The whole diaphragmatic support thing not only improved my belt instantly but i've been struggling with vibrato and it helped so much
So great to hear!
0:55 2 parts to croaking & cracking
1. physiological building up strength
2. Next is psychological
How to think about high notes so not afraid of it and the audience
(He mostly gives the outline of things he does in his course so the regiment isn’t actually in this video, just the general ideas)
1:45 need to know how to control diaphragm first
So you’re not straining the chest neck and vocal cords
So you’re not panicking by the time you get to the high note
2:15 you want to be able to feel freedom in throat
And strength in the abdomen when singing
2:30 the back of the throat should stay completely open
Achieved with open throat technique
To create max amt of space in throat to relive any tension that could take place there at all
And from there just feel the strength from diaphragm
It’s the “engine” that drives your car
========
3:46 the psychology aspect of it now
4:00 vowel modifications will help the throat feel the path of least resistance
You want to try to keep the vowel closely related “in the way they feel”
instead of having big changes in the throat
Thank you, Gene!
My pleasure Ken
Happy New Years!
Thank you
Dude, your always smiling! Puts me a better mood just watching...my grandma always taught us, smile, even if you don't at first feel like it, the people who (this was her advise for phone conversations) cant see you will still see your smile...thank's man, positive attitude sure plays a key role! And the lesson here is spot on for what i needed today! Right on bro!
+James Martenet - A smile is always worthwhile!
this is certainly true in music. smiling while singing will help bring out the emotion in your voice.
A positive emotion will bring you to the success
he reminds me like a singing version of Bob Ross:)
I think Bob Ross ROCKED! What a nice person!

Hi Ken. When I sing higher notes I get a rasp over top even when trying to sound clean. It doesn't happen on low notes though. Why would this be happening?
+Saskaruto16 - This is often a case of needing to close down the vowel with a modification to the shape of the vocal tract. I teach about this in my course. The vowels tend to splat without the modifications.
Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy Thanks.
My mom laughs at me when i try this at home. 😀
mine wants to call the police
+neo stiv lol same
Same here
But in my school
My mom always motivates me but today she said I made her head hurt. 😣 My sisters always tell me I sound horrible and to stop. Funny thing is I sound way better than them. 😅 I still keep singing but there are songs that I just can't keep up or hit most of the notes. What I'm saying is ignore her and keep practicing like I am. I honestly sounded better when I was younger because I practiced add played around with my voice to every song. I stopped for so many years and now my voice is horrible but I can still hit some notes. I believe in all of us. 😊
World tour Haha. I remember John Lennon being told that he'd never make a living with a guitar, by his aunt. Enough said. See you at the halftime Superbowl show!
I was in choir in High School and had a Great Vocal Teacher and your Approach is Spot on....... I'm 55yrs young and I'm already feeling strength in my Vocals.. Thank You, Bro..
That's awesome, Beau!
I always used to be nervous of singing because my rib deformation made it hard to get deep breaths. After watching several videos for months now, I'm actually improving more than I though I would! I will most likely buy "How to Sing Better Than Anyone Else" will absolute confidence! Thank you!
That's awesome, John!
He is the best teacher. He literally helped me with my voice a lot ! Y'all don't doubt his techniques at all, just practise what he says/explains and you'll be fine. Thanks!

I just wanted to thank Ken tamplin for all these amazing free videos that have given me the skills to go from having a terrible voice I was ashamed of to having a singing voice I'm proud to hear on my recording tracks
RedCracker kyle, thank you for taking the time to let me know that my videos are helping you improve your voice. That makes my day!
If I do this in my house my siblings will record or laugh at me and when I do it in my backyard my neighbors are all like... BWHAHAHAHAH!!!... so uh what do I do..?
Do you have a car? They make great, movable singing booths.
I do it while I ride my motorbike
Kay Gotsch also in the shower maybe?
sam sam dude that's worse! xD
You laugh in a year when you're rocking their asses off
The tutorials are incredible!! God bless you. KEN.
I had voice training as a youth, but I really have to pay attention to his coaching in this one if I am to realize the opportunity he is presenting in this complicated session for FREE. I really like the science behind his presentation because it is sound.
Thanks for your thoughtful comment, TJ. I'm glad that you recognize the value of these free videos. The things I teach really work.
i just started following you, thanks for all your videos
I take your advice at heart because when I started to watch your videos I didn't know a lot of things. But watching videos make me realized the mistakes I been doing for so long. Now I can sing a little bit better but I'm still working on it. Thanks Ken you are the best. Let's Rock!!
+Ichy Ortiz - Thanks Ichy! I'm glad you are learning from these videos! Always good to hear from you! Merry Christmas!

