. I personally saw them open for Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest (on two different tours), Ozzy Osbourne, Guns N' Roses, Metallica, Megadeth and Slayer. They never once failed to deliver onstage, and the headliners had to work their asses off to come up to Motorhead's level.. Somebody who didn't lose their job when the 'Rona hit, please send this young lady a Motorhead T-shirt. She needs that iconic image to further her Metal identity. (Sorry, you can't have mine; I've had it since 1981, and it's still a cornerstone of MY Metal identity.)
Jumping about on your feet like that is the only correct way to react to metal. I wish more reactors were as fast learners as you. You've got a new sub!
Not me avoiding your original metal reaction video after months of it being in my recommendations lol rip but I finally got around to it and I’ve been binging your videos today! Super fun reactions, high quality content, subbed ofc.
Overkill was a really influential song when it comes to metal drumming. Looking forward to the Iron Maiden video. I'd also suggest a band named Mercyful Fate especially their song "Melissa". I think you'd get a kick out of them.
Motörhead is mostly known for their fast-pace bangers, but Lemmy wrote a sh*t ton of great songs, a lot of medium paced songs and even some ballads. There is not a single Motörhead album you can call bad. He was a mistermind. As much as I love their fast paced stuff, sometimes I feel like Lemmy doesn't get enough recognition as a song writer, beacuse the fast stuff is all people are aware of. Anyways, great reaction! No wonder you had to dance! "On your feet you feel the beat, it goes straight to your spine / Shake your head you must be dead if it don't make you fly"
This is oldschool motorhead. Late 70s, early 80s.. but ANY and all Motorhead eras are amazing.. over their entire 40 year history. Other great songs are "I am the Sword", "I Ain't no nice guy", "1916", "Doctor Rock", "Angel City", "Smilin Like a Killer", "Orgazmatron", and "March or Die".. also their covers of the Stones "Sympathy for the Devil" and Bowie's "Heroes" are incredible.
It is great to see a young punk rocker appreciate some of the fathers of heavy metal , in which probably some of your punk bands may have been inspired from Motorhead & other famous bands! Great review ,dig deeper in the archives ,it gets insane in the rocking world from generation to generation!...Love your content!...✨....👍
Lemmy wrote the song Motorhead while he was still in the band Hawkwind. Lemmy of course chose the name for his next band, the song was added to their first album and the album was titled after both. He sang lead on a few HW tracks, most notably "Silver Machine", which reached number 3 on the UK charts in 1972. Worth a listen if you find time.
Motorhead has been a favorite of mine since the early 80's. Just can't get enough of them. Im a runner and have been running to Motorhead for over 25 years now, so what other 55 yr old runs to Motorhead?!! I do and love it!!!
We are Motörhead and we play Rock’n’Roll. Once you’re into Motörhead, nothing else compares. Lemmy plays bass like no one else. The bass is a constant driving force through all of their tracks. So glad you enjoyed it. Take care.
Wow, really enjoyed this. It seems you have a feel for groove and melodic harmonies that I mostly find in the UK music scene, and it really speaks to me too. Seeing you get lost in the groove and describe what you're grooving to - even if you just say "the drums!", I know you're feeling what I'm feeling (instead of focusing on lyrics or technicalities like many others do in their reactions). It brings the music alive, keep doing this. Btw what you said about the drums and the mix was really spot on and it's not a superficial observation. As you now know Lemmy's bass sounds almost like a rhythm guitar which frees up a lot of space in the low end for the drums in the mix, that's why even though the drums have a very busy pattern - they keep all the sound/volume dynamics and definition, so you can hear and feel almost every beat while retaining the comfortable, soft sound of the drums. And it becomes this wave that just lifts you up and carries you and you don't want it to ever stop. And like many others in this comment section, can't wait for you to discover your love for d-beat haha, even if it takes time
Oh, and those post-punk bands you mentioned - have you heard Iceage? I've checked out Shame you mentioned and liked them, I think the first two records by Iceage should be right up your alley too.

