He fires multiple shots but the first one that hits always kills. He fires multiple shots potentially for coding when you target multiple enemies in VATS. In my experience, even with infinite AP i've never seen the Mysterious stranger kill more then 6 enemies which would make sense as he has a 6-shooter magnum
Hes a time traveler that is trying to keep the time line in order, your player always is in the middle of major events so he seems to be around the player more then most to keep you alive to make sure events play out as they need to
I wish, however in fallout 4 (can’t remember if 3 and nv are like this) he won’t ever show up without any luck or will be so incredibly rare it will feel like he doesn’t show up, I’m level 50 in my current fo4 playthrough and honestly I forgot he was even in that game haha
He posted in his twitter february " I realized a couple of the unhealthy habits I picked up over the last few months were impacting my writing process, so I’m trying to throw those off before I get back into it. So far so good, down 10lbs since January, lots of gym time One of those unhealthy habits is spending too much time online, so sorry about that. Also, long GME " The twitter is in the info page
The problem, or solution depending on how you see it, is that fallout has enough lore to support why the MS can do what he does. Stealth boys, teleportation, body augmentation, synths.
@litneyloxan listen, as much as FONV is my fav too, modern obsidian is like, 10% of the people who made FONV, and less then that the ppl who made the og fallouts. Don’t hedge your entire bets. It’s like how only 20% of the staff who worked on BF2042 worked on BF4, it’s like how most of the ppl who made B4B had no assiosiation with the creation of L4D, etc etc etc. I mean, look at dead space and the Callisto protocol. I'd argue that answers the least interesting of two questions--it tells us (or at least, theoretically might tell us) the how of the Mysterious Stranger, but does nothing to explain the why.

I like to believe that the strangers were alpha testers of VATS, and that an early glitch trapped them outside of time. Each time you use VATS, it beckons them like a beacon in the time stream, but unfortunately the player doesn't stay in VATS long enough to be able to communicate with them, also removing their anchor in time when VATS ends. I know it is sort of a Dr. Who style theory similar to what happened to Jack Harkness, but I think it fits the lore pretty well, with Vault Tec experiments going wrong and all.
When i was doing the Anchorage Alaska quests a few years ago in fallout 3, the mysterious stranger appeared on a cliff. He didn't even get the chance to shoot, because he slid off of the cliff and fell really far. This caused the vats cutscene to last like ten seconds. It then said "The mysterious stranger is unconscious."
@@hectorandem2944 haha repeatedly. not sure why hey kept saying Mysterious and Miss Fortune shot once and leave when in both instances of saying it, the character is shown just kablamming the hell out of a corpse. My favorite thing was in Bethesda's FO3, half the time the stranger would spawn on the other side of a wall or some debris and just empty his gun into said wall or debris, doing a whole lot of nothing.
So I just noticed something upon replaying after watching this!!!! When you start a new game, there is a pack of Grey Tortoises on the table to the left of the fireplace. If you inspect them, your character will say something to the effect of "now who left those there?"!!!!
Guess the Mysterious Stranger was boinking Nora while her husband was serving. Guess he wanted to start having little Strangers much earlier than we thought... Wait a minute! Dammit Shaun, you just can't stop being a disappointment can you?
I'm glad someone else noticed that. I laughed so hard when I saw that. I bet Nate sifted through hours of footage just to find the one single time he didn't disappear right away. It just works.
I really do like the idea of it being some secret organization that has non-aging time traveling individuals that just go around and shoot people haha It seems like that would almost fit fall out pretty well cuz it's kind of goofy but serious at the same time.
Deckard wasn't a replicant. The book it's based on says that without even a hint of ambiguity. The first movie alludes to the possibility depending on which cut you look at, and the director said he was; but the writer said no, and Harrison Ford - who also said no - says that that they settled that before shooting the sequel. Of more specific evidence is simply his age. Model 7 and earlier replicants had very short lifespans, while Decker was an LAPD veteran in Blade Runner and survived another thirty years by the sequel; but if he was a replicant, he would have been created during the days of model 5's.
@@CrimeFighterFrog Yes, 2 out of 7 cuts implied the idea, but again, if you listen to the story, it makes zero sense. It's impossible. Beyond that, the writer of the source material said no, both of the screen writers said no, Harrison Ford said no. The ONLY person who seemed to think he was a replicant was the director, going against everyone involved in writing the story AS WELL AS THE MOVIE THAT HE HIMSELF DIRECTED AND CUT. Beyond THAT, the writers of the sequel both said he's not a replicant. There is no world in which he has EVER been a replicant. It's just a dumb twist tossed in for no reason that makes no sense and has never existed outside of direct-to-video releases.
@@WraithTDK Agreed, one line shoehorned in "You've done a man's job sir, but are you sure you really are a man" always bothered me, seemed totally squeezed in.
One thing I like about the Mysterious Stranger is that Fallout 76 actually gave some insight on it by showing us the Mistress of Mystery. A pre-war lineup of comics that are actually based on a organization in the Fallout universe. A group of female agents that are more or less a spy network. The Mysterious Strangers are likely a spy network of their own, housing a larger group of agents that are discovered by a mostly now ancient mainframe from the pre-war that finds the capable men, trains them and gives them the required technology to carry out their purpose. Helping very specific clients. My best guess is they use a mixture of teleportation technology and stealth suits to teleport it, kill what needs to be killed then either teleport out of use the stealth suit to "disappear". They're more or less a group of assassins but aren't paid in caps or money but rather in honor and possibly higher rankings within their phantom organization. They could even very well be assigned to help out key people with specific pipboy models and can track those individuals using their pipboys as bait. If they are indeed apart of vault tec or at least associated with them it really begs the question on how close their relationship actually is. Personally I think they're just a neutral organization that kills whomever their clients need killed.
It's so weird because this was around the time I stopped watching his content religiously ending in this video. I'm back and ready for more and there isn't more. I thought I'd have to do a whole lot of catching up lol. I hope he's doing alright and is taking all the time he needs.

