Nice review man, I'm new to the fight stick scene but I think your review has cinched it for the Monoprice stick for me. I've had a good experience with their other gear in the past and I like the aesthetic of the Dark Matter stick.
@@bruiseleroy008 Yep, I got the Dark Matter stick a week ago and I managed to nab it from Walmart online for only 95 bucks before tax! Super steal getting Sanwa parts at this price point. I've already swapped out the gate for a true octagonal and I'm looking into some custom art. Think I might've found a new niche of hardware I want to start collecting. Thanks again for your video, man!
Full Sanwa?!? This is really nice for that price, it's a steal! Comes with features like the USB cable door that other sticks offer for double this price. This was a great review. What would had killed it even further is if you talked about the build material. How is the plastic? Premium or meh? This thing is great and easy to mod even further, which makes this an even better value!
You pushed me into it. I came here comparing to the MF F700. I thought I was really going with the Mayflash but the more I researched the more I wanted the dark matter. It's been ordered and will be here in 2 days. Beyond pumped! Great review! 🎉
@@jdizzle1779 I'm on day 4. So far, I'm head over heals in love. For the price point it's everything I wanted. The sticks and buttons feel exactly how you'd expect, and the box build feels very sturdy without being overly heavy. The stock artwork doesn't pop in color quite like I had hoped, but it still looks incredible. The mod switches, and l3 +r3 buttons are a very nice touch. I had been looking for a pair of sticks like this for my Launchbox / BigBox set up. I will be getting another... And when I do... My son is gonna freak! A very welcome purchase! Would highly recommend.
@BruiseLeroy I took it apart and felt the wireless board was over my head. I just swapped the actuator to 1mm with a Lil grease, 4 lb spring and octogate and now it's perfect.
i just bought one. i was hesitant as i have had steering wheels in the past that are set-up with having to plug an Xbox controller into it to make the Xbox recognize it and didnt like them very much. i figured it would work better with an arcade stick over a wheel. it was this or the 8bitdo but i like the bigger size of this board.
Wow what are the odds, 😅I was listening then heard the song at 2:30 mark that I've been using for months as my Ending Stream music... made me think my OBS scene had been clicked by mistake
You would definitely do better with the Razer Panthera EVO instead. I have the Prototype Atrox over a decade ago and the creaking problem was my main complaint and loose USB Type B connection as feedback. Monoprice Darkmatter is probably my main recommendation as it has probably one of the better form factor design and with the money you're saving, if anyone really wanted to play on consoles without the controller piggyback, just invest in a Brook Wingman converter for an extra $40 - $50.
Great review. However, this looks like a GameSir C2 with a Dark Matter template rather than an actual Dark Matter stick. While they are essentially the same, and have many other names, the button signs on the acrylic piece are all different. With an original Dark Matter unfortunately being more bland than the one you have, in case someone really likes the way yours looks. Also worth noting if someone wants a wireless version, look at the LeEco LEGFS-201.
Scored this for $99. This is the best fight stick for the price. This is my daily driver. Easy to mod too. I swapped out the lever for a Crown 309-mj, and the buttons with gamerfingers. Great stick!
This is just the information I was looking for! I play Tekken 7 and I’m a Mishima player and I heard that Korean lever is more optimal so I was wondering if this stick was compatible with K lever I’m glad you answered the question I haven’t been able to find an answer to so thanks a lot! You just cleared up my apprehension for choosing to buy this as my first arcade stick!
Wow! It's a great deal at retail....$99 is crazy good! That custom setup sounds awesome, and I might try out some different components as well. Enjoy it!
@@bruiseleroy008 Thanks. I have been. I may go with a sanjucks lever or the Knee lever to try out next. But so far the only think I haven’t done is swap out the art. Not that it’s hard. I’m just too busy enjoying playing Tekken 7, Guilty Gear Strive, Melty Blood, etc..
In the UK you can get this stick but it’s called the DRAGON SLAY Universal Arcade Fight Stick, bit of a mouthful 😂 but would agree it’s a fantastic bit of kit.
why do they come in square gates by default.. I hate square gates so much... I remember buying the sf4 for ps3 and when I opened them to find a square gate. I was so pissed. I had to order them and wait 6 weeks for delivery..
I'm basically a new fighting game player and was looking for some good advice. I recently bought Guilty Gear Strive which is very well done in terms of tutorials, missions and combo guide. Is this arcade stick good for getting started? Also, it is also compatible with PS5 system? A thousand thanks. Ready to hear other suggestions. Thanks!
True, most of the enthusiast and above grade sticks like these come with Sanwa, probably because they are one of the highest in demand. Luckily Seimitsu levers can be had at about $20-$30, and wouldn't be hard to swap into this chassis.
Please reply to this comment because it’s important for me to know before I buy this stick; am I able to swap out the Japanese lever for a Korean lever? I hear Korean lever is best for me based on the characters I play for Tekken 7 but to my understanding not all sticks are compatible with fitting a Korean lever in them so I need to know.
Sorry, but I've never used a korean lever, but I do read people switching from the JLF and back again, so it should be compatible. What does the wiring setup look like on a korean lever vs the 5-pin on the JLF? There are plenty of conversion harnesses available, if needed...
Think you responded to me. But YES YOU CAN! Haha. I have the Crown-309-mj in mine now. Before that I had the Taeyoung Fanta. Both works flawlessly. The 309 battop feels better in my hands.

Dude I was really enjoying the video until the point you showed the Rattle..... the rattle is not in Panthera. Its on the table or the way its kept on the table. Sorry you feel that way, but I assure you that the rattles and squeaks are coming 100% from the Panthera and not the desk. Nothing else against it, but it is very creaky during use. Kudos to you if the Panthera is your go-to stick, it just isn't for me, and there's no reason for me to knock it for no reason.
