- Come in Chosen One. There are things you must know. The village is dying the signs are everywhere. Withering crops. Dying Brahmin. Sick children. There is hope, however. A slim hope that few know of. The old disks speak of an item called the garden of Eden creation kit. It is said it can bring life to the wasteland. This will be your quest if you prove yourself worthy. For that proof you must first journey to the temple of trials. If you survive come back to me we will talk more. Our life is in your hands Chosen One. Prove yourself, find the GECK, be our salvation. At twenty years old The Chosen One was taken to the temples entrance where Klint the temples guardian made sure they wouldn’t leave without taking the mystic test. They had after all trained for this moment their entire life.
Inside they found a strange corridor made of stone along with various obstacles they needed to beat. There were giant ants, radscorpions with venomous stingers, deadly floor traps and Cameron a tribal and expert in unarmed combat. While we don’t know how The Chosen One passed the test, they could have used any combination of skills, but in the very last room atop the stairs, They found The Vault Dwellers Jumpsuit, a relic of their grandfather’s, and with it they could prove to the elder that they were ready to be The tribe’s Champion. You have survived the temple of trials. Are you ready for your quest? Pay attention. Find the holy vault 13 and bring back the GECK. Vic, the trader from Klamath brought us the flask from the holy 13. Start your search with him. The disk will remind you of your task. may the gods of the vault watch over you.

Come in Chosen One...
Find the GECK, save our people and destroy the enclave, oh chosen One!
I’ve heard her say that and seen those ugly kids at least 50 times love fallout 2
Are you ready for your Quest?
Cum*
Come in and hit this bong, chosen one..
I never knew they killed the Overseer about banishing the Vault Dweller I'm kinda glad his people didn't agree with his decision
Honestly I don’t see how the Overseer didn’t see that as a possible outcome at all lol You got rid of the guy who saved the vault and THEN stopped the super mutants. Of course they’d be mad! Whatever influence he was trying to stop already happened! But, I guess… that was the point.
I honestly like the option to just murk him yourself. disrespectful old man
I definitely think that the Dweller killing the Overseer was a better option for an ending. After going through all the trouble to get the water purifying chip for Vault 13, the Overseer gives the Dweller the boot. Either way, the asshole had it coming.
First time finding that out too. Never played the old Fallouts. Fallout 3 was my introduction into the world of Fallout.
😳 I appreciate the likes definitely wasn't expecting this type of turn out 🫡
My favorite protagonist. Also a fun fact that not many people who play realise. The village elder is your Mother. I don’t know why but it took me two playthroughs to put two and two together lol. She was putting EVERYTHING she loved on the line by sending her son on this journey. That’s how serious it was for them to find the G.E.C.K. So cool.
I wonder what she meant by “the gods of the vault”
@@MulliganSnicker The writers probably thought that would sound exotic and mysterious but it's absolutely nuts lmao
Seems like in Fallout universe it takes only one generation to develop a polytheistic tribal religion
@@Tgungen I mean tbf it takes less than a generation for groups like Branch Davidans to form up. Im sure in a post apocalyptic hell scape many people would be looking at some batshit crazy ideas and not seeing it be crazy.
I could be wrong but I think shes the grand child of the Vault Dweller.
@@perplexedzeus1 Nope, she is the daughter of the Vault Dweller and the Chosen One’s mother.
The chosen one is easily the most badass fallout protagonist, a tribal taking down the enclave at their own base in their prime
He's the only one that can compete with the Courier
Literally drives a cargo ship, whips across California in an atomic muscle car. Courier has seen some shit too but the chosen is just the GOAT
@@Tiltigo to be fair yeah getting shot in the head is hard to top and lonesome road is insane
@@abdielgrande9529 yeah I think it said the chosen one has access to a lot of cyborg enhancements but The courier does as well there's a whole place where you can improve all your stats and every special with cyborg implants

