Reroute to reimain is awesome! But everytime i listen to Soundtrack to your escape and Come clarity, i get so damn emotional and full of nostalgia!!! NO OTHER MUSIC DOES THAT TO ME LIKE OLD IN FLAMES! :(
Yeah it's way more than In Flames. At The Gates actually "invented" the genre - I am a massive IF fan, but DT, ATG, all had a huge impact on "Gothenburg"
In Flames have ALWAYS been great. Fuck all the haters/old school fans who want the same CD over and over and over. I wish I could rub this song in their face. IN FLAMES WE TRUST
@@marcgossar3165 You're barking up the wrong tree, pal. Old School fans celebrate this song because finally In Flames is returning to their roots and do the stuff that made them so well-loved in the first place. Also has nothing to with wanting the same CD over and over again. We just want them to stay within their genre which already is wide enough to allow them to explore different directions.
I discovered In Flames with "The Quiet Place", this song remains me a littlz bit this Era, and I love it. My favorite song from them still Disconnected.
I love In Flames... how can you not?? I was so stoked they rekeased this song and are back better than ever.. my personal feelings!! Fav song... When the World Explodes.... love it!!
Dude I’m binging your videos. In flames and dark tranquility were what shaped me as a musician and just my taste in music in general. I literally didn’t even know about the halo effect until your videos and I’m totally just in my head and memories today.
My first album with in flames was come clarity and this song took me back to that time, with some new in flames mixed in to the song. Saw them live at Sweden rock festival and the whole set was a journey through their 90s era. They closed with this song and it was a banger live as well. Thanks for another great reaction, I've learned so much more about different bands gear which made me start learning the guitar at the age of 33 😅 Rock on 🤘 from Sweden 🇸🇪
A lot of people are mentioning REROUT TO REMAIN. That was 21 years ago. I’m used to bands that have been around awhile to sound good but lose a bit of that speed and aggression. These guys have no business sounding this kick@$$! And us old school fans probably feel a couple of decades younger listening to this. I know I do. Long Live In Flames. 🔥
Great reactions Tank !!! saw them live several time over the years. One of my best was on "a sense of purpose" tour and still remember the delirium in the pitt while they were playing "i'm the highway" which is still one of my favourite songs...
I saw In Flames open for the Metaltour oftheyear this year and boy were they good. I teared up when they played Take this Life. They also played Behind Space which was super fun. Looking forward to new music. Love how honest each reaction is!
As a huge In Flames fan who also grew up with their music and has a lot of memories with it, this just doesn't pluck my emotional strings as the old stuff does. Don't get me wrong, it's a great song but it's not the same. Probably my taste in music has evolved as well. This still goes on the playlist, for sure!
Just a question, more for nit-picky clarification than anything. But, if you say something isn't the same as the old, and the new doesn't work for you, considering you also stated that you grew up with their music, wouldn't it be backwards to say your taste evolved? What do you mean that your taste evolved? Did you start with old and ended with new, and then backtracked? Did you start with new and evolved into old? Cause that's a tad antithetical. Again, just nit-picky question. What do you mean by evolve? and as opposed to what exactly?
@@SirBelmerD What I mean is, back in the day, Gothenburg melo-death was my absolute favorite music genre. In the past 10 or so years, my taste in music has changed more towards the metalcore genre. This doesn't mean that In Flames is making worse melo-death today. It just means I'm less of a melo-death guy today. Does that make sense? Maybe "evolved" was the wrong word. My taste in music simply "changed" would probably be more appropriate.
I would not discount the emotional connection you have with the old stuff. I'm guessing here, but you've probably gone through a lot of shit in your life and the old music was there for you throughout that. There is no way for a new song to have the same impact as something you've listened to (and loved) for 20 years.
One of my all time favorite bands. I’ve been a HUGE fan of In Flames since I was 12 (I’m 30 now) and while their music has evolved I will ALWAYS love them. Insipid 2000 was their first song I ever heard and I never looked back. I still listen to them all the time and I’ve seen them live 4 times and I would love to hear this live and see them again!! Loved it! 🤘🏻🙌🏻

You looked visibly emotional on this one. It's undeniable the influence that In Flames had on your (musical) life, based on how you reacted to this video. And that's how music is supposed to be intended. And that's why I really love your reactions.
For me this is 100% Soundtrack to your Escape, which is one of my all time favorite Metal albums. But I also think it is way less old school In Flames than the media and friends of mine suggested me when hearing about it. But nonetheless, hearing Anders Scream like this on a new song really made me so happy and triggered a lot of nostalgic feelings, as the Soundtrack to your Escape Tour was the first time I saw these guys live.
