There are FOUR main characters!
Everyone keeps forgetting about Norm, the sneak/hacker class.
Pretty sure that Norm is EpicNate's avatar 😂
His sneak is so high that he avoided detection from the audience
@@TheRealSonicBeats LMAO!!
Facts! Crucial to the plot and Norm also got just a few minutes less of screen time than Maximus
And, he's fucking Rico.
I really liked how the 3 main characters represents different play styles of the games.
What would Lucy be? She seems like a little bit of everything.
@@TitanSubZero15 the reactive player
The ghould is definitely high perception Vats build with bloody mess equipped and selected all tough guy dialogue options lol
@@TitanSubZero15 lucy is more on charisma. like my playstyle always charisma on top.
Lucy tried the pacifist playthrough but almost got her killed so she switched midway.
The fact that Cooper is also the original Vault Boy is the most brilliant part of the whole season.
To see the voice behind codsworth (in-universe) was also pretty sick.
@@Ahmed-qu1mpI swear it's not the same in the show as it is in the games, right? Could be wrong but it sounded different to me. Def agree that it was cool seeing him in the past as a regular dude tho lol
@@bigaj6901I heard it was some kind of Union thing
@@bigaj6901 I looked it up and unfortunately it wasn’t I was bummed by that but still pretty cool and he sounds just like him.
Eh
I like that the creative side of the production resisted the urge to reinvent the wheel with props and costumes etc. the laser rifle looks like the laser rifle for example
I adored a lot of those details, like how Lucy’s Pip-Boy uses the Fallout 4 interface and at one point you see her scrolling through her data tab.
“Thou shalt get sidetracked by bullshit every single time.” Is probably the best, most accurate movie/TV quote I’ve heard all year.
When that guy got shot with the plastic baby leg from the junk jet i lost it.
It's a shame that despite seeing a few laser rifles, we never actually see anyone fire one.
Don't you mean "reinvent the wheel of time"?
@@SweatyPaulsYeah.
That was a shame, but it's nice that they put in the effort for those who recognised them.
I'd actually love to see the Cryolator at some point.
When the brother, hacks the overseers computer. Its the same hacking screen from the games. Very cool little detail they didn't need to add but they did. :")
Agreed
Fun fact: hacking from the game is extremely similar to how you would sniff an unencrypted network packet in real life!! I was shocked when I started learning about it and was like “holy shit it’s fallout”
@@redwoodclimber currently deep in first playthrough of New Vegas (actually Who Vegas mod).... First Fallout game for me.... And I actually really dig the hacking minigame! Nice to know - thanks!
@@redwoodclimberWoooow who would have thought? That’s really cool thanks for sharing
Would also be cool to see them pick a locks with bobby pins.
Lucy looking at the NCR flag and then the New Vegas music kicking in was a godly moment
I welled up when that happened.
Da doom doom! Those 3 notes...iconic
Its just to bad they retcon the game
@@yzertax5148 Man you people will not shut up about this huh. Even though it's been debunked a million times
Wasn't that FO4/3 theme?
I really liked the chicken ****er scene, I was immediately thinking this is a random encounter. Not is all as it seems. You walk into something and think you know what choice to make and suddenly you are completely wrong.
Yes, that was an early favorite of mine as well. The Wasteland absolutely need to have weird as hell people inhabiting it, that are hard to gauge at first glass. People that are clearly a product of their harsh and fucked up surroundings.
Remember in Fallout if you don't get a new water chip your entire vault dies? The stakes are high, there's drama, great characters and world-building, lore. It was an amazing experience. Now, we are reduced to people loving a minor throwaway character who **** chickens! It's truly pathetic.