24:30 dont forget about facial reconstruction surgery. During fallout 4's rail road mission: "Tradecraft," Deacon states that he has gone through the surgery before so its not impossible for the MS to do it as well.
@@james737er the terminal mystery and the Dunwhich borers, along with potentially the Zetans, The interlopers (there's two now), and the Cabot family (that was their name right?). Or M'aiq could just be lying about the whole thing, its pretty fifty fifty when you take in to account who said it.
I think the reason Nick is the only one that reacts to the Mysterious Stranger is because that aside from the player being able to slow time, Nick and other synths perceive everything differently, possibly faster, explaining how Nick sees him while you're in VATS when nobody else does.
Nick reacts due to he is a "detective" he has a file under a bed in his "agency" named "the mysterious stranger" so it is clear that nick might be trying to catch the mysterious stranger and get a identity from the stranger
@@ghostcrusader487 exactly how you said X6 88 will not react because it’s not his priority sure his priority is getting synths back but once you have him as a companion his priority shifts to protect the player so if the mysterious stranger was a synth then he wouldn’t react because he doesn’t have to or program to at the time but Nick is a detective so he Reacts because he has a case against them meaning it’s technically in Nick’s programming

I remember waisting countless hours at school discussing this game with my friends & those memories are tied to this channel; thank you Nate for the therapeutic, high-quality, thought provoking content which you’ve been able to consistently replicate over the years.
The Mysterious Stranger is actually a Dwemer Tonal Architect (hence his obsession with music riffs) that got displaced to an alternate universe when the Dwemer disappeared, and has since been struggling to fit in. Every so often he tries to jump back home, but in a Quantum Leap (anyone remember that show?) like constant path of faux pas blunders keeps being pulled to some seemingly random person ... whom always ends up changing the course of history.
@@200131240 Except for the fact that TES is on Nirn and has magic and elves, and Fallout is on Earth and has Dunwich Horrors and mutants. They could not possibly be the same planet, there is literally no way. Same universe, maybe, but same planet? Heck no.
@@darklordthomaspie6293 You forget the ultimate explanation for anything in a universe like TES. Because magic. Seriously though, there are countless powers in TES that could conceivably change the entire world one way or the other. Changing Earth into Nirn or vice versa. It could even serve as a means to explain things like the Dunwich Horror. That being said, TES also has multiple worlds/planes of existence so if there were a connection it would be more likely to be on that level. Maybe Fallout actually takes place in the mad god's realm.
@@darklordthomaspie6293 Sure, if it were in his realm specifically it wouldn't be the same planet and I was agreeing with you on that point. That being said, the mad god would be among the powers great enough to just say "the hell with it" and completely change the world of Nirn into whatever he wanted. In that way, and many others, Nirn and Earth could technically be the same world just changed by some great power that got bored of things as they were. AKA, because magic.
I haven't seen this get pointed out yet, but the lady on the left side of the "The Man who Stopped Time" cover looks kinda like Miss Fortune in the same way that the man kinda looks like MS, you can even see she's wearing similar lingerie (By the way, lingerie is such a terrible word to spell, thanks France)
And by searching the Fallout wiki I remember that Miss Fortune has the Mysterious Stranger outfit (it looks like that when it's worn on female characters in New Vegas), which makes it *even more* relevant.
I like to imagine he's a time traveller. Either from the prewar and just going through the world which could explain why he was younger looking than his son. Or from the future and is trying to ensure his timeline comes to pass. Like the red monk from the Chzo mythos. He /seems/ to be helping you, but he's just trying to help create the world that created him. That's why he'll kill anyone or anything the player targets. He knows your character is or will be important, You're his John Connor.
The following is just something I'm playing around with next day. Not my head cannon but maybe someone else can make more sense of this than I can. I just realized something, the comic "The man who froze time" and the silver shroud possible connections. What if he's been time traveling since before the great war. He could be an urban legend or myth that inspired both comics. This could work if he was from the past or the future. Trying to explain the Nick angle with this personal theory. If either when he first went back or when he first got the powers he was given them by the institute as a result of them trying to figure out the time bending (Or at least perception of time bending) properties of VATS or if he came to them to try to fix him. Maybe Nick was an ancestor that he was looking to protect much like the players and the institute looked to Nick to figure out if there was a genetic component or something along those lines. Just food for thought.
Jr G no, in China there is/was a “Fallout Shelter Online.” It’s different than the one we get to play, and I can’t remember all of the legal nonsense about why we aren’t allowed to have it
He pinned an update on Twitter today. His Twitter is in the "about" tab here on his channel. In short he isn't coming back anytime soon and still needs more time off.
A few clarification points, the silver shroud and the mistress of mysteries are not married yet are more like superman and wonder woman fellow heroes who at times are depicted as romantically connected. Shannon rivers was the actress who was long the voice of the mistress in radio drama and when the silver shroud was being made into a TV show was nervous about physically playing the character, to help her husband built her a cave of mysteries and hired trainers to help her get in character (he even contacted one Kent Connolly in Boston to get the design prefect) then at the last minute the studio decided to replace rivers with a younger woman Shannon returned home devastated only for the world to end a few weeks later.
I personally think the mysterious stranger and miss fortune belong to a group of time travellers, who arrive at specific events where important individuals potentially face death, individuals who are important for the future. Fallout 3 - the lone wanderer uses the GECK on the water purifier. Fallout New Vegas - whichever the courier sides with gains control over hoover dam and New Vegas. Fallout 4 - the sole survivor rebuilds Sanctuary
My theory is that the sole-survivor and all the other PCs are Chinese Sleeper agents, who unbeknownst to those around them are hell bent on destroying everything, let me list... 1 destroying megaton 2 prevent the enclave from saving the us from mutants 3 bloodlust of the player, ie killing everything 4 vats as a inate cybernetic enhancement 5 never breaks into tears when surveying the wasteland ie emotionally dead All in all a total Manchurian candidate bruh.mp4
I like the idea that they are interdimensional beings that help you because they are trying to keep a certain timeline happening. You are usually the one thing that shakes everything up, so of course the beings may want to help you get somewhere every now and then.

