There's actually an underground group of _keyboard_ users who only play each other so that they don't have to destroy everyone else in every tournament.
I am a noob regarding fighting games, but having tested keyboard, fighting stick and controller got to say: With keyboard I never miss an input and can pull crazy combos as if I knew what I am doing lol Have a cheap controller so D pad is garbage and have to use the analog stick, works ok for the most part, but cant really forward dash reliably wich sucks. @@rhondahoward8025 yeah, I play on PC, I use keyboard on marvel vs capcom 2 all the time :) works like a charm on all my emulated old arcade fighting games, not sure if you could plug a keyboard on consoles but there might be a way.
Playing with an arcade stick is so much more engaging and it helps keeping the arcade culture alive and even taking it further. Parts like the Sanwa JLF + OBSF and LS-32 + PS-14-G /GN have been around since the 80's and they still are great but now with the popularity of arcade sticks and fighting games there's a lot more mods and new models and new manufacturers that there's ever been. Although i don't feel the need to mod my sticks, every one has their own playstyle and everyone can find just the right parts.
When I started sf5, I played on a pad and was losing constantly. The button layout on the pad was just too spread out and exhausting on my hand. I picked up a Mayflash and noticed an immediate improvement in my play. Eventually modded it with Sanwa parts, which made it feel even better. Now I play on a custom stick I built from a case I bought online. Have an LS 32 and Sanwa buttons in it. I will never play arcade games on a pad again. The stick feels too good, and the customization options are amazing.
Jinjo Bread yea, it definitely has a different style to it, not everyone will fit the pad, maybe you are meant for the stick all along 😊❤️ thank you for watching 🙏
I just picked up the Hori Pro 4 Kai, my first fight stick! Its a bit of a change from a playstation pad, but after a few hours of use it feels great! No more torn up thumbs!
1 year later how do you feel about the Hori Pro 4 Kai stick? I want to move to a fight stick. Your comment stood out because you were moving from a fight pad too
@@shahryarrizvi1 It’s been great honestly. Iv put it through hell and it’s held up extremely well. Movement based moves like quarter circle etc are so much easier to pull off and have become a reflex at this point. I highly recommend the stick.
@@aliencannonball nice I actually ordered it and got to play with it for the first time a couple of nights ago. There's definitely going to be a learning curve for me. I was originally going to get the Drone and do the joystick and buttons swap, but then saw the Hori at amazon warehouse for a discount so it seemed worth it to just go this route instead cheaper, but then modding. That said, have you done any modding? I'm interested in an octogan gate. you mentioned how much easier the fireballs are for you, but for me, that's so far the hardest thing. I've seen some people say with the octagon, it gets easier. The other item I'm interested in modding is putting in the bat stick (?). I think that's what it's called. That resembles what the old arcade joysticks were like I believe.
@@shahryarrizvi1 When doing motions with stick, focus on the beginning and the end directions. Eg quarter circle, press down, then round up and focus on pressing it forward. Do not ride the square gate all the way, you will get stuck on the diagonal. Relax your grip and wrist. Flow with the motion and be one with the joystick. Ok, that last bit is rubbish but you get my point lol.
This video is GOLD!! I love the technical part comparing the two by showing your devices and the game at the same time using different characters, which I don't see in other videos!
I noticed people online really take this fighting so seriously even they're not going to win any tournaments in their life. It made made them crazy so i will do the opposite and take it easy. I really like the games.
Any time I ever played Sf or mortal Kimbra growing up was on an arcade cabinet. When I got older and wanted to play sf4 then sf5 competitively I bought a stick, instant results. I feel whatever your most comfortable with is whatever you’ll be the best with.
This is easily my favorite video on the differences between pad and stick! I have an arcade stick, hitbox, and pad and enjoy playing them all because the real joy is getting to play fighting games, and like you said in the video, there are advantages and disadvantages for each. I feel like my movement is better on pad and hitbox but that my special moves/supers are better on stick (I have more experience with fighting games on stick). I prefer stick but still practice on pad on occasion because it is easier to pack when going to a friend's house and I don't want my friends to wreck me!
There are certain commands that are very difficult to do on a D pad, such as the games "Guilty Gear, The King of Fighters and Samuray Shadow". With an optical arcade control it is easily executed.
seren dipitous those are great sticks to start, i noticed they raised the price on the qanba drone recently, it was 55-60, i checked yesterday as i was looking for qanba drone photos for my video, now is like 70$. And you can upgrade the parts in the future when you get familiar with them. 👍 good job
@@JoystickNY Thanks! Yeah, I picked up the Qanba Evo Drone since it already had the Sanwa joystick and buttons. Once I'm more accustomed to it, I may switch to a Seimitsu joystick. But I'm loving the experience so far! Thanks for your videos. They're very informative in the decisions I make regarding fightsticks! Best wishes!
I wanted a non-hori arcade stick but then ironically I bought a Hori Tekken edition and I love it. Regardless of having accuracy issues I rather choose an arcade stick over the joystick
I’m a pad player and my game is tekken but I really have considered getting an arcade stick Ive always liked how you can customise the stick with parts and whatever art you want on it
CJ-HD-GAME thank you for dropping by, i would 1000% recommend giving stick a try, it is very satisfying, i use pad sometimes too, but i am more comfortable with stick, i am actually making a video on how to use a stick, a couple of my viewers ask me to show them how i use a stick, so this video is going to give them a reference, hopefully it can help some viewers out, 🙏❤️
Can’t wait for that guide to come out I’ve already subbed this video was amazing you deserve more subs the stick I’ve been thinking is nacon Daija or mad catz te2+
i m pretty sure the nacon is amazing, but the design feels like dust is gonna get trap in those patterns small holes over time, but i never actually own a nacon before, i would love to test one out in the future. Madcatz is great too, cant go wrong with it, let me know which ever you purchased in the future.
Just bought a MayFlash F300 and I'm in love with it! I've been using controllers for 20 or so years on fighters, always sucked on the sticks growing up. But just decided to buy one just for the hell of it and play around, and I'm loving it! Still getting use to it with fighters but so far so good.
there are hdmi splitters you can get. basically the PS4 will plug into a relay box that relays two hdmi outputs to be received by two monitors. i set it up that way a lot.
Personally I prefer a pad, the dpad on the xbox one controller works really well for tight/difficult inputs for me, and it's also nice and clicky but not too loud. It also works well for the games I personally play. I think arcade sticks are still really cool though.
Personally I think the aspect with the tiredness is the most important. I often feel pain in my thumbs and the back of my hands when I grind longer sessions with a pad. Sticks are far more comfortable and I use them for all types of arcadelike games. Sticks can also be very precise in games like Danmaku Shooters which often require pixel perfect positioning.
Also aside from being much easier on my wrists and the tendons in my hand and all that, one advantage to switching to stick is that I eliminated all of my bad muscle memory habits. I had to relearn from the beginning and I made sure I wasn't doing the same stupid stuff I had been doing for the last three decades.
I try to solve a lot of these issues by having a small fightstick for traveling purposes that is light on my back. Yes, people, in my own experience I had cramps on my legs when I had a big fightstick on my lap while gaming, it hurts like hell. (and no, not the Hori mini stick). Having silent washers for each of the buttons for quiet gameplay at night helps as well and especially when you go to a tournament where people will hear your buttons to read your moves on the character you're playing as.
@@sherpa6844 When a pad breaks down you'll know because directions/buttons stop working. A control pad like a PS4 pad can last you 50 years though. Only the analog stick rubber wears out but fighting games use the d-pad.
I am very happy to hear that lol 😂 when i edit my video and hear my self on repeat, ii always find my speaking and voice not good 🤣 i plan to take some communication classes when schools are open 🙏❤️ thank you for the love and support
Great video! For customization, I have modified all of my ps4 controllers to have individual directional buttons, as opposed to the stock d-pad, which is all one piece. This helps avoid unintentional inputs and the mod only costs about $20 per controller if you install yourself. This is a common modification for using a dualshock for games such as MK11 or Dragonball FighterZ. I learned of this PS4 controller improvement by watching Maximilian Dood here on UA-cam.
A small correction friend. I understand the confusion because in sfiv rapid button commands (ie Honda hands, blanka electricity) were 5 buttons, however, in Sfv they changed requirements to only 4 buttons, so they're even easier to perform now on both pad and stick. But regardless of button requirements, I still agree with your call that mash specials are still far easier on stick.
The only options I ever had were key keyboard or a pad. I was introduced to arcade sticks wayy later so I wasn't able to learn them. But for easy learning of the basics of movement you can never go wrong with wasd keys.
Maybe because I've used the playstation dpad since I was a kid, but it just feels faster doing motions on it compared to stick. Another thing that still feels awkward on stick is doing any motion that involves a jump. It feels like there's a lot of room for movement on the stick compared to a pad. I don't understand how pro players get such precise movement so well on stick. A few reasons I'd go for a hitbox now is maybe to not have to worry about desyncing a controller, and to also eliminate the possibility of lag from the bluetooth on DS4 (because you know.... that's the ONLY reason I'm not at Daigo's level...). Would like to try the brooks ps2 converter for ps4 to use a ps1 pad though.
jon i feel you, btw my next video is going to be tips on how to use an arcade stick, i ll let you know when its up, hopefully it can help u transition if you were looking to give arcade stick another try 👍
