I loved your photography in this vlog, Miranda, and thought you did great justice to that beautiful garden at Newby Hall. Your dress and headband are beautiful, and so is Donna's blouse. Thanks for those very interesting book reviews and the Emma Bridgewater unboxing!
How lovely to share your visit to Newby Hall. It’s many years since I visited with my mum and admired their beautiful gardens. The Wheel Spins is definitely on my reading list.
Hello Miranda 🥰Miranda You’re a ROCK Star ⭐️ in the BookTube Community.. My opinion of you’re vlogs still stand their the BEST 🥰.. tell Donna I said hello 👋🏾
Miranda, Thank you so much for your lovely video. The Gardens were so beautiful ! I wish I had a place to escape to as lovely as you do. Your gentle demeanor, and pretty outfits bring a calmness to such turbulent times. I love all things dealing with Nature, the tea towel, and mugs are a great addition to your collection. Nice to see you and your Mom enjoying time together. Have a wonderful week ! Happiness, Cindy🫖🌻🍰📚
Excellent reading recommendations as ever, Miranda, and wonderful to see the dress I'm planning on wearing this evening looking really rather charming! X
What a beautiful garden - a wonderful feeling of peace came over me as I watched the footage. Your desserts look just decadent. I'm now craving a piece of Donna's chocolate cake!😍
Dear Miranda, thank you so much for this lovely vlog. The garden looked stunningly beautiful, I was deeply impressed! Thank you for the book recommendations. I really want to read the two British Library ones. You look so beautiful in your dress with the matching headband. Have a lovely week!! Coming Thursday I'm on my way to London! After checking in the first walk will be to Waterstones Piccadilly. I'm going to be so happy!!!😀😀
Thanks so much for your fabulous support, Inga! So lovely of you! I really appreciate it ❤️ How exciting that you'll be in London so soon! I hope you have an amazing time. That Waterstones is incredible - you'll be in heaven 😉 📚 ❤️
As you've asked, this week I started reading "The Golden Ladies' Book Club" by Judy Leigh and I'm enjoying it a lot. I'm algo reading "4:50 to Paddington".
Hi Miranda, I'm very late catching up this week but your vlog and newsletter have been a treat as always. I'm lucky enough to live in York so Newby Hall is close by but I haven't visited for a good few. Your lovely film has made me want to go again soon so hopefully this summer. As you sseem to be reading quite a few thrillers and crime novels I recommend Metronome by Tom Watson, an unusual story but a real page turner. I've just finished it after picking it up in my local library. I'm dying to know all about Yellow Face so hope all will be revealed in your next vlog!
That Emma Bridgewater baking mug screams Miranda and Donna. It's charming. As is not unusual, I now have new books--The Wheel Spins and Suddenly at His Residence--in the shopping basket. I'm looking forward to quiet summer afternoons of tea and mysteries. Thank you for sharing Newby Hall with us. The gardens and grounds are just exquisite, and you capture them beautifully. I am fairly confident that you will ADORE traveling back in time at The Cloisters. I hope you get to visit it before long. Wishing you and Donna a wonderful week ahead! 📚 🍵 💚
Thank you so much as always for your very kind and generous support, Pamela!! I so appreciate it! ❤️ Tea and mysteries sounds perfect to me, of course!! I hope you enjoy both books - I really did! The Cloisters is definitely on my list for whenever I get to New York again!! xxx
Just discovered your Vlogs today, our holiday weekend. Good ending. Delightful! I have read Celia Fremlin in past and enjoyed. I'm going to request the Wheels Spin and His Residence as well. Am very lucky living block downhill from a large lovely bookstore .
Dear Miranda and Donna, thank you so much for your video of Newby hall and the accompanying music. I lost my father a year and half ago, and I don’t know what connection the beauty of Newby hall and the music has to do with my dad, but watching and listening to the music brought on a flood of tears and sweet memories of my dear dad. Thank you so much to you and your mum. ❤
Thank you. Your filming takes us into the beautiful world of nature that we all too often overlook. I enjoyed watching the bee moving around the face of the flower, it’s legs seeking. Thank you also, of course, for the book recommendations . Best wishes to you and your sweet Mum.
Oh super video! I am in the mood for some "page turner" mysteries so your reviews are spot on for me. Thanks. Must say, I truly enjoy your vlogs and never miss one... Of course same goes for your newsletter. Lastly to add, how wonderful your garden walk along...especially seeing the butterflies up close and in such perfect detail. Beautiful!
