I think you couldn't be more wrong. They completely eliminated the difference between the hatchback and the sedan. They no longer are those dependable and affordable vehicles for, wait for it, regular civilians that drive within the civic boundaries, hence the name Civic. It has now become a bloated luxury sedan with cheap plastic interior and that stupid tablet thing in the center console.
Nobody wants an EV to sit for hours to charge a car - not everyone has a house. This is the best compromise - Hybrid, good mpg and fun to drive. Very exciting. Between this new 2025 Civic and the new 2025 Camry.
I think it also helps the net fuel economy increase while spreading batteries among many vehicles instead of hoarding them into individual EV. Not to mention keeping weight down! It just makes sense.
I was also looking at the Camry. But I think the Honda takes the win. The interior simply looks alot more refined and high quality. Of all the places I gotta sit and spend my time. The Honda cabin looks for superior. The Toyota cabin looks 6 years dated already in my opinion.

Lane assist is also annoying, especially in Europe where we have quite a few bike lines, it sometimes pushes you back into the middle of the road if you straddle onto one (some of our smaller two way streets only allow for 2 cars to pass if they go into the bike lanes)... so a couple of times it was a little dangerous. Just picked up a new Touring Hybrid. I have had several 11th Gen Civics, including Si and Type-R. For daily driving and going on a trip, hybrid is my favorite. The speed is deceptive because it is so smooth. As you explain, there is no penalty for driving a Hybrid. The Bose stereo sounds better on the highway compared to Si/CTR since the interior is isolated from road noise so much better.
In Canada we got rear USB's, heated steering on most trims and the Touring/Si always got rear heated seats. Heated seats standard on all trims since 2016. Nice you were in my hometown of Longueuil, that was the 132 at around 8:00 mark.
5:49 Those tiny sunglass holders are meant to show up on the spec sheet as having a sunglass holder. The same used to apply to cupholders: the Opel Corsa C I got to drive for quite a while had a rear cupholder so shallow that water bottles fell after, like, two turns.
Love the design of those wheels. Surprised how fast it seems they mid-cycle refreshed this generation because the one previous to this looked almost perfect to me.

The last new car I bought was a 1991 Alfa Romeo 164S and it's getting hard to find parts for it. So I've been searching for a new car, looked at the new Alfa Giulia, but none of them sparked my interest until I saw this thing. So I went down and put my name on the list. I just turned 70, it's probably the last new car I'll buy and glad to dip my toes into the future.
Every reviewer I watch were in town I see! Looks fantastic. My only gripe is going to be dealer markup. 2024 Civic sport touring, non-hybrid, are going for 42k canadian in Montreal right now, while the Accord Touring Hybrid brand new sits in dealer lots around 45k-47k cad. That's where the civic sort of stops making sense, unless you really want a smaller car.
My 19 insight got totaled May 1st. I was planning on either getting the new hybrid or Prius. Sadly both couldn’t happen. Ended up picking up a ‘24 Accord hybrid EX-L with 1500 miles for as much as the new sport hybrid civic. This review reiterates what a good decision I made
I've got the Civic FL4 e:hev in Europe and it's an excellent car. More than enough grunt when you need to overtake, but super efficient when you're relaxed driving. I've covered 45000mi since I bought it brand new 1yr9mo ago.
This was extremely helpful thank you!! I am planning to buy this vehicle in the exact trim and color (Blue Lagoon) Except I am getting my interior in all black. I put this video in my bookmarks folder great job Cheers!
I got my Touring Hybrid in the Blue Lagoon Pearl and black last week. It is stunning to look at and the performance speaks for itself. You wont be disappointed.
The one thing I would ask for in cars designed for city driving is power folding mirrors, I’ve never understood why here in the U.S. we don’t get them as options on so many cars.
