Just a tip but when you use a stick to hold up a tarp in the middle, take a tennis ball and cut a X slit in it and insert the ball on the tip of stick and it protects the tarp from from ripping.
What's wrong with using what you already have, like one of the stuff sacks your gear came in? What's the point of bringing an extra item with such a niche use case?
@@ChrisCollins001 You're right, but I'm glad this was posted. Since I always have my big dogs with me when I'm camping, I always have a couple of tennis balls with me so they can play fetch. Now they have a second use. I had never thought of that.
Hey, I don’t understand some of these comments. I love the “competent and no drama” approach to Luke’s camping and channel. I like his “style” of camping. When I was a kid, and started camping without my parents for the first times, I was just busy setting up camp and all my hi school buddies were blown away because they knew NOTHING about the work involved, and I was just moving from one job to another, as they were doing the kid thing (like here) of standing around figuring out, bickering constantly and wasting a lot of time while I gave up and just got into the work. One thing I have gotten from this (and a couple other) channels I started watching just a year ago, is the GREAT usefulness of learning how to hang a tarp. I’m used to digging little trenches, spending more time stressing over the ground and level sleeping areas, stuff like that. Of course great campers use tarps for overhead protection, but I just never saw many in CA doing those techniques. Now that I’m retired and full-time in a van traveling and out of the van in tents camping in the forests I love and so many new areas I never visited, I’m going to learn how to make the shelter area more useful, larger, all that. Thanks Luke, great channel, good testing opinions, and fun to watch!
I'm going to say it. There seems to be a rash of whiners, nitpicking, and complaining about Luke's videos. I've watched them for years, and have no issues. He does what works best for him. He doesn't say, "My way is the only way". If you don't like something, or the way he does something, don't do it. Do it your way. If this channel doesn't suit you, don't watch it. Maybe a fresh diaper, a tissue, and maybe the Barbie channel would work better for you. Luke, your REAL viewers and supporters have got your back brother! Keep on keepin' on!

Some day use county parks give a little taste of the woods but it ain't the same.
Totally agree with you on a late breakfast my friend!! Bet it's even better under a tarp when it's raining!! Warmest wishes, I so appreciate your videos!! 😊😊
The biscuits are like scones and the gravy I like is made with bacon grease and flour browned then add milk. Farm food in the US. Especially if your ancestors were from Kentucky and Tennessee. This gravy recipe came from my great-grandmother who would have had her 204th birthday tomorrow. Born and raised in Tennessee, married a mountain man and moved to Kentucky when she married at 18
biscuits (American) and scones are kissing cousins. the gravy is a white sauce with sausage added, the main flavors are the sage in the sausage & pepper.
I'm sure I've probably missed a video but I'd love to see your thoughts/instructional on how you mitigate holes in a tarp when you have a fire pit under it like in this video. I probably tend to overcompensate when I build a fire near a tarp and would love to learn what you know on that. Thanks!
I must say, I LOVE and I mean truly LOVE biscuits and gravy 😋 Have since I was a kid! I found the brand Luke has there so think I’ll get some for camping 😉
Im from Northwestern England and love biscuits and gravy. Biscuits here are like savoury scones. But Mixing milk with sausage meat is unheard of over here but delicious. All the best from Lancashire.
Like your hot tents that often have heat protection panels, I wonder if there could be similar panels that would attach under a tarp to allow a small stick stove or pit under the edge in rotten weather
Just a tip but when you use a stick to hold up a tarp in the middle, take a tennis ball and cut a X slit in it and insert the ball on the tip of stick and it protects the tarp from from ripping.
I needed that advice. Thank you.

All that is somebody's land or highly regulated by some park system now and you wouldn't be very alone there. The land was just a lot less populated back then. Some day use county parks give a little taste of the woods but it ain't the same.
Totally agree with you on a late breakfast my friend!! Bet it's even better under a tarp when it's raining!! Warmest wishes, I so appreciate your videos!! 😊😊
Skin soft from Avon works really good & spf 30 also.
The biscuits just look like what we’d call a scone. The gravy looks like a white source with extras. Gravy in the UK definitely isn’t white! 😁
I'm from the uk and I really loved the look of it so I found a recipe and I cooked it..absolutely gorgeous.❤❤
Here in the US we have brown gravy and cream gravy. No self respecting American would put brown gravy on a biscuit. Brown gravy is for beef roasts.
BOAK!!!!
Luke you rock man ty
I'm sure I've probably missed a video but I'd love to see your thoughts/instructional on how you mitigate holes in a tarp when you have a fire pit under it like in this video. I probably tend to overcompensate when I build a fire near a tarp and would love to learn what you know on that. Thanks!
Against mosquitos: Australian RID or a bit better smelling: Bushmaster. Worked for us all over the world.
Luke, your channel has helped me to learn to appreciate nature and the outdoors. Your channel is enlightening and calming for me. Kudos my friend!!
That thunder in the North is just us Canadians saying, “hi,”
Hey Luke, I like the camping site you went here before, I really like how you organized all of this
I must say, I LOVE and I mean truly LOVE biscuits and gravy 😋 Have since I was a kid! I found the brand Luke has there so think I’ll get some for camping 😉
Since you've introduced us to biscuits and gravy, may I introduce you to the delights of stovies?
Ok so yeah I agree biscuits and gravy does look nice... One question.. what are grits
It's a Southern dish, not bad 😊
Im from Northwestern England and love biscuits and gravy. Biscuits here are like savoury scones. But Mixing milk with sausage meat is unheard of over here but delicious. All the best from Lancashire.
Like your hot tents that often have heat protection panels, I wonder if there could be similar panels that would attach under a tarp to allow a small stick stove or pit under the edge in rotten weather
Luke never mentions his footwear. What is your choice of footwear Luke?👍⛺😊
Hi,In Scotland we have dumplings and Gravy very Similar.
