    This is why you should never assume anything and enquire about someone's whereabouts because by the time you realise something is wrong it may already be too late by that point

    Even experienced hikers can get into trouble and being physically fit like Jason doesn't stop you from falling and getting injured something like that could certainly have happened to Jason which prevented him returning to his car

      It's amazing how many times you hear "they were a very experienced hiker..."
      I imagine it may draw them to places that are a little more dangerous, but the common thing is that they all had something bad happen outdoors.
      Doesn't matter how much you know, the unexpected can happen to anyone.

      I would imagine more experienced hikers get into trouble in the mountains than inexperienced. Because the inexperienced hikers don't go far.

    Cpl. Whitacre's sister needs to get her congressional representatives involved...they might be able to put pressure on the FBI. The only reason they keep her brother listed as a deserter is that it gives the Federal authorities, FBI, etc. the power to stay involved in the investigation. It is not a reflection on him. I worked in special weapons also...the rules for us were different to say the least.

    Pamela’s case upsets me so much but it also doesn’t surprise me. Indigenous people have not been given the same treatment by law enforcement for as long as there has been law enforcement.

      Yeah, why IS that? Canada projects itself as being so welcoming and 'diverse', and I'm sure there are laws and committees and proclamations from Ottawa and provincial capitals "protecting" the indigenous peoples, but right down on-the-ground, it seems LEO in Canada don't give them much respect or regard.
      Oh, I'm sure there may be 'histories' and a long legacy of local problems, as is the case in many countries, but ... idk... something seems wrong about the situation with indigenous people, esp women, in Canada. I don't mean to hijack the comments, but what am I Not seeing?

    • @janetmiller2980
      @janetmiller2980 11 місяців тому +4

      @@eatiegourmet1015I find the more such buzzwords like 'diversity' are thrown around, the less welcoming of non-white men & women the preachers are.
      In the U S more indigenous women go missing. Yet only white woman like Gabby Petito get any media coverage.
      Assuming an indigenous wife and mother was a sex worker whose out drinking and will soon return are exactly what I would expect of diversity preachers.

  • @Terri_MacKay
    @Terri_MacKay 11 місяців тому +105

    I live in Hamilton, ON, so Pamela's case made the news here, as it was thought that there might be a connection to her disappearance.
    Just one more case of an Indigenous woman going missing, and the police refusing to do any investigation after labeling her as a sex worker and a drug addict, with absolutely no evidence that she was either one. This is such a common police tactic in cases of murdered and missing Indigenous women, it's no wonder that the families of these women usually end up investigating on their own. The way that the police treat cases of missing and murdered Indigenous women, and the way that they treat Indigenous men in general (Starlight Tours!!!) is one of our country's greatest shames. Things must change!!!
    I would also like to make a general statement, not connected to Pamela's case. Sex workers and addicts are actual human beings...very vulnerable, at-risk human beings...and their murders and disappearances should be taken as seriously, and investigated as diligently, as anyone else's. These people have family who love them, who worry about them every day, and the victims and their families deserve justice.

    Having grown up near Table Rock and working at the restaurant there in my teenage years, one thing was not addressed. When you start out on a hike, there is a notebook at the front of the hiking trails that you are supposed to sign in to- I wonder did he sign in? It's very possible he may have fallen or even gotten bitten by a snake- there are places on the trails he could fall from and out of sight - and may still be there to this day.

    I don't think that its always a coincidence that a parent of a missing person dies not too long after tgey go missing because the physical strain on their body over the trauma of not knowing where your child is can be too much to bear and takes its toll on their health to the point that their body can no longer take it they really do die from a broken heart and its truly tragic when that happens

    The US developed the bomb in '45 and the Soviets acquired it by '49. Gene Whitacre vanished in '47, right in between. That's not to say they got any valuable intel from him, but the timing syncs up perfectly with a period of exceptionally aggressive espionage focused on nuclear weaponry.

    The gas station case is yet another in the pattern that was so common: the idiocy of allowing a young women to work alone; nobody doing anything about not seeing her etc. A case exactly like this happened in Harrisonburg VA, never solved. The conduct or lack of conduct by the park in assuming that the young man decided to take a major hike and then just left without his car and blah blah blah--they are supposed to check on the car's arrival dates and usually there is a sticker indicating when they will leave. Families are really on their own in these cases. Thank you for bringing some light into the darkness.

    Family: Our sister has been missing for two weeks in Canada in the middle of winter!
    Police: Oh, she's probably just on a bender and she'll turn up. Oh, and she's also a hooker because we found some private nudie pics while digging around in her computer and not doing anything else. Now go away, we're busy because your investigator has just committed serious crimes.

      @@eggsngritstn I apologize, but I don’t fully understand this; does this mean him being called a deserter is a good thing, because otherwise there would be no investigation? It also prevents his family from receiving VA benefits and stuff, but of course I don’t know the status of his family. It just makes me sad that he would be labeled in such a disrespectful manner when it’s not the most logical situation.

      Normally, the names and details of third parties (witnesses, FBI staff, etc.) are redacted, as is any information relating to investigative techniques. Sometimes these redactions are overbroad.
      That said, I would strongly discourage anyone from publicly questioning any agencies concerned with National Security or Intelligence. If they wish to keep information hidden, it is in nobody's best interests to attempt to disclose it. I have no desire to draw any attention to myself from these agencies.
