I made your cucumber salad & it is delicious. Better the next day!! Next thing to make is the Sirloin Steak. My mouth waters when I watch your video. Haha
Thank you for all the amazing comments! I read them all to Oma and she is thrilled to know that so many of you are enjoying her recipes and her videos!
in America most women wore house dresses at home. My mom did ..my Aunties also, I grew up in the 1950s. You look elegant in the kitchen. Hair beautifully coiffed. Lovely pink dress..your kitchen so tidy…
Mrs Oma! You are fantastic! I love your housedreses- my family is Greek and the women also would wear such dresses indoors! You are the true definition of a lady- soft spoken, organized, clean and tidy, and always well kempt (hair always dressed even at home)...I imagine my grandmother was exactly like you from the stories I heard of her - I never met her as she had passed away before I was born. Please keep making your videos, you are an inspiration and role model. In Greece we say 'health to your hands' ! God bless :)
How wonderful to see a woman that is probably old enough to be my grandmother share her expertise and take the initiative to peak the interest of an audience. I guess you never cease to be able to contribute value to the world so long as you are in good health. It looks absolutely phenomenal. Thank You Madame.
Oma! (I had an Oma too, miss her) i love when you say about the sour cream " the good one...not the low fat one" 😂 i agree! Thank you, i will try this recipe xox
oh my back again lol making this again tonight i have some farm chickens that have to be made this way (the best way) the boys have been asking for it!
sharingyourstory it turned out better than expected. We used cubed up boneless/skinless chicken breasts and served on a bed of egg noodles with a side of fresh baked itialian bread. This will most definitely be a weekly meal from here on out.
My grandmother was an immigrant Hungarian and made this dish as a taste of heaven. You remind me so much of here...hair style, house dress, her accent was heavier but she was an angel of a woman and such a great cook. It was my delight to help her make apple strudel and I remember her covering the table with comic papers and then wax paper and she would roll the dough until I could tell her I see the comics under it. Great and loving memories.
Thank you oma for posting this. Iam writing w tears in my eyes you remind me so much of my dear mother who has since passed away she was also born in Hungary in sophron I watched her cook this was my favorite growing up still is and u make it just like she did... And yes the house dress is fine. Be comfortable I say! I wear my mom's now when I bake or cook I feel she's w me ...even your accent is very similar I will definitely pass these videos on to friend s
My husband is Hungarian descent and says Oma sounds like all his Hungarian aunties. Such a charming lovely lady! I look forward to trying her recipe! hugs
I found Oma about 4 years ago❤ I have made this recipe many times over the last 4 years. In fact 4 days ago!! I came back just to see Oma and make it! I really just love her! She reminds me so much of my Grandma, down to the "house dress"! 😍😍😍😍
Thank you for the recipe. And thank you for explaining the "secret" of adding cold water before adding the flour and the "secret" of letting the liquid cool off before adding the sour cream. I use them in a lot of dishes and I never knew the importance of lowering the temperature before adding them. Thank you. I really enjoyed your video and I will be making chicken paprikash for my family in just a few minutes. I will probably add some cut-up potatoes in mine.
My great grandmother and grandfather were from hungary, and we serve homemade hungarian dumplings with ours, I do everything, but the spices and vegetables...thank you for your video.
I just want to give this sweet little lady a big fat smooch on the cheek! Reminds me of both of my grandmothers who were both great cooks. Love you to pieces Oma!
So glad I found your channel Oma. I am 75 yrs old and trying to learn a few Hungarian dishes to honor my Hungarian grandma who has been gone since I was 10yrs old. My older sister was privileged to cook with grandma and remembers her cooking. Thank you for your courage to face the world thru UA-cam….you seem to be a “natural”.
well Oma~now aren't you just the sweetest Oma out there~ everyone should have an Oma like you~Such a kindred spirit with that "playful lil girlish" side of you~you are just delightful~i will be making this a frequent "go to" channel from now on~My mother wore the same house dresses that you wear~she is gone now~ i am 57 in May~2014 and she would have been 78 now. Those dresses are great for home wear~that fabric is awesome & you are just the sweetest~ This dish will be on my table tomorrow YUMMIE
This recipe made me fall in love with Hungarian cuisine. I still keep coming back to it just to make sure I am making it the way Oma made it. Thanks Oma! :)
Mrs. Fritz, Thank you sooooo much for this recipe. Looks heavenly! Can't wait to make this dish. I need to find Hungarian Paprika first. My Mom use to wear house dresses all the time too. You look lovely, & I wish I could come to your house for any dinner you make. All your dishes look soooooooooooooo good. God Bless!
Amazing simply amazing a simple dish to set on a table for a family to eat. The table is a great equalizer and food is the center piece thank you so much oma for giving this wonderful recipe.
Thank you for making your recipes available on you tube. They are beyond wonderful and bring back many memories for me. My parents left Hungary in 1956 and yet I grew up with the delights of the HU kitchen. Some of my favorite foods were a slice of bread spread with fat and sprinkled with paprika and eaten with a slice of green pepper for an after school snack. I have no idea where the fat came from but my mother always had a vat of it at the ready for all her cooking. Thank you for bringing back some wonderful memories. Sokszor koszonom.
When are you going to make more videos, I just love to watch you cook, your so sweet. My husband is from Romania and your food makes him think of his home food,
Oma, you are so adorable. My mother was from Mexico and she always wore house dresses as well. She had different colors and patterns. My oldest sister kept some and she wears them when she's sick. I loved watching you cook and the chicken looked delicious. I also love your blue pot. I'm a big fan of enamel on steel pots.
Cried my eyes out the whole video because my oma just passed and she wore the same kind of house dress and her accent is almost the same as my oma's..... 100% new subscriber!
@Jackson Piatnek my grandma was german all the way.... i wish I would've paid more attention to some things but she got dementia and that was hard.... thank you and im sorry for your loss also 😇
I'm sure this recipe is delicious. I had to stop watching after about 30 seconds. I was completely overcome with emotion. Just hearing her voice reminded me of my Oma so much I was brought to tears. ❤️
My wife is a mix of several of European cultures. I am a few also. She loves your recipes and she cooks very well too. Thank you for this recipe. You have no idea how important and valuable these are. You are promoting the Hungarian culture and lifestyle with very pleasant outcome. God keep you always well for many years to come. You have shared with a warm heart such delightful recipes that make us very happy. You are like family to us. We watch as often as we can and whenever we want to make authentic Hungarian cuisine. Igen, te vagy a legjobb hölgy a youtube-on. Köszönjük, a központtól a szívünkben. Te főzöl csodálatos!
I love your recipes! As for your house dress. My Grandma Oma wore House dresses, my Mum wears house dresses, and I wear house dresses. Old fashioned? - For sure. - However, they are totally comfy. I've even made my own house dress. The fabric was pretty little Blue Flowers on a Cream colored background, and I could not think of a better pattern for it. So, it became a House dress.
I’m back 3 years later, pregnant and craving Oma’s chicken paprikash 😂 I wrote the recipe down so I don’t have to hope into UA-cam 30 times while making it 😂
I am also from Hungary & I also follow the tradition of wearing a house dress while doing chores around the house. My 90 year old Mother still wears her house dresses, the only thing she's comfortable in. You are such a delight to watch! My Mother, sister, & I, all enjoy your cooking videos, even though we already know all of the recipes & have Hungarian food every day. Keep up the wonderful cooking. You are such a sweetheart! We Love You!
Dear Oma! Thank you for the cooking secrets you are shearing here. I think hungarian cuisine is one of the best in the world! I use to live in Hungary for 5 years and remember the food and taste of the food.