Another wonderful vlog, thank you Miranda! I truly adored the visit to Newby Hall and I absolutely think you are an artist : your images show a remarkable sense of framing and enhance the beauty of the place. Such a pleasure to watch!
Thanks for another video. I have to start by saying that I’m gonna look for the baking themed mug. 😂got jealous. Wrote down all the book titles, and hope to get at least one. And the garden.. so beautiful. I haven’t dedicated my time to my micro garden this year, but a friend who’s visiting and has very green fingers is devising a plan to bring my flower patches back to the life of the living. Have a great week !!
Thank you so much for your very kind and generous support, Valentina! I so appreciate it! ❤️ Hope you manage to find the baking mug! How lovely your friend is helping with your micro garden (love the term - that's definitely what we have too!). Enjoy your week too and thank you again 🪴
Newby Hall was just gorgeous- thank you for "taking" us there with you. And if the interiors are like the gardens, I am sure they are spectacular! And Newby Hall is now most definitely on my list of country houses I must visit. I'm visiting the UK now, but unfortunately not near Yorkshire (next time!) but I am going to get myself to Heffer's in Cambridge to pick up some of your recommendations! I'm also going to make a visit to the Garden Museum on your reference- so looking forward to it, and hope to get the Thousand Year Garden book while I'm there. Thank you for such lovely videos- I truly anticipate them all week and watch them with such enjoyment 🤩
Thank you Miranda! The gardens and music thrill my heart. It’s truly an exquisite place, and made more so by sharing it with you and Donna. All the books are on my wish list and Emma Bridgewater🥰. Have a lovely week.
Hello Miranda tfs your latest reads . . oh the gardens were so beautiful your deserts looked so yummy 😋 . . that tablecloth was so beautiful . . Have a wonderful evening happy reading 📚 ❤️🙋♀️🌺🥰💐🪻🌻🦋
That was me who said that Celia Fremlin gives the best description of damp that I’ve ever read. 🤣Having enjoyed “Uncle Paul,” I’d like to give some of her other titles a try. Thank you for bringing Celia Fremlin to our attention.
So happy to hear you talk about the British Library Classics because I always note them in bookshops and always wonder if they would be something for me or not, so it was really nice to learn more from you. And I absolutely loved you showing us arround in Newby Hall, what a treat!
I'm so glad you read The Wheel Spins and enjoyed it! After you mentioned it in a previous video, I ordered two copies so I could also give one to a friend. It's such a favorite and I'm so glad these older books are being republished for a new audience to enjoy. I've never read Christianna Brand, so I'll try one of hers, too.
This was a most enjoyable video. That tea towel looks like a work of art. Newby Hall is beautiful. There's nothing like a walk in an English garden to calm you down. Thanks for a great video.
I really do appreciate your book recommendations - always honest, even if you didn't like it so much !!! Please, let us know from time to time what Donna is reading too. 📚 📖 📚 Thank you for sharing this beautiful garden 🌸🏵🌺
Hi Miranda, The cloisters is one of my favorite museums interesting one of their exhibits years ago was about the tarot. I truly hope you visit this museum. I am definitely going to read the cloisters book. Thank you for all your recommendations and your amazing vlogs🇬🇧 Take Care🌹
Thank you, Miranda, for another wonderful video. Your filming, your choice of music are all so lovely. Always a pleasure to watch and listen, I enjoy your work immensely! Thank you for the newsletter as well. All the best to you and your mum 💕🌼 Julia
Another lovely video - such special memories for you and your mum. I was also reflecting that we are now moving into late summer - time flies doesn't it! I do really enjoy autumn though with all the lovely colours so we have that to look forward to x
Hi Miranda, I enjoy so much your vlogs and your recommendations🥰. I went to both the MET and the MET Cloisters, which are fantastic. The MET Cloisters is a stunning museum that features art and architecture from the middle ages. The gardens were also incredible, and it took me about three hours to explore everything there. Because it is impossible to give the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City justice in a short amount of time, we spent 8 hours in the museum over two days.Hugs 🥰😘
Wonderful! I can imagine, having visited the MET myself, that 2 days still didn’t feel long enough. I so look forward to seeing The Cloisters one day! 😊❤️
I always enjoy your videos Miranda, I am definitely going to get the two recent reads you talked about and recommend them to our 'Murder Mystery' book Club as we very much enjoy the Golden age crime fiction style books, so thank you .