I got an arcade stick just to play fighting games, so I never really tried playing on pad seriously. I'm also putting together a hitbox right now, as well as a Korean style setup with a Crown lever as my Tekken stick. I think getting a fightstick is kind of like buying a new console or at least a major add-on, cuz it really changes the game and how you play. Like how you get a PSVR to play VR games, you get a fightstick for fighting games. And for splitting PS4 output to two displays, look for an HDMI splitter that does one input to two outputs (most HDMI splitters do the opposite, multiple inputs to one output). I haven't tried it personally, but if you get the right type of HDMI splitter it should work.
Your right, getting an arcade stick can be expensive, it can cause more than the console, and for the hdmi splitter , it only allows you to do different input for 2 different consoles, like input 1 is your ps4, and then you can do input 2 as ur pc or xbox, i think ps4 it self doesnt allow it, i did alot of research back then and i couldnt find anything on that topic. And Thank you for dropping by ❤️🙏
Sir Charles oh i think i seen that one before, i think it doesnt work, is for 1 system to 2 monitor, but you can only display 1 at a time, the other way is ps4 and xbox going to 1 monitor, but u have to switch to either display the xbox or ps4. But thank you for taking the time to research tho, i did alot of research my self back then, but i believe the playstation 4 it self doesnt allow dual output, it seems like it was a feature on ps3, not sure why they took it away on the 4, maybe to stop ilegal recording or displaying things i heard ❤️🙏
I grew up using a controller at home and playing in the arcades. I recently got a Fightstick for XB1 that I use for PS4 with a Brooks converter and it's soooo much fun. I have to "relearn" some games but I also found that I was doing moves that I wasn't doing with the controller. After modding my fightstick I LOVE IT and use it exclusively when playing fighting games.
Deviltamer yea, the first and 2nd ones were classics, i didnt buy them, but each of my frd has them, and i use to play at their house a lot. They were amazing sticks 🙏❤️🕹 thank you for watching
4:04 "They're noght going to know you're playing games on your ps4 or xbox at night" Meanwhile, my ps4 sounds like a god damned jet engine when I'm just trying to play pac-man.
The problem I have with d-pads is that I can't execute a single hadouken when I'm on the right side. Even when I'm on the left I can do hadouken 1 out of 3 times. I honestly don't know how to play on d-pad. Btw judging by the video, the actual winner would be a mechanical keyboard as it combines a lot of upsides from both fightstick and pad.
@@JoystickNY Niceeee!!!!! I'm excited. Did you think about a handcam? It's just an idea. :D appreciate your work! And on which platform will you stream it?
Riccardo Iserloh i havent thought about a hand cam yet, currently still learning about making video, audio and lighting, and equipments. i want to get the basics of making video down first, if you know what i mean, platform wise i havent put any thoughts to it yet, maybe youtube live or just straight up record some matchs and upload them 🙏❤️ thank you for the support
When i switched to stick it helped me a lot because pad is to hard to do certain moves and my thumb would get torn to shreds from doing uppercuts and fireballs
Thank you for this video, it really helped a lot. I decided to get back again to fighting games this year after 20 years away from then and I got the SF 30th Anniv Collection on PS4 to play SFA3 online with Juni A ISM (my favorite character), USFIV to play with Decapre and SFV to use Cammy. Since Juni & Decapre are charge characters, my Thumb started to hurt a lot after too many sessions, so I decided to get a stick and I noticed great relief and no pain at all even tho I still cannot pull the "pretzel" charge supers with the stick. Thank you very much for your videos, they really help a lot.
"Pads do not have so much parts and customizability to them" Tournament Smash Players and Me: "this is the part where we rock our heads back and laugh"
@@JoystickNY no don’t its not worth it. Smash players have been using the same un-updated, un-ergonomic gamecube controller since the stone age. Nintendo just doesn’t love its own competitive scene. But final point being the highly customizable gamecube pad still can’t compare with a factory issued ps4 pad.
I heard that too, i saw a video that nintendo try to reduce the smash scene by adding stuff to make it less competitive, like adding trip on one of thr smash bros etc, thats so wrong
@@JoystickNY that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Nintendo has actively tried to shut down the melee scene which is one of the most loved games in the franchise and apart from this they have also denied the use of their own games in tournaments.
C Burks really? I must have read something wrong, there was a article on it that says ps4 block that access, thank you, i will double check with splitter 🙏
Big problem with pad, especially if you prefer to use older pads like the PlayStation 1 controller, is that once they start to go there's little you can do to fix them. Replacement membranes are hard to find, and even if you do all that's available are cheap Chinese knock-offs that feel completely wrong and are going to be even worse. Compare that to a stick, where you can easily get replacement buttons, sticks, and PCBs.
Thanks for the video I was super confused if there was any improvement of using a fighting stick over a controller. Also bringing up the noise factor of having a fighting stick.
My initial reason for buying an arcade stick was the retro vibe it gave off, as i was always a big fan of arcades but there were none in my area. I ended up buying one about 7 months ago, but didnt use it much, only when friends came over to play Tekken. But, since about 2 months ago, i ve been struggling with carpal tunnel on my right hand, and my arcade stick is actually one of the few things i can use my right hand on, that doesnt bring pain along. I couldnt use any other controller, draw, or use a mouse, but the stick was fine, since the buttons are so large and sensitive (hori hayabusa). Because of that, i ended up using it more and more, and now i've grown to love the feeling so much that i just refuse to play any fighting game on a pad (except from brawlhalla and super smash bros). I thought it was a bit too much money when i first looked at it (at least, for "just 1 controller") but now, i'm considering buying a second one! I'm so glad i actually bought a stick after all, and your content inspires me to play more! Keep up the good work and great content!
Thank you for the comment and sharing your story, becareful with your hand, because long hours of play does bring a little bit of pain, when i play long hours, my right hand wrist hurts a bit. But its more like exercise pain, not health issue pain, it usually goes away after 30 mins. I would recommend waiting for a sale or a ps5 stick before you buy a 2nd stick, 🙏❤️
Ive been using a hori fightpad thats a controller but with an octagonal joystick and better buttonlayout, and ive been loving it honestly. Aside from some things being harder to execute (like pushing 3 buttons at once for a teleport for example) ive been having a great experience with it!
I like both stick and pad for different reasons. I do find instant air dashes in Guilty Gear to be easier on pad. I used both a Playstation style dpad and a Sega Saturn one. Though it's not too hard to adapt it on stick. KOWAL fixes it on Sanwa and Seimitsu have quicker responses due to the construction of the microswitches out of the box.
When the Street Fighter 3 Classic came out on the PS4, I found most of my combos were hard to execute on the pad unlike when I used to play it on the stick in the arcade. My choice is the stick for fighting games.
Carlos Maldonado i love them, i use my black Rap 4 the most, and i use it in the majority of my video, but keep in mind, is not sanwa part tho. They are hori hayabusa.
I hated Zangief on a pad and bought a stick. 3 days later immediate huge improvements and now i do SPD of all sorts with tick throws: off neutral, crouch and instant air positions. Only STICK of course if you got money. and Preferably at least a 200$ stick. This is day and night diffirence.
The scenario on a controller where you charge back on pad and then forward on analogue to sonic boom is interesting. I've read a little bit of controversy around hitboxes needing hardware cleaners to ignore simultaneous opposing directional inputs or else they aren't allowed in tournaments. I understand it's EASIER to accomplish what you demonstrated with a hitbox instead, but why do the hitboxes seem to be throttled where controllers aren't?
James' Generic Game Channel Enjoy i think its because on a hitbox, your right hand can cover the attacks and directions; where as on the controller, i think its not very practical for your hand to be on analog and on the dpad at the same time, because 3 fingers are holding the controller already, so physically it extremely difficult to pull off on a controller, where as on a hitbox, you can lay 5 fingers on 5 fingers pretty easily
I used to think stick was easier. But pad is actually really good. Stick is more fun though. But I have muscle memory for both now so i can use both interchangeably.
Thank u so much. Lifelong pad user on consoles & I finally ordered the arcade sticks! That being said, I went with the Mayflash f5. I play tekk/mk daily.. my question is how often would I have to replace the buttons & joystick on the f500? Also, if the difference between norm controllers & fight sticks isn't that big then why do 92% of pro gamers use the arcade sticks every time? Thank you so much. Your video helps me have a feel and better understanding. I'm excited to try it for myself! Take care.
Once you get to a point where you feel like you are very comfortable with the stick, and you can do it most combos most of the time, you can think about replacing the parts with sanwa parts. I think the stick is much easier to use, it can do a lot of things easier, and there is less limitations, on a pad, you have to constantly remap the button when you switch games and characters, which means training your muscles memory all over again, and also changing your brain memory, because this button for this game is here, now i switch character and games, this button is a diff button, alittle things like that can be a hassle for pros who plays many different games, and games are more complicated these days, which require more button combinations
@@JoystickNY right on brother! I speak for all us clueless generic sticks when I say thank youuu for your time & wisdom. lately, I've been on fire locally & online tekken so I cant wait til my 1st joy pad gets here
Do you think I should buy an arcade stick? You see, when I play SFV, my thumbs get really cramped after just playing for like an hour. And I am a beginner, I don't even do anything advanced. But I have NEVER ACTUALLY played in an arcade before. But I actually feel like an arcade stick would suit me. What do you think? Oh, yeah, I know ps5 is right around the corner, but I don't plan to upgrade to it any time soon, and when I do, I could just replace the board. Anyway, awesome video, keep it up man!!
Sorry about the late reply; some how youtube never send me a notification on this comment, it just came up right now. Yes, i totally recommend a stick, its alot easier than using a pad and it makes fighting game more enjoyable, and good news is ps4 sticks will work with ps5. Make sure to get a official licensed stick tho 🙏❤️ thank you

