I thought the same thing .fasten them on top of the concrete , preferably with stainless bolts , but not in , they are the most crucial for keeping the whole building supported . You can save money on a lot , but that , the least you can do is treat them with carboline , and that is even not enough on the long haul …
Beautifully done ! !st time seeing your video, but really, well done, great craftmanship just flawless, I really appreciate work such as this ( been a carpenter for some 45 yrs ) admire your attention to detail and all the mechanics involved, again, great job !
Flawless? You blind? Carpenter for 45 years? Where - at The School of No Idea? This is cute...but won't last. Reminds me of the cubby-house I built for my kid.
There’s a big difference between the high quality techniques being described and the low quality of the install. None of the wood was pretreated, and much of it looked like dead-fall was being used. There’s going to be water infiltration problems feeding the existing mold. In about ten years he’s going to be kicking himself over the rot in his piers. Should have used sono-tubes and brought the concrete up to at least six inches above ground level. Nothing seems pre-cut either. His fall risk is huge and how close are the nearest responders? Sorry, I’m applying commercial methods to a DYI project, but a little consulting would result in this house still standing in 300 years, not just 30.
I hate to tell you bro but I live in a part of the country where there's a lot of log homes and I've helped build quite a few of them. Not one of those homes is built with pressure treated wood. Hate to tell you any of the logs inside or outside . What he's kind of doing here is what we would refer to as Timber framing. Pretty standard stuff
Exposed and untreated wood will deteriorate in time. Treated and untreated wood in the ground will deteriorate much faster than untreated exposed wood above ground. Moisture and freezing conditions will further damage wood in the ground above the freeze line, especially at and near the surface of the ground. The structural support of this or any house or building constructed in this manner will eventually and sooner than "hoped for" will cause it to be declared unsafe for occupation. Too bad because the structure above ground is beautiful. The foundation is a DIY mistake. I hope this person learns from this information for any future projects should he pursue them because I would like to see more of his workmanship.
You know, you could generate as much or more electricity utilizing the heat that is wasted out of the chimney of the fireplace.... you could also build next to a stream. It would only need to be a small stream to produce as much or more than the wind generator and it would be more consistent. Just saying for those that want to be environmentally friendly, you should choose environmentally friendly options.
В штатах так постоянно делают. У меня есть подозрение, что это какой-нибудь кедр или лиственница, которая от контакта с водой становится только крепче. Другого объяснения дерева+бетон в земле - не вижу

Just for those comments mentioning insulation, an sealed air gap is actually pretty good. And i think he was going for something a bit oldschool, a lot of cabins (in this case a whole house) are just wooden logs, and rely on a fireplace on cold nights, which he has.
You win "Clueless Comment of the Year". A "sealed air gap" you say? LOL.
Beautiful. Amazing. Creative. Thanks for letting us share your build. It's extraordinary. 💙
Complete and total fake. Building a stupid house is easy. The view he screwed up is not easy to replace. Any idiot can tear down and build a damn house. Gonna have septic tanks and nasty all over the place.
"Proper insulation is important." No insulation to be found....
Какой толк от такой печи, если дом не утеплен. Обогревать улицу, да дрова сжигать кузовами.
Скорее всего просто навороченная беседка!

I'd be terrified of a possible landslide. This was a monumental task; most people couldn't even dream of doing something like this. Beautiful work !

Posts into concrete doesn't seem like 'proper moisture control to prevent rot'
If you use the right poisons on the post, it could last 10-15 years. Oops...
I thought the same thing .fasten them on top of the concrete , preferably with stainless bolts , but not in , they are the most crucial for keeping the whole building supported . You can save money on a lot , but that , the least you can do is treat them with carboline , and that is even not enough on the long haul …
That sunset topped it off perfectly.
Very impressive !! The power of one single man. Congrats
@@terracub my point was the difference between what was described and what was going on.
@stevehollenbach4313 Absolutely agree with you. There's nothing more to say...

This man does amazing work. You should see his other builds.
I have been in the trades my entire life.
waouh !!!!
Clapping my hands a million times ...Your wooden house is gorgeous and your skill and craftmanship make me goose bumps ....!!!
Wind turbines power is intermittent, and at best produces very little power. Their life span is also quite short.

The project turned out beautifully! Can’t wait to try this myself. Thanks for the clear instructions!
Absolutely amazing what a talent. A true artist at work.
But you didn't add any insulation?
Столько труда лишнего) я так понял, каркасник - пустотелый?