I feel like they put this out as their 1st single for their new album as a way to say "We Know the last several albums of our have been relatvely soft and overly melodic, and we're getting back to form"....I do hope they bring back some killer crunchy, thick catchy riffs like they used to have in every album soundtrack and before
Pinball map was the first song I heard back in 2003 or so. I was at a friend's house and it was just randomly playing in the background while we were just chatting, once he left the room I started paying attention and those riffs just immediately caught me and once he came back into the room I immediately asked what band this was. Ever since then I've been a huge fan of them and been to the many shows, like you there's albums I prefer more than others but majority of all their albums I actually really like. I'll never forget that feeling pinball map gave me the first time I heard it it was just pins and needles all over my body.
The riff and structure in this song gives me the same feeling as the old dimension zero albums, and of course some slaughter of the souls vibes aswell ^^
Even tho I've never really been into In Flames, I'm still so excited to see them live next week here in Finland! Definitely gonna be head banging to this. Btw, could you do a reaction to Lost Society - 112? It's the first single from their upcoming album. It has got as much critique as it's got love since it seems that this new album is gonna be quite different from their older music. Also, if you'll do the reaction, here are a few things: 112 is the emergency number of Finland (Lost society being a Finnish band) and Samy Elbanna (quitarist-vocalist and song-writer) said that making this album saved his life, and you can definitely hear his struggles in the lyrics. Also the newest single Stitches is lyrically quite heavy.
@@YourEx.. Oh it was great! Even tho, as I said, I'm not that into their music, but they were playing at this one festival so I had to see their show. They were really good! Best part was, I've never seen my dad that excited about seeing a band😂
They were the band that brought me into extreme metal and they'll always have a special place in my heart. That being said i havnt enjoyed their music really since sounds of a playground.. a few songs here and there the last few albums. So I went into this song ready to be disapointed but was blown away. For me, this is the best song they've released since come clarity. Excited for the album.
I was curios what you would think of it. And again, totally nailed my reaction, when I first heard it. It reminds me of their old stuff and also has a tone of their new direction. I like it, a lot, especially hearing Anders screaming and growling, but it didn't blew me out of my shoes. But as someone who also has the Jesterhead-Logo tattooed, I will always support them. 🤘🏼🖤
When they re-released clayman that broke my heart. That is a nearly perfect album in my eyes and it just felt like they murdered it but with the new music it's so much better.
I agree, this new song reminds me "Friends" from STYE, the album the sound of the production is alike to my ears. By the way this is to me the best song by in Flames since Come Clarity, the last album i liked from them (I miss the old times).
I loved the song, sounds like Take this life mixed with At the Gates riffing. They do that style very well and Anders voice is perfect for it. Not many bands could pull off a At the gates styled song, even At the Gates had trouble following up Slaughter of the Soul haha
I like it, and I’ve liked the majority of their albums old and new. Best way I’ve been able to describe this song is that it sounds like one of those that you enjoy, you don’t always skip it when it comes up, but doesn’t sound like it would normally be single/video worthy.
Hey, im late to the party, but I was at the Knotfest Germany last weekend. In Flames was there too and i was so freaked out when they played Behind Space. I thought it was too old to be included in any Set List. And they played a lot of older stuff like. I am totally fired up for the older sounds since, like you, i didn't much like the change they made especially with Battles. Already got myself tickets for the new tour in December ;P
Ahoy TankTheTech ! Greetings from Derby, UK. Wasn't aware that you was a fan of IN FLAMES! I saw them for the 2nd time in Wolverhampton [ March 22nd ] earlier this year. Stood 2 yards from the stage, 1/2 way between Anders & Bjorn! How about that! 1st time I saw them was 2019 in Nottingham - it was the first time that I wore my new RAMMSTEIN leather jacket and I was so pleased & happy that day, the day that I discovered my new favourite Swedish band! Thank You - Take Care - Keep Rockin' ! Going to see Electric Callboy in Nottingham in September! Might be before you do, Ha! Ha!
Rumors say album will be out at the 6th of september. Cant give an opinion on it but it should be around that corner. A lot of bands have released new songs recently with the album coming out around september.
I love how old school In Flames this song is. It made me go back and re-discover their older stuff. Right before going to 2112 (a burger bar in Gothenburg that the singer part-owns) :).
I've always enjoyed anything In Flames has put out, but this is seriously putting me back into those old vibes! You should totally check out Demon Hunter! They are a band I pretty much grew up with and are releasing their 11th album this year. Freedom is Dead is their latest single, with another coming out Friday.