Did I miss it, or did he never mention the fact that in Fallout 4, the Mysterious Stranger's outfit looks very similar to the Vault-Tec Rep's? Combined with the association with V.A.T.S., I'm thinking the MS has some connection to Vault-Tec. Can anyone with more experience in the games tell me if we ever see any other Vault-Tec field representatives that might be able to help us figure out if that was a standard look for their employees or just a coincidence in personal tastes?
As far as I'm aware he's the only Vault-Tec employee we ever see not wearing a Vault Suit or a Lab Coat, including all of the corpses in the various vaults and the Vault-Tec corporate offices.
@@thesun5275 Yeah, I wasn't meaning that the Vault-Tec Rep IS the Mysterious Stranger; just that the similarities in outfit and the association with V.A.T.S. make me think he's connected to Vault-Tec somehow.

It is possible that the Mysterious Stranger is actually just a possible human who slowed aging somehow. He wander’s the wasteland to just keep exploring, if he sees a new character/factor changing the place he’s visiting and catching his interest. Good or evil he likes the new entertainment and becomes kinda a guardian angel to the new character just to see where it goes. If I was slow aging being, that’s what I would do to keep myself entertained.
With multiple immortals in the games (the little girl from Mothership Zeta has been awake and unaging since she was abducted, the Cabots, and by implication the MS.
The Mysterious Stranger is a Time Lord from Doctor Who. He's always the same person, but occasionally changes appearance because of regeneration. He can manipulate space and time. He has a title name (like The Doctor or The Master). He's described as an eldritch deity but is also someone who goes around helping with totally mundane events. It actually fits way too much.
2 things: 1: there is also the question on why he only helps the player, if he was helpful in general you would think we would fight him at some point if he decides to help our enemy 2: if we are wondering where he came from and where he went, it is clear the Mysterious Stranger is Cotton Eye Joe
"Looks 25 tops but is supposed to the the drifters father? His son looks older than him. Oonly possible explanation is time travel, supernatural powers, advanced tech enenhancement." Me, 27 year old that looks 12: *chuckling nervously*
The Mysterious Strangers are synths made from the consciousness of the original Nick Valentine, and uses the tech of time travel and such, but our companion Valentine couldnt so he was discarded. Which is why they all look different, but have the same patterns in conscience (like outfit choice and story). The man who was his son in New Vegas was son to the REAL one. As his way of proving he truly was a person, and perhaps hopes he will be the successor. It also could mean Miss Fortune is a synth, and that the institute possesses time travel tech as well
But if all these synths look different how come the LonesomenDrifter and the falloutn3/NV Mysterious stranger look very much like him. And if they are the real father then we get back to the issue of the age discrepancy. Also the synths don't have the technology to teloprt on their own they require the institute and it's a huge spectacle it's not something you can do silently.