hi miranda! i absolutely adore your vlogs! it gives me that much needed „britain fix“ that i can‘t get myself because we can‘t travel for the foreseeable future (last time we travelled to britain - or indeed anywhere - was in 2019). the national trust properties/gardens, cafes, walks, books, and emma bridgewater to boot! just - lovely. ❤ the cloisters are definitely worth a visit. if you can manage do go on a slightly grey day because the atmosphere is just fabulous and for someone who enjoys classic/golden age mysteries a real thrill, i think. what a shame the book „the cloisters“ wasn‘t any better! i‘ve read several mysteries that take place (to a certain extent) there, alas not one of them was good/memorable. haven‘t stopped looking for a good one, though. all the best from tiny-town austria! love to you and your charming mom! monica 📚🐾🐾
Thank you for your beautiful video of the very pretty gardens at Newby Hall, which I really enjoyed. I am half way through Emma by Jane Austen and have just received 'Elizabeth and her German Garden' by Elizabeth Von Arnim from a link from you to Blackwells. I am looking forward to starting to read her book tomorrow morning. Sending you best wishes from Scotland.
HI Miranda, watching your vlog is always a delightful moment ! Thank you for sharing your readings; I've just finished The Pursuit of Love by Nancy Mitford and I begin to prepare my August trip in London! Nice week to you and Donna😊❤ Madeleine from Normandy
A really special video this week, Miranda! I am ordering the two British Library books you featured in the beginning, and I have read The Cloisters and Yellowface. I enjoyed both, but I know exactly what you mean about The Cloisters. I feel like I should order that edition, however, just for the stunning book cover!! My husband and I visited Newby Hall many years ago when we were living in York. Thank you for taking us along with you for a virtual revisit…it was a lovely day out for us when we went. Good luck with all your meetings and your plans…I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us next!!🌸📚💕
Loved the walk around. The gardens were beautiful. Enjoyed the vlog. 👍. I'm currently reading Spam Tomorrow by Verily Anderson. It's so interesting. Thanks for recommending. See you next time. 💐🤗❤❤. P.S. loved your dress. 😊
That is my Christianna Brand ranking order as well. I really hope that the British Library republish more of her work (if there is any!). Love your Seasalt dress (the wrap version of the same print is so nice too!)
Thank you, Miranda for another lovely video! I keep a list of all of your recommended books in my iPhone to refer to when I am in book stores. I am reading a memoir at this time by Patrick Bringley entitled All the Beauty in the World. The Metropolitan Museum and Me. In it Patrick reveals his many years of experience as a guard at the museum as well as the daily routines and inner workings of the museum. Fascinating, especially if you have been to the Met, which I know you have been. Also loved seeing your new Emma Bridgewater pieces. I am expecting my first EB piece on Tuesday…can’t wait!
I am awaiting 4 Emma Bridgewater mugs to arrive here in the States. I purchased them on sale through your link, so I hope you get credit😊. I really want one of the tea pots, but that will have to wait!
Hi Miranda, Thank you for taking us to Newby Hall. Such a lovely place. I have just finished reading 'Pride and Prejudice'. It is new edition that I got for Christmas.I always enjoy reading Jane Austen. At present I am also halfway through reading another Christmas present, 'Dawnlands' by Phillipa Gregory. This book is a bit of a page turner:)
So happy you enjoyed the video: Newby Hall really is lovely so I was very glad it was sunny for the filming! Enjoy your read of P&P - always a favourite read of mine ❤️📚🌺
Hi Miranda! I love your newsletter! So well organized and aesthetically pleasing content. Such a gift. Lovely video! I adore that dress of yours! Have a lovely day! 🦋
Thank you for the wonderful video, Miranda! Such a lovely way to start off my Monday morning! 🌸🌼 The gardens were beautiful and I love peeking in on you and your mum reading 😍📖
I LOVED the takes from Newby Hall, especially the ones with the butterflies on the flowers. Great job, Miranda, really! 😍And the painting you have of the House is beautiful. I would definitely read The Wheel Spins and Yellowface among the books that you have mentioned, and I am curious to know your opinion about other books by Celia Fremlin. I am currently (slowly!) reading a non fiction book, The Social Lives of Animals, by Ashley Ward, and after that I plan to start with the CBC's choice for August. I got to know Emma Bridgewater thanks to you, and the mugs that you have chosen are very nice. I am sure that many of us would appreciate a video/tour of your EB's pieces. Thank you for this enchanting vlog, looking forward to next one! Have a lovely week ahead, and greetings to Donna as well.🌺/Vanessa
@@MirandaMills I was in London once a hundred years ago, (I’m around your mom’s age) with a side trip to Brighton and Sussex, and loved it. I have a friend who’s from Yorkshire, so would love to visit!