I juat found out about that song!! And how it's a mirror video of my favorite In Flames song ever. Trigger!! Never really got into Soilwork that much, but still. How the hell did I never know about it for like 15 years??
In flames my all time favourite band I've seen them in uk Sweden Germany Belgium. I love them I do miss jesper a lot. Just come across you I've subscribed to your channel. Everyone is happy about this new one I'm thrilled as been disappointed over the last 3 albums minus a few exceptions of songs that I do like but not many. But I continue to support them and see them live. As I agree it's not melodeath it is back to being more heavy. Wether the new album is like this who knows but it's promising. Anders has said in March he has finished adding his vocals on new album. So I can tell you there is a new album coming. I can't wait.
Niclas Engelin: From what I remember seeing, he is also listed as still being a member of Engel (which means angel), which is the band he started and named after part of his own name. Engel has however played shows without him (right before corona) and released a new picture of the band without him in it. Love Engel as well. Too bad their two earliest albums aren't on Spotify
I was so happy when i heard This song because it was the old sound that i grow up with… but understand what u… foten when people is buzzing about a song inget disapointed… but often it grows on ya 😀🤘🔥
While I agree with your points, I think In Flames "true" sound, in my opinion, is everything from Jester Race to Clayman. But like any band, they evolve and change. I personally loved the stuff they put out in the 2000's, but that early melodeath sound was what put them on the map.
@@SirBelmerD Yeah that's my main gripe with The halo effect. It's tailor made for people looking for that old sound but in the process nothing exciting is created. So far all the Halo Effect tracks have been a one ear in one ear out kinda experience for me.
@@Wild_Open I wouldn't quite say "In one ear out the other" is my experience with them. I think they're superb. What I hate is that people have been hyping them up ad nauseum. It's gotten so obnoxious that I'm floating ignoring the band out of pure spite.
The Halo Effect is more in flames than in flames I'm counting Jesper Peter Daniel As original IF members But it also has Niclas (who is kinda in both bands) And Mikael who also did the vocals on in flames first record. New in flames has Anders and Björn i mean they are good too it's really what you prefer and what you listen to really i know Anders can write some really good lyrics and Björn makes wonderful solos with his guitar. But as far as the other dudes go in halo effect they're nailing it! They sound exactly as what would imagine them sound like and i absolutely love Jespers playing he is in a way the very heart and soul of both bands.
Bjorn used ESP Eclipse (LP copy) up until R2R as he and Jesper had ESP contacts. Bjorn switched to Gibson at the R2R time because “I’m a Gibson guy”. His words to me directly.
My first experience with In Flames was the song 'The Mirror's Truth' on one of the new music sample CDs in Metal Edge Magazine. I was introduced to quite a few bands on those CDs like Unearth, Demon Hunter, War Of Ages, and The Black Dahlia Murder (never could get into Trevor's (RIP) vocals, but love the music).
I really like this song, looking forward to the album. 🤘🏻🔥 Speaking of guitars, I watched Jinjer’s concert from Hellfest and Roman was rocking a purple Jackson, it was super weird to see that guitar on him! 😅 Oh, friendly reminder. I Prevail - Body Bag 😉
Vlad had part of his kit boosted on tour in Europe last year, so Roman started using that purple Jackson instead of his OD somewhere around end of the European and beginning of the American legs of that tour. When I saw them in MKE in Nov '21, he already was rocking the Jackson. Roman's OD is one of a kind and Jacksons are a dime a dozen.
Do it I'm so happy to see them back My old band Use to cover my sweet shadow and Take this life all the time. To see them back on their s*** is so awesome
My first reaction was mweh. Now i see and hear it again. I like it a lot better. And its getting there, its not exactly the in flames i hope to hear but its close again. Cant wait to hear more. Because i love this band.
Started listening to In Flames right around Reroute to Remain and the Soundtrack to your Escape (easily still one of my top 5 albums) Some of their stuff over the past few years I was kinda like ehh but this does have that vibe around the time you were talking about. Super fast verse, catchy chorus along with their very familiar song structure. I like it as I was not a fan at all of any of their last few songs they released.