Freeze-frame facial expression @ 0:14 then again @ 11:10 - that's what the 'I've just listened to Motorhead' experience does. These tracks are four decades old but still manage to blow-away so much that's happened between then 'n now - especially now.
lemmy is god. this was patiently waited for. I really enjoy seeing you go through these bands that i have been listening to for years. i just wonder if you will ever get to the music i really love most which is black metal. its a long road to prepare you for that evil beast of metal. but starting off with the classics are a must and i enjoy it very much!!!

Awesome as always, Kira! These are classic and earlier songs by Motorhead. For the future I would like to recommend some actual stuff and more heavy slow sound, like: Bad Religion - Dogs of War - English Rose - In The Name of Tragedy - Teach You How to Sing The Blues - Lost Woman Blues (awesome slow blues)
I can feel the wibe on "time to punch" After an Motörhead concert (and a bottle of Jack Daniels) we listen to Motörhead all the way home on full blast mode on the Overkill stereo I had at the time, when rocking along to bomber I punched a big star in the windscreen... It was worth it. 🤘

motorhead had the rare quality of melody, in each song......
Saw Motorhead live 6 times and they are hard, fast, wall shaking Rock'n'Roll, Awesome, loved by metal and punk fans,
My first time was the Another Perfect Tour, with Robbo, which was hilarious and awesome at the same time! They - especially Lem - have taken some of my hearing. It was worth it.
The way she moves when she's enjoying its like every tuff headbanger felt inside
Gonna be honest i went true covid and got really depressed. This reaction made me extremely happy i cant even explained it.
That sucks! I hope this isn't presumptuous of me, but have you heard of BAND-MAID? Their music always makes me feel better when I'm down, and if you're here you like good rock and roll, right? Check out any of their live performances, but Freedom from Feb 14, 2020 always makes me so happy.
@@iDEATH oh no, thanks. Ofc i know them. Not my first pick but very fun band.

The Warning: Three teenage girls from Mexico, sisters. Their 2nd album, Queen of the Murder Scene, is a concept album/rock novel, which is best listened to in album order because it tells a linear story, and live because of the energy of their performance with an audience. The following links are from their 2019 concert at Foro Didi, which I consider their finest performance. Through technical difficulties, they push on giving professionals a lesson to aspire to. One particular technical issue caused a version of the second track I find more immersive than it ever was before. A failure with an acoustic guitar grants the song a whole other dimension I feel contains depth already there but certainly stronger.
Anyway, here's links for your viewing and listening pleasure, and please do watch as well as listen...

Well now that you've heard Motörhead, I think it's time to do some Saxon, Iron Maiden, and Mercyful Fate
Oooohhhh, Mercyful Fate, YASSSS!!!
Man your taste is dead-on. All those bands Metallica grew up on were the best.
This is literally the best Motorhead reaction ever. You made my day
They used to end all their gigs with overkill and those false endings were always insane i withnessed it myself 🙃
Motorhead is a must listen of the metal genre. If you want to hear more like Motorhead, Tank is really good as well and I would love to see more people react to them.
FNA TANK!
You should do Brotherhood of Man, and Orgasmatron! Motorhead forever! Or do Hawkwind - Silvermachine (first band of Lemmy).
omg Orgasmatron hahaahah i love that name
@@kirawasareactor the songs is like a train on speed. And brotherhood of man is the ultimate motorcycle song, ever
fuck yea these did to be done
@@erwinamesz7642 Speedfreak, I love that track

Motorhead and we play fucking rock n roll 🤘😉
Vernon you're the best
@@kirawasareactor thank you kira, enjoy darling 🤘😘
So i guess you're not afraid of the band's name anymore :) Their earliest albums were very important to the development of heavy metal in the 80s. And yeah they have a lot of short songs but those pack a punch!
Also for other bands with a bassist singer, you should check out
Thin Lizzy (Irish hard rock band): jailbreak - emerauld - bad reputation - dancing in the moonlight - waiting for an alibi - roisin dubh
Budgie (very underrated Welsh band, sounds a lot like Black Sabbath!): guts - rocking man - breadfan - baby please don't go - in for the kill - crash course in brain surgery
and also Rush! (i can't really recommend songs though bc i don't listen to them much)
I've filmed a Rush video, so look out for that!