After being a lifelong casual pad player I just discovered that I can't do cody's zonk knuckle combos properly with it ;( Might switch to stick now, not sure..
fjdcwc832 i recommend the stick, its very satisfying, is like playing the dance dance revolution on a piano with your fingers. Its very fun experience. 🙏👍❤️🕹
@@JoystickNY Picked up a used Street Fighter X Tekken Arcade Stick from Mad Catz. I chose this one mostly based on info I gathered from you channel. Thank you very much! BTW: Cody's zonk knuckle stuff already works great, all other characters and moves will take some serious muscle memory relearning..:)
My favorite is the size of the controllers. It's sooooo much more convenient fitting a pad into a small bag for portability as opposed to a big fight- stick.
Great video bro. This helped alot....I picked up a fightstick alpha for 30$ but I think I'm going to just master using the pad! Definitely got a sub. Peace
i have difficulty in every fighting game with dashing, the double forward or back motions don't feel natural to me. since i mainly play grapplers i get almost the same results with consistent inputs with either pad (i use the stick) or fight stick (used my friends before), i was wondering if any companies have an octo gate for pads (i have a problem with consistent crouch blocking as well) or if i should just get a stick because dashing seems much more natural using my whole hand... or just bite the bullet and get the hitbox for much faster games where air dashing is the main movement option?
AfternoonConcession i think a regular stick will help, personally i will probably not use a hitbox, mainly because its not common enough yet, i like to be able to travel or go to any arcade in the world and be able to use anyones stick they hand me, or in the arcade, the chances of a hit box availble is very slim, if you know what i mean. But i would recommend trying a stick ❤️🙏
Yes, i would recommend using the Dpad, it is alot more accurate and faster response. If you use the analog, then give a joystick a stick, because u r pretty much using a mini version of it. If you consider using a pad, Dpad is the way to go if you want to improve 🕹👍🙏
You forgot a very important point there in my opinion; Playing with Stick makes your fighting games more enjoyable to the point of looking like new games just because the gameplay change drastically.
It's the same with me too. I find it difficult to do combos perfectly all the time (I'm using the Logitech F310 gamepad BTW). It seems now that I won't be making any progress as a fighting game player without purchasing a fight stick.
I like the even-handed discussion! I prefer stick because it lets me keep my hands more relaxed, but it all comes down to what's more important to everyone personally. Some gamepads have really bad dpads though. I can't play with XBOX 360 controllers or the Switch Joycon.
Im using xbox one before playing tekken 7 now i just find the d-pad of it so trash that if you finish the combos with it you will be a legendary player
how come asian fighting games have combos that require to do circles with the stick i think two directionals is alot alreadty,i perfer ↓→🅰 instead of →↻↻🅰🅱
samuel badillo i see what you mean, i think circle inputs are easier for miss inputs. Its a lot more accurate and you can have more options with commands, i play a lot of kof and street fighter and marvel growing up; i always preferred circle motions, where as tekken and smash bros actually gives me a harder time when doing combos, because with directions, its more to memorize. U know how tekken command list is like 100 line of commands. What games do you play alot?
@@JoystickNYI play alot of competitive fps Rainbow six siege, PUBG,CSGO, most of the time. When it comes to fighting, MK9,,Injustice 2,smash64,smash 2019, MVC3, MK11, DBZ budokai 3, DBZ fighter, ....honestlty for me tekken looks too intmidatig to try, The insane combos, and the 3D spatial map mechanic.
samuel badillo samuel badillo ohhh, now i can kinda see why you prefer directionals. It take times getting used to the other side, i think its normal, because the pros we see in smash, they arent as good in like kof, streetfighter, tekken, and the pros thats play kof, sf, tekken, are not as good in smash. I m more comfortable with kof, sf, snk2 Type games
@@JoystickNYok i see what you mean, is there name for these type of fighting games, directional and circles or what they are called? asian fighting, and western fighting?
In my opinion, the stick is almost mandatory for SF games, due to the rotating motions of the D-Pad. However, the Hitbox offers more than a Pad or Keyboard for games like Mortal Kombat or anime fighters. Tekken being a 3D game requires quick access to side stepping, so I believe this is the only game where a Mixbox is king. Again, just my opinion, but it makes sense to me
sad totoroツ haha i started with keyboard backway on Emulator back in the days with neo-geo and mame, i actually got quite good with it too🙏❤️ thank you for dropping by
john dewberry III yea, i used to play a lot of king of fighters because it ran so smooth on emu, but holding down button on keyboard back then would cause issues because we had cheap keyboards, and if one holds a key, the rest of the key doesnt register anymore 🙏
john dewberry III it is actually not suppose to be legal, because some people does it on hit box, and those sticks are not approved and can not be used in tournaments, some people add more direction buttons on their hit box, so that way u are still charge after you release a charge. But they let the pad slide on that for now.
I started playing with a pc keyboard instead of traditional controller. my inputs are wayyy more accurate. im thinking of getting an all button arcade stick. it just feels so much better than a game pad imo
TheGothGaming keyboard are definitely more accurate than stick and dpad, i used to be a heavy keyboard player my self back in emulator days, but keyboard still has some limitations. Button arcade may be a even better choice, i havent not used on yet, but hope to try one someday 🙏❤️
Chronology i remember those times, back then me and my friend would play vs mode, and sometimes we will both hold too many keys and some movies doesnt come out , usually happens on budget keyboards
You can connect the PS4 controller to the computer via USB Cable or Bluetooth, so if you own a fighting game on the computer and have a spare PS4 controller, you just have to connect the PS4 controller to the computer, and set the displays to duplicate. In case you have the game on the PS4, you would need an HDMI Splitter to connect the PS4 to the splitter, and connect both HDMI ports to two separate monitors, duplicating the displays.
If you want to use your PS4 on 2 monitors you can just use an HDMI splitter. I had my PS4 on my TV and my PC monitor simultaniously, when I wanted to play the big screen, TV, and when I wanted the low input lag, PC monitor. If wanted the image on both I could, but I didn't really needed to. I checked some tests online before buying one and someone made the test and confirmed there was no added input lag. I didn't notice any input lag difference when my console was directly plugged on my monitor or when I was using the splitter.
McLovinFR really? I am going to look more into it, because i did some research back then, a lot of people said it wont work, a splitter would give you one or the other, but not both. Have you actually tried it your self and have both monitor sucessful on at the same time with one ps4?
I've found that I really like playing zoners on keyboard, rushdown on controller, but the stick lets me play pretty much whatever. I also tend to misinput off the stick so I ended up with a really bad habit of double inputting important special inputs just in case the first one didn't go through.
I think stick is better but only if you can sit in a up right poisons or have a small table in front of you. If you like laying back in a chair or couch PAD is superior Also stick is superior to leaning how to do inputs
you can output to two monitors with an HDMI splitter. someone on the shmups forum did lag tests for a bunch of them even. lots of good and low cost options there.