Newby Hall and its gardens are so beautiful! I love the way you film things and the music you choose. Right now I'm reading a historical romance and waiting for The Thousand Year Old Garden to get here, which I ordered from your Blackwell's link. 😊
Oh thank you! It is such a beautiful place! I wish I could have filmed in the house too. Hope you enjoy The Thousand Year Old Garden and thank you for using my link! 💕
Lovely vlog Miranda, Newby Hall has such beautiful gardens. Having finished “Expert in Murder” I am now devouring “The Feast”. I re-watched one of your seasonal reading videos yesterday and realised just how much you have influenced my reading over the last year or so! Have a good, if busy, week.
Fabulous video as ever, thank you. I have already bought ‘Uncle Paul’ based on your recommendation & plan to read it next. I’m currently reading ‘Half a Soul’, which is a Regency-set story of fairies and magicians - it’s enormous fun, and I think you’d enjoy it. So glad you spoke about ‘The Lady Vanishes’ too, because I’ve never seen it & have been looking for a cosy Sunday evening watch!
Thank you! That does sound like a fun read. Hope you enjoy The Lady Vanishes - it's a fun Hitchcock to watch, and very interesting to compare with the book, or with the later BBC adaptation. Enjoy your evening!
Hi Miranda… thank you for another lovely video. The Newby Hall gardens were beautiful, just perfect for a Sunday stroll. The Wheel Turns sounds like an exciting read which will definitely be added to my TBR, but for now I’m continuing to read James Herriot. Before your book club announcement I had decided to reread all his books this summer. What a treat! A cozy nostalgic set of books highlighting the Yorkshire Dales of years gone by.
Another wonderful video! Beautiful time for you and your mom at Newby Hall! Love your Emma Bridgewater choices, no doubt you will always enjoy them!! Wishing you a good week! 🥰🇨🇦
Hi Miranda and your Mom You two go to the neatest places - I would have sat there all afternoon and read my Book and slowly devoured the Cake. This looks so good. It’s so nice that your Mom and you go places together - you both Love to read Books. You are so Blessed to still have your Mom. I wish my Mom was still alive but she isn’t. We did a lot of things together as well and we had fun as well too. I want to read Yellow Face. I have not read that book yet. I don’t know if you read any books by Riley Sager or not but his books are really good too. They are Thrillers - Scary type books. Enjoy the rest of your day and do lots of Reading. Take Care & Happy Reading ❤️🤗🙏☕️🔰📖📚📒❤️
It was such a fun afternoon! My sincere condolences on the loss of your mother. It’s lovely to hear you had such happy times with her. Enjoy your reading ❤️📚💐
@@MirandaMills - Thank You Miranda - I am Reading Book #23 of Nancy Drew Mysteries called Mystery Of The Tolling Bell by Carolyn Keene. I am also reading Home Before Dark by Riley Seger. I am also reading The 23rd Midnight by James Patterson. These should keep me out of trouble - Haha! Take Care ❤️🤗🔰📚📖📒❤️
Hello Miranda, what a lovely video and it was delightful to visit Newby Hall with you and Donna too. How beautiful the gardens looked. I remember back in 2001 watching The Lady Vanishes at our local theatre starring Dulcie Gray as Miss Froy and Victor Spinetti as Dr Hartz but, do you know, I don't remember having read the book so that will be going on my wish list, thank you! I am waiting for a delivery of Yellowface and you have made me very excited to start reading when it arrives. Have a wonderful week, Teresa 📚♥
I just finished 'Uncle Paul' and loved it. It really creeped me out, like watching a scary film. I also bought a jug and bowl in the blue and white daisy design from the Emma Bridgewater sale. Both seconds and I can't tell why they are either. Thanks Miranda, lovely vlog xxx
I just finished RF Kuang's Poppy War trilogy her first work. I love idea of having a variety of different mugs, but I live in my parents house and my mom has her own mugs that are all the same. She likes the size of them too, but my sister did suggest I have a shelf or something to place all my mugs.
