Pro tip from somebody who owns a 2019 insight and knows way too much about the IMMD hybrid system: in order to get the most out of sport, you need to drive it around for a little while. This is because, in sport mode, the car will change it's targeted battery charge level to a higher state. This results in a more immediate torque delivery once the battery is at its higher state of charge! I actually use sport mode in my Insight a lot on road trips, not only for passing power, but it actually reduces engine drone when going up hills or passing other people. Drone might not be as much of an issue on this car given that the engine's a 2 l instead of a 1.5 l, but now you know!
Yeah, I drive a 2019 insight too and hate the screaming noise it gives when flooring it on regular mode just for it to barely start moving. But I didn’t know that putting it to sport mode would allow the battery to charge more and gain more torque, thanks for letting me know.
@@abdulgill5013 I own a 2020 Insight EX. You will immediately notice the difference. Sports mode changes the throttle sensitivity and responds way quicker than in normal mode. I always use it during merging on highways. And as mentioned before, be sure to wait and let the battery charge first.
Good tips there. The nuances between Toyota and Honda is the power delivery, where Toyota would rather fire up its gas engine to meet power needs, leading to mechanical shifting and droning because it the HV battery is mostly there for low-end torque needs to achieve its efficiency. Would you know if your battery health is measurable on the Insight? If setting higher SoC leads to shorter battery life span before a replacement is needed, then maybe it's not a good idea to leverage sport mode so much for Honda.

13:32 quick note about the regen braking, i'm sure it works the same as the crv/accord since there's no B gear. In the crv, you can have constant regen in B gear, while in the accord there is no B gear but you can hold down the increase regen paddle and it will hold the level of regen you select until you switch gears or turn off the car
This 11th gen civic interior especially with the long continuous vent stretching door to door is going to go down as one of the all time greats, I tell you
I don't get why every reviewer praises it so much. It's not a continuous vent. It's just a plastic mesh cover. It looks ok to me, certainly nothing to write home about.
Nice look at the 2025 Civic. I recently sold my 2022 sport touring. Two weeks ago. I was waiting to see this car B4 picking a hybrid. The lack of lumbar support makes the car a little uncomfortable on longer drives, for me anyway. I will miss the amazing handling and that Bose sound system. I hope everyone who picks one up thoroughly enjoys it. It was the best compact car I ever owned in my 60+ years.
In the midsize blue collar class. The Accord was a little to expensive especially with the dealer add-ons. I owned a Hyundai once a very long time ago. Never again. I found a newly acquired Toyota dealer that was wheeling and dealing over memorial Day weekend. So I got the new Camry.
@@Offensively-normalyou said hyundai long time ago. They’ve improved a lot since then. Maybe not as reliable as a Toyota but they’re way better than before
What I love about this and the Toyota system is that they address the weak link in reliability with the lack of a traditional transmission. The more electronic everything is, and less mechanical, the more reliable things will be. I need the size of an accord or Camry but these are very nice cars
Hmm...I'm not sold on this yet. Electronics sounds nice until your battery is dead, and you can't disengage the electronic brakes and gears and thereby more reliant on the powers that are, to get your out of a sticky situation. Several years ago we had a 2014 Accord Hybrid Touring that we really liked in most ways. Decent power, great fuel economy, comfortable and quiet ride and enough space for a road trip (trunk space wasn't huge though). Biggest gripe was the droning of the "It isn't a CVT" transmission and engine that seemed to just rev at random times and made it feel like a CVT with a mind of its own. We kept if a few years and sold it because I wanted something with more power (replaced with a 2018 Infiniti Q50RS that I initially really liked but the honeymoon wore off quickly, sold that in 2022 for a '22 Tesla M3P that the wife and I both love), but I have actually missed it on occasion, it was that nice to be in. I have my gripes with Honda (cheap rubber compounds that disintegrate in the sun, paper thin sheet metal, rust, etc) but I get why people love them. They drive superbly and excel at being a fun to drive companion for errands, road trips, etc. This new Civic addresses the biggest issue by giving the "it's not a CVT" transmission programmed steps to mimic a regular auto, and the added power enhances the experience. It seems to be right in the sweet spot. Just beware that if you leave it outside, you can expect all the rubber bits to crack and turn into goo, and you'll have door dings every time someone breathes too hard on it.