Thanx Ken. You are beyond AAAWSOME!
Oh, man! You got a subscriber from Brazil! Congratulations for you and your amazing voice!
This really works. Thanks. Ken your amazing!
I love listening to how precise your intonation is before you apply vibrato, that's what I'm trying to achieve at the moment!
wow!!! KEN you've just solved my singing problem and i've been having voice cracks before i watched your video. thank you so much and i really appreciate the love you share on here
Hi Ken! I just discovered your videos yesterday and I am loving them! I am a professional singer/musician and while I've improved by leaps and bounds over the years, I feel like it's time for me to go to the next level with some real training. Your teaching is the ticket! I will definitely be looking into your materials. Thank you!
+mootbooxle - Great, mootbooxle! You will learn a lot from my course, and your voice will grow like crazy!
Your range is unbelievable! God definitely blessed you with an amazing voice!
Hi Mr. Ken Tamplin, this is my first time watching your tutorial videos. And from now I really wanna enroll myself to your academy. How I wish I could. More power to you!
Love your technical knowledge with just such a simple and clear communication of the thing you are trying to teach. Been look at lots and lots of UA-cam videos over the years, but you are just a notch above. Guess it just reflects the work you have put in!
Thank you, Mark! I'm glad you find these videos helpful!
Thank you so much Ken. I've been a professional singer for over 20 years and watching your videos have really helped me attain higher notes and more strength. You're the man!!
That's awesome, Ronald!
I'm still working on this way open ah vowel. My voice sounded Kermity yesterday and I was having too much effort for my mix. Going to put this back up on the to do list. Thanks.
Fun fact: Mid side, listening to the audio like that, you can hear crazy data compression artefacts in the side channel. Either the recorder, video editor, UA-cam, or all three hath worked its magic!
I assume your business to still be doing very well. You're extremely clear in your explanations and you can, at the very least, actually perform all the actions you're talking about which is a breath of fresh air.
Thanks Kind Old Raven!
i just discovered your Chanel and I loved it!

This is great for me
I a drummer and I assumed I can’t sing because I’ve never been able to make my voice sound good
These videos made me realize I can’t sound good because I don’t know any singing techniques.
These videos are allowing me to learn to sing so I can do backup vocals while drumming.
I’ve only been doing this for 2 days and my voice moved from sounding annoying to sounding ..okay
So I think I can train myself to sing using these
Thanks for posting these videos!
brettzilla craft My course can help with that! kentamplinvocalacademy.com/
When i sing (even when I'm trying to sing clear) my voice is like really raspy and hurts or cracks/dies out if i try to sing higher when i know i could. Some days ill be able to hit higher registers and then ill come back and struggle to sing anything. I think my voice is kinda damaged is their a way to fix this?
arthur- Really great question for the forum. Please post there, other singers will benefit from the reply and you will receive great feedback from either myself or one of my commentators. It's free! forum.kentamplinvocalacademy.com/

I love your videos, and your analogies
Thanks, shaneTV!
Just started, but just realized this would also be good for those who have a tight neck, like me, for not just singing but SPEAKING too. Panicking tightens up the muscles and the nerves 'fray', making them misfire. This should be good thanks!
I have great vibrato but I find it can be a hindrance when increasing strength and range.. I've started to sing without it, singing the notes and words only - without emphasis, vibrato, etc. I figured it was the only way to increase strength. I remember doing something similar when I was young as I was trained in two school choirs growing up.
you do great Ken, i enjoy any episode. Regards from Germany. Angelo
heino sass Thank you!
Outstanding!
Thank you, Carlos!
Great lesson Ken.
😊
watching your videos i've learned huge great theory of singing, but when it comes to practical way im so confused how to reach certain things it feels like i just can't gain more control over parts of singing "engine"..whatever i am very thankful for your free content and free live streams... You are such a great person Ken! Cheers from Bosnia and Herzegovina..😎😎
First you have to get the basics of singing learned. Then you learn to apply those basics at all times when you are singing songs. It's not that hard to do, once you learn the proper methods.
@@kentamplin Thank you Ken! Im doing my best thanks to your content!
My mom always motivates me but today she said I made her head hurt. 😣 My sisters always tell me I sound horrible and to stop. Funny thing is I sound way better than them. 😅 I still keep singing but there are songs that I just can't keep up or hit most of the notes. I honestly sounded better when I was younger because I practiced and played around with my voice with every song. I stopped for so many years because I kind of gave up and got busy working towards graduation. Now my voice is horrible but I can still hit some notes in some songs. Definitely not good at the high pitched notes but I still sing them. 😅
Your analogies or whatever you call it such as the video game one really help to make everything more comprehensible.
This information all fits together and makes total sense. There's just a lot to learn!
Amazing!!How have I not seen this before?!?
Better subscribe so you won't miss any more, Daniel! 😊
Thank you for your videos ♥️♥️
Cherie Carpenter You're welcome! 😀
Hey Ken! Here a traveling Musician Chef from Nicaragua, loving your videos and getting myself ready to take some lessons with KTVA. I'm on the middle of trip of Grastronomical Discovery in southamerica, wich I think is a fantastic opportunity to grow a skill I always wanted, wich is singing. I have a guitar always with me, so hoping to hit the lessons once I get to Chile in two months. Really excited! Saludos

Sensational Ken :) . I'm Brazilian and I'm dying for a proper singing style. In my country there are many musica styles and I'm fond of singing them. However, I also like singing folk, rock and reggae music.
This man is amazingggggggg
Thanks, Andy!
Ilove your class
Thank you so much, Gastor.
I love your videos, you talking about using the diaphragm made me go back to my roots in choir in high school. I forget to use it sometimes. I really want to get better and you help a lot. If you have time, could look at my original video of "I still love you" and any tips you'd have would be very appreciated!
Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy I love all the videos, and your students are tremendously talented !! I started watching, paying close attention, also important exercise diaphragm. The people around me noticed when I sing at work for example(construction) until I got my cojones and got up on stage.Sang rock to salsa old school boleros 50's -60's people loved it.I would like to get more information on your course, I'm not dreaming of any gramy's..lol...but to sing at gigs make a few bucks, and enjoy music.I recently got sick and my voice went hoarse is there any thing I can do so not to screw my voice for good ??
When you are hoarse, you need to take vocal rest. Normally you should sing through illnesses, unless they are respiratory infections, laryngitis or hoarseness. When you need to rest your voice, you just have to rest it.
you really know your stuff
This is crazy,it works awsome😱 thx 😄
You're welcome, kimsnightmare! I'm glad it's helping you! 😊