Glad to see your reading updates. I'm reading The Hours Before Dawn by Fremlin--suggested in your last video--and I'm enjoying it so far. I'd never heard of her--always fun to find an author new to me. Thanks!
I’ve read that! Enjoyed it! I never heard of her until I read through an old collection of short stories. I noted down the three authors I thought were best. She was one of them. Really enjoying her full length books 💕
You've tempted me to order Yellowface, Miranda! Sounds exciting! I've been feeling rather nostalgic for summers of my childhood, and so have been rereading some of my fav summertime ghost story books such as The Dollhouse Murders by Betty Ren Wright as well as a new to me book called The Saturday Night Ghost Club by Craig Davidson (excellent summertime bildungsroman novel). It's been fun!
To spot the fault on Emma Bridgewater look for the black chinagraph mark. They use it to circle the fault. Usually something tiny like a pin prick in the glaze. I love EB too and always get the seconds
A little late watching you this week Miranda, but this was so enjoyable as always. Loved the trip to Newby Hall - I mean to go back every year as its not too long a drive for me, and perhaps this will be the push I needed. Your recommendation of The Wheel Spins has been added to my list; at the moment I'm reading an old Lisa Jewell - The Girls.
Thank you for another lovely blog. I have visited Newby Hall and it was a lovely reminder of a beautiful garden. I'm currently reading Life in the Garden by Penelope Lively. It is like having a conversation with someone who loves reading, writing and gardening. Lots of references including to to Virginia Woolf's writing, Wind in the Willows and famous gardens. A lovely book if you've not read it (you probably have!).
I'm so glad you enjoyed the vlog, Michele and thank you very much indeed for your lovely support! I'm very grateful for it ❤️ I have indeed read Life in the Garden and absolutely loved it! I was lucky enough to get my copy signed by Penelope Lively when it first came out, so I really treasure it! 💐 💕
Thank you for the beautiful video! And for the infos on the books on on the films, too. Have a great week! Best wishes to your mother! I ordered two books (one in german, one in russian) about Pushkin during the quarantine(cholera), spoiler: he was prolific, a book about the life of young intellectuals in Russia, who are or better were going to protests (in russian), and a book from Persephone books, " Into the Whirlwind", a book by Eugenia Ginzburg. I tried to buy it in russian, it is out of print, and I am glad, that I can get it now. I am now reading a book by Erich Mühsam (in german), "Should one write memoirs?".
Lovely as always, Miranda. Thank you! I wonder if you are familiar with Oriel Malet's writings? I found her through reading Letters From Menabilly, and ordered a sweet edition of her 'Jemima' from the UK. (I am in the States). I believe Persephone has put out one of her other titles.
How funny- I only just discovered Celia fremlin!! Having never heard of her before finding her recently in an old short story book and hers was the best story. Now here you are talking about her! I thoroughly enjoyed the Hours before Dawn.
Thank you as always for such great content and book recommendations, Miranda! I finally caved in and bought Yellowface and a whole lot of other books from your reco. So happy to have you and Donna back on booktube, hope you had a good break. P.S. It's usually Sunday evening here when your vlog comes out but that partially takes away the onset of the Monday blues when I have your videos to look forward to.
I must read The Wheel Spins in September! Thank you for the lovely footage and music at Newby Hall. I love the Emma Bridgewater items you chose, just beautiful 😍
Unboxing my own EB sale haul as I watch your lovely video! I took advantage of the sale to finally start my toast & marmalade collection and I’m so happy!
I’m in the middle of ‘The Wheel Spins’ and really enjoying it. I totally agree, it’s far darker than the 1938 film (which is fab) but all the better for that - there’s a real undercurrent of threat throughout. I’m also reading my first Dorothy Whipple and wondering how it’s taken me this long😂
I know! That’s how I felt about Dorothy Whipple! I recommended The Hours Before Dawn below, but I do think DW outwrote (if that’s a word🙂) Celia Fremlin using a similar theme in Someone At a Distance. Check them out 😁
Thanks for another captivating vlog! I will take the titles you read and see what I can find. I’m currently reading Life after Life by Kate Atkinson……..I picked it up at my local used booksellers, and I’m really enjoying it. The main character, Ursula is dipping into different times lines…….I’m curious as to how it will end!
