Another useful video. I have already bought my new registration number, the document arrived about two days ago. However I was wondering where to buy plates, and how on earth I change them given my T6 already has those plastic holders. I had not thought of changing them while I was doing it. looks like another spend on the van coming up.

Hi there, silly question, I’m new to this, want to buy a plate for my daughter, seen one on DVLA which is perfect. She lives at different address to me, just wanted to ask, I just made an account for DVLA in My name, have put her down ass NOMINEE as plate is for her, is there anything else I need to do? As it doesnt give me options and the Plate is for her not me so I dont want complications if that makes sense when transferring it, as its for her Birthday later in the year, is that ok? Do I make sense? Thank you fir any help x

Nope, as soon as you’ve done the online switch you’re good to go, just obviously need to make the change with your insurance before you’re legal 👍🏼

Yep, number plates are all (mostly) the same dimensions so fit fine, nice and snug! 👍🏼
@@GDUBTV Cheers for that 👍 I read that acrylic plates are thicker so won't fit into the surrounds but you've proved that they do! 😎

When u change the number plate to the car and then u do the logbook change will it cost money to change and for the new logbook to come
Usually the transfer fee (usually about £80) is included when you first buy the plate, but if you swapped it to another vehicle a second time you’d have to pay that again extra

Does the tax and mot update itself I’ve just brought one payed the fees for them to do all the tranfers and stuff just wondering
The same MOT is valid. I’m pretty sure the tax is as well. Sorry to not be more definitive, been a while since I did the swap, but can’t remember having to do either to get them changed
When doing the swap over is there a charge or is that included in the initial payment ?

And how can i get a reg if it doesnt come up on dvla personalised plate site, and also doesnt come up on gov.uk when you search for it?
1) It's not the right format
2) It's never been issued
3) It's been sold but the buyer has not yet put it on a vehicle.
Is it possible to check the number plate previous history. e.g the previous owner or how much it was last sold for .

Once I had bought the plate it arrived within a week
Question - Once you have the private plate..do you pay the 2x£80 to put on and off the car?? or is it you pay £80 once to place onto the retention document? then no fee to transfer to your car 🙈...great vid by the way..very informative 👍

@@mlee6050 yeah, it's because 3D plates are like the flat 2D ones, but they have shading which makes the letters look 3D, but they're really just shaded 2D. Wonder what 5D plates will look like!!! 🤣🤣🤣👊🏼😎
Seems like just yesterday that everybody wanted the new flush wipe clean ones instead of the bog standard issue raised digit ones ---

Nice clean fresh looking 4D plates with decent quality sticky pads keeps the van looking clean and fresh. Each to their own though 👍🏼
