There are so many cabbage roll recipes everywhere, but I keep coming back to this one! You don't have to use the oven, and Oma makes it simple! Plus, I love sauerkraut and no one else seems to care about it!:)
Elizabeth Elliott - do you have any idea what's in the glass jar on the table next to the V8 juice? Do you have the recipe written down? It was hard to write everything down and how much of the ingredients. Thank you so much for any help.
@@denisekeary8229 I realise you left this comment some time ago, but she uses "Maggi", which you can get in the store. I use Worcestershire sauce instead, and it works wonderfully! I am hungarian and rolled cabbage rolls sense 5yrs old with my grandmother and those were precious yrs anything in hungarian food is absolutely without a doubt delicious.
My adorable Greek grandmother used to make dill and lemon sauce cabbage rolls. Now I can make Hungarian cabbage rolls thanks to another adorable grandmother. Thank you for the recipe, Oma!
I found Oma in 2020 during the pandemic. So wonderful and comforting. I love her recipes. Such a delightful and kind woman. Thank you for sharing and teaching, Oma!
Oma, you're just adorable! The roux you made 20 minutes before the end really made the cabbage rolls shine. Great idea. I love Hungarian food ... just full of paprika everywhere :-) I don't have grandparents anymore so I'm adopting you as my Grandma. Hugs and Kisses to you. From your new grandson, Thanks so much.
First time I have watched her video. I just love her. Actually this is my first comment on youtube as well. I learn new cooking skills from her. Thanks a lot. :)
I came across Oma's Cabbage roll video and instantly fell in love! She reminded me of my Oma who passed 40 years ago when I was a 12. So many of the recipe's were not written down. I made Oma's cabbage rolls and the sauce she adds near the end really made it pop. Can't wait to pass this down to my Enklekinder
I just came back to get this recipe again. I love it so much! We served these at our wedding 5 years ago, along with your plum dumplings, and they were a huge hit! Thank you Oma for all the tasty food you've shared over the years. I helps me feel connected to my own German grandma, who died 25 years ago. Lots of kisses!

I succeeded with the chicken paprikash about a year ago. Recently I gave it another try. Made a couple batches the second turned out much better. Then I noticed this video. Made it the plan of the day to make your cabbage rolls. They were fantastic yesterday and today after taking them out of the fridge they tasted even better. My favorite Hungarian Recipe. My Father called these Hungarian Rice Rolls! They are Delicious!!!! Very Proud to be Hungarian, Irish and French. Bless you for sharing!!! ❤️
Oma, thank you! I miss my Hungarian mom, grandmother and aunts, and their wonderful cooking so much! You remind me very much of my Aunt Rose. I never learned how to make the Hungarian recipes and really appreciate your kind sharing. Brings back fond memories and i'll be trying your recipe.😊
There are as many chefs out there as anyone can imagine, and some are pretty good . . . But if you want really good food without all the fancy terms, go talk to Grandma . . . Yours or someone else's . . . They know how the real food is made! Sending love Oma, and thank you for sharing your art!
I've been wanting to try cabbage rolls for a long time, and I made Oma's recipe tonight. The instructions are so clear and easy to follow. The rolls smelled so delicious while they were cooking, I could hardly wait to try them. Oh, my goodness, they were worth the wait! My husband and son loved them too, and asked me to make them again very soon. Thank you so much, Oma, for sharing your recipes with us. If you get that Food Network show, I'll certainly watch! :) Now I need to try some of your other recipes... Aloha from Hawaii... and Mahalo (thank you).
Three of my four grandparents were straight from Hungary. I just found this and I can't wait to watch them all! What a blessing. She actually looks like my grandma!!! God bless Mrs.O
love Oma, reminds me of my Grandma and Mother's cooking. We are all so lucky to have wonderful women in our lives to give us such good examples on how cooking is love. Love, Judy or Udy as Grandma Magdalena called me.
I grew up with these and never had the right recipe until now. There is so many cabbage roll recipes. But none like what grandma made. Thanks Oma. I will be passing this on to my sons.
You're the best. Very inspiring to find a mother like you who has the passion for cooking and teaching us. My utmost appreciation. God bless mother oma.
So similar to our families recipe we are Croatian and we thicken ours also with that extra layer of flavor. We also don’t cook our meat or rice just like your recipe! We like to put some home smoked meat between layers for the added flavor. You are so sweet and beautiful you could pass for my late Baba Helen’s sister! Thank you so much and may our Lord Jesus bless you and your family and all of people who view this channel! 🙏🇺🇸/🇭🇷🙏
Your Mom is a sweet heart. So glad I found these videos. Making this tonight for my Mom. Next on the list? Stuffed peppers! :) Thank you Oma and son! :)
Hello Oma! My gramma taught me to make cabbage rolls exactly the same way! I will be watching your videos for more Hungarian recipes in the future! Thank you, love you!
I learned to cook by sitting, in the kitchen, and watching my mother. She was a beautiful little lady, like you, and everyone loved her cooking, too. Thanks so much to you and your family for posting these wonderful videos!
Cabbage Rolls - Toltott kaposzta (hungarian translation)! We really love cabbage rolls and I'm glad to see that this version is from the eastern part of Hungary where I live. We like to top it off with sour cream which makes it more delicious!
Oma, I'm making these all the time now! I have even started cooking them in my electric pressure cooker (an Instant Pot) and it only takes 18 minutes under high pressure. My daughter stays away from gluten so I've been thickening the sauce w/potato starch and it comes out nice and glossy and thick. The last time I made them I added just a touch of brown sugar to the sauce and thought that was a good addition. I hope you are well and cooking up a storm. Love, Jenn.
I have been cooking these since I've seen this video a couple years ago. Everyone asks me the recipe, and I always send them here! They are really delicious! You've added a staple to our dinner table. Thank you Oma for posting!
Wow I hope to see more of your videos, you are a wonderful cook and your son is so lucky to taste your foods that you have been cooking, , I will look for your videos and take care
