I started to cry when your mum said "that's what mums are for." It was such an endearing remark 🥰 This video was absolutely lovely. The wildflowers are the prettiest I've ever seen. I'm so excited for your new endeavors and really appreciate all your hard work. Happy Sunday Miranda and Donna!
I love seeing you and your mother. My mother and I were just like y’all are, best friends! Even when I was in school I had rather of been with her than any of my friends! We had always said when we got older we would own a quilt shop together. Unfortunately she acquired Alzheimer’s and all plans changed. Hug your mother extra hard for me and enjoy every moment! Your channel is so calming! Thank you! ❤
You’re so welcome, Carol! Mothers and daughters can have such a special relationship, and I’m so sorry you didn’t get to start a quilt shop or have more time with yours, but what lovely memories you shared! ❤️🌹
Happy Sunday, Miranda and Donna! I like so much when you are going to gardens, cafes and certainly bookshops and taking us along with you. Winnie-the-Pooh edition is gorgeous. Thank you for your heartwarming channel!
I feel so lucky- 3 of my favorite bookish channels posted today! Your mom looked so lovely 🌹 there's this saying that "so and so is so precious, we must protect her at all costs!" And that is exactly how I feel about her 😂 The abbey is stunning and the bookshop seems so lovely. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into these vlogs. ❤❤
So lovely to see Donna reading Daphne du Maurier short stories! I always feel that, outside of maybe The Birds and Don’t Look Now, her short stories don’t get as much recognition as her novels, and I think she was an absolutely brilliant short story writer. Thank you for taking us with you on your adventures this week!
Your lighter hair colour looks beautiful! Your mum chilling in that beautiful garden reading Daphne Du Maurier - not sure you could spend your time any better! ☺
Thank you so much for taking us for a ride with you two, when you insert videos shot from the moving car it feels real and it's like going back to Yorkshire again. Great video, great job. What intrigue with the next news that is coming! xxx
The highlights really suit you! I so agree that the lift in color really does give a little lift to the spirit, too. From the gardens to the food and drink and books and the interactions between you and the "book whisperer" (love that!), this was so enjoyable. And, as always, a real work of art. Thank you!
Thank you so much, Pamela for all your support! I’m so happy you enjoyed the video, and I really appreciate all your support! Hope you’re having a good week! 📚❤️💐xxx
Your lovely ‘new’ hair, the beautiful music and gardens, the magnificent Rievaulx Abbey…you truly put your heart and soul into this vlog, as you always do, Miranda! The special times spent together with your Mum remind me of all the times my Mom and I spent together before the pandemic. She, unfortunately, has been bedridden since a stroke this past Valentine’s Day, but we are so grateful to have her still with us at 96! I am currently reading The Secret Garden and Godmersham Park to her, so those special moments together have replaced our outings together. Such is life, with all its twists and turns…all we can do is make the best of it, and never take our loved ones and the time spent with them for granted. Thank you for sharing Donna, your best friend, with all of us.❤️🌺🌹🌸🌷🩷
Thanks so very much, Lynn Ann! It’s so lovely to hear how you’re still sharing books with your mother in such a special way! Kindest regards to you both! ❤️📚
Dear Miranda and Donna. Thank you so much for this especially lovely video. It was so summery, the filming made me feel to want to go right back to England which I just left two days ago. It created a longing feeling inside me. You are a true ambassador for books and England. I bought so many books at different bookshops discovered through you that I had to carry an extra big bag back home. And now I'm looking at them and I feel so very happy about my finds and lovely memories. I particularly liked your music choices in this video and the views of the abbey were a real treat for my history heart. Oh, and the gardens... so extraordinarily pretty. Thank you so so much for this video. I am so looking forward to the membership-thing coming up here, but I have to say, I am already very excited with the instagram membership as well. You are so gifted Miranda and I am deeply thankful to be able to enjoy your inspirational ideas! Once again, it was a real treat, also your communication with Donna felt extrakind today. I wish you both a very happy and creative week and thank you again for enriching my life!❤
Such lovely and really kind and thoughtful comments, Inga! So delighted you enjoyed the vlog and are so enthusiastic about The Bookish Almanac IG subscription! I’m so pleased you’re there with us too ! Have a lovely week giving that big bag of books room on your bookshelves 👍❤️📚
Thank you for sharing your adventures with us. I throughly enjoy the sweet times with your mom that we get to experience all because of the hard work that you put in creating these delightful vlogs for us! By the way, your hair looks lovely. Enjoy the extra spring in your step that it brings you.