I just interloaned Green For Danger for my husband because he likes mysteries. My endorsement of this book was to tell him, "Miranda liked it!" You must visit the Cloisters one day. I liked them so much I bought the museum's book about them, A Walk Through the Cloisters. You might like to check out Al Pacino's 1996 documentary Looking For Richard which was partially filmed there. I love your Emma Bridgewater haul. I'm planning an October trip to Ireland and want to check out Nicholas Mosse pottery, which is somewhat similar to Emma Bridgewater and equally lovely.
Thank you Miranda! Lovely recommendations as always, and we’ll have to visit Newby Hall when we are next in the UK - It’s a long way from Australia(!) but we are starting to think of overseas travel again. I wonder if I might ask what kind of coaching do you do?

I'm also going to make a visit to the Garden Museum on your reference- so looking forward to it, and hope to get the Thousand Year Garden book while I'm there. Thank you for such lovely videos- I truly anticipate them all week and watch them with such enjoyment 🤩
Your plans sound super! Enjoy Cambridge and London 😊
The Wheel Spins sounds just up my alley! Thank you ❤️
Hope you enjoy it, Karen❤️📚
Thank you Miranda! The gardens and music thrill my heart. It’s truly an exquisite place, and made more so by sharing it with you and Donna. All the books are on my wish list and Emma Bridgewater🥰. Have a lovely week.
That’s so kind! Thanks so much, Sandy! I’m so happy you enjoyed it! You too!📚❤️💐
Some good recommendations here. Thank you. Love your dress and headband by the way. Really suits you.
Thank you ❤️📚
I love that you and Donna take your books to read with tea and goodies. Enjoy your week🌹
Thank you! You too! 😊❤️
So enjoy your vlogs and seeing the sites.
Thanks so much, Sandra!❤️💐

Thank you so much, Ida! So pleased you enjoyed it 😊❤️
Thank you for a tour of those lovely gardens!
So glad you enjoyed it, Anita❤️💐
That was me who said that Celia Fremlin gives the best description of damp that I’ve ever read. 🤣Having enjoyed “Uncle Paul,” I’d like to give some of her other titles a try. Thank you for bringing Celia Fremlin to our attention.
Such a great comment!
The Hours Before Dawn was really good. Not 5 stars, but a solid 4.
So happy to hear you talk about the British Library Classics because I always note them in bookshops and always wonder if they would be something for me or not, so it was really nice to learn more from you. And I absolutely loved you showing us arround in Newby Hall, what a treat!
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed the video!
I hope you enjoy Christianna Brand too, Mitzi ❤️📚
I want to get Wheel Spins now. Hi Mitzi!
This was a most enjoyable video. That tea towel looks like a work of art. Newby Hall is beautiful. There's nothing like a walk in an English garden to calm you down. Thanks for a great video.
Thank you very much, I’m so glad you enjoyed it! ❤️😊🌺
I really do appreciate your book recommendations - always honest, even if you didn't like it so much !!!
Please, let us know from time to time what Donna is reading too. 📚 📖 📚
Thank you for sharing this beautiful garden 🌸🏵🌺
Thanks so much❤️📚
Hi Miranda,
The cloisters is one of my favorite museums interesting one of their exhibits years ago was about the tarot. I truly hope you visit this museum. I am definitely going to read the cloisters book. Thank you for all your recommendations and your amazing vlogs🇬🇧
Take Care🌹
Thanks so much! ❤️
Thank you, Miranda, for another wonderful video. Your filming, your choice of music are all so lovely. Always a pleasure to watch and listen, I enjoy your work immensely! Thank you for the newsletter as well. All the best to you and your mum 💕🌼 Julia
That makes me very happy to hear! Thank you so much for your very kind support! I so appreciate it ❤️📚💐
Thank you, Miranda.
Thank you very much for your support, Shirley! I so appreciate it! ❤️📚🌹
Thank you for taking us along to Newby Hall! The garden was indeed so beautiful and peaceful... Lifted my spirits 🙂
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you!
Another lovely video - such special memories for you and your mum. I was also reflecting that we are now moving into late summer - time flies doesn't it! I do really enjoy autumn though with all the lovely colours so we have that to look forward to x
Thank you, Sue! Yes, I’m always ready for autumn by the time it comes 🧡
A wonderful vlog - thank you for sharing your finds with us - I think the mugs look just fine!