Imagine being on the coastline of a post nuclear war where it’s almost getting habitable and then you see ANOTHER mushroom cloud on the horizon
I wish.
And then, years and years later, you see ANOTHER
Because war… War never changes…
😅 if you can see it
Youre now blind
Fallout 4 sold us a lie, if you can see a nuclear fire. Youre looking at the alpha and beta radiation. If you see white or blue thats gamma, and without the blast wave youre already dead
@@donovanulrich348 🤓👆
Favorite video to date, I didn’t realize the chosen one had such an impact on the fallout universe as a whole. Without them the enclave would rule the wastes.
@Gyrfalcon312
Well said about this, Gyrfalcon...
So what on earth is that one highly popular "the Chosen One" storytelling trope here alright 🤔🙄?
@rahadianaryo5979 this is nearly texbook "the heroes journey"
forreals this vid so good
@Gyrfalcon312 just he its confirmed he bangs one of the bishop women and impregnates em in fallout new vegas
FUN FACT: If we take the secondary/mini missions as canon, the Chosen One is so MTHRFKN strong than he can win a Arm Contest against a SUPER MUTAN (See Francis Mini mission in Broken Hills)
It kind of warms my heart to know that the overseers decision to banish the vault dweller wasn't unanimously accepted. That they even took to the wasteland themselves in search of them.
From ignorant tribal, to government toppling power armored bad ass. The chosen ones character arc encompasses the character driven narratives fallout has become synonymous with. Such a good game.
Have you not played fallout 4? This is blatantly false. Bethesda fallout is a tragedy of how to remove the best systems from your games over time. But we needed some shitty building mechanic.
@@Someguyonline7732Can you shut up?
@@Someguyonline7732honestly, I don't get the hate for 4. I mean, I get how they got rid of some roleplaying mechanics, but it's still a fun game.
@@AHHHHHHHH21well, like some people i've heard before
"Fallout 4 is a good game, but it's not exactly a good Fallout game"
I forgot when did i heard that before, but somehow i kinda agree with it
@rowdyrobgaming8726 fallout 4 is good it just isn't the best fallout game hell the lore in fallout 4 is the second best in the series next to new vegas and the gun play feels amazing it had some fun dlc too saying fallout 4 isn't fallout is a ignorant take that only causes more issues not to mention without fallout 4 we wouldn't have the ability to make full dlc sized mods that play off of the base fallout 4 game
The Chosen One and Courier 6 are the most badass Fallout protagonists ever created
Ain't a coincidence that both of them aren't Vault Dwellers.
@@devastater97The Vault Dweller was pretty badass too though
Beating at the walls of heartache, bang, bang, I Am THE Courier
What about the lone wanderer...
Honestly, as many of you likely have by now, having played fo1 and 2 on their corresponding years, I'd say chosen one is a good mix of strength and intelligence toppling the other protagonists, mainly because of his background being that of a tribal without many resources as other had.
Vault dweller goes second simply because of what they achieved after living a lot of time relatively well in a vault, while lone wanderer goes third due to ALL the things he had to go through still taking in account his background as a veteran, which only makes him a more dangerous character than the others.
Then comes the courier, while being in my second favorite game the courier always felt more of the embodiment of luck itself rather than the inventive or a highly skilled due to its background character, all of this taking into account ALL the adventures he had to go through on all dlcs.
Though as far as games themselves go NV is vastly superior to the others since bugs aside it balanced out gameplay with roleplaying including an amazing story, would be amazing if bugthesda decided to check in with obsidian on remaking NV on a new engine, maybe something without glaring bugs as NV had, but I guess it also depends on what ppl rather play, isometrical wasn't bad in itself, but mindless 3rd person or 1P shooting is your thing while roleplaying then the later entries to fallout are the best.
The Chosen One is likely canonically male given that he fathered a child with a Bishop woman. The Vault Dweller was also refered to as a male in FO2 and Moira Brown calls the Lone Wanderer a he.
"Vic asked him to break into his house and take the old radio, to which the chosen one replied "oh, that was yours? I was kind of just stealing shit" "
I love stories about a band of misfits becoming friends so seeing consisting of a human, an intelligent deathclaw, and cybernetic dog was a joy to see. I'm also liking the supernatural aspect of the hero's journey that we don't really see in the other games. They do have mystical aspects but not like this. Not that I know of at least.
Also, Lone Wanderer, Courier, and Sole Survivor have lots of allies and even a Ghoul and a Super Mutant too
Yet they never managed to get an ally from an Intelligent Deathclaw
That's also one of the many points that Fallout 2 is one of the best in the series
@@MatsuSenpaii And maybe also the fact you can get a car being one of my favorites in my life in a roleplaying game
filling vault 13 with intelligent deathclaws was an interesting choice from Black Isle lol
Tbh i know this might be a hot take but that's one of the reasons i prefer Fo1, compared to any other of the games it is far darker and has a more consistent tone. Fo2 jumps around tone wise too much and is a bit too jokey. Still a great game though.
@@duncanmc797Fall out 2 is more mystic and strange.
Fallout 1 is pure post apocalypse. But I like the mystic and odd aspects of the fallout universe too.
@@EggEnjoyerseems its not "mystical" you like
Its literally tribalism you like
The religious, spiritual and mystical aspect are forms of tribal human social habits
The things we cant explain but observe need a name, a caveman would never call a phone a phone unless you explained it to them
"Virtabird". "Metal Bird". They are infact made of metal and flying, thats a metal bird 😂 but incorrect
@@donovanulrich348 I call it mystical because there is literal magic. It’s not just tribalism, but actual magic.
And people call helicopters birds today. The people of fallout while post apocalyptic, are still very technologically oriented as they exist in the future. Like it was the future when society fell. They live in a world of technology, even while in ruins, it’s more advanced than anything you and I have witnessed. This is the same world where sentient Ai walk around and lowly scavengers carry laser canons on their backs. They are not technologically illiterate compared to us.
@@EggEnjoyer I grew up with cartridge games, cassette tapes, CD's, VHS. Modern kids cane use 2 out of 4 of those without confusion if they even have the tools to access the data
And if I had a vision or experience with a spirit, and tried to convince you. It would mean nothing, but if your friend or family had the same experience you would possibly care. And likely you would call it a hallucination in our modern world just to fit in
That's tribalism 🤣 human social dynamics fall back on it.