I feel like everytime in flames puts out their "heavy" single everyone hypes it up as the return to OG in flames lmao They did it with I the mask, and The End when those singles came out. Which i don't think they'll ever return to those OG songs everyone wants, but i definitely fuck with whats been going on this in this single so far more than the previous ones
I was never into In Flames, but I also didn't venture into heavier stuff (by heavier I mean outside of Sirius XM Octane) until my early 20s. I remember loving A Quiet Place though. I had an interesting revelation during watching this though: Kevin Cali of Dreamshade (my favorite metal band) has a very similar fry-forward vocal style and delivery to Anders. It's interesting to me because my brother loved In Flames during the Come Clarity era, but I never got into them. Yet I've loved Dreamshade since 2014 and they are heavily influenced by In Flames. It makes me wonder if I'd fall head over heels for them if I dive in now because of how much I loved one of their influenced bands. Isn't that strange?
I hope that tour line up comes to the UK. In Flames and Orbit Culture on one bill. That will slay all before them. FFAA and Vended are the gravy for the steak and potatoes. Adding the final touch to a satisfying feast!
Great track, much better than their recently stuff. Latest full album i´ve had from them were "Colony" And "Clayman", they were great albums, lost them when Jesper Strömblad went out of the band, just not the same without him. But hey thats just me, favorite records from them is Lunar Strain(which i heard non stop at that time, yes im old), The Jester Race and Whoracle.
@TankTheTech thanks buddy been waiting for this reaction since the day this song dropped i love your appreciation for the Gothenburg melodeath scene none of the metalheads in my area really jam these guys
When i watched your reaction i also had the feeling that the high expectations through the talking up of others influenced this in a non beneficial way. Because i knew nothing about it beforehand and for me it was a very pleasant surprise. Btw i think I, the Mask was a great album as well :)
This is the first band I ever saw live opening up for A7X back in 2015 for context I am 21 now. I loved this song and saying I am 21 does not mean I definitely prefer the new stuff, I like both old and new though I do need to listen to more In Flame as I am not extremely versed in it all
I am a native Swedish metal head, i have listened to In Flames since the beginning. Now, all is good and heavy.. alot of build Up and heavy riffs and awesome drums.....My Main concern is that there is no real "in Flames release" in the chorous.. so i Keep on waiting for the "real" , like, chorous.. so there is no release here, if you guys/girls know what i mean with this song
I'm glad I didn't go in expecting anything. For the most part, I'd made peace with the fact that we will never see old In Flames again. I do check their singles/full albums out on UA-cam when they drop new stuff. I found The Halo Effect just 2 weeks before this and was content with them bringing back the Jester Era. I went into this song without any expectations, and was pleasantly surprised. It's not Jester Era - it is more like At The Gates vibes, but definitely something that I personally find better than everything post-ASOP. I am definitely eager to check out whatever they'll be dropping in the next little while.
Reroute To Remain was my first album with In Flames.I have seen them live several times over the years and this new song is a 10/10 for me.🤘
Reroute was also my 1st IF and it remains a sentimental favorite. Just the right blend of heaviness and melody for me.
They’re a fantastic band live
Reroute to reimain is awesome! But everytime i listen to Soundtrack to your escape and Come clarity, i get so damn emotional and full of nostalgia!!! NO OTHER MUSIC DOES THAT TO ME LIKE OLD IN FLAMES! :(
Reroute to remain is the best. Their best track imo is Transparent, but obviously cloud connected and trigger are dope.
You know how important a band is when a whole genre is named after their hometown...
You're right, At the Gates and Dark Tranquility have really created a legacy for themselves. :p
In Flames didnt do this by themselves though... At The Gates, Dark Tranquility and Soilwork where also a part of the Gothenburg sound.

I loved the song, sounds like Take this life mixed with At the Gates riffing. They do that style very well and Anders voice is perfect for it. Not many bands could pull off a At the gates styled song, even At the Gates had trouble following up Slaughter of the Soul haha
It gave me a lot of At the Gates vibes too. That's always good.
In Flames bringing back their perfect blend of Melo-death and Alt-metal AND IM FOR IT!
In Flames has always been in my Top 3 of most beloved bands since i got to know them in the early 2000s.
I agree. It definitely sounds like In Flames in Reroute to Remain but in slower pace..
They actually announced on stage at Sweden Rock Festival, that the song is part of a new album coming later this year.
He mentioned in the video

@@Hoobabalooba 3:33
@@dehasim Oh thought you meant the second part of my comment. He mentioned as far as he knows there has not been an announcement of an album yet.
@@Hoobabalooba anyway, i hope for a good album like A Sense of Purpoise (the last word i always forget how to write)
Ha!
Clayman one of the most important albums in the 00s.
Love the track, really Slaughter of the soul at the gates vibes imo with some reroute inflames mixed in!
Rumors say album will be out at the 6th of september. Cant give an opinion on it but it should be around that corner. A lot of bands have released new songs recently with the album coming out around september.