I like that Honda has made an effort to improve sound deadening of the Civic Hybrids. And whatever they did to change the "Lunar Silver" to "Solar Silver," I certainly like it: looking at the side view, it really shows off the body's gentle curves and creases.
Glad to see that Honda has most likely actually improved the sound deadening, at least in the upper end model....Honda's are notorious for road noise (coming from someone who has owned over 10 of them). The only real question I have is whether or not the 'simulated shifts' are evident when in either Normal or Eco modes. But the camry is more practical for the price.
try to buy a Camry, haha....just came to the local Toyota dealership and no new cars.....all they do is resell used cars....as they sell new to existing owners if they sell them back used...Toyota has become an elit club nowadays...
Don't tell me in sport mode they are piping thru fake engine noise into the cabin speakers? Is that true as you mentioned? Not buying a car with fake noise piped thru speakers. I'm skeptical on how quiet it is. My 2014 Accord Coupe is loud on roads. Honda is notorious for not using sound dampening and dynamat style noise reduction. They refuse to add enough dampening to be quiet. I'll have to test drive but I'm waiting for the hatchback. Quietest car I've test drove is the new highland tesla 3 which also has a better audio system.
What is annoying about every manufacturer's Fwd Assist features, is that if you turn them off you can't use cruise control. Adaptive Cruise Control will only inevitably cost you more in the brakes - so, if you can muster it, don't use it.
Thank you for this review. I like the look of this vehicle and, finally, Honda seems to have put some extra effort into things like noise reduction (via the sound system). I don't like the fake noise (it would be the first thing I would try to squelch, if I bought the vehicle). WRT the regenerative braking control, I agree with you; the system should not simply cancel itself whenever one engages the brake pedal. Finally, WRT the 2.0 litre naturally aspirated engine installed in this car, it has been used for the past two years in Civics sold in Europe (and also the Accord). The lower weight of the Civic really makes this shine.
The Clarity PHEV is just that (although a bizarre mix of aluminum body panels, 8th Gen Civic parts bin trim, and the bespoke rear suspension designed to fit around a giant H2 tank). It’s a real shame Honda is so anti-EV and refuses to give us the good stuff.
Thanks for that interesting video. What about the seats ? Comfortable ? I had a 2016 Civic and it was horrible. Hard as rock. I sold it for that reason. Thanks
Nice drive. Glad to see that Honda has reduced the interior noise. I don't understand why so many different brands refuse to add rear console mounted air ducts on models that cost over 30k... The cost must be substantial...
I have the UK version of this car and you can set regeneration constantly, but only in sport mode and individual. I guess it's the same in the US model.
Don’t be fooled by Honda’s claimed power figure. It’s a theoretical combination of ICE + EM, but in reality the engine can only lend it’s max power directly the wheels at top speed (because it can only ever drive the wheels at 1:1). In reality it’s 181hp, but that’s 181 ELECTRIC hp, so it responds to accelerator inputs immediately (and doesn’t lose time shifting) punching well above its rating at real world legal driving speeds.

The Type-R-esque front bumper looks great!
they need to put it on the SI it would look so cool!
Awesome package, if it was a plug in hybrid i wouldn’t change a thing and definitely buy it
The Clarity PHEV is just that (although a bizarre mix of aluminum body panels, 8th Gen Civic parts bin trim, and the bespoke rear suspension designed to fit around a giant H2 tank). It’s a real shame Honda is so anti-EV and refuses to give us the good stuff.
@@EUC-lid ugh I really want to like the clarity, think it’s an amazing package but I don’t think I can get past the styling
@@EUC-lid isn't it belong to human (real ones) to be anti-evs?
Thanks for that interesting video. What about the seats ? Comfortable ? I had a 2016 Civic and it was horrible. Hard as rock. I sold it for that reason. Thanks
Honda needs to bring back the Fit and throw a hybrid in it!!!!
Only you
@@bledzone231 what's that, bot?
@@bledzone231 Fit is one of the best cars they've made and had they figured out a way to make it a sporty hybrid, they would have been killing it.
Only you. It has no market, so no
@@DaKurupt19 false, tons of people still drive Fits I see them everywhere
Nice drive. Glad to see that Honda has reduced the interior noise. I don't understand why so many different brands refuse to add rear console mounted air ducts on models that cost over 30k... The cost must be substantial...
This is ny dream car at the moment 🤩
Funny that the civic hybrid is now the same price as a Camry hybrid.
What speed can these cars go up to while driving during its on battery/ev mode
Best interiors ❤ love it.
It definitely looks quick, I just hope the chassis can handle all that power without feeling unstable.
8:18 what phone do you have because it fit really tight there
Will they refresh the SI as well with more power?
Base hybrid in Canada comes with heated steering.
Does it feel torquier than Camry Hybrid? Since Toyota won't reveal its torque output, I need something to reference to.
Probably the best car for the money ever made.
So, i was ready to get one, sport version, and in last minutes noticed driver seat is ‘manual’ 😂…seriously. Got out very fast
Hopefully the fake noise pipe through the speaker can be unplugged like in the type-r.
I have the UK version of this car and you can set regeneration constantly, but only in sport mode and individual. I guess it's the same in the US model.
Okay so now I know what car I’m buying
Very nice. Do you think this is quicker than the Si? I’m assuming the Si’s suspension is sportier than the hybrid’s.
You have to set up the Regen braking each stop???
This has more torque and the same horsepower as the 2024 civic si. The 2025 civic si better get a bump up in power 🤞
Don’t be fooled by Honda’s claimed power figure. It’s a theoretical combination of ICE + EM, but in reality the engine can only lend it’s max power directly the wheels at top speed (because it can only ever drive the wheels at 1:1). In reality it’s 181hp, but that’s 181 ELECTRIC hp, so it responds to accelerator inputs immediately (and doesn’t lose time shifting) punching well above its rating at real world legal driving speeds.
what's missing is a panoramic roof civic sport touring hybride turbo 200ch the air conditioning in the passenger and driver seats very nice really would be hot
PS * your commentary is very good 👍🏽
