In the US you just request any word (with in reason) between 6-8 letters depending on the state and if its not taken you just pay like 250 bucks and your registration is a like 50 dollars more per year. Id take that over this auction any day.
In the uk, number plates have to be a specific format of numbers and letters, but once you have it it’s yours and you don’t have to pay anything every year
danny sulyma the UK has one advantage in this regard, only police are able to pull up records from a plate, so even if you're the one that buys it, it doesn't mean you're the one who is going to use it
Justin Noker you can pull up car details on the government website. You can check a car if its taxed, MOT’d and insured. It also comes up when the car was registered, what colour and make the car is etc
How about a fifth gear episode where they all porch spot cars in the dark and predict the car. Taillights mostly. Headlights too. That would be a good ten minutes.
I HRH to a Rolls or Bentley - how vulgar is that? I'd put I HRH on a discreetly souped up Morris Minor or Ford Anglia with a rusty body just for the heck of it.
pukeylukey199 I'm not exactly sure how it works for Europe or other states, but at least where I live you can get anything not offensive that's not already claimed for $60
2:29 "It's not a spectator sport, is it?" Oh, Jonny. 😂🤣😂
I wish i could go back to 1998, year i was born and buy every good plate in sight.
this was in 2008 tho
1 HRH is on a 2007 Bentley at present
Just looked on Gov tax checker and 1 HRH currently not in use.
Why would you pay all that money for a plate then scrap the car
@@lucasbarton1773 Most likely was never put onto a car, or is currently not on any car.
It's on a 2007 Bentley at the moment .

That's a lot of money to make it easy for witnesses to recall your plate number, drive safe.

You can't find the owners name or address, that is only with the DVLA.

Justin Noker Ya it’s a good deal. And it’s only a one time fee.
wow, ain't that nice, here it costs a little extra to keep it every time you renew your registration. nothing too bad, I think it was only $20 or so.
In Australia the cheapest "vanity plates" or personalized plates as they are known here start at $500 AUD
anyone here feels like that this was once a top gear number plate stating "I Hate Richard Hammond"?

pukeylukey199 I'm not exactly sure how it works for Europe or other states, but at least where I live you can get anything not offensive that's not already claimed for $60
pukeylukey199 ah, here if it goes unused you just have to be the first to snatch it back up at that $60 price
If I want MI11WRD that’s no problem. But some are so sought after they go for thousands
All license plates in the UK have to be a certain format.