I'm so jelly of this new Civic's infotainment system and refined design - Honda is really outdoing themselves with these new Civics. By far my favorite platform as an owner of a 2022 EX-L
The only thing we will not know about this 2025 Civic Hybrid (until at least five years) is reliability, cost of ownership, and longevity. My 2018 10th gen Civic EXT (bought new) is still going strong after 204,100 miles. I’m averaging 37 mpg (combined). The only major issues were from the recalls…AC system and fuel pump. No oil dilution issues for me that seem more prevalent with the CRV’s using the same power plant (1.5 liter, turbo) in colder climate regions like Canada. Of course, I am far more obsessive about car care than the average owner so I’m guessing that’s why my Civic is lasting as long without major failures.
This hybrid drivetrain was and still is the only option in the UK when the 11th gen was released. And it’s hatchback only here too. It’s so unfortunate we don’t get the Si in the UK, it’s only one model.
civic is fantastic car but still missing few very critical deal-breakers such as: no awd option. no pano-roof option. no-360-cam option. no plug-in with extra-large battery option.
I’ll take it point by point. 1) in my particular case I don’t need AWD because I live in Southern California. But I’m sure it would add weight and be another component I would need to shell out significant money for if it breaks. 2) pano roof. I have one on my 2023 Camry V6. I have heard of pricing nightmares, if something happens to it after warranty and it breaks or gets stuck. Upwards of close to $10,000. My next car won’t have a pano roof 3) I agree with you on the 360 camera option. But it’s not a dealbreaker for me. 4) A plug-in with extra large battery is not necessary. For what? A 50 mile range all electric? It sounds like a complete EV is what you’re leaning more towards. Also, there’s Toyota Prius prime if you really are craving a plug-in option. This seems like an unnecessary critique
Just bought a 2024 Mazda 3 and somehow the Civic Hybrid went under my radar while I was shopping around. the Mazda is still an amazing car, but I have a tiny bit of regret lol.
The add-ons for this vehicle is different than you get in Japan you have all of the add-ons in Japan's top trim with rear AC USB type c adapters but the US did not get those models you will have to order it online have it shipped over to have those things.
Best car in its segment, for sure. Corolla hybrid is nice too, but a step below. I have a Corolla TS 2.0L (hybrid). If they made a Civic wagon (or basically the Civic Hatchback with a slightly straighter, more extended roof line), that would be the ultimate daily.
The “small battery” gives me a little pause. The original civic hybrid from 2008 also functioned like this at launch. The battery would deplete and refill during regular driving, it got great gas mileage while doing that. Shortly after it was released they recalled them for early battery failure then they pushed an update which seemed to decrease battery utilization and also decreased fuel economy noticeably. I’m worried they might do the same thing again…
I think you should be OK. In Europe and the other markets we have had this car since the 11th Gen launch, and there have been no problems. Mine is 12 months old now and I love driving it. I tried the new cars from Audi, Mini, BMW, etc, and none of them compare to this car. I always hand the keys over and I am glad to get back into my civic.
well, yeah. But this doesn't have a transmission; just a gear reducer seat for the electric motor. The gas engine is assembled in-line with the generator motor, and connects to the driving wheels via clutchpack. There's no traditional transmission in there, so no hope of a manual in the hybrid, like older Honda systems.
It’s amazing that Ford and GM have totally given up on providing reliable, affordable and efficient transportation for consumers in N America. Hope Honda sells millions of these.
Finally got around to watching this review strictly for the comparison to the type r. I'm this close on moving up from the civic sport to an Integra type s because I miss a fun manual driver's car but this hybrid pulls on my old man cords with the refinement and mpgs people are reviewing positively about. What do you think Ted, type S or Hybrid and save some money...
I think I like this a bit more than the Si if I wanted to save gas and want an "auto" so the wife can drive it (she refuses to keep at manual, she cant get off the line without stalling it lol) 50mpg, lots of room, comfy, the best honda interior to date.... great acceleration, doesnt need 93 like the Si and DE4 would...
I bought a used 2019 Civic LX and I love driving the thing! I'm curious to see how well the hybrid holds up after many years and many many miles on the road.
200HP and 50MPG is insane. Honda is amazing
I just got one and I can confirm that it gets 50mpg
thats awesome. Got a 24 elantra non hybrid that gets 44 to 49 mpg for 21k MSRP. only 147 hp though.

