It makes me so happy that Amber has been transformed into a hard rock/metalhead!! We need more women in our ranks!! If a Harley, a bottle of Jack, and a pack of Marlboro's could sing... it would sound like Lemmy. He walked the walk for sure and influenced so many bands I love!

Fun reaction. Whole song was inspired by Philthy's new double bass drum setup, and the noise he could make on it. Song has 3 endings because it's overkill, of course. You should imagine it at 120 db, where you feel it as much as hear it. Lemmy said we play rock and roll, we just play it louder and faster than anyone else. Amber's discovered "the joy" of Motorhead. Give her a few more tunes and she'll be ready for Live "Everything Louder than Everyone Else". Some suggestions: Back At the Funny Farm, Orgasmtron (Lemmy opines on war, politics & religion), I'm So Bad Baby I Don't Care, some really late career tune (Runaround Man, Get Back In Line, In the Name of Tragedy).

I attended the US festival in '82 with a crowd of 670,00; Monsters of Rock, '91 with an estimated attendance of 77,000. Yet a Motorhead concert has the most diverse crowd I've ever seen. Bikers, punk rockers, hairbags(like I was), country fans, clean cut fans, hippie fans, groups of Samoan fans, groups of Latino fans, you name it. Everyone got along peacefully.

First saw Motorhead in 1978 and then followed them round the Midlands until the mid 80s when I got married and my (now ex) wife decided I needed to be a grown up. This song came about when Phil was getting used to his new double bass drums and Lemmy wrote it around Phil's practicing. Love this band and particularly this line up. Yeah, our hair was blown back, the 2nd time we saw them was early 80s, point blank, leaning on the stage at the old Agora Ballroom in W Hartford CT. Lemmy was 3 freaking feet away, sweating like crazy, barking out lyrics and playing like a man possessed. As soon as they turned on their amps we knew we were in for it. Great show, I'll never forget, ears rang for 2 days and minor hearing loss. Well worth it. The first time it was loud as Hell but not like that, we were in the New Haven Colloseum as they were opening for Ozzy Osbourne with Randy Rhodes on lead guitar. There has not been a harder-rocking power-trio than Motorhead's original line-up of Lemmy, guitarist Fast Eddie Clarke and drummer Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor. This song, "Bomber", "Dead Men Tell No Tales", "All The Aces", "(We Are The) Road Crew", "Love Me Like A Reptile", not to mention the actual song "Motorhead", the song Lemmy took with him when he was kicked out of his previous band, Hawkwind ( "Motorhead" was actually the B-side to Hakwind's last single w/ Lemmy). You guys may actually dig Hawkwind- if you were to cross the heavy riffs and pummeling rhyrhms of early Black Sabbath, with the keyboards and spacy jams of early Pink Floyd- that's Hawkwind (especially Lemmy- period Hawkwind).

Motorhead are great, such a brutally honest, down to Earth, unapologetic musical force, they had the best intro of any band I've ever seen, no fireworks and pyrotechnics, no big curtain drop with intro music, they'd just come out on stage, pick up their instruments, Lemmy would wait until everyone was ready to go, then he'd step up to the microphone and say
"We are Motorhead, we are from England, we play Rock and Roll!"
    ...Then the chaos ensued

Opening for them were the Cromags, Scratch Acid, and the Plasmatics. I'm pretty sure that show was responsible for some of the tinnitus I have now.

He ended up punching Steven Spielberg in the mouth and then subsequently lost the part to Robert Shaw. Phil 'Philthy Animal' Taylor (drums) got a double bass drum set and kept practicing in 1978, and 'Overkill' came out from those sessions in 1979... His drumming set a new standard for frantic playing and inspired so many metal drummers in the 80's, including Lars Ulrich of Metallica, Charlie Benante of Anthrax, Tom Hunting of Exodus, Michel 'Away' Langevin of Voivod, Abaddon of Venom, Dave Grohl of Nirvana/ Foo Fighters, etc...
Motorhead was pure, heavy rock n' roll... and their musical impact was felt in the 80's and beyond... even if the band was only somewhat successful commercially (They did have a #1 album in the UK in 1981 - the live record 'No sleep til Hammersmith'). Major bands like Guns N' Roses, Skid Row, Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, Green Day, Metallica, Megadeth, Motley Crue, Anthrax... all cited Motorhead as an influence. And they were more musical than they get credit for... 🤘🤘R.I.P. Lemmy, Philthy, and 'Fast' Eddie (guitar) 😪
More Motorhead songs - 'Deaf forever'... 'Killed by death'... 'Eat the rich' ... 'Bomber'... 'Dancing on your grave' ... 'Metropolis'... 'The one to sing the blues' ... 'The chase is better than the catch'... 🔥🔥

It's great Ambers embracing this band! Grew up listening to Motorhead (& Hawkwind), I was introduced to them through my brothers, who are quite a bit older than me. I was only a squirt when the Ace of Spades charted but I watched it on the telly. They used to ride old British bikes & go to all the festivals. I was born partially deaf, so we used to joke Motorhead was the only band loud enough for me!😂

One thing that really stands out about Motorhead is the bass tone. Absolutely unique, completely cranked up classic Rickenbaker bass guitar… so good, sharp and rusty at the same time. I have never heard anything that sounds close to Lemmy’s bass, ever!

Motorhead was known for being the loudest band in the world! Only saw them once on a double-bill with WASP in the '90s. Motorhead went on first and came out about 30 minutes late. Lemmy strolled out, spit his cigarette across the stage and said, "Sorry we're late, but WASP needed a soundcheck....F@$! A SOUNDCHECK!", then started the show! One of my favorite concert memories! 🤘

Might I recommend Lemmys autobiography “White Line Fever”. A guy who was there at literally the beginning of rock and roll, and really managed to become the living embodiment of the music he played. Really well written and a fascinating life story to cover. And like the man said at the beginning of every show: “We are Motorhead… and we play rock and roll!”
And might I also recommend the live version of “Iron Horse/Born to Lose”, and the song Lemmy did with Dave Grohl from Foo Fighters side project Probot called “Shake Your Blood”.

Well, I'm still panting for "Killed by Death", but this doesn't exactly suck. Kicking it HARD.
That said, "Killed by Death" *please*. (Preferably live.)
Also "Bomber", "Orgasmatron", "Evolution", "Going to Brasil", "I Don't Believe a Word" and what is arguably the capper on the career, "God Was Never on Your Side".
    But "Killed by Death" first.
