- In just 2 songs ever released by this band, I'm completely sold. This has every element of the Gothenburg Sound that I love, and brings me back to being a teenager when I discovered this kind of music. In this video we break down the band's gear, talk some music company history, wonder why the band filmed different parts together, and realize that there are A LOT of Rush references tied into this band and its members...
FACT CHECK/ERROR CORRECTION:
In the video I stated that guitarist Jesper Strömblad is using the LTD Vulture, which is incorrect. While the Vulture IS the signature of James Hettfield, Jesper is actually using the LTD Snakebyte, which is the other Hettfield signature. The guitars are very similar both in electronics and headstock, but the Snakbyte is based off of an Explorer design, while the Vulture is based off of a Flying V design.

Great review as always, just double check Jespers guitar again, he is using an explorer type what I can see in many of the shots.
You are absolutely, 100% correct. It's the LTD Snakebyte, which is also a signature of James Hetfield. I saw the headstock and some of the quick shots and my mind immediately went to the Vulture that he had in the last video. Great eye!

Had to give this channel a sub. I grew up on the Gothenburg sound and you've said everything I'm feeling right now! Mind blown by this band and I can't wait to hear more! This is just, simply put, so amazing. I grew up with the guys from Billdal and having followed them from the very first baby stepsand on through the decades I can honestly say that they are living, walking proof of hard work, dedication and the drive to constantly improve on individual level (musically) being a key factor and sweet jeez they have come a long way in terms of skills. I am loving it!! Here's a fun fact (for me personally, that is) before In Flames became In Flames I was asked if I wanted to play drums on a show with some of the (soon to be) founding members of IF. I did turn it down because there was no time for me to learn the songs - a variety of covers - and as much as I don't look back in regret I can still think of that moment and request with a bit of fondness.

Dude, I remember the first time I threw on Colony and Embody the Invisible opened up with that sliding riff. I got the same feeling when I heard this for the first time. August can't come fast enough and they BETTER tour the U.S.
This was the exact type of music (melo-death) that inspired us in The Crimson Armada back in the day. We went more Black Dahlia route, but early In Flames was GOATed.

On Robb Flynn’s podcast Peter and Mikeal were on there and said the album is coming out hopefully around August or that time frame due to availability getting the vinyl pressed. They said the singles on vinyl so far came from a small plant they found that could do those.

Their vocalist Mikael Stanne is a busy guy. This, Grand Cadaver and Dark Tranquillity all active bands....

Ayy, been waiting for this! Shadowminds was great, but this is so, so damn catchy. Chorus is absolutely massive, quite possibly my favourite in all of metal in the last decade even. Been on frequent rotation ever since I heard it!

Halo Effect is dropping songs right and left, and finally announced the release date of their 1st very album, "Days of the Lost", August 12th. This EP and Days of the Lost riffs are too much 90's In Flames, I'm having the same feelings that you have, I have grown up listening mainly to Soilwork, In Flames, and Dark Tranquility. It feels that it's a mix of In Flames harmony instruments with the comes and goes of Dark Tranquility, not to mention the signature vocal of Mikael

Last year i had a massive "back to in flames" period. Listened to them every day for months. I love so many of their songs. Currently more in a new black metal period, but damn this fits my in flames list so well. Love it!

Dude I knew I connected with you on some level, now I know you're a dyed in the wool melodeath head. I didn't hear them until the later 2000's, but In Flames baptized me into the world of metal. My channel still has drum covers from 13 years ago of 2 of my favorite songs by them. I'd still say top 3 bands' songs of all time for me: Insomnium, Soilwork, In Flames. Everytime I hear the classics I get the chills.
Absolute highlight of 2022 will be their and Electric Callboy's album. Cannot wait for the releases.

Was my beginning to dive into Death, Melodic Death and Black Metal. and I'm fucing happy that they go on minimum european tour as opening act for Machine Head and Amon Amarth. fucking awesome that this band Inflames 2.0 brings back so many memorys
Started listening to In Flames around 2001. The Jester Race to Clayman are my favorite albums. Just saw you Shadowminds video too. Got the same feeling as you when i heard about this the first time. This is just so freakin awesome. :) Btw, I recommend you check out a band called Once Awake. They are from Norway. And released a new video today. ;)

I think of it all the time when I think of bands like In Flames, Jinjer, GWAR, etc. where their first release has none of the same members as their most current release. Are they truly the same band? It's just an interesting thought experiment.

iirc there was interview of Jesper years ago on why he left In Flames and he said sth along the lines of that it wasn't the Band he joined/founded back in the day, as IF for him always had been a Riffbased Band but he didnt feel it anymore.
Guess he finally found the Spark again and it definetely sounds more In Flames than the actual Band does for over a decade now. While i do like some of Playgrounds Fading and actually love Siren Charms, i'm still kinda cross with the majority of Playgrounds and the latest albums, to me golden era was Jester Race to Clayman and CtC, StYE and RtR still were freakin amazing albums

Man, I miss a good, straight forward melodeath band. There's nothing over the top about this. It's just straight forward head-bobbing metal. It's so nice to see bands less tech than what's been coming out lately. Its really refreshing actually. Really looking forward to the album coming out. No way it's coming out in March. A label wouldn't release an album that quick without an announcement and pre-orders ready. From what I've heard, it'll be summer right before they tour.