And noooo I am not afraid of MOTORHEAD anymore. But still scared of every black metal band ever lol.
yea they're important for the NWOBHM right? I'm trying my best to learn haha
yes Thin Lizzy is on my radar!
Budgie cover of baby please dont go is best one i ever heard (and there was like hundreds of them).
@@tomekgulash ikr their version is so good! really like how you can truly hear the bass throughout the whole song
@@tomekgulash ted nugents version is brilliant.
Overkill introduced the double bass drum to metal. Philthy Animal Taylor RIP
"How do you play drums like this?" With SPEED.
And thus she is slowly turning into a metalhead
Slowly???
Excellent reaction to some great classics 👍🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
R.I.P. lemmy, fast eddie and philthy animal taylor.
Youre reactions are very genuine ! It remind me the first time y heard motorhead, metallica, and i play drums now! Greetings from Chile🤘🏻🍻
”What’s that sound?...”
Answer: that’s the sound of non-digital drums. Priceless.
Me and my brother played Ace of spades full volume at our dad's funeral wake in November, I'm sure he heard it ,miss you dad x
RIP Lemmy.. your enthusiasm is awesome Kira thank you for sharing... Take care.
Ace of Spades. Overkill. Iron Fist...Some of Motorheads Best ♠️ 🖤❤
Motörhead is the band that had always united punks and metalheads :)
fun fact about Lemmy: he used to be in Jimi Hendrix's crew in the 60s
About the bass, you probably thought it was a guitar (the first riff in overkill, for example, is the bass)...
About the drums, all songs you listened was Phil "Animal" Taylor.. one of the best!
The coolest band on earth
Lemmy is actually the best thing ever
@@freddyfleal omg he is an ANIMAL!!!
I definitely do check out Iron Maiden soon!
@@kirawasareactor The Talisman live is a must listen!
One of the greatest bands of all time. I love your reactions. It’s easy to tell how much you really appreciate music and I love that.
Mike P
Perfectly reasonable newcomers: "Oh wow, it's super fast, reminds me of punk, it's got amazing guitar rides and cavalcading drums, what do you guys call it ?"
We rabid metalheads: * S P E E D * >: [
Listen to "Live 79" from Hawkwind . Lemmy the bass player come from that band . If you wanna dive into space.
Nice propic of Blue Öyster Cult
Jumping about on your feet like that is the only correct way to react to metal. I wish more reactors were as fast learners as you. You've got a new sub!
They're motorhead and they play rock and roll🤘😎
your reaction echoes my own reaction when I first heard motörhead. THEE DRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMSS!!!
It is a delight to watch your reaction. Your enthusiasm is infectious!
Not me avoiding your original metal reaction video after months of it being in my recommendations lol rip but I finally got around to it and I’ve been binging your videos today! Super fun reactions, high quality content, subbed ofc.
YES! Love these guys! Talk about high energy! Keep Rocking!!! 🤘🏻✌🏻
Ace of Spades has to be Motörhead's most iconic song. Love them. I'm glad you gave them a listen and enjoyed them.
Overkill was a really influential song when it comes to metal drumming. Looking forward to the Iron Maiden video. I'd also suggest a band named Mercyful Fate especially their song "Melissa". I think you'd get a kick out of them.
Love Lemmy's voice. I think Iron Horse/Born To Lose might be my favorite Motorhead. I find it inspiring and sad at the same time.
No Sleep Til Hammersmith version for sure
Motörhead is mostly known for their fast-pace bangers, but Lemmy wrote a sh*t ton of great songs, a lot of medium paced songs and even some ballads. There is not a single Motörhead album you can call bad. He was a mistermind. As much as I love their fast paced stuff, sometimes I feel like Lemmy doesn't get enough recognition as a song writer, beacuse the fast stuff is all people are aware of. Anyways, great reaction! No wonder you had to dance! "On your feet you feel the beat, it goes straight to your spine
/ Shake your head you must be dead if it don't make you fly"
One of the greatest lyricists in all of Rock 'n' Roll. Really.