I live on Long Island and have yet to make it to the Cloisters - hopefully someday!
Thanks so much, Betty! I’m so happy you enjoyed it! I’m sure you’ll make it to The Cloisters before I do so hope you have a wonderful visit there ❤️📚
Hi Miranda,
I enjoy so much your vlogs and your recommendations🥰.
You’re so welcome, Jayne! So happy you enjoyed the book recommendations ❤️📚
I just saw a recent adaptation on Brit Box of The Lady Vanished. It was wonderful.
Yes, I so enjoyed the most recent one! It was much truer to the book and very atmospheric!
The gardens looked beautiful! I shall definitely be adding those British Library Crime Classics to my wish list 😊
So glad you enjoyed it, Sophie! Have a great start to the week! ❤️📚
hi miranda!
i absolutely adore your vlogs! it gives me that much needed „britain fix“ that i can‘t get myself because we can‘t travel for the foreseeable future (last time we travelled to britain - or indeed anywhere - was in 2019). the national trust properties/gardens, cafes, walks, books, and emma bridgewater to boot! just - lovely. ❤
the cloisters are definitely worth a visit. if you can manage do go on a slightly grey day because the atmosphere is just fabulous and for someone who enjoys classic/golden age mysteries a real thrill, i think.
what a shame the book „the cloisters“ wasn‘t any better! i‘ve read several mysteries that take place (to a certain extent) there, alas not one of them was good/memorable. haven‘t stopped looking for a good one, though.
all the best from tiny-town austria! love to you and your charming mom! monica 📚🐾🐾
Thank you so much, Monica! ❤️📚
Thanks so much, Caroline! Two great reads - enjoy! ❤️📚
HI Miranda, watching your vlog is always a delightful moment ! Thank you for sharing your readings; I've just finished The Pursuit of Love by Nancy Mitford and I begin to prepare my August trip in London! Nice week to you and Donna😊❤ Madeleine from Normandy
Thank you so much, Madeleine! I’m so happy you enjoyed the video. ❤️ The Pursuit of Love! Hope you have a wonderful trip to London next month! ❤️📚
So thrilled to see your updates! 😊 I so enjoy receiving your newsletters❤
Thanks so much!
Thank you so much for your lovely comment! I hope you enjoy the BL crime classics books too! Newby Hall is such a special place ❤️
Loved the walk around. The gardens were beautiful. Enjoyed the vlog. 👍. I'm currently reading Spam Tomorrow by Verily Anderson. It's so interesting. Thanks for recommending. See you next time. 💐🤗❤❤. P.S. loved your dress. 😊
Thanks so much, Diane! Glad you're enjoying Spam Tomorrow! xxx
That is my Christianna Brand ranking order as well. I really hope that the British Library republish more of her work (if there is any!). Love your Seasalt dress (the wrap version of the same print is so nice too!)
I hope so too! 📚 ❤️
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Thank you. That book sounds fascinating - definitely one to put on my list 😂
@@MirandaMills The book that 316kittycat mentions, "All the Beauty in the World" is excellent. It's definitely one to add to your list.
Wow! You took stunning nature shots at the garden.
Hi Miranda! I love your newsletter! So well organized and aesthetically pleasing content. Such a gift. Lovely video! I adore that dress of yours! Have a lovely day! 🦋
Thank you so much for the kind words! ❤️📚
Thank you for the wonderful video, Miranda! Such a lovely way to start off my Monday morning! 🌸🌼 The gardens were beautiful and I love peeking in on you and your mum reading 😍📖
So happy you enjoyed it! Thank you 😊
I LOVED the takes from Newby Hall, especially the ones with the butterflies on the flowers.
So happy you enjoyed the video, Vanessa! ❤️📚
Oh boy, more books to add to my reading list! Thanks for showing the sites in your area! Someday, I will get there.
Glad you enjoyed the video and exploring Newby Hall Gardens a little 😊🌼❤️
@@MirandaMills I was in London once a hundred years ago, (I’m around your mom’s age) with a side trip to Brighton and Sussex, and loved it. I have a friend who’s from Yorkshire, so would love to visit!
Hope you are able to visit again soon and see Yorkshire too🌹
Newby Hall and its gardens are so beautiful!
