  • Join me for this beautiful 10 minute gentle Hatha yoga flow! This morning Hatha yoga sequence focuses on opening the hips and releasing those tight lower back muscles for a powerful start to the day.

    We'll begin with some half moons to begin to release the upper body. Make sure to hold an awareness of the hips and back, just noticing how they feel today without judgement.
    Then we'll move into some traditional cat/cows before we modify this pose to add an extra juicy stretch for the hips. Hatha yoga is known for holding the asana - the yoga poses - for longer periods of time. While the Vinyasa style of yoga moves quicker, one breath per movement, in Hatha, we usually spend 3 - 5 breaths in each posture. This makes it perfect for beginners who may be new to the poses, but adds some challenge for more seasoned yogis in going deeper with each breath you take in that pose! In traditional Hatha yoga, the poses are held anywhere from 4 minutes to 4 hours, depending on the tradition you’re practicing with. So if you're noticing in your body that a particular pose feels really good, or that you need to stay in it longer, feel free to pause the video and honor that!
