Vanilla WoW feels so intimate, yet so mysterious. A feeling secrets might be hiding around every corner. So many plans in a game design that was constantly at odds with itself. It was both the last gasp of the old Everquest style MMOs with a dangerous anti solo world, loose rules, giant maps and oversized raids with open world shenanigans, with the new polished WoW future of solo focus levelling, hyperbalance around fair competition and casualisation of smaller raids and everything of importance being instanced. Anything felt possible in Vanilla design because nobody knew the formula or where the devs were going to take the game.
I checked with the 0.7 client and it's not THAT much different. The inside has some shadowing applied which makes it a little easier to view but it's still just a blocked out mess on the inside.
The bengal tiger mount…lord that takes me back. I remember going on my vanilla hunter looking. I think I remember the rumor I followed was about a random path to a way off troll village that served no purpose, in maybe Stonetalon? Can’t remember anymore, but my 16yr old self followed that and that’s good memories

Well, really, watching ANY kind of WoW content has that feeling; since it's a game I played for countless hours over many years and expansions and eventually stopped (I don't have any data left, but I'm positive it must still remain as the game with the most hours I put into). And then videos about Vanilla WoW in particular... AND by MadSeason in particular. It's like putting layers upon layers of nostalgia, and it just keeps stacking up. In a good way!
For a long time Blizz said that they couldn't release a Vanilla version because they no longer had the files. Then it turns out that someone had a backup of a backup and "lo and behold" we got Vanilla. (That's pretty close to accurate, yes?) So HTF is it that you have access to pre-alpha content, including what were surely dev-only console commands?
The same reason people have been playing on 1.12 clients via private servers but that wasn't enough. Client data, including content, is the easy thing to find. Server data is the hard part cause players didn't have access to it like they did with the client.
I follow all your videos and I find them amazing, especially these ones where you talk a lot about the things never done by Wow Vanilla. I love these places never discovered by anyone! Great video!
Hey man could you do a video covering late game professions guides in Era. I’m new to WoW and got my tailoring maxed only to find not many good videos on Fel cloth or moon cloth. I’ve figured it out now but all the videos are a bit trash. I’m sure other professions have some complexities as well. Just a thought. Great content man.
i believe mining being the only gathering profession w/o an over max level node, at launch, is because it's mainly used in *two* primary professions. the other gathering professions either have only one primary profession time to it, or it's only an accenting profession for any others. ergo, there would be more demand for it's ores and skill-gating em would make it harder to get for yourself. basically, more people will need it for their recipes since two professions want it, though making it Alch-only didn't help with this. what might solve this is if they were able to make their own on a time limit, and Alchs could make more of it or without a time limit.
Wow classic secrets are like no other, to bad once you learn about them you can’t ever again 😢 also the sound effects are peak. I remember being 7 and hearing them. Then when I started playing in tbc all the noises felt like I heard them the day before.
Mad Season can you talk about Microsoft being the new owners of Blizzard Activision and the chances that a new development team can improve classic world of Warcraft + Seasonal discovery? Suggestion and request for you to touch on that topic in all good faith they will take away the wow token and make the right improvements to our favorite game✝️
Isn't a Bengal tiger a real tiger named after a region in Asia? If so, it would kinda break the 4th wall a bit too much to have it be named that in the game, while also not making any sense. It would be kinda like having a mob/mount in the game called "American Bison". I'm sure they've done something like this though, especially by now with over a thousand mounts and pets in the game.
Didn’t they make the Bengal Tiger an actual mount back in BFA? It was for someone that was from the Make A Wish foundation or something if I recall. The player wanted something like that for his account and blizzard did it. Maybe I’m wrong?

Oh boy, so happy about this. One advice, get a 0.7 Client. There Karazhan has the texturen before it was changed im 0.8
