That poster you couldnt read is encouraging young girls to volunteer at there local hospital or nursing home. These types of volunteers where called "Candy Stripers" because they often wore white uniforms with bright read stripes making them look like a peppermint or candy cane.

I had to shut my own radio off for real this time, and then I thought back to the terminal and realised it was Thomas Jefferson.

Someone else has probably already said this, but "Sydney" seems to be a pretty clear reference to the character of Sydney Fox who starred in a TV show named "Relic Hunter" which is exactly what the Sydney ingame calls herself.

It’s unknown where the people who lived in Megaton went? Maybe joined the brotherhood, Talan company or went to Rivert city.
A large force of the brotherhood were logistically able to leave the CW and travel to the commonwealth, they would have never been able to do this when we met them in Fo3.
Though a shithole, the entire area is likely better than we left it at the end of 3

I like how the mod you have for your first person camera makes it look like your character is having a constant existential crisis.
bethesda really knows how to pull on your heartstrings, in skyrim there is a quest where you have to figure out what happened to a mans wife (she disappeared without any trace and he drowns his sorrows in the tavern) but at the end you discover that the couple had been struggling with money so she decided to go treasure hunting in a ruin (or cave can't remember) and died there and you can find a note on her body explaining everything and when you bring it to him he is seriously upset because this whole time he had thought she just up and left him. There is a quest in fallout 4 that also has a twist ending that ends up really sad and someone felling badly for their actions towards someone.
i got to wonder if the john hancock protectron was destroyed by the gwinnet one since he seemed to have a dislike for him. also i feel like they could have made a companion out of sydney but i love the little detail that you can find an item for sydney to give her more story

I played the quest just 3 days ago. Kept Sidney alive (for the first time without reloads) and gave her the holotape. I'm proud to gave a new member to the community of Underworld. But i totaly missed the other things in the museum. At least i have to revisit it. As a non american person i was kind of buzzed about the right facts and the wrong facts in this quest and had to look them up. Kind of fun but not realy necessary but i maybe good to know, at least without american history Germany wouldn't be the same today.
So excuse me sir, i have to take a trip to the museum of missed opportunities.

I went the long way around by accident and Sydney died fighting there. I got annhiliated by the protectrons just trying to get the bill of rights, so that's where I stopped.

Actually fun tidbit, those particular flavors of mentats weren't addictive in Fallout 3, only vanilla mentats were. So makes a bit more sense here at least XD

At one point when I visited the National Archives in Washington DC, the Magna Carta happened to be on loan from the British Museum. It's not unheard of for it to be in the National Archives...just one hell of a kwinkidink.

Frag mines are your friend inside the archives. Just plonk 'em around the entrance to the room where you meet Sydney and it'll make the fight with the Super Mutants a lot easier. Just make sure you pick the unexploded ones back up again as they're not exactly NPC friendly.

One interesting thing some people might not know is that the lunar lander they show in one of the posters in the museum is actually the LK lander designed by the Soviet Union to land on the moon during the real world space race. It never actually launched, but it's interesting they chose that one for inspiration. I guess it's due to the divergence that it ended up being a US thing.
FYI: a “candy striper” (read: stripe-er NOT stripper) were young girls and volunteers that worked at hospitals, especially military hospitals, but also retiree hospitals and other medical facilities. They wore a distinctive white dress with red stripes, which is where the name is derived from, since the dress looked like candy canes and other candies. They were part nurse and part support, talking with patients and helping them with recovery. Having pretty young girls around would raise the spirits of the people recovering, and the girls themselves would sometimes meet a future husband. It was looked upon very favorably by society and considered an act of civic duty. It also allowed nurses to focus on more medically demanding tasks.
Interestingly the tradition lives on, but to my knowledge the candy striper uniform is not in use. My oldest daughter does the same thing at a VA hospital. She volunteers and talks to patients, plays board games with them, or walks with them around the hospital. She’ll help her mother bake cookies and cakes to take to the patients.

In addition to selling Abraham Washington the Declaration of Independence, Magna Carta, and Bill of Rights, there are items from the Museum of History you can sell him. These are all found in the feral ghoul area through the double doors on the right, after passing through the foyer. I know of a Lincoln toy figure, a collection of Lincoln pennies, a recording of Lincoln's voice, Lincoln's repeater rifle, and a wanted poster of John Wilkes Booth. There may be other items I am not aware of. NOTE: As these are not part of the main quest, they all have weight.
Ah! I just learned there is, also, Lincoln's hat, Lincoln's diary, a Civil War draft poster, and, after you start the Head of State quest, a Lincoln Memorial poster.
Ox, the toilet with the wires is a way to collect a couple microfusion cells. Check the tank.

The candy striper poster refers to the "candy striped" dress. I guess they were volunteer nurses or nursing assistants. It's suggesting to volunteer at the local hospitals through one of the positions listed. One of them is a "candy striper" A volunteer, typically female, who helps out at a hospital

The Magna Carta was actually in the US for a time during WWII. It was originally supposed to be here for the 1939 New York World Fair, but it's stay was extended due to the war. It eventually made it back to Lincoln's Cathedral at around 1946, though.
Ox the Brotherhood worked with Rivet City in fallout 3 why would they murder the whole town just because you hate the brotherhood doesn't mean they killed everyone in Rivet City.

I didn't exactly trust Abraham Washington with the Declaration based on how wrong his historical knowledge was, and how little security there is in his museum in comparison to the ruins, so I went the forgery route
My concern with Abraham's comments regarding the Emancipation Proclamation - The 13th amendment doesn't outlaw slavery entirely, but in fact permits it after a legal conviction.

This guy is actually Nicholas Cage. Nick was frozen in Vault 111. He woke up early and traveled to the Capital Wasteland. He then sought out the Declaration of Independence because it reminded him of pre war America. Its obvious.

Wish you could take all the historical robots to Abraham Washington...it would give him a much more accurate history (and help protect rivet city) but since Rivet City was pretty much destroyed after Mason's brotherhood took their generator, guess it would have been lost anyway...

So I just went AAAALL around her, cleared the level, went even further and met Gwinnett.
