How were the relief cuts in the bottom of the liner done? CNC all well and good but not strictly necessary? I machine my liners manually on my turret mill and not had any problems doing it this way.
these engines are prone to cylinders wearing/ scoring and its no wonder look at cylinders they are just sitting there no side support and cooling issues on no6 cylinder causing hot spots and failure. Westwood liners are the best around.
Actually impressed with the cleanliness of the place in the video. That's the first thing I noticed, then the accuracy in the machines, followed by the skill of the machinist. I think I'll be sending my block to you guys next year for a test and machining. How much would you charge for a m54 6 cylinder liner change our and renewed with the liners shown in this video?
Nope It's a thing nobody talks about , most times the people who buy them new don't give a damn about warming up the engine , and that is the result of what you see above!!!
No video showing the insertion of the liners. Do they slot straight in at room temperature or does the block get heated and liners chilled?
Wow an unsupported cylinder bore that doesn't move around any when you torque the head to it. I'm really impressed, what material is it made out of?
that was neat to watch .
5:53... where’s the crank support???
Amazing , may I ask about the name of the manufacturer of this engine boring machine please ?
Nice machinery! I No torque plates during the honing? there's a reason for that?
No need for the Torque plate, as there is no movement in the bore. The Rottler honing machine is also a very good!!

The relief cutouts are done when we manufacture the liners. The only machining required on the liners is the boring and honing.
Good question, presumably you are referring to the work inside the crankcase?
how did you clean that engine block? looks nice!
A) that's not how you use calipers to measure a bore diameter. B) don't use calipers to measure bore diameter. Use a bore gauge.

does bore scoring occur on MA1 engines especially 2.9 from cayman?
We have not seen anything on the 2.9 engine, but have seen a number of issues with the 3.8 litre MA1 engine.

Best to contact Serdi UK in Uxbridge, Tel 01895 232215. They do all the machining, we supply the liners.

Sorry, that argument is pure bullshit.
You’re supposed to use a torque plate!!
Honen ohne Brille...geht gar nicht!