I love this game because if you know where to go and what to do you can literally beat this game in like 2 hours, or spend 100 hours wandering through cities and doing side quests. I used a character editor to make myself a god on one playthrough to see if I could just get to the oil platform ASAP and it worked and my game had like 3 ending slides lmao
Damndest thing. That is actually the signature of obsidian games. Look it up.
@@cannibaletiquette5038i mean you cant really do that at all in fnv. Sure you can go straight to the strip but you still have to do a bunch of stuff before you do the battle of hoover dam. F3 has this more, but i think its more because of the simplicity of the main quest than any sort of design decision as f4 is the worst at this.
@@duncanmc797 couldn't say not gonna run off and fact check but I believe I read somewhere they got this work around where they make it possible, in all their games, to crush the main quest in under an hour.

I just realized the old woman daughter of the vault dweller has a tattoo on her neck
The feel of the old fallouts is so much better than the newer ones. Actually felt like a post apocalyptic world instead of a fan fiction like 4 and 76. Wish they would remake the first two with the same feel but 4s engine.
that would be hilarious
Molders are working on Fo1 in Fo4s engine, as well as F4NV and Capital Wasteland
Hardcore mods for fallout 4 played on survival makes for an incredible post apocalyptic experience imo. Stuff like scourge, true damage, maim, looted world, etc. That with your favorite guns and armor added to level lists really is something. It’s a great base that you can make into what you want.
Oh my god yes
A real FO1-2 remake should be a turn based strategy game
And optional modern engine for possible fps fallout
Look fallout 3 was a banger, it sold new vagas 😂
But thats cuz it was the first fps fallout. The appeal and story of 1-2 is paced for a strategy game/interactive movie
It would take un godly skill to pull that pacing in a fps and not ruin it with cutscenes and interaction prompts
Dude I fall asleep to your content, I know that may not sound like a compliment but your voice and cadence is perfect for long form documentary type videos. This video was excellent. The near end where Dr kershner gave the cure to the chosen one, you had me edge of seat volume up. Slapping my screen with money saying PAY attention son. The structure of the way you explained the Dr's last moments is why I'm saying this; GREAT JOB I'm so glad I've seen every one of your videos. Oxhorn for in depth gameplay and you for the moralistic and narrative of fallout. Thank you so much for making content!