August, September, and October are going to be BONKERS for metal releases.
It has that old school Colony feel and I hope the rest of the album does too! Return to the glory days
I love you have Soilwork's "Rejection Role" in the background.
Indeed I do!
I juat found out about that song!! And how it's a mirror video of my favorite In Flames song ever. Trigger!! Never really got into Soilwork that much, but still. How the hell did I never know about it for like 15 years??
I love that you put Rejection Role by Soilwork as the background music to the discussion part of an In Flames reaction video. lol
My first thought was that it sounded like Come Clarity. Anyways, one of the heaviest (and best) In Flames songs in almost two decades!
I love this song. It makes my little gremlin soul happy
It was a long time since I saw you that concentrated Tank. So there you go again 😊. 🤘🇸🇪🤘
Fully agree with your assessment here. I said it fit for me in In Flames' 2nd gen which for me is Clayman thru Soundtrack.
Love In Flame’s 🔥
gosto de todas fases do In Flames ...esse som tá foda , um dos melhores da banda... som chutado e refrao grandioso!! saludos desde Brasil!
I think "reroute to remain" is probably one of my favourite albums ever, metal or otherwise.
You sir , have great taste in music.
I can't wait.
in flames are my favorite bands 🤘🇸🇪🤘
Niclas Engelin: From what I remember seeing, he is also listed as still being a member of Engel (which means angel), which is the band he started and named after part of his own name.
Engel has however played shows without him (right before corona) and released a new picture of the band without him in it.
Love Engel as well. Too bad their two earliest albums aren't on Spotify
I worked at their show at sweden rock festival and they actually played this song and I think they played it there before releasing it 😁
I was so happy when i heard This song because it was the old sound that i grow up with… but understand what u… foten when people is buzzing about a song inget disapointed… but often it grows on ya 😀🤘🔥
Even after this song, the halo effect still sounds more like in flames than in flames themselves
The Halo Effect is more in flames than in flames I'm counting
Jesper
Peter
Daniel
As original IF members
But it also has
Niclas (who is kinda in both bands)
And Mikael who also did the vocals on in flames first record.
New in flames has Anders and Björn i mean they are good too it's really what you prefer and what you listen to really i know Anders can write some really good lyrics and Björn makes wonderful solos with his guitar. But as far as the other dudes go in halo effect they're nailing it! They sound exactly as what would imagine them sound like and i absolutely love Jespers playing he is in a way the very heart and soul of both bands.
very well put.
Trigger will forever be the song I go back to when I need to revive my lust for In flames.
Bjorn used ESP Eclipse (LP copy) up until R2R as he and Jesper had ESP contacts. Bjorn switched to Gibson at the R2R time because “I’m a Gibson guy”. His words to me directly.
Good info! Thanks!
Very Heavy, i cant believe thats are In Flames, only on the Voices i should believe it 😅🤘😍
I really like this song, looking forward to the album. 🤘🏻🔥
Speaking of guitars, I watched Jinjer’s concert from Hellfest and Roman was rocking a purple Jackson, it was super weird to see that guitar on him! 😅
Oh, friendly reminder.
Roman's OD is one of a kind and Jacksons are a dime a dozen.
good song ,might be able to listen to In Flames again since ididnt like their music the last 10 years
Been waiting for your reaction to this :D
Do it I'm so happy to see them back My old band Use to cover my sweet shadow and Take this life all the time. To see them back on their s*** is so awesome
I am glad anders is back. The experiment without him felt off.
At the Flames...no problem...bring it!!
My first reaction was mweh. Now i see and hear it again. I like it a lot better. And its getting there, its not exactly the in flames i hope to hear but its close again. Cant wait to hear more. Because i love this band.
Enjoyed that dude.
The whole album is a statement
I feel like everytime in flames puts out their "heavy" single everyone hypes it up as the return to OG in flames lmao
They did it with I the mask, and The End when those singles came out.
Dude. I've been waiting for this!
Sweet dreams are made of this, or vice versa. And I can’t unhear that. 🎶
When i watched your reaction i also had the feeling that the high expectations through the talking up of others influenced this in a non beneficial way. Because i knew nothing about it beforehand and for me it was a very pleasant surprise. Btw i think I, the Mask was a great album as well :)
The song you're playing in the background is a great choice. Soilwork's sister video to In Flames' where they guest star in each other's videos.
I clicked like before I watched the video... because I can.
The Great Deceiver is out now! I smell another In Flames reaction!
The best reaction Channel, hands fucking down
Thanks, man!
