The King is one of my favorite NPCs. He's a good man who's tough but fair. And He's damn cool.
He's tough, fair, and does a brilliant impersonation of one of the best musical artists ever. And has a robot dog.

I've always chosen the peaceful solution. The King is a good guy, and the Kings are real stand up guys, best of all the famlies (and I do consider them one of the families).

The Kings should've been an option to control the Strip, or parts of the Mojave. They really should've been given a bigger role in this game. Maybe as heads of a Casino, instead of just "the three families", especially because The King himself has so much respect for Mr. House.

I want a mod that gives The Kings their own casino on the Strip or can be a part of the Tops after Benny is gone.
That'd be great, and a fun way to re-populate the Tops after the courier paints it red trying to get to Benny. Maybe the Kings would need to be convinced to stop protecting Freeside and work for house? And in their absence, freeside has more random thugs assaulting you. Idk, food for thought.

That would be great. I think if you do an independent Vegas route, they could have people in the tops, with their new spread, they help shape up freeside. The kids that would have tried to eat rat are now fed decently. That way, seeing Kings spread supplies around would be a genuinely nice reuse of animation as they can do it to the player and to show that unlike all of the Mojave, they care.
The other exception being, the Followers.
The kings replacing Benny's gang would have been way better and made more sense tbh
with the water pump, you dont just get the 1 sip. if you hold down the button you can drink to full health. only once you stop you cant go back "Make that first drink count"

I think the Kings were the closest that NV came to the theme park lunacy that was Fallout 3; An outlandish idea that's more of a post-apocalyptic gag than an interesting, self-consistent and justifiable situation. The difference, however, is that the Kings (and especially The King himself) were so well-written, and integrated so carefully into the rest of the setting and storyline, that they actually end up feeling more natural and grounded than some of the most central factions of Fallout 3 (like the Enclave... or the BoS).

Because Obsidian was composed of the former Black Isle employees that developed the first couple Fallout games. Bethesda just does their own thing with it, like a kid with ADHD.

I really liked the King, he was one of my favourite characters. I killed them all just to see what happened and loot the building the first time I played, but I then reloaded and worked with him. I've strived to get the best outcome with him in every playthrough since.
I always use one of the various methods to kill Pacer though. After the King tells me about how good his intentions are I feel like I'm doing him a service by getting rid of or exposing his most corrupt groupy!
Fun Fact: Obsidian couldn't afford the usage of "Elvis" or his music. Hence "The Kings"

Lol, the king's are a fine example of the fact fallout has always had a good sense of humor in the midst of all the grimdark. Goofy missions and sects have always been apart of the fallout universe.
they wanted to have a full reference to Elvis himself, but unfortunately Elvis' estate asked for too much, so Obsidian opted to do The Kings instead.
I remember a joke Andy, from OutsideXbox, made about the Kings losing their shit if you told them you preferred Jerry Lee Lewis. Afterwards, he played a video clip of his character being brutally murdered by a swarm of pissed off Elvis impersonators.

i always liked the Kings. they were the only faction trying to keep the peace in Freeside. i was devastated at the end of my very 1st play through to find that House wipes them out and never sided with House again in any other play throughs.

When I frist met the Kings I thought they're just the local maffia, but theyre way better and more likeable then that. I always help them and usually got for the pacefull route.

Working for the King was such a nice change of pace. Dude is actually trying to do some good in his area but dosen't mess around. If someone needs to be taken care of he'll do it. But he's also a very interesting and layered character. But also the fact that the entire gang is based on Elvis makes them so memorable.
Time for a conspiracy theory: If Oxhorn does the Kings now, that means that he'll do Rex soon, right?
That would finish all of Dr. Henry's quests, which would mean that he'll soon be able to start Arcade Gannon's character profile and the Remnant quest line

The three people who the king sends you to check on are named Roy, Wayne, and Farris. If you put the names together, it's Roy Wayne Farris, the Honky-tonk Man from WWF, whose wrestling character was based on Elvis.

When i first arrived in freeside, i already knew about the water pump and figure the guard would stop me if i tried to drink. Instead he opens fire. I had a mod installed that raises blunt weapons KO value, so i knocked him out and stole his posessions. Later, when my freeside fame went up, this very same guy comes to me, at first still in his skivvies, and gives me stuff because I'm helpful to the people. I've gotten many stimpaks this way, and those ain't cheap. The kings rule, best faction.
Gi blues is my second favorite quest from the base game right after beyond the beef. Cant wait for the white glove society video. Much love ox.

I cant make out the whole chalkboard message but I think there's a word between To and "an" and i think that word is sing. Pay should be play as there is a space between the p and the ay. "an" is likely and. itar i think is guitar or unitary and this is a longshot but the iing could be wooing, the two slashes look like a partially erased W. I think male and $$$ are together but i think male is actually make as theres just enough space between to fit the other half of a k and the bottom of the L is short and could just be a scratch on the chalkboard as there is already a scratch just below that appears to be linear. So to me it says "To sing and play, be guitar/unitary to wooing women. Make $$$" What do you guys think?

@@olliegoria Well stereotypes I guess. But curiously enough in this particular instance it feels kinda true. In real life the guy I always go to for a haircut also happens to be Sergio and also sounds slightly effeminate, although not as much as the guy in the video, haha. This real life instance, among others, makes me think sometimes, that there seems to be some relationship between name, personality and occupation. Not really, but I wonder.

I think the pass into the Strip is by FAR the worst option.
1,000 caps puts you well on your way to the 2,000 caps you need to get into the Strip, without ever having to spent a single cap.
Obviously the BEST option is joining the Kings though.

Ah jeez, I feel like every time I go to the king that I'm just gonna break down cryin' and why you may ask, well it's because my first an only dog was a golden retriever named Rex who passed away in August of 2020.
He was the sole reason I managed to get through all my years of highschool and the first 8 months of the Covid 19 pandemic.

I think the chalkboard is full of words they would have you pronounce when you try impersonating, to see if you got the words right. They sometimes made us do stuff like this in drama class to help with words or lines we were having trouble getting right, using similar words.

It's not a French play at all. It's an Italian opera written by an Italian composer, Rossini, with an Italian libretto (or merely just the words without music) by Cesare Sterbini. Now, it was inspired by a French play, but the opera, which is being referenced, is purely Italian.

Oxhorn is just so amazing to listen to while sleeping. He's not boring or anything like that, i've used him plenty of times like for walkthroughs, lore, side mission/mission help and many other things. His voice just helps me sleep, unsure why.
