Hands down the best Even 3 Michelin star Marco totally bodges this kind of thing with msg stocky cubes n aromat Could do it Ramsay or some other style that costs a leg n an arm But even then if u want to actually taste sausage n mash n gravy... Well u can't compare. Greggo gets it 100% I've worked in professional UK fine dining kitchens. My palettes on point. And I laugh cuz Greggo bringing out natural flavors better than actual restaurants
Greg when you buy onions put them in the crisper only get them out when you use them no more tears when you cut them up I have been doing this for a while and it works for me cheers Diane from Bundaberg
In this time of doom and gloom around the world man you make it such a better place. Excellent ,your cooking is outstanding ,your personality is quality. Good luck ,good health and thank you very much . Pleasure to watch can't wait for more.
Oh, that looks delicious!!! I'm watching this on April 5, 2020....a shade late, but it still looks like I need to bake a sausage, onion and mashed potato "pie"!!!! Thanks Greg!!!
Thanks Greg - this is brilliant! I've made it twice now, and I love it - it's genuine comfort food on a cold and miserable English winter's day. 🙂 I add a bulb of crushed or chopped garlic - it gives a "kick" to the flavour, and of course keeps the vampires at bay! A bulb, a clove, or nothing - YMMV. FYI ... a simple solution to the "onion problem" is to use a fan to blow the fumes away (or open a nearby window); but I think 50 years of wearing contact lenses has probably densitised my eyes! 🙂
Looks great! I think I will just cut the boiled potatoes up a bit and put them on the bottom with a skoshi more cheese (and a spoon of butter), then the sausage, gravy and some of those packaged fried onions for a topping (they have the jalapeno ones too)... thanks, Greg for all your great ideas!
this is Gregory's room or area where food is prepared and cooked, where any nutritious substance that people or animals eat or drink is so tasty that it causes you to pass your tongue over your fingers in order to taste, moisten, or clean them!
Australian slang, a contraction of "Good on you" signifying heartfelt praise and approval. -- I had to look that one up. thanks! The mix of cooking and food reviews is wonderful to your portfolio!
Like ME and YOUTube lol! Very funny... I love watching you! Red wine after 7 years might be vinegar lol very entertaining sir ! You should be on the food network ;) don't cry 😂
i just made this grego for tonights dinner, im a lawnie so i sometimes have the afternoon off work :) love cooking your recipes (so easy) , reminds me of my mums cooking when i was a little sausage.
It is like U.S. shepherd's pie (with no veggies). I make your version. Meat, onions, potato and gravy!! Yummo!! Also made with ground beef or beef chunks!! All good! And the wine is the secret ingredient for rich, full-bodied taste!
You should have mixed the cheese into the mash along with an egg yolk. putting cheese on top of the mash melts the cheese but prevents the mash from browning. with the yolk in the mash would give a nice colour and the cheese a nice flavour.
Just a suggestion if you want it to turn out like a pie when you finish putting everything in the casserole refrigerate it for a couple of hours then cook it, once it's cooked add the cheese on top and then put it back in the oven on broil just to make the cheese melt and turn golden brown like on a pizza. That's how I'm going to try your recipe thanks.
Had it for dinner tonight. Me and the missus made it together. That is, she did the cooking and I was in charge of playing the video and washing up. :-) I give it an 8 out of 10. I should have used more onions and more cheese, then it would have been a 10/10.
Looks yummy! But you've got to tell us about your fork and why the handle is shaped like that. Here in America our forks have straight handles. I'm just curious after seeing you use it to eat a bite of that delicious looking casserole. Thanks!
Looks good! Nice hangover food! I´d probably would have skipped the wine in favour for some nice stout though and probably would have added some mushrooms. It looked great nevertheless, and I´m a total sucker for gratinated mash! Tip: If you want even better colour on your gratinated mash, you can add a couple of eggyolks into the mix. Makes a big difference!:)
Grego....you are just tooooo funny. Love this video and will try out your recipe....eh? Since I am not into store type gravy, I will be using a can of Cream of Mushroom soup and yes, I will fry some mushrooms too!......yummm!
Hey greg. I bought some plan sausages i dont like. So im gonna cook your snag and mash pie!!! I know these sausages i dont like will taste grate in this meal. No wine but maybe Chinese cooking wine could work or beer. Haha. Cheers Greg For the ideas!!!! From Craig at chermside.
Hi Greg, I made this last night and forgot to put the red wine in it, I think it was a lot poorer because of that. Does it require any particular type of red wine?, what did you use? I wouldn't know one wine from the other.............
I think as a lover of sausage mash and gravy, I'll have to give it a go
Best cooking show on youtube
yayyyyyy

I like how he makes things that are adjustable to what people have on hand and can tinker with- all done as cheaply as possible.

That dish looks delicious! I would add red and/or green bell pepper for added color and crunch. :)
my fav comfort food. anything in a casserole dish that has mash potato ontop.
That looks so good greg your hilarious! I wish i had a man to cook for me.
This looks absolutaly great Greg !
You can do a variation with pre-made meatballs, add some sour cream to the gravy, and work in some button mushrooms.
I was just troweling cement yesterday and then I see you doing such a good job spreading those mashed potatoes! Boy that looks good.