@@matthewreese2483 Yeah and in that same game you can find a crashed spaceship with the portrait of Elvis on an alien corpse, a Tardis, talking cows and Godzilla's footprint. Oh yeah and let's not forget about that time a guy quotes the Joker at you. Or about Harry the super mutant. Fallout 1 was definitely darker than what came after, but goofy stuff was there from the start. And just a year later Fallout 2 would have multiple monty python references, a literal ghost, ridicoulusly over the top villains, fourth wall breaking characters, a entire city's worth of gangster film rerefences and even time travel in one random encounter. I wonder if you even played classif Fallout, or if you're just another NPC who repeats anti-woke youtube talking points. The show has its problems but the Fallout feel was definitely there.
@@matthewreese2483 u need to play more fallout 1 there are a lot of jokes like that
I like how the guy picks up the suit and starts walking away normally, like he’s an NPC, and on the next scene, he’s running, just like NPCs behaving weirdly 😂
I had really high hopes for Walton Goggins and he's fucking slayed the role. Absolute badass and a joy to listen to. Kinda wish he had more big mainstream roles.
he really is worth the hype imo
I hope we see him in some warmer roles, I really feel like he has a huge range.
Walton Goggins was all I needed to hear to watch Fallout, what an amazing show and hope a S2 gets green lit
@@jasonmcmurtry7812 Same here. Watching a Fallout TV show was already a given for me, but when I heard he was playing a major character my expectations went way up.
@@chrisj320ac3He’s great in a show called The Unicorn. He also produced it. It’s only 2 seasons but it’s great. He plays a widowed father trying to get into the dating game again. I really enjoyed it.
Cooper/The Ghoul was also a Marine in the Anchorage campaign, before the bombs fell.
So he knows a lot about the power armor.
Why didnt the ghoul kill Maximus with the same power armor kill shot he used later in the show? Was it because he read the script and knew a big battle in Filly must happen??
If you're familiar with weapons you'd notice in the finale's battle they had a close up of Cooper loading a SLAP round into his revolver. SLAP (saboted light armor penetrator) are specialty rounds to punch through armor but would zip right through flesh leaving a minimal wound channel. Whereas in the Filly gunfight and most of the show, he was using expanding rounds which do maximum damage and trauma to soft targets but will just splat like a bug on a windshield and spall against armor.
IRL SLAP rounds are absurdly expensive. Don't buy suspiciously cheap ones. Doug from the YT channel Kentucky Ballistics was seriously iniured and almost died when a fishy .50 BMG SLAP round he bought online exploded. It sent shrapnel everywhere, collapsed his lung, narrowly missed his carotid artery after entering his neck, broke his thumb, and would've blinded him were he not wearing safety glasses.
@@DanielFlores-tl5vu You can look at it two ways... Plot purposes because there wouldn't be any point killing one of the protagonists that early on. Then there's Cooper not having the right ammo to take Maximus down, but I do think Cooper's sidearm jammed hence how he had to swap to his rifle.
Im having a bit of fun. I liked the show but it is funny seeing the ghoul transform from pelting the power armor uselessly with dozens of shots letting Maximus get ever closer to just one-shooting dudes in the finale. Guess when he needs the knowledge of that weakness he can exploit it
i loved the main trio and how they represented different stages of players lives in the game.
lucy is like a fresh player right out of the vault.
maximus is a player swept up in a faction quest.
and Walton Goggins is an immortal player with 3k hours whose modded the game to hell and back
HAHAHAHAHA yeesss this is golden!
Exactly with different karmas. Lucy was that player that refused to do any bad karma choices 😂
Except ghouls are not technically immortal 😊
@@Reelgladtell The Ghoul that..... 😂
I couldn't stand Maximus right up until the last episode (spoilers). Every time throughout the show that he managed to grab power (becoming a squire, taking the power suit, bullying Thaddeus) he would get this stupid, self-satisfied smile on his face because all he wanted was power over other people. But in the last episode, the whole brotherhood is cheering "All hail Knight Maximus" and he just looks DONE with everything. I thought that really put a nice bow on his developement and just brought me fully on board.
Yeah that's character growth. He wants to hurt the people who hurt him.... But then he finds there's a different thing to want. A different world to hope for. And he can't punch his way to it. It's a great arc.