Something that caught my attention when you mentioned that the FO3 description of the MS refers to him as 'Farmer'. Doubt there's any real connection at all, but doesn't FO4's Deacon refer to himself as 'A former Farmer' if you get his approval up far enough. Slap a trench coat and fedora on that man and he even looks the part. Given how much else he obfuscates about himself, beginning to wonder if his mysterious wife might have actually been a Miss Fortune and him a Mysterious Stranger-in-training. Would certainly help explain how he always seems to get where you're going before you.
Nate, I can't believe you missed the fact that the reason that Frederick did all of that for Shannon was Shannon was the actress who portrayed the Mistress of Mystery on the Silver Shroud radio program. When Hubris decided to make a TV series, Shannon thought she was going to play the Mistress so with her Husband's help, she trained to be able to do everything that Mistress was supposed to able to do. Then she got bumped at the last minute for a 'hotter' actress and went back to Appalachia.
a younger ditzy actress that even the comic writers thought was awful for it. you can read about it in fallout 4 upstairs at the hubris comics shop, also frederick was not rich, he hated the way science was all about profit and they lived off of her acting work, He also was not a huge silver shroud fan his terminal explains that when he was designing the lair of mystery he kept in contact with a super fan a man named Kent Connolly who had no clue that his pen pal was actually building the place. Sadly its pretty clear from the tapes that the order of mysteries was destroyed though we are unsure about the ultimate fate of frederick. Ultimately it seems unlikely there is a direct connection between the order of mysteries and the stranger.
*No, Decker was always a human. Roy Batty mopped the floor with him. If Decker was a Rep he'd have been able to fight Roy as an equal.* *Plus Replicants have a limited lifespan. If Decker was a Rep he wouldn't be alive in the sequel, which takes place 3 or 4 decades later. But he's there, and an old man to boot. Meaning he couldn't possibly be a Replicant*
Exactly! Thank you, I was looking for this comment before making one of my own. I also believe Tyrell made Rachel specifically to seduce Deckard. Tyrell's grand plan was to make replicants that could reproduce on their own. He perfected one half with Rachel and picked a human, Deckard, for the other half. It is the great mystery that Wallace was trying to unlock in 2049.
@@InspiretoVictory *Thanks. Besides Decker being a human contrasts with Roy. Roy wanted to live and was desperate. Decker had what Roy wanted, to be able to continue living, but was depressed and taking his life for granted.* *I feel that makes for a better narrative and makes an excellent point. Even if your life isn't great, at least you're still alive and might just still be able to do something with it. Each day you live might be just the day you need. I imagine it would anger Roy that Decker is taking what he treasures for granted.* *I'd also like to recommend an anime called SPIRAL. It bears many thematic parrallels to Blade Runner like Bio-engineered people with a limited lifespan and their desperation, and a depressed antagonist taking life for granted.*
Except Roy was Specifically a combat model. Decker may have been a different model. I personally don't buy that Decker was a replicant, and I think 2049 pretty much agrees, meaning he never was.
