Grew up in Michigan, hunting and fishing from the south of the state to the Upper Peninsula and although I moved a thousand miles away I always tell people that Michigan is one of the most beautiful states in the country. Love our whole country from the south to north but I'll miss living in Michigan forever and will always be a Wolverine at heart.

I was last standing where you were above the lake 27 years ago in September. You made me a little home sick. Born & Raised in Iron Mountain, I scuba dived all the Great Lakes before I was 18, I have dove on wrecks around Isle Royal and lots out of Munising and of course Lake Michigan as well. Lake Superior is the clearest of them all. I was a contracted diver for the state doing bridge inspections all over the state except metro Detroit area, in the early 1980's. I have dove in those mine shafts you were speaking about as a certified cave diver, as well as ice, deep & wreck all over the UP. Great presentation of my homeland, thank you!

I trench the tent campsites for drainage. Wild apple trees is where I get my fish smoking material. The bark and twigs of a few small branches thrown on coals is better that any wood chips.