Yeah his character arc was great
This made me fall in love with fallout again I had no expectations and was blown away.
Yes they should’ve timed the next gen update to be at the same time this show released
I loved how often they walked while the classy music was playing 👌
that stuff felt perfect
All of it was very Fallout faithful.
When they started playing the minute man radio music I fucking lost it because I hated hearing it in Fallout 4 and then they had a joke about people hating the minute man music 😭😭. That's how I knew somebody that's a true fan or involved in this community was behind the scenes of the show. You'd have to be involved in the community to know that people hate that music 😂😂😂
@@streetside2833 the Castle may be my fav settlement but i need to turn down my radio volume in there lmao
Every time I heard a stimpak or any other sound lifted right from the game, I felt so good lmao. A very good show!
Getting a faithful adaptation of a beloved franchise almost feels like someone made a mistake because they always seem to change everything about the world that the fans love to appeal to casual audiences. I love that this show has retained all the weirdness, charm and gore of the Fallout games and didn’t deliver something that felt watered down.
Loved the pip boy sounds, brought back memories 🥲
Yeah, I caught myself trying to push down on the D-pad.
1000%
I really wanna hear someone make the refreshing noise "ahh" after a gulp of Nuka Cola lmao
As Walton Goggins said in an interview (para) "It's amazing that the brother who won an Oscar for making a movie about the first atomic bomb, and the other brother makes a movie about USING the bomb to end civilisation."
The sequel.
yeah it is kind of a fan fiction sequal of what oppenheimer predicted would happen

Fallout is special because of the balance it holds between being unsettling/heavy and humorous/lighthearted.
I am through episode 5 so far and feel the show has been masterful so far in that balance.
I think the show also really recognizes its identity. There is no need to explain or retcon some of the more video-gamey parts of Fallout. Like, stimpaks=health.
I loved how shittily The Ghoul treated Lucy at first because he knew she was related to Hank somehow. Such good writing!
I love, how she absolutely forgets him all of that and follows him in the end
@@user-hs9jx6wj9d they're united in hate
@@user-hs9jx6wj9d nah thats accurate to the games many times u get entangled with people who u arent exactly on good terms with but u share a goal
@@17thknight that's some weak reason
@@agssilv5919 do you understand, that these twists don't work even in games, and they always feel extremely forced, that you SHOULD unite with a character, that treated you like a piece of meat, cut your limbs, sell for drugs, almost let you drown? And out of a sudden, your character has an amnesia, and the game pairs you with this piece of shit, just cos now we both hate our dad. I'm watching LIVE adaptations to see, how these ingame situations would play out in a spin of REALITY. And i feel, like I'm watching a badly poorly written show, where every character is still an npcs, made by Bethesda
I took a star off, 'cause Butcher Pete wasn't on the soundtrack. Plus a billion points for being contemporary Prestige TV that actually lights their night scenes.

HEY EVERYBODY HAS THE NEWS BEEN AROUND
@@traceyrinaldi4759Yeah, I mean they can't blow all the songs, creatures, factions, and lore in one season. They should space it out.
Great point about the lighting. You're right, no scenes were overly dark. Refreshing. They did a fantastic job consistently emulating the lighting of the game in every scene.
I was fearing the worst and had very little expectations for this but damn they absolutely nailed it. I'm loving it.
I think it helped A LOT that it was simply set in the universe, but told its own story, but the intro was very reminiscent of one of the games, that helped immensely, especially for already established fans.
Exactly right. I love that there were elements from Fallout 3 and 4’s stories, but different enough to be its own thing. Also really enjoyed the pre-war scenes, which felt like a great expansion to the series. Wish we’d seen a flashback to Operation Anchorage though as it was mentioned
It is one of the strength Fallout has over something like HALO. Fallout is the setting and has a solid lore that you can weave so many stories onto. No specific Main character like Master Chief or Geralt from the Witcher. Definitely helped this Series get this well received.