@@savedfaves it’s an amazing car. For 38K
@@Dre2011 Then don't buy the top trim with all the bells and whistles for $32K. Buy a brand new dependable Civic base model at $24K...
@@tjmccracken6500the civic name meant affordable, dependable & modest. It was a high schoolers dream car to tune and throw a muffler on the back. It’s a rice burner. It’s a an everyday persons back and forth to work car.
This is not a Civic.
@@Dre2011 This is a civic. It's only $24k to start. I don't know what year you think it is. A BRAND NEW, FULL-SIZE sedan with upwards of 50 mpg, AND high reliability for $24k ($28k for hybrid) is a frugal person's DREAM.
Imagine bringing these US spec civics to Canadian soil and not having all those options!!
White seats with a black headliner looks so, so much better than white headliners and piano black everywhere!
Very excited for this!
Crazy that entry level and "cheap" is $30K now
Not really. He is showing the touring trim, that's why it's more expensive. The base trim is probably around $24k.
@@alifahmed9309 even then it's never just 24k. With delivery fee it's 25-26k before it even gets into the dealer's hands. From there on you're dancing on the dealer's tunes...I won't be surprised if they have mark-ups
I mean i bought a 2024 for 42k cad and im 22 lol ig its entry
@@Okeen12 wow that's pricey and how did you afford it? Which model?
I’ll be going for the hatchback.
Bought one Saturday in meteorite gray it's my first time purchasing a new vehicle and I'm in love with it.
This looks like a very nice car. I will be considering purchasing one. I'm excited for it!
My 19 insight got totaled May 1st. I was planning on either getting the new hybrid or Prius. Sadly both couldn’t happen. Ended up picking up a ‘24 Accord hybrid EX-L with 1500 miles for as much as the new sport hybrid civic. This review reiterates what a good decision I made
I totaled my 2017 accord in may too, debating between this hybrid or just a 2024 civic base
Accord hybrid is like a budget Lexus ES
driving in Mtl during F1 weekend, god bless your patience
I had to pee the entire drive 😂
I've got the Civic FL4 e:hev in Europe and it's an excellent car. More than enough grunt when you need to overtake, but super efficient when you're relaxed driving. I've covered 45000mi since I bought it brand new 1yr9mo ago.
I've had my euro Civic e:HEV (Hybrid) for a little over a month now and I absolutely love it. Hope it does well in America.
Do you really get the “50” mpg?
@@jalend3609 My worst tank is 40 MPG. The current tank is looking to be 49 MPG.
That's not rain, that's Montreal's way of saying "Welcome, stay here long enough and I will make you wish that you lived in a desert!" 🤣
yea Tedwardino, surprised at how close-ish Montreal is (even from the DMV area). Definitely drivable in a day's work (especially for you)
The old Assent was converted with a tuned GSR motor and they were pulling 9-10 seconds with the help of the electric motors and light weight
Good luck with repairs! After 2 honda civic hybrids, It’s been a NIGHTMARE!
What repair problems have you had with the civic hybrid?
This is about to sell even more!!
What a ride ..
Best ever civic..
No it's not the best, it has its problems, just like all generations before. And it's not faster than the previous 1.5 turbo.
Finally the civic isn't ugly anymore. Please take my money.
Honda is doing great things w these new sedans
The only thing we will not know about this 2025 Civic Hybrid (until at least five years) is reliability, cost of ownership, and longevity.
My 2018 10th gen Civic EXT (bought new) is still going strong after 204,100 miles. I’m averaging 37 mpg (combined). The only major issues were from the recalls…AC system and fuel pump. No oil dilution issues for me that seem more prevalent with the CRV’s using the same power plant (1.5 liter, turbo) in colder climate regions like Canada.
Of course, I am far more obsessive about car care than the average owner so I’m guessing that’s why my Civic is lasting as long without major failures.
if they offer this in a hatchback (I'd buy one in a heartbeat) it will be a Prius-killer in sales.
There’s a hatchback coming
Seems like finally, finally, finally they got this right. Gonna be all about the 2025.
I lived in Montreal for a few years, now I recognize the roads :D
You speak so well
Nice to hear that Honda is offering this hybrid system in the hatchback too.