My dream for Fallout 5: Mysterious Stranger Perk goes off. Guitar line goes off. Enemy seems confused, looks around, before looking behind them to see the Lonesome Drifter standing with his hands on the guitar... And the Mysterious Stranger walks past him and caps the Enemy twice, the second tap with a 100% accuracy rate and enough damage to take down a Courser.
We miss you Nate! Good luck with quarantine, breaking up, and any other hard stuff happening. You are an amazing UA-camr, and we hope to hear that amazing "Hey, how's it goin' guys?" again.
I think I found an other Mysterious Stranger in Fallout 4 you didn't mention and that's Stranger can also use VATS and slow time.. The Mysterious Stranger is : -Rewarded by Worn Fedora after rescuing Nick (same fedora of Nick) . -Became a Detective after and go to Far Harbor looking for missing Girl. -In Far Harbor, you will meet a old lady Cassie Dalton (she also had a Farm, so is she a farmer ?), and she will quote : "Ah, but now our story takes an unexpected turn. A 'Mysterious Stranger' comes to Far Harbor, someone strong, someone capable." It's You.
I have believed for YEARS that Fo4's Mysterious Stranger was "Nick 3.0" -- a Gen 3 synth duplicate of Prewar detective Nick Valentine. Glad you found even MORE evidence of that. I think this should be labelled as the "Nick 3.0" theory. I believe he sees the Player Character as a stabilizing force--- I mean, we come into a region in conflict, choose a side, and lead that side to victory thus ending the conflict and bringing peace & stability to the region. The Stranger doesn't choose for us-- he lets humans choose our own destinies & leaders... he just helps keep things peaceful. The Stranger monitors VATS through our Pip Boy, secretly.. and when we fail to kill an enemy we have targeted, he believes we might be in danger... so he uses stolen Institute teleporting tech to appear, save us, and then quickly disappear. But.. regarding the Lonesome Drifter, and how his father can also be a synth & Mysterious Stranger: I say the FO3 and FNV Stranger is a totally different synth from the one in FO4. How can he be the father of the Lonesome Drifter, though? Easily.... the Lonesome Drifter's REAL father was killed and replaced by a lookalike gen 3 synth, when the Drifter was just a baby. This syth believed he was the Drifter's father--- a farmer in Montana (Maybe that's why he's called Farmer?) --- but he was described as 'like a stranger, sometimes' and 'real mysterious'...this is because he didn't KNOW he was a synth, and sometimes his 'synth personality' would take over, leave home to complete a mission, and he'd return home with no memory of where he'd been, or how long he'd been gone. Eventually, he broke away from the control, regained his "full" memories... and was shattered to realize his life was a lie!!! He abandoned his family.... due to his love for them, his fear that he could hurt them, and his shame that he'd already done so, by killing their REAL husband and father, whom he had replaced. Eventually he ran toward the Commonwealth, intending to get revenge--- but on the way, he met FO4's mysterious stranger. They became friends, and "Nick 3.0" convinced him to abandon his despair, and devote his existence, instead of to revenge, to using his unique powers to aid others. The FO3 Mysterious Stranger now dresses like Nick in a fedora and trenchcoat, as an homage, and he uses the same stolen institute technology to aid random wanderers.

