My favorite things about camping are stormy cool weather, wild life, no music, no sounds of traffic, things like that along with the aroma of a pine forest ! I have seen bears and deer within 10 yards of me. The most beautiful experience I ever had was when I walked up on a full grown mountain lion that was near my station wagon. I froze ! I was barely even breathing. His head was a little higher than the hood of my car. He was 3-4 feet from me. He stood there staring at me for about a minute and a half, then turned and walked into the woods.
My favourite part of wood camping is when you've just finished a long hike and pitched your tent and stand up to glorious views. There is something so satisfying in that.
And it's amazing how he encounters cameras all along the way as he exits the forest, at the end. Just passes right by and keeps going. (haha but seriously, it's a great video and very enjoyable to watch. He's quite superb, actually!)
I don't know how it happens, but when I open up UA-cam, there is your cute little face every time. It could be from 6 years ago, but I don't mind. I love watching your shows. Thank you for all you do. Hi Susie!
I have a reconstructed lower spine and the one thing that maintains it and the pain is my Spinal cord stimulator and walking..... I'm going to increase my stamina with biking with handlebars so high that I don't bend... maybe an ebike until I get more strength....I admire you Luke... nothing like spine pain.
ive noticed a pattern on lukes videos of people just complaining about their own problems in the youtube comments, every single video theres someone like you commenting depressing stiff trying to bring the mood down, why? this video isnt about you, stop trying to make it about yourself
Something satisfying about the moment you get camp set up. Your Tent/Shelter/tarp what ever your using, your bed is made up and you finally get to sit down and relax with a cup a coffee, tea, cocoa, maybe a sip of whiskey. I think that’s my favorite part of trip especially if your backpacking.
I'm 40 now, was in boy scouts as a kid. We used Eureka tents back then (30 years ago) and they sure seemed legit. Lots of badges collected sleeping in those. Good times. Very small town so our our leaders were veterans of war... real men. The type of guys you poke with a stick if you have a problem at night so you didn't get laid out with a hay maker. Loved every minute of it. Learned alot.
So for the last month or so every time I listen to the outro music to these videos....I imagine AB Camping sitting in his chair in front of his tent with a lit cigar eyes closed just jamming out to the music....ROTFL!!!! Thanks for another great adventure Luke!!!
Glad you talk about taking care of and be protecting about mosses! You are the first outdoor person i have herd be conser and think about moss! More conveenion to cratch it up and put it on the shelter roof!😇🤨🤔🏕🏞☔🌧🕊🇸🇪
I’m 68 yrs old & been single for most of them. I use to go camping by myself all the time & watching your videos makes me want to start again. I absolutely love camping in the rain. I need to save up so I can buy more gear. Thank you for showing me the best & cheapest gear. Keep up the good work!!!
As a life long camper I really enjoy lying in bed watching your camping in storms videos while imagining I'm hunkered down in my tent with sleeping bag pulled up.
I was a 10 year adult Boy Scout leader with a troop in CT and every camping trip we set up in the rain, and basically did everything in the rain. It was only on the day that we broke camp that the night before, it cleared up. Relaxing and sleeping while it rains cannot be beat! While framing museum grade artwork, I always have your videos going to listen to and watch. This one with the rain was the most enjoyable. Thank you for being out there for us in here!
Luke thank you for your videos I’ve been fighting cancer lymphoma been fighting it for 6 months been watching your videos for about year now can’t say enough how they have helped me I sitting in doctors wile doing kemo watching your videos helps so much I have grate news my doctor said after my ct scan I’m clear of cancer I still have kemo for another month I can’t wait to get out for some my own ventures again thank you for what you do god bless you n yours
Hiking in, is the most exciting, cooking can be fulfilling, eating is fulfilling, but sitting around the campfire is always the most relaxing and the most reflecting.
My favorite part of backpacking after arriving at camp, is sitting back in my chair after dinner, drinking hot cocoa or coffee, and thinking about all the events of the day and how great crashing out in my tent and bag will feel. Love the peace and serenity from the world. Great episode Luke. Thank you.
