@@donovanulrich348 I call it mystical because there is literal magic. It’s not just tribalism, but actual magic. And people call helicopters birds today. I know the story of the chosen one really well, but this didnt stop me to watch this video too, i really love the stories of the older fallouts, they are trully something special, thanks for this awesome video man
The feel of the old fallouts is so much better than the newer ones. Actually felt like a post apocalyptic world instead of a fan fiction like 4 and 76. Wish they would remake the first two with the same feel but 4s engine.
Hardcore mods for fallout 4 played on survival makes for an incredible post apocalyptic experience imo. Stuff like scourge, true damage, maim, looted world, etc. That with your favorite guns and armor added to level lists really is something. It’s a great base that you can make into what you want.
A real FO1-2 remake should be a turn based strategy game And optional modern engine for possible fps fallout Look fallout 3 was a banger, it sold new vagas 😂 But thats cuz it was the first fps fallout. The appeal and story of 1-2 is paced for a strategy game/interactive movie It would take un godly skill to pull that pacing in a fps and not ruin it with cutscenes and interaction prompts

I absolutely loved this video! I genuinely love all of your videos, they have replaced audiobooks for me. Ha ha. But there is so much info about fallout & fo2 that is so hard to understand or just to experience. It was really cool putting the main protagonist in such a cool light. Unfortunately I had to give up on the first one, after getting addicted to it, right into that damn issue in the glow where I die as soon as I leave. SMH. But seriously, thank you, this video was absolutely awesome, I really appreciate you taking the time to make it.
This also happened to me on my first run. You need 100% resistance to radioactivity in The Glow. When you arrive, immediately boost with Rad-X. It's best never to sleep there or play chess with the supercomputer, because then the effect of the Rad-X wears off. The nasty thing is that in Fallout the radiation sickness only takes effect much later, so if you don't have a savegame before The Glow, you have to start all over again.
This video was excellent. The near end where Dr kershner gave the cure to the chosen one, you had me edge of seat volume up. Slapping my screen with money saying PAY attention son. The structure of the way you explained the Dr's last moments is why I'm saying this; GREAT JOB I'm so glad I've seen every one of your videos. Oxhorn for in depth gameplay and you for the moralistic and narrative of fallout. Thank you so much for making content!

And if the people who left 13 found new rano then stories of how they purged Heven but the knowledge of the past grows harder and harder to understand and process CD's and flashdrives get remembered as "holy disks" cuz they show information from nothing, and its nothing they themselves can create. F3 has this more, but i think its more because of the simplicity of the main quest than any sort of design decision as f4 is the worst at this.
@@duncanmc797 couldn't say not gonna run off and fact check but I believe I read somewhere they got this work around where they make it possible, in all their games, to crush the main quest in under an hour.

Tbh i know this might be a hot take but that's one of the reasons i prefer Fo1, compared to any other of the games it is far darker and has a more consistent tone. Fo2 jumps around tone wise too much and is a bit too jokey. Still a great game though.
@@duncanmc797Fall out 2 is more mystic and strange.
Fallout 1 is pure post apocalypse. But I like the mystic and odd aspects of the fallout universe too.
@@EggEnjoyerseems its not "mystical" you like
Its literally tribalism you like
The religious, spiritual and mystical aspect are forms of tribal human social habits
The things we cant explain but observe need a name, a caveman would never call a phone a phone unless you explained it to them
"Virtabird". "Metal Bird". They are infact made of metal and flying, thats a metal bird 😂 but incorrect
@@donovanulrich348 I call it mystical because there is literal magic. It’s not just tribalism, but actual magic.
And people call helicopters birds today. The people of fallout while post apocalyptic, are still very technologically oriented as they exist in the future. Like it was the future when society fell. They live in a world of technology, even while in ruins, it’s more advanced than anything you and I have witnessed. This is the same world where sentient Ai walk around and lowly scavengers carry laser canons on their backs. They are not technologically illiterate compared to us.
@@EggEnjoyer I grew up with cartridge games, cassette tapes, CD's, VHS. Modern kids cane use 2 out of 4 of those without confusion if they even have the tools to access the data
And if I had a vision or experience with a spirit, and tried to convince you. It would mean nothing, but if your friend or family had the same experience you would possibly care. And likely you would call it a hallucination in our modern world just to fit in
That's tribalism 🤣 human social dynamics fall back on it.
Something that always confused me was "why did the enclave massacre the vault dwellers when it would have been much easier to just tell them they were the US government and that they were being transported to a government facility for further instruction. I mean they literally had all the proof they needed for the vault dwellers to believe them.
Cause the opening scene is totally dope

@a steel folding chair was about to comment the same. Big ups to our fellow Brother in Atom.
oxhorn is pretty good
I miss the era of shoddycast before it changed ownership and became fucking awful
Oh yeah! yaboii is pretty good as well
Everyone is awesome, But Oxhorn's deciphering of Fallout lore is Next Level forreal and he's an original. I would go to him first as the Yardstick of Fallout lore storytelling. I would see him as the next Three Dog cause he sounds like a 50's era Public Service Announcer.
I love it that when her son rescues her from imprisonment on the oil rig the village elder doesn't call him son or dear but "Chosen One".
I never played fallout 2 as I’ve never owned a windows PC… but this video just gave me the most comprehensive synopsis of FO2 I’ve ever seen. Thanks Synonymous!
You're welcome! 😁👍