I agree 👍 thank you for sharing 🙏❤️
Same, i've modded my Datel Arcade Stick with Sanwa Buttons and Stick and it feels glorious.
Glad you love it 😊❤️
When I started sf5, I played on a pad and was losing constantly.
I struggle with playing on pad. I am seriously considering buying a stick. Do you recommend the Mayflash?
Fouad Haidar i recommend the qanba drone for pc and ps4. Only buy the mayflash if you plan on playing it on multiple consoles. ❤️🕹
JoyStickNY Thanks 🙏
I agree ☝️
This is easily one of the best videos on this topic I've ever seen. Nice showing of the advantages for certain characters/playstyles.

not only the best video of this topic but also the best channel arcade stick i have seen on yountube
My girlfriend asked me why an arcade stick is better than a pad and I just shook my head...."you wouldn't get it"
Lol 🤣🤣🤣
I just picked up the Hori Pro 4 Kai, my first fight stick! Its a bit of a change from a playstation pad, but after a few hours of use it feels great! No more torn up thumbs!
EDNOOOOO you’re gonna love it, its a whole new experience, you will enjoy fighting game a bit more now 🙏❤️👍 thank you for watching
Milo Openg thank you so much 🙏❤️🕹
This is gold, you should have more views than this.
Greymon War thank you for the love and support ❤️🙏
Maybe an adaptor out there, cux i seen some people using a ps1 controller sometimes
@@JoystickNY you have link video how to connect Arcade Stick with PS4 Pro please?
It will be plug and play, the ps4 will automatically connect ❤️