I love Helmsley and go there often! The pronunciation of Belvoir for the drinks is Beaver. Goodness knows why!! Such a lovely episode again - thank you. x
Helmsley is my favourite place. I live in Canada but my grandparents honeymooned post warnings Helmsley before moving to Canada. I recognized your mum’s mid Atlantic accent immediately! Now married to a Yorkshireman, Helmsley remains my favourite market town!!!!
Hello! I am absolutely green with envy - your garden tour was just so beautiful. The butterfly on the pink flower was one I've never seen before. I so appreciate your music choices especially the Tudor music thru out your tour of the Abbey. So cleverly chosen. Loved the vlog so much. Thank you Miranda and Donna. 💐💕💕. (p.s. your hair looks lively too). 🤗
Everything Miranda posts a romantic journey , she is the romantic queen for me because she works so hard for the little tiny details and that the beauty of her soul and her asthetics videos. I love you miranda
Hello Miranda & Donna, your vlog brightens my day. I loved your trip to Helmsley and the walled garden has been on my ‘to visit’ list for quite some time, so thank you for taking me along. Your hair looks terrific - that’s a great colour. Hope you both have a good week.
Miranda this is an absolutely beautiful video! I loved all the flowers and especially the cornflowers and poppies! Reminds me of Agatha Christie's A Sleeping Murder ha! I even spotted a Fatface which is my favorite clothing store - a UK brand but we have a store here in Maine believe it or not! I love the relationship you have with your Mum, it is enchanting to watch! Have a lovely week! Oh! And your hair looks gorgeous!!🌸
thank you so much, Heather! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I know just what you mean about Sleeping Murder - such a good Miss Marple mystery, that one! Hope you have a lovely week ahead too xxx
That's so kind, Jennifer! Thank you so much for your support. It's so appreciated! We spent a fair bit of time in Helmsley and the village ourselves so I know exactly what you mean! 😊💐❤️📚
Hi Miranda - Belvoir is pronounced “beaver” like the animal. It is an amazing stately home in the Lincolnshire area with a lovely tea room. You & your mother are blessed to be so close to nature & all of its bounty. Enjoy! 0:05
Your Sunday reading vlogs feel like quiet listening to a friend. I love your new hair colour and I agree, it’s always more comfortable asking the pros! (Been there, done all of that 😊). Have a great week ❤
Hensley is one of my favourite places to go for a little wander. The cafe in the greenhouse at the walled garden is gorgeous. I always have to visit the bookshop and hunters too!
Another beautiful video Miranda.Seeing you with your mom brought back many fond memories for me with my own mom,who has since passed on .We spend lots of days like the on you filmed only in Canada I will treasure them always she was my best friend. I appreciate these videos so much ,they bring me so much joy
It so suits you the new hair colour! I have noticed straight away the new look! Love all your book recommendations and I spend Sunday evenings watching your posts with a cup of tea 😊😊
Such lovely footage of beautiful late summer gardens and intriguing sculptures in addition to the charming cafe within a greenhouse made my relaxing Sunday afternoon even more blissful. Thank you Miranda and Donna!! I'm about to take my own late afternoon walk. 💕
Thank you for a great start of the day, Miranda! My husband and I are celebrating our wedding anniversary today and it was really great to watch your lovely video before heading out to eat paella and exchange presents (of course including books) :) I can't wait to see autumn content on your channel soon since September is getting close. Cheers and many thanks to you and your lovely mom! 💐❤️
thank you so much for your kind support, Natalia! I so appreciate it! So glad you enjoyed the video, and happy anniversary to you and your husband! Your plans to celebrate sound fabulous - have a wonderful time ❤️
Not sure if someone has said this yet but Belvoir is pronounced "beaver" lol. I follow the Duchess of somewhere on Instagram and she explained it. Loved all the adventures in this vlog, cozy and exciting all at once!
