As a kid bangers and mash was a breakfast made up of what ever vegetables were left over from the previous evening meal and snarlers. Sometimes it would be mashed up left overs of boiled tattis, brussel sprouts, pumpkin and anything else. After mashing, the mash would be fried up to crispness in an electric fry pan then put together with the snarlers and gravy. 😊😊❤❤
left over mash potatoes, boiled Cabbage or any left over vegetables all mashed together and fried is Bubble and Squeak. To posh it up mum would add left over meat/bacon. Yum ❤

Made this for tea tonight. Absolutely delicious, a great family meal. I used Cumberland sausages sliced into four with lashings of Worcestershire sauce, tinned corn, fresh carrots, and frozen Petit Pois peas. I always use Blonde Bella jacket potatoes from Lidl for mash, so tasty. Great recipe Rick 🙂

You can make a small one without the onions, so they can eat it the same dish, it doesn't take that much longer, I have done this myself for certain recipes.
Just made this today, TBH I was wary about boiling the sausage with the oil in, but it didn’t take long for the water to evaporate, and the sausages turned out plumped up and really soft ( like a sausage casserole). Rik is a master chef👌😊
You've out done yourself Rik!!! When I was a kid my mam would make onion gravy and I'd be there at the side of her and she'd always ask if I wanted a dip butty... she'd get a nice big thick piece of bread and dip it in the onion gravy and I'd devour it!! This reminded me of her so much, thank you!

Been doing something similar for years but add a family size tin of baked beans instead of the frozen veg. Chuck some lardons or bacon bits in as well, can't go wrong. Either way it works and is a winner !
