Why call it sex? it was rape. This is so hard to listen to. It’s beyond me why they were given life sentences for such horrific acts done by their parents. The system failed these men so badly. I hope they are finally released.

Because back then, rape was legally defined as happening to women only. I believe they werenny allowed to call it rape in court. Also, I'm sure it would have been even worse for Eric to have to say rape repeatedly or even hear it.

The Menedez brothers are some of the first men to publicly discuss the incestual sexual abuse they endured. This was a different time, boys and men were afraid to come forward because they were often made fun of (like the brothers were). They have served enough time. They need to be let out of prison.

I don't know about shocking considering this appears to have been prevalent within these wealthy families unfortunately. My guess if they were acquitted, it would have opened a fire storm and scandal into abuse and harassment from these top executives. So it makes you wonder why the Judge didn't allow their testimony. They thought the first trial was open and shut, then everyone else could move on with their lifestyles. Look how far back Weinstein's allegations go.........Epstein and the powerful around him, now Diddy, offering the judge/court $50 mil TWICE to keep from staying in jail. J. It's all the little random details that make me say they can't be lying. Like him admitting that he had something STD, why would you add that if it's fake? Also, the time when Lyle admitted to molesting Eric! That's another thing that if they're lying, why would they even add that?? It definitely makes Lyle look terrible, I'm sure they didn't even know that was a side effect back then. We now know kids hurt kids when they are abused. One last thing that kills me to is that lyle, even up until recently, had questions about whether or not Eric liked it or was a bit of a willing participant. His response to Eric was "what are you gay? why didn't you stop it?" Back before the murders. These are all awful details that I don't think someone would just make up to make their story more believable on the fly. Also I feel like if someone coached them on what to say, they would protest saying some of these awful things, making them look terrible! I've always believed the boys but it's these details that I feel most people can't deny

So it wasn't just Lyle passing on his trauma, he actually thought it was normal.
This is also a vers crucial thing that people don't think about when the comes to SA of children, they are being groomed, they know exactly what to say to make them comply and also break them psychologically.

I'm wondering if the judge during the trial felt any compassion at all, knowing that sentencing these boys to life in prison would mean making them suffer even more. It was heartbreaking to watch Erik describe his emotions while being abused, and yet the questioning from the woman seemed so casual, almost indifferent. She didn't seem to care how much pain her questions brought him, nor did she consider how humiliating it was for him to relive those moments. I wonder if the judge, the jury, or even the prosecutor had ever experienced repeated sexual abuse themselves. I'm not saying I wish they or their children would, but I can't help but wonder if they would have approached the case differently-maybe with more sensitivity and understanding. The way she questioned him felt so harsh, and the lack of empathy from everyone involved, from the judge to those who handed down the life sentence, was truly unsettling.

I wish i hadn't clicked on this immediately after eating, it made me feel to vomit! IF this stuff is true, these were some extraordinarily sick creatures who should have been locked away without access to children. An IF it is true, (which it feels genuine to me but who knows), these two guys should be FREE. Did they ever take a polygraph? That menudo member coming forward, a bit late! Why didn't he speak up back when these brothers were on trail? Maybe he wasn't ready and i dont want to pass judgement on someone let alone a supposed abuse /assault victim, but i definitely would have come forward to coorbirate their testimony. It would have helped their creditability!!! This sick deranged details are very hard to listen to & hear, the STD's all in the family. The media definitely painted these two to be spoiled brat weasels out for greed & rid of the hassle and burden of parents. I believed the abuse, we were all abused back then. But the sexual stuff? I thought it was a defense mechanism, a tactic to gain sympathy for them as "victims". But they also didn't air this grotesque stuff on tv back then. Not that id be allowed to watch it at my age. I know they've been trying to get out all these years too. Unless more people come forward, the truth is hard to say but going by his body language and discomfort in discussing it, he's either a very skilled actor with his life depending on it, or legit. I wish they'd gone to someone? Gotten people involved, told more people while it was happening. Rich folks have power but you've got to try doing more, not just resorting to murder without pursuing criminal action first. Maybe they did, but im not aware. I admit i only know from bits I recall as a young girl when this occured & a tv movie which isn't always the most accurate source. Abuse victims shouldn't be in prison. Our court and justice system is broken and heinously corrupt!!!

@melissahouse3488 Well you have seen yourself that these two young men didn't get any sympathy from anyone back then , they were a laughing stock on TV ! Abused as children especially by your own parents , it's such a betrayal that for the young brain hard to process and such a psychological damage that coming out it's not an easy thing to do. They did come out but by that time they were young adults , imagine the anger they had felt but also fear , that fear that they had all their lives. I do believe the brothers and it was no acting. With regards to Menudo victim , he was going through his own trauma and looking at what happened to Menendez brothers and how publicly they were crucified do you really think it would motivate anyone to come out with such shocking truth besides he was still in the industry and clearly didn't want to be out as he worked hard for his career. Why do you think so many victims are coming now not then? Because the society then was not ready to listen and understand . Look at Nickelodeon kids, Weinstein, Epstein and many other cases and not then but now ! So blaming the brothers and Menudo for not coming out is just not right and these victims need to be listened to and understood. Free the Menendez brothers, it's about time !