Another lovely video and other books to add to my ever increasing book wish list because of you 😂 x
Thanks so much, Charlene! Happy reading ❤️📚
Thanks so much, Joy, for your very kind words! I devoured The Feast too, enjoy! ❤️📚
Miranda, Have you come across Essie Fox. She writes Victorian style gothic and has a new book out, The Fascination. I think you might like her.
Happy sunny Sunday for you and Donna too.❤
Thank you! 😊
Thanks so much, Glenda! Mum and I are really looking forward to August’s Comfort Book Club, we love his writing too ❤️📚
Another wonderful video! Beautiful time for you and your mom at Newby Hall! Love your Emma Bridgewater choices, no doubt you will always enjoy them!! Wishing you a good week! 🥰🇨🇦
Thank you so much! Have a great start to the week too! ❤️💐
Hi Miranda and your Mom
You two go to the neatest places - I would have sat there all afternoon and read my Book and slowly devoured the Cake.
Take Care & Happy Reading
❤️🤗🙏☕️🔰📖📚📒❤️
I'm so happy that I've found your lovely videos! The gardens! Also, I have to compliment your beautiful pearl ring!
Welcome, Lily! Thank you very much! ❤️💐
Thanks so much, Teresa! I’m so happy you enjoyed it! Have a great reading week ❤️📚
Thanks so much, Gill! Glad you found some EB bargains too ❤️📚
Oh and thank you for the heads up on Newbury Hall. We are holidaying in the York/ Ripon area in September. So plan now to visit xxxx
Thanks!
That's great! I'm looking forward to getting to that one myself!
Always lovely to “meet” another EB fan ❤️
Loved the vlog Miranda, and the pied wagtail cup is adorable 🥰
Thank you!! 😊
Loved your video today. The garden and cafe are lovely. I would love to know the brand of dresses you were. I just adore them.
Thanks so much! This dress is from Seasalt 👗❤️
Thank you, Sue! I hope you manage to get back to Newby Hall soon! xxx
Thanks!
Thank you so much for your fabulous support! It's so kind of you, and I really appreciate it ❤️
Thank you for the beautiful video!
Thanks so much! Happy reading! ❤️📚
Thanks so much! You’re right: Persephone published her fictional biography of Marjory Fleming. ❤️📚
How funny- I only just discovered Celia fremlin!! Having never heard of her before finding her recently in an old short story book and hers was the best story. Now here you are talking about her! I thoroughly enjoyed the Hours before Dawn.
Serendipity indeed! ❤️📚
Thank you so much! I'm so pleased you enjoy the vlogs and the book recommendations! Hope you're having a good start to the week! 😊❤️
I must read The Wheel Spins in September! Thank you for the lovely footage and music at Newby Hall. I love the Emma Bridgewater items you chose, just beautiful 😍
I so enjoyed it, Shelli! I’m so happy you enjoyed the video, and thank you so much for your kind support! I so appreciate it❤️📚💐
Unboxing my own EB sale haul as I watch your lovely video! I took advantage of the sale to finally start my toast & marmalade collection and I’m so happy!
Wonderful! Enjoy using them❤️🍽️
I’m in the middle of ‘The Wheel Spins’ and really enjoying it. I totally agree, it’s far darker than the 1938 film (which is fab) but all the better for that - there’s a real undercurrent of threat throughout. I’m also reading my first Dorothy Whipple and wondering how it’s taken me this long😂
Yes, I really thought the same. ❤️ Dorothy Whipple - you have lots of fun reading ahead, Sadie. Enjoy! 📚❤️📚
I know! That’s how I felt about Dorothy Whipple! I recommended The Hours Before Dawn below, but I do think DW outwrote (if that’s a word🙂) Celia Fremlin using a similar theme in Someone At a Distance. Check them out 😁
Wonderful vlog as always, Miranda. I will have to pick up a copy of The Wheel Spins to read over August.
It's so good, Natasha! ❤️📚
Thanks so much! Enjoy your reading 📚❤️
Oh super! Hope he enjoys it! I think it's very unique and clever. Nicholas Mosse pottery is very attractive!
Thank you Miranda! Lovely recommendations as always, and we’ll have to visit Newby Hall when we are next in the UK - It’s a long way from Australia(!) but we are starting to think of overseas travel again.
I wonder if I might ask what kind of coaching do you do?
Thank you! Hope you do manage to visit Newby Hall sometime soon! I do social media coaching for creatives.
