Oh In Flames may be super underrated! Same with Soilwork. And all because their vocals are harsh sometimes. The lyrics they have as heartfelt and and true as the best of them

In Flames is such a unique sound because they do not always follow the standard time signatures yet they are not so all over the place like for example System of a Down. Plus the way Anders handles each verse with a different vocal technique just makes it that much more interesting. It was such a dream come true when I saw them the first time at MayhemFest and even more so when they toured with Corrosion of Conformity and Ministry!

Metallica, Disturbed, Slipnot and some old rap, has saved my life. I was a drinker and quit over 5 yrs ago. My last night was trying to unalive myself. Then i had a call come in, asked why ibwas crying. Told my brother what i did. He was in way to see our mom out of surgery. Picked me up. Took my in to ER. Was in hospital for a month. Found a AA group there. Went for awhile. Covid struck. I been on my own since. Always think of wanting that drink. Because i am really not okay. I been fighting urges, while my mental health disappears. I will put my playlist on my phone to speakers, and lay there and cry or just lay there no emotion shit. I been a Metallica-ead snce i was 12. One, diers eye, king nothing, enter sandman, etc, saves my headspace. Next day or 2 and i am okay again. Please keep reacting to the awesome bands and songs. You are helping me in a big way....thank you.....sorry for the novel

Clayman was an absolutely formational album as a 17-year-old. “Pinball Map” is a fantastic meditation on anxiety-driven executive dysfunction, even if 23 years later I still want to know what an electric splash on a midnight drive is.

I don't know if you'll see this, but thank you. In one of your videos you talked about facing your pain is how you heal. I was already working on getting into a residential PTSD program, but it made me realize that there are still problems I have that I've avoided that impede my ability to thrive (my default is that people hate me). So me and my current therapist are addressing it starting next week.
I've been in and out of therapy for 20 years and it sucks that I still have things to address, but better now than never.

This song and take this life were the two main in flames songs that saved my life as a teenager. I went through so much trauma and abuse as a child, and bands like In Flames really stood out to me as something to hang onto. There are so many lyrics in the song Take This Life that felt so personal as if they were written about my life.

Going through this again for the first time in years. This is resonating soo much. Holy crap!! Like, my wife of 20 years and i have denested ourselves because of the toxicity that has come from 20+ years of undiagnosed ADHD colliding violently with undiagnosed Autism. Much respect for what you’re doing! Enjoy how you dig into metal music on a psychological level to push mental health issues and how it can have positive therapeutic effects to listeners dealing with mental health issues. I’m 50 and still love the metal genre and can honestly say that it’s helped me get through so many struggles throughout my life. I know you get hundreds of requests but I’d love for you to dig into Bleed The Freak by Alice In Chains. This song only recently grabbed me by the throat but in a therapeutic sense for me to vent some emotions built up from past personal experiences so I’d really like to get your perspective on it. i am friends with a few first responders and i can tell they carry different baggage home with them compared to the average human. your struggles are so valid. i can tell that first responders always need to make sure that the well-being of others is the first and foremost part of what to do, but the inner struggles of self-doubt are so real, even if they are hidden. thank you for being brave for coming here to talk and we are here for you if you ever need someone to talk to.

      From djstarion: @aaronmusick8861 Hello friend!
First of all thank you so incredibly much for your service.
They say not all heroes wear capes, and that's definitely true in this case. People don't understand what first responders and veterans go through on a daily basis. I come from a military family, and we've had friends of the family that also served with them in combat. The conversations that you can have with people that have also gone through deployments can be truly life changing, because it's one thing to talk to someone, but it's another to have that conversation with someone that has been through the same trenches as you.

    • @HeartSupport
      @HeartSupport  5 місяців тому

From ebcoile: @aaronmusick8861 I have to start by thanking you for your service in all areas you've served. You, indeed, are a hero. I can't begin to imagine all you've seen and what you must take home. It must seem impossible to find your way out of those dark places. I hope that this can be a light to help guide you from feeling as you are sinking and can't get your head above water. I see you and i am thankful that i had the opportunity to hear a bit of your story. Your vulnerability is appreciated and inspiring. You're never alone in those times when the memories come crashing in on you. I hope that you have been able to speak with a professional that specializes in combat PTSD amd have been given tools to help you when you are struggling. If not, I pray that you do find someone because this world needs more heroes like you in it. Please reach out any time you are struggling because we will be here to keep you from sinking. You protected us, now let us do the same for you. Keep fighting, you are an inspiration and the world needs to hear your story.
      With love
      Eric