Hello Miranda what a great outing to the beautiful gardens relaxing reading and enjoying nature . . love when you and your mum go to the bookstore tfs your latest books cheers 🍷 have a great evening take care ❤️🙋♀️🌺🪻💐🦋🌻🌹📚
It is so lovely to feel beautiful! One is not supposed to feel that, nor to say it (absolutely not say it) I think (at least in my country) and I find it very refreshing and uplifting that you are openly happy about feeling extra beautiful this week! I have had anemia for ages and finally (but slowly) I am getting better and feel it too, and with that feeling I feel more beautiful...but I only tell you...as it is not a done thing to say here...😉
Hi Miranda, what a beautiful channel you have, so enjoyable and peaceful. I am going to check out the book Thunderclap for my daughter, who is an artist. Your hair is very pretty. I always thought you looked very attractive but the new color does make you look younger, softer and your eyes brighter. You may laugh at that but I am an observant person .😊We have hollyhocks here too but I see them mostly growing around old farmhouses. Your mom is lovely. I still have my sweet, lovely mom and we enjoy so many things together including books! She is 89. Blessings on you and your mom and thank you for giving us so many beautiful videos. ❤
I absolutely adore seeing you and your mum together. Such a lovely and complete video, thank you for being so inspiring to me in my daily life. I love you both ❤
The gardens were so lovely! Both the one you visited and the one nearer to home. I especially loved seeing the ripening apples, roses, and hollyhocks. Oh, and the turf maze. Thank you for taking us along! I want to read Introduction to Sally as I loved The Enchanted April and Elizabeth and her German Garden. Currently I am reading Jane Austen at Home. Your hair looks lovely, too!
I do a lot of used books, especially with book club and if I have just heard about something and want to give it a go!! Loving you & Mum - new to your site from USA❤
I love the adventures you take us on exploring the countryside or in books. What a wonderful relationship you and your mother have. It reminds me of the one I had with my mother. So special. I love your hair, it looks beautiful. 💕
OMG, just had to pause the video as also had my hair done this week 🤩 and yeees, London is SO SO expensive! Ive been going to Avedas flagship salon/Holborn for their model colours for years as its about £10 (they have a training academy upstairs where hairdressers from other places come to train in their colours etc). Always had an amazing experience as the creative directors guide/lead the sessions. I sometimes get my haircut there too if i can get the appointment or I go to Vidal Sassoons training academy which is also amazing. (just thought id share in case anyone might find it useful!). Your hair looks fab with the highlights.🤩 - back to watching the rest of the video LOLZ x
Thank you for taking us to Rievaulx Abbey and the Helmsley Walled Garden, Miranda. I loved the sculpted figures in the Garden; they were very moving. I saw on the website that the sculptor was Bill Harling and that he counted the sculpture of Ancient Egypt, as well as that of Henry Moore, among his inspirations and influences! Carol
Thank you so much for your lovely support, Carol! So kind of you, and I'm really glad you enjoyed this video. That's interesting about the sculptures ❤️
What a lovely video and, as always, with lovely music. When you were driving through Yorkshire, I was reminded of James Herriot in All Creatures Great and Small which I am reading for the Comfort Book Club - I hope your brakes were working! I am a very proud subscriber and can tell you already that it is well worth it! Your hair looks fabulous - when you find a good hairdresser it is like you have struck gold isn't it! I think your mum AKA "the book whisperer" is an excellent PA reminding you of everything - that is definitely what mum's are for. Most importantly, I wanted to say how really well you both look - life in Yorkshire certainly suits you x p.s. I am so grateful that you link everything in the description box - I know that is a lot of work and it is much appreciated
Thank you so much, Sue! I'm so pleased you're enjoying The Bookish Almanac already! Thank you very much for subscribing. We so often say as we drive about that it looks just like All Creatures Great and Small, which goes to show how lovely the Yorkshire landscape still is!! ❤️
My favourite drive in the world is the incline in the way to Helmsley right at Rivaux Abbey. I just live that climb up and the view from there. I love Helmsley! 🇨🇦
Miranda, I have to tell you how lovely it is to have your Sunday vlogs to look forward to each week. What a great way to wind down. Between your absolutely gorgeous cinematography to your beautiful home and all the homey touches to just listening to your Mum and you talk - I love your relationship and the way you seem to finish each other’s sentences and know each other so well. I am not on Instagram but look forward to hearing about another way to support your channel when you are ready to share more.
I am grateful to you! Thunderclap was your recommendation and lead me on a journey! I came to your site by chance several years ago and you and Donna have changed my life for the better, Thank you both :) @@MirandaMills
Thank you Donna for your wonderful presentation! What l do with drinks such as elderflower or even Lemon soda water is to keep the bottle in the fridge and add it to about 6 parts filtered water (reverse osmosis). The bottle lasts far longer and the drink is still quite cold. Also it cuts down on the sugary addiction to dilute it quite a bit. I was using Edith Wharton's Diary of an Edwardian Lady during COVID to identify plants on my walks. I liked the biography of her life. I also liked the Diary of a country parson. I got a lovely second -hand illustrated copy. I bought the complete illustrated stories of Beatrix Potter for a dyslexic child in school who was good at sketching. The English was too antiquated to read to the little ones and that was disappointing. It was you who introduced me to Elizabeth Von Arnim.