I would say most of your viewers need no explanation. We know you’re face value and have no agenda besides bringing us your honest opinion of what works and doesn’t work. You’ve saved myself a lot of money and have not had one issue with any product I bought due to your review and my own. Thanks!
I’m glad the Timberline kept you comfortable. I made mine heavier by coating the fly with silicone spray on both sides of the fly. If you use a 4 person tent, and split the weight between 4 people, it is well worth the weight. I used it fall winter and spring every month for ten years. (In the 1980s)
Luke, I wish Ford did give you the van for free. Anyone who has followed you for anytime knows you do not do sponsorships. They know you are completely honest and can be trusted. You are not like so many people nowadays that have ulterior motives. I love your channel and your honesty. Please keep up the great work. It's sad that people want to think the worst of others. Maybe it makes them feel better about themselves. Stay true to yourself. God bless!
Love Tony and Bruce on AB Camping. You two are so similar as far as agenda free and buying and reviewing your own gear. Different styles of camping and your both in my top 5 UA-camrs. Best part of camping is after dinner, everyone is settling down and the day forest noise changes to the night sounds, Or as I prefer winter camping how quiet the forest becomes as night falls.
My favorite part is the quiet. I live in a very large city and even in the suburbs the noise from cars and sirens and other city noises gets overwhelming at times.
My favorite part is sitting in your camp watching outside from door the beautiful scenery and cooking and every part of camping I like more motorbike camping than hiking or car
My favorite part of camping is sitting around the campfire with friends. Just like most people my life is busy. To be able to stop relax and enjoy the company of others is very special to me. Add to that being out in nature and unplugged from the world. It reminds me of when I was much younger in the world was much simpler.
Luke, You do not know how much we appreciate that you do not do sponsorships, paid reviews, etc. as it allows us to trust your judgement. Having followed you for years I've found that I do trust your reviews and judgement and that's refreshing in this Junktube era. I look forward to your camping videos and wish I lived where I could summer camp. In norther Alabama it's 91 today with a dew point of 77. So you wear your sweat. Thanks again for sharing these trips with us and keep up the great content. Hope that back gets better, I have a bad back and wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. Now get some of those Athletic Greens and conquer. :)
Your channel is AWESOME!!! I am a person of color and I am outdoor camping novice. I thoroughly enjoy all of your videos because I love nature and all of its beauty, mystery and enticement. Your story lines are very informative and enjoyable. All of your music is perfect for each video you develop and I love, love, love the RAIN!!! I just want to say keep up the fantastic work you and Susie are doing to bring such relaxing and "can't wait to watch the next one" videos. I am a diehard fan of your channel and you guys for all the peace and joy you've shared with your fans!!!! STRENGTH & HONOR!!!
hey my friend Luke my favorite part about the video when the storm come in and you never know what going to happen but your always prepared when the storms come in thank you for sharing it with me
I seriously have no need for music in your videos what so ever. I am very happy with the sounds of nature and your voices. You're absolved from the pain of choosing music Luke. Love your content.
Let us all remember a prayer for Steve Wallis …. Outdoorsman UA-camr from Canada that lost his wife last week. So very sad🙏🏼🇨🇦🙏🏼 Dear Lord, I can only imagine the pain for poor Steve…
I love to see and watch while you are sitting your shelter, thats my fav parts and the idea that you are not cooking too much, took only the simple meal, i love that cause its relieving stress, it is not boring i love the simpleness and your good Common since,
Hello Luke another awesome video.. Don't know if you watch Steve Wallis stealth camping videos,, his last video was such a shock,, His beautiful wife passed away in her sleep.. very sad,, 😥 You always have alot of great info on the things you camp with.. thank you for sharing, love hearing the thunder and rain..♥
Luke, if you hank your guylines before stowing your tarp, you won't have an issue with tangled lines when you need to set it up in a hurry. Look up quick deploy ridgeline, the principal is the same for any guyline.
You are a great teacher. I am in my sixtys. Because of you my wife are camping. We are waiting to go in the rain. Thank you. You perform a service for many.
Luke thanks for sharing your camping experiences there much needed information, relaxation and just down right adventurous. I so enjoyed your with your wife you are spiritual and soul mates together ❤️ 💛 💖 very inspirational. Say Hi from much older lady that admire you both great deal. Great strength 💪 Honour, God bless you both.