    YES!!!
    In Flames
@HeartSupport I saw these guys live for the first time when they were on Gigantour with Megadeth and Children Of Bodom in 2008. My jaw was practically on the floor the entire time they were on that stage. Their music is so melodic and catchy and they had an amazing stage show on top of that. 16 years and 5 concerts, later and these guys are without a doubt one of my favorite bands of all time. They are one of those bands that can change their sound with every album. One of my favorites is the album Sound of a Playground Fading. Specifically the song "Fear is the Weakness." This song helped me through a lot.
At the time this specific album came out, my older brother, who was only 19 at the time, was in and out of ICU battling severe leukemia. Chemo, blood transfers, everything under the sun. After some time fighting, he was finally cured through a bone marrow transplant provided by me. Just several months later, he relapsed and had to go back. This time with unfortunate results. This caused a lot of stress and practically fractured our family. My other older brother and sister moved away. My mom and dad split up practically leaving me and my younger brother almost homeless with my mother so we moved into my Dad's parent's house. My grandparents did everything they could for us three. Then almost a year to the day that my brother passed, my grandfather passed. As much as that total of MAYBE 2 years was the darkest time of my life. The family IS all back together and all living somewhat near one another. Mom and Dad are back together and we see the rest of the family on the holidays. But during the dark times, mainly listening to In Flames, Slipknot, Lamb of God, Alice in Chains, and Avenged Sevenfold, is what got me through.
So with that being said I had just a few suggestion for some songs that mean a lot to me.
In Flames - Fear Is The Weakness, Ropes, or Come Clarity
Alice in Chains - Down in A Hold, Nutshell, Heaven Beside You
Lamb Of God - Walk With Me in Hell, King Me, Blacken the Cursed Sun
Avenged Sevenfold - I Won't See You Tonight Pts. 1&2 (These songs were written about suicide. Pt.1 is from the POV of the struggling individual and Pt.2 is from the POV of everyone else.)

This band brought me out of an extremely dark place. I should have died twice and yet I’m here to talk about it.

“Stay with me”, “Evil in a closet” and “Cloud Connected” are all really good songs to react to, all by In Flames. He (the singer) has spent many years singing about (among other things) depression. 😊

Since you've discovered In Flames, you must check out other Gothenburg bands too. These guys invented a whole new genre in the 90s and it's absolutely amazing. Dark Tranquility and At The Gates along with In Flames are the genre defining bands who deserve recognition

Damn... Even just the opening riff rushes me with nostalgia. This is teenage me sitting in its room, playing World of Warcraft and blasting In Flames.
Funny enough i am just know going back to falling in love with both again. Don't know if this is a good or bad sign xD.
My favourite In Flames songs are "System", "Deliver us" and "Black&White"... but honestly i like all of their songs.

in the words of a Legend, music comes first, that includes melody, the words are an after thought. That why sometimes you get deep meaningful lyrics and other times its just stuff singers make up and sound cool.

@heartsupport I need you. I’m a victim of SA as a child, lost everything in 2020, went through leukemia, I’m a single dad of two teens they are why I’m still here. I’m in the dark water again in my mind and I’m having a hard time keeping my head above the surface. I just had a great day, I made both my kids and their mom laugh so much. Took everyone to a local coffee shop after my youngest child’s therapy appointment. Their mom and I still get along well after not being good to each other for awhile. But even after a great day I came home and immediately felt sullen and slipping into a bad space. I’m also having a hard time battling my mind telling me to delete this

From Micro: @OffbeatLiteracy Please don't delete your comment, friend. Your voice is so important, and this is a safe place to share exactly what you've just shared. I know personally how stressful it can be to share what makes us particularly vulnerable though... and it feels safer to remove any trace of it. I've myself learned to master the art of deleting messages whenever I'd feel like I shared too much to someone close to me. But truth be told: you are never wrong for sharing your story or sharing how you feel. What you are going through, what's going on in your world, matters. Even if it might be hard for you to see it at times. Rest assured that it matters to us right here.
You have been through heavy, traumatic experiences, and I hear you when you say how difficult it is to push through at times. Sexual abuse especially shakes your very own sense of safety, and it can feel so very confusing to learn to navigate in this world when you keep on carrying the ghost of your traumas. I'm not a parent myself but was sexually abused as a child, then as a young adult, and it's fair to say that most days it feels like these ghosts *are* entirely part of me, if not *being* me. It's hard sometimes to dissociate the reality, the truth - that we are important and we belong in this world - from the pain we've suffered in the past. You very own body and mind have been hurt in ways no one should ever know in their life. It makes sense to struggle finding your way through it, through the aftermath, to find it difficult to catch your breath again at times. This is, my friend, the most human reaction one would have in these circumstances, and I hope you manage to be as kind as possible to your heart during those moments.
I believe in you and in your ability to hold on to the truth that this pain is not you. It is a part of your story, it is a reflection of the horror you've been through, it feels awfully overwhelming, but it is not a force that would ever condition what your future could look like nor who you can be. There is hope, my friend, even if it's hard to see it for now. There is life and beauty in the smile of your children, in the smell of your favorite coffee, in the sensation of a warm sun on your skin at the end of a summer day... there is something worth it in all these subtle sources of beauty that life encompasses. You are not doomed to feel separated from all of it for the rest of your life, my friend. This is also for *you*. You deserve healing, support, the sensation of taking steps towards feeling peace within. You just took one massive here by opening up about your experience. Hopefully, this could be one between others for you, something that would ignite a spark to help you develop your own support system and include all the resources you would need to overcome this painful season.
There is more to this life than the pain and fear you've been carrying. YOU are so, so much more. Your children see it in you. I do too through your words here.