@@lukecheshire7782HOW?! i have an app but doesn't work
Did I just sit through a full 1 hour video on the chosen one even though I know everything about him.. yes, yes I did. Great content man, very well made👍
That ceramic bong during the first scene is great.
Hey genuinely your work is incredible, I'll watch anything you do. Your perspective and creativity are unique to you and wonderful to see!
I know the story of the chosen one really well, but this didnt stop me to watch this video too, i really love the stories of the older fallouts, they are trully something special, thanks for this awesome video man
Little did the Enclave know the sight of that ship on the horizon carried their impending doom, Fallout 2 was so badass. Great video ❤
The feel of the old fallouts is so much better than the newer ones. Actually felt like a post apocalyptic world instead of a fan fiction like 4 and 76. Wish they would remake the first two with the same feel but 4s engine.
that would be hilarious
Molders are working on Fo1 in Fo4s engine, as well as F4NV and Capital Wasteland
Hardcore mods for fallout 4 played on survival makes for an incredible post apocalyptic experience imo. Stuff like scourge, true damage, maim, looted world, etc. That with your favorite guns and armor added to level lists really is something. It’s a great base that you can make into what you want.
Oh my god yes
A real FO1-2 remake should be a turn based strategy game
And optional modern engine for possible fps fallout
Look fallout 3 was a banger, it sold new vagas 😂
But thats cuz it was the first fps fallout. The appeal and story of 1-2 is paced for a strategy game/interactive movie
It would take un godly skill to pull that pacing in a fps and not ruin it with cutscenes and interaction prompts
When the Valdez boots up for it’s trip, it has to be one of the best cinematics ever.
Yo that old lady has the biggest bong ive ever seen I ain’t know the nuclear apocalypse was chill like that
Dude I fall asleep to your content, I know that may not sound like a compliment but your voice and cadence is perfect for long form documentary type videos. I’m a huge fan and hope you have more long videos like this in the future, you deserve a deal with like discovery or the history channel or something.
😂😂😂😂
Great presentation of the chosen Ones story 👌🏼
The history of the Beast Lords would be an interesting video in my opinion.
You know it’s gonna be a good day when you start it with a synonymous video
My week is complete ❤ Thank you for all the hard work you put into the videos for us
Woo! Thanks for making it an hour long! It makes it easier to watch/listen to when I’m braiding my hair.
I have been saving this specifically for a slow day. Thank you for all the amazing content as always I hope you did not get demonetized because I did not get a single advertisement for the video on my phone and I know you worked extremely hard on this like everything else you create.
The greatest hero with the greatest most memorable companions of all the Fallout games. But sadly largely forgotten and not even known by the Vegas players.
Thank you so much for making content!
i had already known the story of Fallout 2 but you made it worthwhile with your retelling, almost felt like my first time finding out about the first fallout games. awsome video
Newcomer to your subscribers, but lemme just say, I've watched this video three times now ALONE. Your content is fantastic, and has revitalized my love of Fallout. Looking forward to seeing more in the future. ❤

As a console peasant I’ve only played F3, NV and F4, so this was exactly what I’d always wanted. A tremendous effort that seemed perfectly weighted and paced to me. So good that now I find I’m greedy for abdorbing 1, 3, 4 and New Vegas through your style of presentation too.
So in case you ever feel inclined that’d be just fine and super dandy by me and I wholeheartedly encourage you!
I’ll get a gaming pc eventually but rather than remove my need to play Fallout 2 your video has only encouraged me to play it even more👍
Synonymous, you are one of my favorite Fallout lore channels. Along with Nth Apple and Oxhorn, N_orte, Tks Mantis and RadKing.
Also the village elder was voiced by the same actress who played Shadow Weaver in the 80's She-Ra cartoons. I don't quite remember her name.

I wonder how the myth of 'holy' vault 13 came to be as it was the place from where the vault dweller was exiled.
It's likely an allusion to the Garden of Eden from Christian mythology. Adam and Eve were banished from Eden, but it's still seen as a holy place.

Well thanks for *your knowledge of the biblical lore* ♰📖 right here ya...👍😉
😅 its easy to explain
These people are not modern people, they grew up without the local knowledge we have. But they need words to explain what actually happened and what is
Valut 13 probably became known as a form of "Heaven" a haven from the wasteland, and inside holds many life sustaining secrets
The overlord was the one who exiled the vault dweller, seen as "god" or "master" of the vault. And if the people who left 13 found new rano then stories of how they purged Heven but the knowledge of the past grows harder and harder to understand and process
CD's and flashdrives get remembered as "holy disks" cuz they show information from nothing, and its nothing they themselves can create. Its a magic