Them holding on to deathclaws and supermutants is fine, they earned their second season for sure, nice to have big things to look forward to, and all the better for giving these moments the time they deserve, instead of just hitting everything on a "Fallout checklist,"
What I loved was when this guy is chilling by the radio stations and it’s like a customer greeting a cashier at the grocery store, and he compliments him on the bear traps full of corpses and decapitated heads like it’s another day hahaha
I almost lept out of my seat when they showed the meeting with the cirporations, big MT, and MR HOUSE of all people.
I didn’t notice Mr house I saw the “rob co” but was questioning ughh 😭
I lept out of my seat, when I've heard, that he was the part of the apocalypse plan, and not one of those, who actually did everything to protect his place from bombs, when he predicted, that it will get much worse of a war. You know, how obsidian made him
I loved it. They didn’t pull the punches there - Fab show and I was amazed they subjected Lucy to such violence in the world. When her finger was chopped off. I was like “wow, they went there”
And then they literally sew it back on, so it was pointless
@@user-hs9jx6wj9d not at all the point of that wasn't her getting her finger cut it was to show her character there is no limit to what can happen here and also to put a spin on her golden rule she was willing to cut cooper's finger well now its happening to her
I love the "washing the dishes gap".
I wasn't washing dishes, but I was running my thickness sander and needed to brush off to get my phone out.
The comedy was so well done. All the way from my 47 your old mom to my 13 year old younger sister were laughing our asses off at a few parts
I'm glad they held off on creatures for now. They did a great job of creating the gulper and got great value out of it being revealed to two different sets of characters. Then to go into the detail that its mouth is made of fingers is hilarious. The fact that they explain it in vault 4 as being mutated humans was great for world building.
I think if new viewers came into this world being inundated with CGI nonsense creatures it would be so difficult for new viewers to get onboard. They also didn't have to overstretch the CGI budget, but now I think they've laid the groundwork to really open up that side of the world in season 2. I can definitely imagine them inventing a fan-favourite super mutant sidekick or building a whole episode to reveal the horrific centaurs.
When the Fallout 4 theme hit, I got goosebumps. The show’s really good :)
I'm glad they chose Vault-Tec to be at the centre of the story. The conspiracies and secret experiments on unsuspecting vault dwellers are such a staple of the games.
They downplayed vault tec by making them less influential, than government. In game, it was vault tec, that puppeted government, cos they were THIS rich and influential
@@user-hs9jx6wj9d cooper's friend does say that vault tec is more powerfull than the gov and that they are pulling the strings

Who’d have thought that making a faithful and fun adaption would be successful and popular?! Crazy! *Stares angrily at Halo show*
Amazon fucked up 4 adaptions. Ruined 2 fantasy epics. And 1 other video game. But we got fallout.
@@NastySasquatch Very true - Rings of Power for me was unforgivable. But I think blaming Amazon/Disney etc. is too simple - the individual show runners and lead writers should be held to account too. I loved that too! 😄
@@martinargota I have to wonder how many people who’s heads that flew right over….? It’s a clever line because of a person isn’t a gamer but is enjoying the show than that line still makes sense and all but has a different context. Where as if the viewer is a gamer than the line takes on a whole new meaning because anyone who plays open world games like Fallout or Elder Scrolls or even the newest two Zelda games (BOTW and TOTK) knows exactly what it’s like to be heading to a place specifically for a mission only to see a cool whatever just a bit off the path causing a long and drawn out set of events to snowball and before you know it your an hour into other missions and completely forgot the original reason you were heading that way. Hahaha.
What shocked me the most was how much I ended up liking the vault subplot. The throwaway characters actually had arcs lol
Like literally thrown away into Vault 32
Honestly the guy that plays Norm is fucking phenomenal. He can say and do so much story telling with just a look, or standing in a hallway it’s wild.
But every time I saw him I couldn’t help go ‘ricoooooo’ and my wife and daughter would laugh 😂
I have a strong feeling what happened in Vault 31, 32, & 33 is going to have big ramifications. They have shown us as much as they have because something bigger is going to happen there. I suspect Norm is going to be the catalyst, for better or worse.