What a lovely video. I love seeing you and your Mom together. I miss my Mom so much and cherished Al the good times we had together. Take good care of each other.
Hi Miranda, what a delightful day out. It reminds me of some of the Peak villages. I think Belvoir confusing 😂. I was brought up in Leicestershire and Belvoir Castle was one of the places we visited. The Vale of Belvoir is a beautiful part of Nottinghamshire/Leicestershire so if you get a chance, I think you’d enjoy a visit.
Such lovely content this Sunday! Enjoyed every moment! You have such a gift for capturing beauty with your camera! The background music was perfect also!
“A Summer to Die” is one of my favorite childhood books!!! No one else I’ve encountered has ever heard of it, and I was so happy to see it on your vlog today! Xoxo
I so enjoyed the coffee shop, gardens, abbey and bookstore outing with you today - I didn't even get sunburned! Truly, I look forward to your videos each week. They are uplifting, informative and endearingly entertaining. Thank you for the care you take creating content for your channel. Have a marvelous week.
Hello Miranda…another wonderful video. I love the multi day format of filming because it makes me feel as if I’m on vacation and visiting several sites. I subscribed to the Almanac and the first several quotes are lovely. I did read briefly a few subscriber introductions, however when I tried to return to add my intro, I was unable to locate it. Oh well, it will pop up sometime. By the way, your hair looks great! Thank you for a very pleasant Sunday morning 🌸
thank you so much, Glenda! So glad you enjoyed the video, and thank you very much for subscribing to the Bookish Almanac. If you hit the crown icon in my Instagram profile , you'll see all the exclusive bookish almanac posts, and you'll spot the 'introduce yourself' on there! xxx
Oh Miranda your hair looks lovely.. the highlights really softens the colour and add texture...so pretty...your mum's hair looks lovely too! What a wonderful video... Thank you x
As a result of your visit to the book shop, I spotted the book "Mrs. Porter Calling" and have since ordered it, as it was written be the same author as Mrs. Bird...a story I absolutely loved! Thank you for another wonderful vlog and sharing your day! And, your hair color looks terrific!
Such pretty ladies strolling through my imagination on a Sunday morning. And, the reading is inspiring. In the process of beginning a new book club in my apartment complex. Thank you for your inspirations. Ft Worth, TX
I love your hair and how happy it makes you! Jenny Colgan is one of my favorite fun authors to read and enjoy. I had never heard of this boarding school series. So excited to try it.
Another wonderful adventure with the Ladies Mills. I'll have to try Du Maurier's short stories. I have only read two of her novels Rebecca and My Cousin Rachel, and DNFed ones, Mary-Ann.
The Walled Garden is lovely, I was there some years ago with a friend from Yorkshire and I would love to go back. As always, delightful mix of good things to start the week!
Donna is “The Book Whisperer.” I love that.
she really is 😂
I started to cry when your mum said "that's what mums are for." It was such an endearing remark 🥰 This video was absolutely lovely. The wildflowers are the prettiest I've ever seen. I'm so excited for your new endeavors and really appreciate all your hard work. Happy Sunday Miranda and Donna!
Thanks so very much, Shelli, for your support and lovely comments! I so appreciate your kindness and am so happy you loved the video!💐❤️📚xx

❤️💐
I absolutely adore seeing you and your mum together. Such a lovely and complete video, thank you for being so inspiring to me in my daily life. I love you both ❤
The gardens were so lovely! Both the one you visited and the one nearer to home. I especially loved seeing the ripening apples, roses, and hollyhocks. Oh, and the turf maze. Thank you for taking us along!
I want to read Introduction to Sally as I loved The Enchanted April and Elizabeth and her German Garden. Currently I am reading Jane Austen at Home.
Your hair looks lovely, too!
So glad you enjoyed the garden tours! Introduction to Sally was a good read. I love Jane Austen at Home!! ❤️
Adore the teapots behind you 🍓
That lunch and those drinks looked delicious!
And the sites. Thank you. Enjoying my Saturday evening on my balcony was much enriched 🌺
As always, a lovely, thoughtful video with two lovely ladies.
Thank you.
So delighted you enjoyed it, Linda! Thank you ❤️📚💐
Lovely video! Thank you!
