I was diagnosed pre diabetic in 2021. I cut my carbs to no more than 50g a day and two meals a day. My A1C returned to normal. I started eating small portions of fruit again mixed with cottage cheese and greek yogurt full fat. I miss my bananas; I used to eat three on most days. I eat only half of one or a small medium ripe no more than twice a week. My glucose #s do not spike anymore. I make sure my first meal is mostly protein and fat (good). I do not eat oats anymore (regardless of kind) because it does spike me more than I can tolerate it. The fruits that I am eating more are berries those do not have a major effect in my BG. Thanks for the advice
I’m not a diabetic but this is great information. My glucose was 99 (pushing it) so after weight loss, it’s now 86! I love fruits but I steer clear of the higher sugar ones like bananas to guard my glucose intake! Thanks for the tips… I will implement them! I miss my bananas! 😊

I do have stage 2 non alcoholic fatty liver disease and high blood pressure as well. Knowing this, can I still follow your advice and tips about fruit? God bless you and thank you so much❤
Your priority should be to burn that fat off your liver in the first place and you will see your hypertension improve. You can still have fruits but keep your consumption low until you burn off that liver fat. Your diet should be loaded with legumes and veggies and add some fasting plus exercise and you'll rid the fat off your liver

Weldon Dr Joe you are indeed helping a lot of people for being selfless thank you. Please I have a question, can diabetic trigger stroke and what measure can be use to control stroke which had cause a damage impact already?? Thanks.
Yes, stroke can be a complication of diabetes. Even more so if the person has high blood pressure too especially if those two conditions are poorly managed
Thank you Dr Joe . I will like to suggest if it’s possible to publish the summary of the type of fruits or foods that you were talking about in this video please . May God bless you

Hi Dr. Joe, I have not seen you in a while. I know this is an old video. I hope all is well with you. I learned so much from your show. I will be looking forward to seeing new content from my favorite Doctor from the United Kingdom. Be Blessed, friend from the United States of America.
Nice to hear from you again, Carol. I haven't gone anywhere though. My videos are published every Saturday at 11am Eastern without fail (so far for the last 5 years). All being well, that trend will continue. Anyway, try and make it a habit (as you probably did before) to watch all new videos because when you skip them UA-cam assumes you are no longer interested and stops notifying you. That's what happens to my subscribers unfortunately. I did complain to UA-cam but they don't listen. So consistency is what keeps you in the loop and also ensure your UA-cam notifications are turned on for this channel please. And a nice welcome back to the fold for you.
You are a great Doctor in the management of diabetes. Question: What do you think of bitter leaves and bitter kola in the management of diabetes? Thanks, Dr WAN
Actually I have heard about bitter leaf being good at reducing blood sugar levels. I am yet to test it to confirm it as I don't live in Nigeria and don't have access to the fresh leaves. I am inclined to believe it but I would imagine it will be best not strain it as we tend to do because the active ingredients will be in the juice. Bitter Kola I only heard about a couple of days ago, so can't comment on that one. This is where research is needed for specific African plants. Maybe I set up a Foundation to do something along these lines when I retire
You are the best in what you do. Discovered your videos late and have been trying to catch up. It's been very beneficial all the way. May God continue to bless you and continue to increase you in wisdom for all these tips. Thank sir. 🙏
Avoid foods cooked in vegetable oils. And if you live in the United States all grains, especially wheat. Diabetes was a rare disease at the start of the 20 Century.
If you are not diabetic, then you are okay to eat any fruit really but if you are tethering on the borders of prediabetes, then the fruits in this next video should apply to you. See it here ua-cam.com/video/kVWzJFS6G4s/v-deo.html
Thank You Very Much For This Video, Dr Joe. It’s Extremely Useful; The Serving Sizes Of Individual Fruits Are Particularly Enlightening & Educational.🍏
For me, a grown very active man, these portion sizes are a tease! I'd rather not have them at all! I'm not a greedy person but doing this (small portion sizes)would only frustrate me. I've found intermittent fasting works pretty good for me, long term, I don't know.
It's all about what's important to you, Charles. Lots of diabetics still want to eat their fruits. You have to have a plan on what will potentially spike your blood sugar. If you would rather not eat fruits at all, that's fine. But if you want to eat the very sweet fruits, then you want to go with the 1-serving rule. You could have another serving 4 - 6 hours later. That's not a problem. In fact you can have one serving 2 - 3 times a day but on each occasion, keep it small. That way you won't have a blood sugar spike
Fruit is a crab which has fructose hence not meant as a meal but a 15 g carb snack like any other carb or end of a meal as a desert. IF is to lower insulin levels so fat and glycogen is used for energy during the fast instead of glucose from the food BUT fruit intake servings are to lower glucose levels from food intake . You need both for intermittent fasting to work well and optimally. You can be active during your fast and have adequate calories during the eating window which is the purpose of turning on the metabolic switch from fat burning to glucose burning.
Not something I have tried but they make a big claim there suggesting it repairs pancreas. That's an interesting claim. Might be stretching the truth there in my opinion