Montreal looks lovely. Great car by the way…
This hybrid drivetrain was and still is the only option in the UK when the 11th gen was released. And it’s hatchback only here too. It’s so unfortunate we don’t get the Si in the UK, it’s only one model.
no type r?
@@Pharium Yes sorry type R as well, my mind was just thinking about regular models.
The new Honda Civic is being noticed in Japan.
civic is fantastic car but still missing few very critical deal-breakers such as: no awd option. no pano-roof option. no-360-cam option. no plug-in with extra-large battery option.
My next car won’t have a pano roof
3) I agree with you on the 360 camera option.
16:14 100% I need to know if my brake lights are on. That should be standard communication from any car to the driver!
Haven’t driven a civic since my em2. This looks 👍🏿
I want one so bad. Hopefully they make enough to where there isn’t a year long wait.
I just test drove this and I agree with everything you say. I'm waiting for hatch back.
Ok what’s the love affairs w a hatch..not making fun..yes there is a hatch now
Great review and nice to meet you in Montreal!
Likewise!!
Wow, that looks like it would be a really pretty color in person. Not something I would pick based on paint splotches, but looks great on the car.
There's also an Individual mode setting in the Sport Touring Hybrid.
Wind noise is Hideos on Civics x gen and forward
Just bought a 2024 Mazda 3 and somehow the Civic Hybrid went under my radar while I was shopping around. the Mazda is still an amazing car, but I have a tiny bit of regret lol.
These things will sell out quickly and dealerships will mark it up heavily just like the new Prius
Love the new look! This would be a perfect first car for me.
This is a far cry from the '05 civic hybrid I had. If I ever buy a brand new car to daily it might be one of these
The add-ons for this vehicle is different than you get in Japan you have all of the add-ons in Japan's top trim with rear AC USB type c adapters but the US did not get those models you will have to order it online have it shipped over to have those things.
Let’s go Montreal !!
This over the new Prius all day long. Great daily driver!
Can’t wait for you to do a review on the 2026 honda prelude once you get a hold of it
You were in Montreal? My home 🌸 I hope you enjoyed your stay
This looks like a great vehicle, especially for the price
I feel like a lot of Montrealer watch good quality automotive content.
I had a 2005 Civic hybrid and it needed that update I think the 2005 was the same generation as the 2008....
give it a few months, then make the choice. looks pretty awesome
It would be unlikely since crv and accord hybrids have been out for a while and use the same powertrain
I'll definitely buy the hatchback version
Fun seeing you drive near my area and my city
Its beautiful!
@@TedwardDrives except the roads
This hybrid engine with a 6-speed manual as an option would be lovely.
hybrids doesn’t go well with manuals.
Hybrid + 6 speed doesn’t make sense, electric motor is directly connected to the drivetrain.
@@RelearnMathI think you forgot about the CR-Z…
@@hakujona I'm curious as why you think that? the only downside i can think of is the small drop in MPGs, but that's about it.
Hope Honda sells millions of these.
just started watching your videos and had to drop a sub! quality is amazing I needed to take some notes lmao
Montreal mentionned LETS GOOOOOOO
Finally got around to watching this review strictly for the comparison to the type r. I'm this close on moving up from the civic sport to an Integra type s because I miss a fun manual driver's car but this hybrid pulls on my old man cords with the refinement and mpgs people are reviewing positively about. What do you think Ted, type S or Hybrid and save some money...
Imagine if they made hybrid type r 😢
Why in the hell
More weight.. why?
They probably would if the plan is to phase out straight gas powered vehicles
@@antonygonzalez2762is not a bad idea
People would be mad because it’s not a “traditional” type R
I think I like this a bit more than the Si if I wanted to save gas and want an "auto" so the wife can drive it (she refuses to keep at manual, she cant get off the line without stalling it lol)
50mpg, lots of room, comfy, the best honda interior to date.... great acceleration, doesnt need 93 like the Si and DE4 would...
What a great car!
Goldilocks vehicle!
I bought a used 2019 Civic LX and I love driving the thing! I'm curious to see how well the hybrid holds up after many years and many many miles on the road.