I like that 😊👍 knowing how to use different controllers are very helpful. Thank you for sharing 🙏❤️
Movement is better on stick. I played both, and found movement better on stick. Especially keeping your hand and fingers from cramping and hurting.
I feel you , same for me
There are certain commands that are very difficult to do on a D pad, such as the games "Guilty Gear, The King of Fighters and Samuray Shadow". With an optical arcade control it is easily executed.
I agree, i cant play mvc2 on a pad 🤣🕹❤️
What Controller do you guys use? Thank you for watching
I just got a Qanba Evo Drone and a Mayflash F300 Elite, so I'm trying to learn on those. I mainly play UNIST, Guilty Gear and Melty Blood.
seren dipitous those are great sticks to start, i noticed they raised the price on the qanba drone recently, it was 55-60, i checked yesterday as i was looking for qanba drone photos for my video, now is like 70$.
Anytime my friend, and thank you 🙏
I wanted a non-hori arcade stick but then ironically I bought a Hori Tekken edition and I love it.
My friend, the guide is out, title; HOW TO USE THE ARCADE STICK, check it out when you get a chance 🙏❤️
I love tekken 7, but it definitely feels like a game meant for a stick. Which makes sense considering it’s a port of an arcade game
Just bought a MayFlash F300 and I'm in love with it! I've been using controllers for 20 or so years on fighters, always sucked on the sticks growing up. But just decided to buy one just for the hell of it and play around, and I'm loving it! Still getting use to it with fighters but so far so good.
Very happy to hear that, it makes fighters games more fun, with more time, you will be smooth with it 👍🕹