Back in the late 70's Motorhead was the one metal bands that punks embraced with open arms.
No voices in the sky is among the finest
It is great to see a young punk rocker appreciate some of the fathers of heavy metal ,
in which probably some of your punk bands may have been inspired from Motorhead &
other famous bands!
Great review ,dig deeper in the archives ,it gets insane in the rocking world from generation
to generation!...Love your content!...✨....👍
this band is timeless and will always be brilliant. everybody loves them, punks metalheads rockers, anybody, really.
glad you like them.
Im a runner and have been running to Motorhead for over 25 years now, so what other 55 yr old
runs to Motorhead?!! I do and love it!!!
We are Motörhead and we play Rock’n’Roll. Once you’re into Motörhead, nothing else compares. Lemmy plays bass like no one else. The bass is a constant driving force through all of their tracks. So glad you enjoyed it. Take care.
So good to see you enjoying real music . Motorhead will never die
The best versions of all of these songs are on the No Sleep til Hammersmith live record.
Live Bomber is insane!
ooomg what kira i think im obsessed with that first song i love the energy lol
Love watching you react to most of my favorite music of all time. 😬🥰 (and that Phil Taylor was amazing)
This is the first video I've seen from you and your already my favorite because you were jumping around your room while jamming to motorhead😂 instant sub lol please do more motorhead
As Lemmy used to say: "Rock and Roll is the only religion, It'll never let you down"
Best live band ever. Had the pleasure every year they came around. 😎
Vintage Motorhead, Fast furious and full of Thunder .. amazing live RIP Lemmy he gave us lots of head banging tunes
'What's that sound?' Actually a combination of bass slap and ... the spoons! Yep! It's true! 😃
Hey Kira....I love the way you respond to the music and have intelligent observations regarding structure and instrumentation. Your enthusiasm and open mindedness is truly infectious! Perhaps try Queensryche - 'I don't believe in Love' and 'Jet City Woman'!
Lemmy always said "we are motorhead, we play rock n roll" 😊👌🏻
I love all Motorhead albums but my go to album is "Inferno" with great songs like "Killers" and "In the name of tragedy'.
I'm 38 and have listened to rock music since 13. Only last yeat I met Lemmy's music, and there is no going back now ♠️
I think the sound you were hearing in the drums was Phil opening and closing the Hi-Hat cymbals during Ace of Spades.
When you will do Mercyful Fate don't forget songs like "Corpse without soul" and " Come to the Sabbath"
Lots of punks/post punks had Motorhead on the back of their jackets with The Ramones ,The Damned ...
My first ever concert aged 15 years old was Motorhead at Bingley Hall, Stafford, England 26th July 1980. I was hooked there and then and saw them again and again at the Hammersmith Odeon, London. The loudest band in the world, my ears felt like they were bleeding
Awesome as always, Kira! These are classic and earlier songs by Motorhead. For the future I would like to recommend some actual stuff and more heavy slow sound, like:
Bad Religion - Dogs of War - English Rose - In The Name of Tragedy - Teach You How to Sing The Blues - Lost Woman Blues (awesome slow blues)
I love your reactions on Bomber !!! And the rest👍🏻❤️🕺🏼 (i Think i had quite the same when i listened to them the first time, loooooong ago in 1980..)
I can feel the wibe on "time to punch"
After an Motörhead concert (and a bottle of Jack Daniels) we listen to Motörhead all the way home on full blast mode on the Overkill stereo I had at the time, when rocking along to bomber I punched a big star in the windscreen...
It was worth it. 🤘
Love watching your unrestrained reactions
Roggin’! I got into Motorhead about the same time as Hardcore punk bands. When it comes to that I recommend Discharge - “Hear Nothing Say Nothing”, G.B.H.-“City Baby Attacked By Rats”. You bring out nastolgic memories because I had the same reaction in 1984. I was 17.