Did anybody else notice the super mutant on the gurney in one of Wilzig’s first scenes? It was covered by a sheet, but you could see the green hand poking through.
I missed that! Hopefully we see some in season 2.

Season 2 gonna have SUPER MUTAAAAANTS
Great spoiler editing, much appreciated. You know exactly how we watch you. Thanks to you, Jake, and Falcon for always helping with dinner and the cleanup.
I loved this show, can't wait for season two. There's so much more value in this show than anything on Disney.
i loved the evolution of the phrase "okie dokie" throughout the show.
22:17 'Harder-core' Fallout fan here. I loved it too! I'm all about the second-hand enjoyment I see from both casual players as well as non-gamers when it comes to the show, I just so hope they stick the landing in Season 2, because what a setup!
I humbly agree on your perspective. Happy to see that Cardio Genetics enjoyed the show like me and many others did! - P.S. Thank you for all of the New Vegas: Caedo's Countdowns you created a long while back! Was, personally, pretty helpful for my playthroughs. Hope you have a wonderful day and/or night, God bless!
I watched the whole thing waiting, just waiting for them to mess it up. I was cynical, saying things like “oh wow, ok they have the music…what else they got?, where’s the humour. It came in spades.
I’ve not laughed out loud in ages, but when they gave Goosey two weeks of supplies….
They didn’t mess this up, and this is amazingly well executed, both for fans and newcomers. Let’s do more of this.
War never changes, video game adaptations do.
I loved the whole conspiracy with the vaults. They nailed how the vaults supposedly these sanctuaries from the outside world only to find out that wasn't exactly accurate. Also, you find out such sinister plots and how its all connected. Every episode felt like another piece to this mysterious puzzle and at the very end...that final surprise! Oh man, my mouth dropped! They really nailed it!
I was in fact, washing dishes while watching this vid 😂
🤣👍
Same 😂
the 1st episode started and ended with songs that i loved in the game. that's when i knew that im gonna stick around to the end of the season
I love how you can definitely tell the SPECIAL scale for all the main characters in the show
I just finished the season. I really like how the stories meshed together. I thought the mystery really came together by the end, and we have questions still for season 2. I hope we get a deathclaw in season 2!!
It's my favorite live action video adaptation
i think its mine too
Mine as well 👍
including movies, or just TV series?
I'm seriously torn between Fallout and TLOU being my favourite.
But yeah Fallout was phenomenal and definitely exceeded my expectations.
Easily fallout for me.
Last of us was just a copy/paste of the game with a filler episode and rushed finale.
Bro did give me enough time to dry my hands while doing the dishes 😅
I was equally engaged with the three main characters and the Vault stuff so none of it felt like filler to me.
Looking forward to Season 2
I was very much actually doing dishes when you gave me the spoiler heads up! Perfect!
One of my favorites was actually Norm MacLean! I'm just so surprised at how much I liked his character! Also, I agree about the creatures... needs more mole rats, rad roaches, and bloatflies!
i guess it was like some Games where you start with a set-scene with 1 monster to kick off but end up fighting hordes.
Don’t forget, Lucy never really left the starting area. Gotta go further out to find the stronger stuff. Passive level gating is the best.
I finished it last night and honestly it was one of the best game adaptions, hands down.
Really appreciate the time you gave for the dish washers
I could literally sit and watch the show forever. It was lengthy, but I want more... I need more..
Watch it the second time then
The Westworld reboot was rad! Johnathan Nolan nailed it! Agent Cooper in Power Armour?
That's a big thumbs-up!
I like how Maximus bumbles around doesn’t really know what he’s doing and ends up saving the world and becoming the leader of a faction. Just like me the first time I played any Bethesda game.
Also thr character growth ep 1 max would have done anything to be promoted to knight while ep 8 max couldn't have given less of a fuck and just wanted to know what happened to lucy
When Howard swaggered in and intimidated Hank asking where is family was, was pure cinema.

