    I can't say how much you have helped me, you are a totally blessing to me during this hard times, Am suffering from mental health issue, and with this crazy staff going around the world has real exacerbated my condition and since it is a non-issue in Kenya there is no one to talk to. This clips makes me feel better. Am so broken to hear people are loosing their lives, dropping from earth like flies. It makes me sick. People loosing their loved one. Am praying so hard that it ends so soon, to anyone who is directly affected , Just know it is going to feel better in the end. I pray for you. I wanted to sing since when I was young but I could not get chance. But after watching your videos my hopes are high. I live in slum in Kenya and am using every penny I get to buy bundles to watch your videos. I have been skipping meals to save every coin to watch you and I will confidently say it is worth it. I love you so much man and continue doing what you are doing knowing that you are just changing lives millions miles away.

    Hi Chris, I have been regularly watching your lessons on youtube and on your site for nearly two years, and it has been so helpful! One question about how to make my voice last longer: it seems that now, I have reached a point where I can sing for an almost infinite period of time in my chest voice, using different compression techniques. However, as soon as I use my mixed voice, my voice gets tired really quickly. I cannot last an entire song... My mixed voice has reached a point where I consider it sounds really good, but it gets me tired really quickly. Any tips for that? Thanks!

    Hey Chris, I’ve been watching your videos for ages now and I think your an incredible singer and vocal coach. I’ve been singing for two years now and I really want to be able to sing high notes with power and control like Chris Cornell, Eddie vedder etc.. I’m a baritone and my low to mid range is okay and I have recently learned to use mixed voice to sing really high notes but my mid to High range isn’t strong and I get very tired when using it. For example I find the chorus from ‘gasoline’ by audio slave easier to sing than ‘like a stone’ and I don’t know what to practice to get it stronger.

    Hey Chris! I HAVE another question related to this video. Usually people tell me that it is preferred to sing for 3 hours a day. Now if a singer has excellent technique, he or she should be able to sing throughout the whole day without hurting. But the thing is that when I practice singing for 3 hours, at the last hour my top range is not gone, but it is harder to reach. Does that mean that vocal technique just makes you sing longer, but the voice still gets some small damage that can be cured with some hours of rest? Thank u

    • @FreedyMercuryForEver
      @FreedyMercuryForEver 4 роки тому +4

      Hey, in my experience this is normal, because no matter how good your technique, your muscles are still being used and will tire at some point. So no, you can't sing indefinitely in your whole range, even with the most perfected technique, though good technique prevents undue stress on your muscles and vocal folds, which turns allows you to sing longer and higher.
      I think it boils down to knowing your voice. I know that I can reach my full range pretty fast in a session, but in doing so I will tire myself early and make the rest of the session harder. I prefer dedicating a decent amount of time to working on my highs, even up to an hour, and stop when I feel tiredness. Afterwards, I like to go down slowly and end the session with some less intense singing.
      The key factor in practicing is going up and down progressively, you don't want to force your voice in those really high highs then back down and up again, because that spells out fatigue early anf disappointment in yourself. So listen to your body and your voice, don't force things and you should be fine singing for 3 hrs straight
      Tl;Dr it's normal to have issues reaching your very high range at the end of a session, let you voice rest and it will be okay

    I’ve been having constant vocal fatigue, I don’t know if it’s because I used a wrong technique but the left side of my throat feels so wrecked. I’m getting a doctor to check it out because it’s been about a year, hopefully they can tell me what’s wrong. I’m going on Wednesday. I’ve tried exercises and cool downs, I’ve rested my voice for days. And it’s just not the same every time I t try to sing now. Idk what’s wrong. Am I straining or is something really wrong?? And it also happens when I speak a certain way. (I think the talking one is because sometimes I accidentally talk in my vocal fry, is what my teacher said) maybe that fried my voice, but I don’t mean to talk like that idk why it happens. If there’s damage I hope it’s not permanent 😭 hopefully it won’t affect my singing voice in the long run. I will be so sad because I love singing, as a kid I wrote down I wanted to be a singer in one of those little books you get from book fairs, I saw it a couple of months ago. It feels like it’s harder for me to go into my higher range and sing strong. I’d be singing talking to the moon without struggling much, and then now it feels like I need to put in more effort to get it sound good.

      ohhh! You've discovered the power of the mind! You need some body awareness lessons. You need to train your mind to focus on different areas of resonance so you don't focus on your tension spots. You also need to learn how to properly release those tension spots on the fly. Your "hand' trick only works because your mind's energy is directed there. But there's better places to direct your mind.

      Hey man, make sure you're properly warmed up and don't ask too much of your voice. You can't start your routine with that song.
      My advice : warm up properly, then get into singing but at first keep it easy and refrain from going to the high notes, get a feel for your voice, where tension lies, where it feels good etc. Try not to go over A notes. Then you can start the high notes part of your practice : choose songs that are decently challenging and that require you to start pushing a little more, try to get those A#/B/C a little while playing with your mix (try to add a little bit more head, or a bit more chest and see what feels good). Once you've sufficently grasped how your mixed voice feels and it's properly woken up, only then attempt to get this sort of really high song. The Kill's high notes are C's, and the song requires a bit of power behind those, so if you're not completely loosened and warmed up from support muscles to your lips you're gonna struggle and tense. The higher you go and the easier it is to introduce tension.
      Pro tip : drink hot water, or tea, it's almost magical how it helps in relaxing everything and making your singing easier

      3 years later but my best guess is that when starting in the lowest part of your range means you’re using 100% chest rather than a balance/some sort of mix that happens in the middle/high part of your comfortable range. Starting on 100% chest probably will make you have a tendency to pull chest up which is never good. Hope this helps 👍