summary: Basically Nick Valentine's personality and memories came from the Mysterious Stranger, but the original human Nick Valentine went on to somehow gain eldritch time manipulation abilities. For a long time he only believed he was immortal and eventually even had a son, but eventually he learned how to travel though time, and is mostly likely using that power to protect the protagonists, whose survival are imperative to a certain outcome in history.
The Mysterious Stranger is the Nerevarine. Has the title of the stranger due to The Prophecy of The Stranger Doesn't age? through the Second Trial, neither blight nor age can harm him (blight could be construed as radiation sickness) check. Can teleport via some mystical power? Almsivi/Divine Intervention, Mark/Recall check. Has a unique weapon that 'fires' at enemies? Trueflame, check. Must preserve the timeline? @@shadysam7161 Nerevar was a dark elf yes, but the nerevarine was not bound to be the same as the original by the prophecies, the nerevarine could be any of the races of tamriel, he just had to fit all of the trials.
My best guess is that the mysterious strangers are synths. They are "eldritch" in the sense that they teleport in and teleport out (e.g. ghostlike) which makes them much like rogue courser synths. There definitely appears to be a tie in with Nick Valentine. The Frederick River tie in seems plausible as he is wealthy with wealthy connections. Perhaps he carried on his legacy of crime fighting by making/stealing/buying/modifying courser synths to be teleporting superheroes throughout time (both men and women). Maybe Nick Valentine's origin story ties in there somewhere.
Coursers aren't able to teleport on their own though. It's only through the Institute's relay that they're able to teleport. The chips they have are basically just a combination of login credentials and homing beacon. The Sole Survivor is even given one of these chips and has it integrated into their pipboy by Father after they infiltrate the Institute for the first time, but they lose the ability to teleport into the Institute after making enemies of them, since their login credentials are basically wiped from the system.
By the time of events in Fallout 1, gen 3 synths have not existed yet. Beside that, why would institute send a high-tech synth to east coast where their area of influence was bad at given time

I was thinking the same thing and if anything deacon is very similar to Deckard
Thank you, this bothered me also. Funny he didn't mention "that gun"
The movies is not a whole lot like the book and it heavily implies, I would say downright confirms with the directors cut, that Deckard is a replicant

@@james737er the terminal mystery and the Dunwhich borers, along with potentially the Zetans, The interlopers (there's two now), and the Cabot family (that was their name right?). And theirs also room for a few more Elder Scrolls mysteries to pop in, heck I just realized the Elder Scrolls themselves could join the ranks of the Horseman of Mysteriousness.
Wouldn’t curie have a response a well then?
Curie is a Ms Nanny. But the courser follower would also be able to detect him. As hes a synth.
Nah, the courser guy (X6-88), doesn't react to the mysterious stranger and he is much more advanced than Nick... so nah I don't think so.

Just Some Person More proof TES and Fallout are in the same world!
@@cyborgt3601 That is quite possible, but even then it wouldn't be the same planet. It may be in Mundus, but it's not in Nirn.
@@darklordthomaspie6293 Sure, if it were in his realm specifically it wouldn't be the same planet and I was agreeing with you on that point.
Mother of God 🧐
The Chzo mythos! It's been a while since I heard that title, and coincidentally I'd been thinking about it for the past few days!

Also also if the institute had time travel the would have most likely already taken over the world.
In time, which events of Fallout 1 take place, institute was far from making gen 3 synths, so that theory cant be true
The mysterious stranger in fallout 1 wore leather armor tho
He's in the American fallout shelter too. You find him hiding in rooms and win caps

why can't people make normal decent games for mobile? like, its been proved its possible, but mobile users just seem to be ok with this and companies get away with just pumping out endless amount of these? mobile is a wasted platform
@@kvproductions2581 To be honest, I would say that the mechanics and the ideas behind the Fallout Shelter game are actually pretty good. What makes it so infuriating is the clearly corporate-mandated artificial roadblocks enacted into the gameplay to squeeze money out of the player. Remove the long waits, provide some depth to the core base-building and combat and I think you could have a fun management / tactics game. Of course, that's never going to happen, but still.
@@paradoxicaloutcome1007 basically you're saying "it has potential but they didnt use it cause they dont care about a good game, just about a cash grab" which can be said about any of those stupid mobile cashgrabs.