Objectively speaking: best videogame adaptation ever made
There have been good things over the years but this is on another level for sure
I hope that deathclaw skull shown at the end becomes a makeshift raider-style helmet for Lucy's dad in his newly acquired power armor.
This show is 10/10 the best adaptation of a videogame EVER. Absolutely loved it and super stoked for more!

One of my favourite small details in the show was when they introduced Lucy and as she describes herself she shows her repair skills, unarmed skills, science skills etc. Like the different skills your character has in the games

It was never stated in the game what makes ghouls feral. The drug is for ghouls who have signs of going feral, not all of them.
If you heard what Roger the ghoul said, its been 28 years since he showed signs of being feral.
So its basically not a retcon really, just adding more to ghoul lore.

Really happy abot this one. It's really good. Some inconsistencies, not 100% on board with some scene's execution, but as a whole it's so good that it doesn't matter. It's incredible that the actor playing Lucy is also Jinx in Arcane, another amazing video game adaptation (the best one for me by quite a distance).
The detail to the props like those in the Filly stores were great. Many of the signs were dead on and the inclusion of game music was very well done. Lucy's progression was done well too. That acting was top notch, I really felt for her brother back in the vault.

The costume design, the props and backgrounds. So Amazing.
The show was fantastic.
I'm glad it's officially canon to the game series and am intrigued by what they'll do with a new New Vegas Fallout story.
Also Cooper officially being the inspiration for Vault Boy was really cool.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if obsidian is cooking a new fallout game right now since bethesda had their hand full with starfield and now oblivion
I’m a huge fan of the series and this show was amazing thru and thru. Great vid!
This show has convinced me once and for all that we’re no longer watching stories anymore but watching content. I wonder what the next IP will be to get the same kind of treatment
The only thing i didnt care for was Maximus’ awkward dialogue in that one vault. And even then it wasn’t horrible or anything. Just didnt land with me. Super solid show overall
I’m was dying when I saw that scene. However I get it, some joke don’t land for others
He's supposed to be awkward. I dont think a lot of people understand that
That's a thing that I think was done beautifully. It's the nuclear post-apocalypse; EVERYONE'S gonna be a little wonky, and like Matthew said, Maximus is extra awkward *on top of that*.
I loved those parts 🤣
Vault 4. The mutant vault (not super mutants, just mutants)
I'd been awkward too. I believe It was trying to show how "out of his element" he was.
He's gonna trip and fall backward straight into authority.
Maximus ended up becoming my favorite character as the series progressed. I cannot wait for season 2.
Really? First person I've heard say this. :)
To each their own I guess.
@@taylemgames2652 Indeed. Maximus is the only character with NO agency. He is just reacting randomly to different events xD One moment laughing and 2 seconds later looking dead grim. Does not sell it at all.
All hail Knight Maximus! All hail Knight Maximus!
Absolutely loved Maximus. You can sense theres a dark side to Him. I nearly thought the reveal was He was going turn into the bad guy. But He kept surprising me how goofy and kind hearted He was. Plus His friend at the base was a real one. Definitely made me think of the companions from the games.
Im so stoked that you gave a great review of the show! Im 40 and I have listened to you and Falcon for many years now haha (best of dish-washing times, guys! You werent there....but i was...?🤷🏼♂️)
Goggins is amazing, really glad he's in the show. An easier sell, for sure. Looking forward to watching the season
Avoided many YT vids until I got to see the last episode. Aye, they did seem to get it, nail it, without overplaying the fan service at all. The mood and tone set, how they handled the Fallout world and lore, to me was spot on. The arguments over New Vegas were bound to erupt online. But for me, the show would be daft to really decide to go after and crap over NV, would be an own goal to do so, I think. Rambling... Once again, your enthusiasm and love for games (in general) is a joy to watch. And, give that dog a good scratch behind the ear! That was a pause "oo, look at him" moment, indeedy and Okie Dokie (sorry, had to?).
I lurved it! 💪 🔥 👊 🏆
