    For anyone interested in leverless style arcade sticks I’ve been using one for a few years and there are a TON of benefits but I will say it is a big learning curve.
    What makes these sticks legal is something called SOCD cleaners (Simultaneous Opposing Cardinal Directions) which means when you hit two directions at the same time they cancel each other out. In the beginning there was a version where left and right at the same time would be read as right which gave charge characters the ability to do their super inputs for example while blocking virtually instantly. But now that isn’t the case. There are two modes that are currently used. One in which where down + up is read as up and the other where this same motion is read as neutral similar to the left and right situation being read as neutral now. If you play Street Fighter 6 in tournament then you’ll want the version that has left and right , as well as up and down equal neutral.
    Anyways without getting too into the nitty gritty this makes your inputs for things like quarter circle,360, half circle, motions easier and cleaner. It also grants you access to some incredible shortcuts that make some things easier and there is an inherent advantage to a stick layout in that regard.
    Interesting enough with controller remapping you can get some interesting shortcuts with a controller but that is usually not allowed in tournaments for some reason.
    I recommend giving these a try though as it really makes a difference. And if anyone’s curious just drop a question and I’ll answer 🤘🏾

    I play on PC, so I've been using a keyboard. Put an order in for one of these as it should be an easy switch, but theoretically with more accuracy. I've used a stick in the past and have less input errors on the buttons, but more with the stick. Should be good to go here in a couple of weeks.

    I remember when these were called "Hitboxes" and were really niche. Crazy to see how it exploded in 2018ish... seems like it was mainly due to daigo using leverless. I was actually at combo breaker where hitbox signed Daigo (they said they couldn't sell me the last one in stock because it was for him lol).
    I want to say it took me 2 weeks to be comfortable with it and about a month to play with it at the same level I can with other devices. I've been playing streetfighter 2 since it came out in arcades in the 90s, but most of my time was on pad because that's all I had. I learned fight sticks in 2017 and on, then built my own leverless the following year. I still feel like stick and pad are more intuitive in terms of directional movement. There are times wher I have to tell my brain to push buttons in a special order when my left hand would just automatically do it.
    I have a kitsune coming in today so can't wait to try it. I've built many sticks but the only ones I have left are a Qanba Obsidian 1 (converted to a leverless) and a qanba titanium. I wanted something slimmer and found it for a deal on ebay.

    I wanted a commercial leverless fighting controller for a long time.
    I never liked playing on a stick, when i play tekken or mortal kombat on my xbox controller i never touch a stick.
    Can't wait to get my hands on this one.

      Even if it was the only product they were ever going to make, without the promise of future free stuff, one's mindset is hugely impacted by not having had to pay for it.
      Having received it for free automatically makes a review biased in my opinion.

    It feels like this could still be very controversial in tournaments. Like you mentioned, the separated directional buttons could still create an advantage for certain inputs.

    • @kylehuntxr
      @kylehuntxr Рік тому +2

      In a way it still does. Leverless controllers are by design admittedly a better option as while some of what it allows for are possible to do on a traditional arcade stick it is not practical or it just can’t be done in some cases.
      Truthfully it isn’t cheating it’s just because these are buttons you have access to certain things that skip the neutral input a stick does require .