there are hdmi splitters you can get. basically the PS4 will plug into a relay box that relays two hdmi outputs to be received by two monitors. i set it up that way a lot.
Imzak Mohamed i m gonna test it out, thank you.
@@JoystickNY You may have to disable the encryption on the PS4's HDMI output, similarly to capturing Ps4's output but this should work fine
Deakore thank you for the tip ❤️🙏
I might buy another benq monitor, it had the build in dual monitor , maybe later on
Personally I prefer a pad, the dpad on the xbox one controller works really well for tight/difficult inputs for me, and it's also nice and clicky but not too loud.
Thank you sharing
Also aside from being much easier on my wrists and the tendons in my hand and all that, one advantage to switching to stick is that I eliminated all of my bad muscle memory habits. I had to relearn from the beginning and I made sure I wasn't doing the same stupid stuff I had been doing for the last three decades.
Appreciate the info 🙏
Your videos are really helpful and convinced me to get a fight stick. Thank you.
Thank you 🙏❤️ fight stick makes fighting game easier 😊
@16:10 we’ll I’ll be damned I didn’t know you could that with guile! Glad I found this channel!

Thank you for sharing ❤️🙏
The problem with pad is they wear overtime stick is a better investment in my opinion.

@@sherpa6844 When a pad breaks down you'll know because directions/buttons stop working. A control pad like a PS4 pad can last you 50 years though. Only the analog stick rubber wears out but fighting games use the d-pad.

Kristopher Alonge that is good to know, thank you for sharing 🙏❤️ i ll definitely have to check that out 🕹
@13:05 For Birdie and Falke or Balrog(boxer), that's when you use the driving foot paddle to hold those moves.
Thats actually very cleaver 😉👍❤️🙏
A small correction friend. I understand the confusion because in sfiv rapid button commands (ie Honda hands, blanka electricity) were 5 buttons, however, in Sfv they changed requirements to only 4 buttons, so they're even easier to perform now on both pad and stick. But regardless of button requirements, I still agree with your call that mash specials are still far easier on stick.
kangstakangsta yea, ehonda hhs is much easier in sf5, they even make chun li lightning kick a qcf, which i dont like lol ❤️🙏 thank you for sharing
The only options I ever had were key keyboard or a pad. I was introduced to arcade sticks wayy later so I wasn't able to learn them. But for easy learning of the basics of movement you can never go wrong with wasd keys.
Keyboards are great too; i started with keyboard many years ago back in the emu days 🙏❤️

And Thank you for dropping by ❤️🙏
Thank you for the link, i will check that out ❤️🙏
Sir Charles oh i think i seen that one before, i think it doesnt work, is for 1 system to 2 monitor, but you can only display 1 at a time, the other way is ps4 and xbox going to 1 monitor, but u have to switch to either display the xbox or ps4.
Thx you told us all we needed in order to choose correctly 👍
Thank you 🙏❤️
I find it easier to use joypad but joystick feels more rewarding when everything works.
I totally agree, it gives a different type of feeling, abit more satisfying 🕹👍
I grew up using a controller at home and playing in the arcades. I recently got a Fightstick for XB1 that I use for PS4 with a Brooks converter and it's soooo much fun. I have to "relearn" some games but I also found that I was doing moves that I wasn't doing with the controller.
After modding my fightstick I LOVE IT and use it exclusively when playing fighting games.

Since Juni & Decapre are charge characters, my Thumb started to hurt a lot after too many sessions, so I decided to get a stick and I noticed great relief and no pain at all even tho I still cannot pull the "pretzel" charge supers with the stick.

