    Sir, this is a great video and thank you for taking the time to make it and post. Getting ready to rebuild a 28' and this is exact the details I needed. Will go with pressure treated ground contact plywood vice prepainting the underside of each. They are $58 a piece right now (4/12/2024) compared to $40 untreated. Thanks again man- video is terrific as well as most of the comments that added some nice tips and tricks. Reallly appreciated. UA-cam is the best use of the internet :)

    Can’t thank you enough for taking the time to put this video together. I bought a 10 year old 8 x 14 trailer that had sat in a lot for about 8 years. No water damage, but a worse problem- Rat poop smell on the floor. The trailer as you can imagine was basically given to me so anything I do to repair and upgrade still beats buying a new one. Other than the floor, I’m going to replace the tires, wheels, bearings and have the brakes checked. I would certainly value your opinion on what else I should be on the lookout for on something sitting for so long.
    REALLY HELPFUL VIDEO! Thanks again. Jeff- ATL

      If you're replacing all of that, you're probably pretty good. Throw some new seals around the doors and grease up the hinges while you're at it! Glad it helped!

    Didn't read all.comments but I would dado that E-track into the 3/4" flooring so as to not create a trip strip or high spot in floor. Install it flush with surface. Just my recommendation.

    Using a 15 in 1 to apply upward tension with stripped screws helps a lot. I had that issue and was using a prybar just like you but once I starting using the 15 in 1, got the rest up in 15 minutes.

    I have never realized that underneath the trailer is the floor. For whatever reason I thought there was something else under there to protect the floor. I think if I ever have to rip the floor out of my trailer I'm going to paint the underneath just to be on the safe side.
    I thought you did a pretty good job on the nose of the floor. That's a tough cut to make.

    • @LifeofBliss
      @LifeofBliss  3 роки тому

      Yea you can coat it with a waterproof primer or specialty outdoor paint if you want. I figured it'll never really get wet unless driving in the rain. Plus they store these pressure treated board outside uncovered at menards 😅 trick with that nose piece was tracing the old one then putting it in before the full board that butts up to it. Thanks David!

    Congrats on the new trailer, and the new house man!
    I hope you find something better than silicone to fix the holes in the roof...I think there is some better stuff out there you can find from the RV world? Or at least some polyethylene Caulk? Silicon doesn't hold up well, requires water to work and last so it can cause rust...

    Rookie question…. Did you have to drill holes through the wood and into the frame before screwing the plywood to the frame? Or do the self tapping screws make it through the metal frame on their own? Thanks for any info. About to start the same project!

    • @LifeofBliss

    • @LifeofBliss
      @LifeofBliss  3 роки тому +2

      Thanks man. And not really. They are pressure treated plywood so it can handle the moisture. You can coat them before installing with another waterproofing product though.

    • @watchmanonthewallcouk6498
      @watchmanonthewallcouk6498 2 роки тому +1

      One could coat the underside with FG resin before they’re fitted, also as with all house/home renovation best to start at the top and leak test any repairs before replacing the floor

    • @LifeofBliss

    • @LifeofBliss

      Mine fit in there with about a half inch on either side to spare. I did put larger trim around the bottom to help cover any gaps too (3/4 inch thick instead of 1/8 inch thick)

    What protects the floor from underneath when the ground is wet? Is there some sort of undercoat?

    • @LifeofBliss
      @LifeofBliss  3 роки тому +3

      Its pressure treated plywood, so it has pretty good water resistance. You could always paint the underside with some sort of sealer if you wanted before laying it down. Should see too much water unless driving in the rain as well

    I have a trailer with a couple of boards that need to be replaced, the issue I am having is similar to what you mentioned in the video regarding the self taping screws not coming out all the way, how did you remove them?

    • @LifeofBliss
      @LifeofBliss  3 роки тому

      I either ripped them out with a crow bar or took a sledge hammer and hit them sideways (to break them off) or straight down, then pull them out with a crow bar. That broke the threads holding the screws so it was a bit easier to remove. Either way, it was a pain... good luck!