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Thank you so much for your kind support - I so appreciate it! 💐❤️
I do a lot of used books, especially with book club and if I have just heard about something and want to give it a go!! Loving you & Mum - new to your site from USA❤
Wonderful video, and the Harper Collins floral and garden book look lovely
Thanks so much, Hannah!
Now I know where is your lovely smile come from. 😊
I love the adventures you take us on exploring the countryside or in books. What a wonderful relationship you and your mother have. It reminds me of the one I had with my mother. So special. I love your hair, it looks beautiful. 💕
Love your hair Miranda and the dahlias. Rievaulx abbey always stunning.
I totally agree about Rievaulx Abbey - stunning is right! Thank you, Julia! ❤️💐
I agree, your hairdresser did a very good job
Love your new hair color! What a lovely spot you took us this Sunday. Thanks for taking us along👍🏼
Thanks for watching ❤️💐
Your hair is lovely
Lovely vlog. so nice to see you & your mum on the day outing. The gardens looked amazing. Thank you from Scotland 🏴
Glad you enjoyed it - thank you 😊
My favourite drive in the world is the incline in the way to Helmsley right at Rivaux Abbey. I just live that climb up and the view from there. I love Helmsley! 🇨🇦
Merci beaucoup as always.🙏🏻✨✨✨
Miranda, I have to tell you how lovely it is to have your Sunday vlogs to look forward to each week. What a great way to wind down. Between your absolutely gorgeous cinematography to your beautiful home and all the homey touches to just listening to your Mum and you talk - I love your relationship and the way you seem to finish each other’s sentences and know each other so well. I am not on Instagram but look forward to hearing about another way to support your channel when you are ready to share more.
Thank you Judi for your lovely words and support! I’m so happy you love my channel! ❤️💐📚
Thanks
thank you so much for your lovely support, Carol! It's so kind of you, and I'm very grateful ❤️
I am grateful to you! Thunderclap was your recommendation and lead me on a journey! I came to your site by chance several years ago and you and Donna have changed my life for the better, Thank you both :) @@MirandaMills
Thank you Donna for your wonderful presentation!
What l do with drinks such as elderflower or even
Lemon soda water is to keep the bottle in the fridge
and add it to about 6 parts filtered water (reverse
osmosis). The bottle lasts far longer and the drink
is still quite cold. Also it cuts down on the sugary
addiction to dilute it quite a bit.
I was using Edith Wharton's Diary of an Edwardian
Lady during COVID to identify plants on my walks.
I liked the biography of her life.
I also liked the Diary of a country parson. I got
a lovely second -hand illustrated copy.
I bought the complete illustrated stories
of Beatrix Potter for a dyslexic child in
school who was good at sketching.
The English was too antiquated to read to the
little ones and that was disappointing.
It was you who introduced me to
Elizabeth Von Arnim.
What a lovely video. I love seeing you and your Mom together. I miss my Mom so much and cherished Al the good times we had together. Take good care of each other.
Thank you so much! So glad the vlog reminded you of happy times with your own sadly missed mother ❤️💐
Thanks!
Thank you so much for your amazing support, Diane! It's lovely of you, and I so appreciate it ❤️
Delighted to subscribe to the Almanac! You have given me so much, it is a pleasure to give back 💖

“A Summer to Die” is one of my favorite childhood books!!! No one else I’ve encountered has ever heard of it, and I was so happy to see it on your vlog today! Xoxo
I’m definitely excited to try it for myself! Thank you! ❤️📚
I so enjoyed the coffee shop, gardens, abbey and bookstore outing with you today - I didn't even get sunburned! Truly, I look forward to your videos each week. That’s so kind and supportive of you to say, Debbie! Thanks so much! It makes me happy to know that you enjoy my channel! ❤️📚💐
If you hit the crown icon in my Instagram profile , you'll see all the exclusive bookish almanac posts, and you'll spot the 'introduce yourself' on there! xxx

You are so welcome! 🙏 ❤️
Thank you, Mary! I really loved Mrs Porter Calling so hope you enjoy it too! ❤️📚
Such pretty ladies strolling through my imagination on a Sunday morning. And, the reading is inspiring. In the process of beginning a new book club in my apartment complex. Thank you for your inspirations. Ft Worth, TX
Wonderful! That’s lovely to hear, Susan! ❤️📚
Thank you very much, Barbara! It really is a beautiful garden. I hope you can return yourself before too long! ❤️💐