"Pads do not have so much parts and customizability to them"
Tournament Smash Players and Me: "this is the part where we rock our heads back and laugh"
Interesting, i gotta look in to pads more 😊👍
@@JoystickNY no don’t its not worth it.
Thats kinda sad to hear, i dont smash that much, but i often watch my friends and coworker play smash ulti
Another great video! You can get one video output on two monitors with a HDMI splitter

AirLancer that is true, thank you for sharing ❤️🙏

Good video. I use pad with blanka, but have a stick for nostalgia, need more practice with it first
Yea, Its gonna take sometime 🙏 thank you for watching
Thanks for the video I was super confused if there was any improvement of using a fighting stick over a controller. Also bringing up the noise factor of having a fighting stick.
Both are amazing , and diff player preference, i personally enjoy the stick more
My initial reason for buying an arcade stick was the retro vibe it gave off, as i was always a big fan of arcades but there were none in my area.
Great info, thank you, you are right, certain things are easier on the pad like the Korean dashes in tekken 7. 🙏 thank you for dropping by
@@JoystickNY I honestly never understood how to do Korean backdashes.
Maybe i can do a video on that down the road 👍
@@JoystickNY That would be cool to see for sure.
When the Street Fighter 3 Classic came out on the PS4, I found most of my combos were hard to execute on the pad unlike when I used to play it on the stick in the arcade. My choice is the stick for fighting games.
Me too, i am not as good on the pad my self, it will take me more effort and energy to play on a pad ❤️🙏
I'm see this and same time repairing my homemade arcade stick, it's a sort of sad thing.

Okak Okakiev great info, thank you for sharing ❤️🙏 stick is for sure better for zangief 👍
Excellent; always learn more weapons

I'm not him and this is really late, but I think an arcade stick is well worth it if you're still struggling with hand cramps.
Sorry about the late reply; some how youtube never send me a notification on this comment, it just came up right now. fjdcwc832 i recommend the stick, its very satisfying, is like playing the dance dance revolution on a piano with your fingers. Its very fun experience. 🙏👍❤️🕹
@@JoystickNY Picked up a used Street Fighter X Tekken Arcade Stick from Mad Catz. I chose this one mostly based on info I gathered from you channel. Thank you very much!
BTW: Cody's zonk knuckle stuff already works great, all other characters and moves will take some serious muscle memory relearning..:)
fjdcwc832 thank you so much, glad to help 🕹🙏👍❤️
My favorite is the size of the controllers. It's sooooo much more convenient fitting a pad into a small bag for portability as opposed to a big fight- stick.
Thats true, a big pro for the controller
Great video ! Can you make another video with more tricks ?
AD yes, i have so much videos on those , i have a series coming soon all about tricks 🙏 thank you for watching
Great video bro. This helped alot....I picked up a fightstick alpha for 30$ but I think I'm going to just master using the pad! Definitely got a sub. Peace
Thank you so much ❤️🙏
i have difficulty in every fighting game with dashing, the double forward or back motions don't feel natural to me. since i mainly play grapplers i get almost the same results with consistent inputs with either pad (i use the stick) or fight stick (used my friends before), i was wondering if any companies have an octo gate for pads (i have a problem with consistent crouch blocking as well) or if i should just get a stick because dashing seems much more natural using my whole hand... or just bite the bullet and get the hitbox for much faster games where air dashing is the main movement option?
AfternoonConcession i think a regular stick will help, personally i will probably not use a hitbox, mainly because its not common enough yet, i like to be able to travel or go to any arcade in the world and be able to use anyones stick they hand me, or in the arcade, the chances of a hit box availble is very slim, if you know what i mean. But i would recommend trying a stick ❤️🙏
Nice review. thank sir.
Thank you 🙏❤️
Is it strange that I use the analog stick on the game pad rather than the dpad..
Yes, i would recommend using the Dpad, it is alot more accurate and faster response. If you use the analog, then give a joystick a stick, because u r pretty much using a mini version of it. If you consider using a pad, Dpad is the way to go if you want to improve 🕹👍🙏
Im with you. I used to use a pad before switching and i thought the dpad sucked be it on ps3/x360. The best dpad in history is on the DS no lie.
Dan the weeb thats is good to know 👍
@@JoystickNY well i was doing the same mistake i am going to train with dpad now lol i feel embarassed
Thorant Gaming change will always be hard, but change usually is good 👍
I'd say another +1 on Fightsticks because it's easier to Plink and Double Tap on them. Very useful techniques for me.
For sure, i agree, i think some people does it on the pad too tho, its bit harder, but is also possible. 🙏 thank you for watching
You forgot a very important point there in my opinion; Playing with Stick makes your fighting games more enjoyable to the point of looking like new games just because the gameplay change drastically.
For sure , i agree, very different experience 🙏❤️👍
that guile pad trick was dope.
Thank you for the support 🙏❤️
Im bout to go buy an arcade stick asap cause when i use my controller its like my combos dont come out everytime i try to do them
Give it try , always good to try a new tool, you never know your potential if you dont try it 🙏❤️
JoyStickNY i definitely will try it keep up the good vids man👍🏽👍🏽
It's the same with me too. I find it difficult to do combos perfectly all the time (I'm using the Logitech F310 gamepad BTW). It seems now that I won't be making any progress as a fighting game player without purchasing a fight stick.
Srikant Mahapatra totally recommend it, as you can see in major tournaments, everyone uses it 👍
i remember going to an arcade and seeing something called the playbox it was just an xbox 360 that needed tokens sad its gone :(
Ya they had alot of those back then as arcade cabinets were fading out at 1 point
The best is a mixbox
Mix box and keyboards are great too, i use to play alot of keyboard and it is very similar to mixbox, mix box can do things other controller cant do 👍
Great man...thanks a lot..need more videos like this..
More to come thank you 🙏❤️
When it comes to guile....
The pad is literally unplayable to his moves
Some players are really good with charging on the pad, i have no idea how they manage it, its really tough for me too 🤣
@@JoystickNYyeah i cant execute any combos...
And air hadouken too...
I like the even-handed discussion! I prefer stick because it lets me keep my hands more relaxed, but it all comes down to what's more important to everyone personally.
Some gamepads have really bad dpads though. I can't play with XBOX 360 controllers or the Switch Joycon.
Same here, i feel like they were design for racing and fps
Im using xbox one before playing tekken 7 now i just find the d-pad of it so trash that if you finish the combos with it you will be a legendary player
Hard Fight yea, i think dpad is kinda hard with tekken too ❤️🙏
Bruh
I am a god then