Synonymous, you are one of my favorite Fallout lore channels. Along with Nth Apple and Oxhorn, N_orte, Tks Mantis and RadKing.
Also the village elder was voiced by the same actress who played Shadow Weaver in the 80's She-Ra cartoons. I don't quite remember her name.
Some people think the Chosen One is No-Bark, I personally hate that theory, the idea that such a heroic badass would have become an insane old man is just such a horrid conclusion, they saved the entirity of the world, they deserve to be leading Arroyo into an age of prosperity as it looked such a beautiful city.
I always figured No bark was a reference to The Barking Man, a character thats insane thats helped by the chosen one
@@illbehonestidontreallyunde547 Where was this? I don't remember encountering that character.

As a console peasant I’ve only played F3, NV and F4, so this was exactly what I’d always wanted. A tremendous effort that seemed perfectly weighted and paced to me. So good that now I find I’m greedy for abdorbing 1, 3, 4 and New Vegas through your style of presentation too.
So in case you ever feel inclined that’d be just fine and super dandy by me and I wholeheartedly encourage you!

It's cool how three fallout protagonists have their own vehicles. I mean Sole Survivor doesn't OWN the vertibird but yeah. And we never see the Lone Wanderer riding the motorcycle. But the chosen one gets their own car as well. Just makes me wonder what the courier or the vault dweller would've driven. Imma imagine the courier gets a nuclear moped akin to a pizza delivery moped

Deathclawz for universal health care!
This and the Vault Dweller lore were such incredible videos. I’d love to hear everything you know on the lone wanderer, courier and sole survivor in the distant future!!
I bet lore videos on the older Fallout games do well.
Newer Fallout players maybe don’t like or can’t get the full grips on the older Fallout gameplay but the stories are great. So videos like these are how you’d get the lore
Oh you weren’t kidding when you were talking about how long this videos gonna be. I’m hype.
going from a tribal whose first achievement is sharpening a spear with a piece of flint to melting everything before them wearing the cutting edge of power armor, the chosen one is definitely the best of the protagonists.
Chosen one gave the plans to Brotherhood who made a copy of them. They have vertibirds in later games.
This sort of neo-tribal societies that were forming after the apocalypse like the one the Chosen One came from were one of the more interesting things about the state of the wasteland to me in the first 2 games. I sort of wish it showed up more in the subsequent games, because it's an aspect of a post apocalyptic society that's potentially really interesting: people having to form completely new traditions, and societies and even beliefs from the blank slate. It's different than many of the factions we tend to deal with like the Brotherhood, the NCR, or even various settlements because they tend to still have a bit of an "echo" of the old world culture to them or at worst, are a twisted parody of it. It's one reason why the Legion in NV, as terrible as they were, were also such an interesting idea of a faction.
So a tribal a deathclaw and a super mutant walk into bar…..you finish the joke lol
Over an hour of Synonymous?!! I need to get some food and water asap
im really enjoying this style of content, i find it more enjoyable to listen to an hour long story or even longer when gameplay is intertwined between lore readings. thanks synonymous
Liked and subbed! This is quality! Thanks for making this
I remember when the Fallout games came out, and you were either a Fallout or Diablo player. Which was odd, as they were really two different genres with some only superficial similarities.
I never got, though, how Arroyo - founded by Vault dwellers - turned into bone-in-the-nose Tribals in literally two generations. Very weird.
Thank you :)

I'm pretty sure the easter egg about the bishop family in nv was supposed to confirm that the chosen one did have a kid just like how the highway man you can find is another reference to the chosen one
Thank you for the long video my dude, it was great!
Just imagine if they made a remake of this game. Loved this episode. Your videos are always so well done and executed. It would be amazing to see what they could do with the inclusion of cars in Fallout 5 or a spin off. You could street race with raiders and customize your car like in mafia 2. What if you could find rare vehicles and fix them up? It would make sense for people of the wasteland to have an extreme interest in cars, because anything pre war is so fascinating to them. This would also give an opportunity to have some really cool greaser factions. 😎 I hope this video does well you deserve it.
Never realized in all my times playing this how much Grandma's blue vase there looks like an enormous bong.
The "chosen one" the charming and intelligent hero who entered the Temple of Trials to prove himself and was promptly and pitifully killed and eaten by an overly large rat.

Amazing video! The wait was well worth it!
I'm surprised about how Dalia was treated in the video hahaha
In my playthrough she was so chill, letting me pass without problems.
You later find her in Vault 13, and you can talk to her again. And she's glad to see you.
I was so sad that she couldn't become a companion. Also, my heart broke when I found that the Enclave killed everyone in the Vault, including her.