I like the idea that he's the original Nick Valentine who somehow got his hands on some institute tech similar to what Kellogg had.
We should all strive to be like the mysterious stranger. Helping others before they ask and leave without expecting anything in return.
And helping others kill just about anyone, including innocent people.
I rather be like Randall Clark or Joshua Graham (Minus the whole Religious thing). Kill those not out of revenge, But because they deserve punishment.

*No, Decker was always a human. Roy Batty mopped the floor with him. If Decker was a Rep he'd have been able to fight Roy as an equal.*
*Plus Replicants have a limited lifespan.
He might have confused it with 2049, where the protagonist is a replicant.
@@InspiretoVictory *Thanks. Besides Decker being a human contrasts with Roy. Roy wanted to live and was desperate. Decker had what Roy wanted, to be able to continue living, but was depressed and taking his life for granted.*
*I feel that makes for a better narrative and makes an excellent point. Even if your life isn't great, at least you're still alive and might just still be able to do something with it. Each day you live might be just the day you need. I imagine it would anger Roy that Decker is taking what he treasures for granted.*
*I'd also like to recommend an anime called SPIRAL. It bears many thematic parrallels to Blade Runner like Bio-engineered people with a limited lifespan and their desperation, and a depressed antagonist taking life for granted.*
*You may just be right.*
Except Roy was Specifically a combat model. Decker may have been a different model. I personally don't buy that Decker was a replicant, and I think 2049 pretty much agrees, meaning he never was.
Nates becoming the mysterious stranger
My dream for Fallout 5:
Mysterious Stranger Perk goes off.

I think I found an other Mysterious Stranger in Fallout 4 you didn't mention and that's Stranger can also use VATS and slow time..
The Mysterious Stranger is :
-Rewarded by Worn Fedora after rescuing Nick (same fedora of Nick) .
-Became a Detective after and go to Far Harbor looking for missing Girl.
-In Far Harbor, you will meet a old lady Cassie Dalton (she also had a Farm, so is she a farmer ?),
and she will quote : "Ah, but now our story takes an unexpected turn. A 'Mysterious Stranger' comes to Far Harbor, someone strong, someone capable."
It's You.
You turned the teleport tech into time travel tech, and ensured things happened the right way.
Nate left as mysteriously as he appeared onto the platform
Maybe he was the mysterious stranger all along.
But.. regarding the Lonesome Drifter, and how his father can also be a synth & Mysterious Stranger:
I say the FO3 and FNV Stranger is a totally different synth from the one in FO4.
This is the best theory I've heard this far. Well thought out!!

summary: Basically Nick Valentine's personality and memories came from the Mysterious Stranger, but the original human Nick Valentine went on to somehow gain eldritch time manipulation abilities. For a long time he only believed he was immortal and eventually even had a son, but eventually he learned how to travel though time, and is mostly likely using that power to protect the protagonists, whose survival are imperative to a certain outcome in history.
The Mysterious Stranger is the Nerevarine.
Has the title of the stranger due to The Prophecy of The Stranger
Doesn't age? through the Second Trial, neither blight nor age can harm him (blight could be construed as radiation sickness) check.
Can teleport via some mystical power? Almsivi/Divine Intervention, Mark/Recall check.
Has a unique weapon that 'fires' at enemies? Trueflame, check.
Must preserve the timeline? "With this character's death, the thread of prophecy is severed. Restore a saved game to restore the weave of fate, or persist in the doomed world you have created." Check.

Synths can’t breed, so how do you explain the son in new vegas
He has a biological son. So not a synth
By the time of events in Fallout 1, gen 3 synths have not existed yet. Beside that, why would institute send a high-tech synth to east coast where their area of influence was bad at given time
ironically, Nate is slowly turning into a mysterious stranger himself... 😕