for having two screens displayed from one ps4(having them be the same) I believe you could just buy an HDMI splitter.
Thank you for the info 🙏❤️
how come asian fighting games have combos that require to do circles with the stick i think two directionals is alot alreadty,i perfer ↓→🅰 instead of →↻↻🅰🅱
samuel badillo i see what you mean, i think circle inputs are easier for miss inputs.
@@JoystickNYok i see what you mean, is there name for these type of fighting games, directional and circles or what they are called? asian fighting, and western fighting?
samuel badillo not that i know of 😂, i think they are all under the same category as 2d or 3d fighting games.
This dude is the wizard at the arcade.
Thank you for the love and support 🙏❤️
There is no "which is better?" dude, its "what you're better with" come on now
I agree 🙏❤️
SKillS EZ i try to answer as much as i can, sometimes my job takes a lot of my time 🙏❤️ thank you
It’s based on objective pros and cons
Kyruchii Arts thank you for dropping by 🙏❤️
In my opinion, the stick is almost mandatory for SF games, due to the rotating motions of the D-Pad.
However, the Hitbox offers more than a Pad or Keyboard for games like Mortal Kombat or anime fighters.
Tekken being a 3D game requires quick access to side stepping, so I believe this is the only game where a Mixbox is king.
Again, just my opinion, but it makes sense to me
Basically no 1 tool fits all 😊 which ever you can make it work , that is going to be your best tool 🙏❤️
I use keyboard lol
sad totoroツ haha i started with keyboard backway on Emulator back in the days with neo-geo and mame, i actually got quite good with it too🙏❤️ thank you for dropping by
When I started playing emulators I was using the keyboard found out I could always hold my charge as guile in sf2 lol
john dewberry III yea, i used to play a lot of king of fighters because it ran so smooth on emu, but holding down button on keyboard back then would cause issues because we had cheap keyboards, and if one holds a key, the rest of the key doesnt register anymore 🙏
Joystick NY you taught me something about pad too I never even thought to use the anolog stick in conjunction to hold charges pretty nifty
john dewberry III it is actually not suppose to be legal, because some people does it on hit box, and those sticks are not approved and can not be used in tournaments, some people add more direction buttons on their hit box, so that way u are still charge after you release a charge.
Keyboard is very tiring especially if it’s a mechanical one for NKRO. Sometimes, you might get a keyboard where you can’t crouch block and hit fierce.
Thank you for the in depth instruction 🙏❤️
If you want to use your PS4 on 2 monitors you can just use an HDMI splitter. I had my PS4 on my TV and my PC monitor simultaniously, when I wanted to play the big screen, TV, and when I wanted the low input lag, PC monitor. If wanted the image on both I could, but I didn't really needed to.
I checked some tests online before buying one and someone made the test and confirmed there was no added input lag. I didn't notice any input lag difference when my console was directly plugged on my monitor or when I was using the splitter.
This is the one I use :
www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B019ZHTK2M/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Interesting style,i usually use stick for all character types, but kof i like it on keyboard alot cuz kb is very precise and fast
5:12 I believe that if you use a splitter it could work. Though I'd have to try it out first but I think it's a valid solution
Thank you for that, yea, other viewers have also said it too, 🙏❤️
@@JoystickNY And now that I think about it.. at Red Bull Kumite 2019 Japan they used a PS4 Pro connected to two monitors 😁👌🏻
I wonder if they were using the special monitor from benq, that has 2 hdmi ports for dual play. I regret buying it lol, i never bought a 2nd one 😂
I think stick is better but only if you can sit in a up right poisons or have a small table in front of you. If you like laying back in a chair or couch PAD is superior
Also stick is superior to leaning how to do inputs
Well said 👍
Very informative video. Please talk about tekken in your videos aswell.
Agent 47 thank you for the suggestion, i should add more tekken, kof, marvel vs capcom contents 🙏❤️
you can output to two monitors with an HDMI splitter. someone on the shmups forum did lag tests for a bunch of them even. lots of good and low cost options there.
Thank you for the answer 🙏❤️
After ruining 4 Xbox One d pads in less than a year playing SF5, I’ve just purchased a Hori Real Arcade Pro One v.5. Takes a bit of getting used to but hopefully practice will pay off!
I think it will pay off, cant go wrong with stick, its just easier 🙏❤️
@@JoystickNY Yep, I play with Zangief and I'm finding it's the buttons that are most tricky to start with, esp with the Double Lariat. Slowly getting the hang of it thou and I'm sure it'll pay off before long!🕹🥊
Biggest issue with pad is that wear out really quickly! Only takes a couple months and dualshock 4’s are typically worn out by then :/
I heard that too, i prob dont use the pad enough to see it 😅
Good Video Dude
WELL FIGHTER thank you so much 🙏❤️