Favorite part of camping...enjoying the fire. All the work is done, so you can relax and watch the dancing flames, hear the crackle, and smell the wood. Perfect way to end the day.
I have just started watching your channel and immediately I was hooked. I suspect this happens for most that tune in. Your knowledge, humor, coffee time and cheers, and Susie, keeps me watching. Thanks for doing this and please don’t stop. Thanks!!
I’m 100% with you that the cooking is not my favorite part of camping! For me I absolutely love the whole nature aspect. Love sitting around the fire just enjoying nature.
My favorite part of camping is building and cooking with the campfire. I live for stormy weather camping, I just don’t get to do it often. Great video. Can’t wait for these to drop each week. Thanks for what you do.
Thanks for another great trip. Really enjoy tagging along. I was half expecting a condensation report in the morning, but since you didn't mention it I guess there were none. Keep it up Luke!
I hear ya on the back issues. When I was 16 I raced for FMF BMW. I had a severe crash and hurt my lower back, and retired from racing. Now I’m 57 and my back is killing me and I’m going to have to have surgery. My wife is younger than me and we are very outdoorsy. We love to travel. California has so much to offer as far as doing outdoor adventures. Love the videos bro!
I've never camped with a tarp, and from your various videos it looks like something I'd like to invest in. As for camping it's been a long time since I was out there, but my favorite part was unplugging from the civilized world and enjoying nature.
Look at the Kelty Noah's Tarp. It has some advantages over all the others, not to mention a stuff sack that is large enough to easily get the tarp, plus ridge-line and stakes in the bad without giving yourself a hernia. If you set up on the diagonal, with a diamond or shovel type pitch, it is absolutely the best.
I only started using a tarp a couple of years ago. Try it! Start with a cheap one from Home Depot or somewhere. It won’t be as secure in high winds, but just to play with at first. Helps keeping your stuff dry and in the summer, you have shade and can keep your tent from baking all day. A tarp is easier to hose off than a tent! 😊
@@TomKirkman1 Thanks for the advice. I'm an Eagle Scout class of 1986. I served in the Army and the last time I was camping was a long time ago. Luckily gear has gotten better and lighter.
Yes,, N.C is one of my favorites as well, how blessed you are to own a little piece of heaven...Would like the see more of Susie but still enjoy watching..
The pelting of the rain. Fantastic! A dry ground where you eat and sleep is so important in camping. Tarping is essential. This is my favorite part of camping. Love your videos and insight. Bless you and family.
I have that tarp and the cordage is great. Also a different color. Maybe they have upgraded it. I love that you get such a big tarp in such a small pkg.
I think I might try a rainy day camp some time. Usually, if it's going to rain I call it off, but I think with a tent and tarp it wouldn't be too bad. The rain probably makes your back worse. Mine does worse in the rain or when it's humid. Try eating an oily fish about 3 times a week. It helps for me. I eat polluck. Salmon is the best but I don't like it.
I appreciate the "no agenda". I understand some people have to do or choose do it. But if they are getting paid for talking about them, they can never be real about the products. That's part of the game. With your channel, I don't have to worry about that, you are very real. Thanks again for all that you do. I am glad you enjoy what you do while giving us some useful information. Also, I do enjoy living vicariously through you and Susie.
My favorite part of camping is just what you're doing watching you camp in that ureaka tent absolutely brought back so many memories is unbelievable what a fantastic tent
Prayers and Condolences for Steve Wallis. Camping with Steve.

Absolutely the best part is waking up in the morning along with the nature. Hearing the nature come alive, have a fire going, the first coffee🌄

That's part of the game. With your channel, I don't have to worry about that, you are very real. Thanks again for all that you do. I am glad you enjoy what you do while giving us some useful information. Also, I do enjoy living vicariously through you and Susie.
It's refreshing to see someone not hawking crap especially on UA-cam.
My favorite part of camping is just what you're doing watching you camp in that ureaka tent absolutely brought back so many memories is unbelievable what a fantastic tent
