Seeing that clip at the beginning made me feel so much better. I've always thought I just wasn't a good singer or that something was wrong with my voice, but after drinking plenty of water and warming up for half an hour, my singing and voice improved so much. Turns out I've been judging myself based on a semi-hydrated and unprepared voice.
thanks sm for this comment lowkey reminded me to always drink water and warm-up before I start singing and same ive been judging myself based on a semi-hydrated and unprepared video
Oh my goodness, I was finally able to come out of the strained "I don't want to disturb anyone" voice for a moment! It felt so good!! Hopefully I'll be able to do that more because I have my first audition in two weeks and my voice isn't very strong. Years of not wanting to disturb people has really made it hard to come out of that quiet, strained singing 😅
I am literally the exact same, I always have more strained singing because I have downstairs neighbours and I don't want to be too loud and disturb them, but I'm hoping I can start singing without thinking like that soon.
I’m starting to do this exercise on the drive to church now and it’s been in incredible change for the better!! I don’t go out of tune maybe like 90% now!!! God bless you
Tips for beginner singers: •for lip trills (bubbles in this case) you don’t want your jaw to be tense. Relax all the muscles in your face and do a little jaw massage and it might get easier for you!! •drink lots of water to keep your vocal chords hydrated and healthy!! •if your sick you can still warm up!!! Take a straw (whatever you have works) and alternate between straw and no straw each scale!! (This doesn’t work for lip trills) but basically the straw sends vibrations back to your vocal cords like a massage!! •to reach higher notes without cracks and weird sounds, you’ll want to start in head voice (airy light feeling)!!! Hope this helps 💋🫶🏻
9:55 Hello there! I am a lead singer for a rock band that sings at all ranges covering journey, REO, Speedwagon, queen, etc. Our shows are about three hours long so you could only imagine what this can do to anyone’s voice after one show. I have done a lot of research on UA-cam for good vocal coaches and discovered your channel. As a male vocalist I found you are the best that I have researched. I am 54 years old been singing all my life. I love your exercises and technique. It has helped me in such a huge way.. I now sing more relaxed. My range is a lot higher my voice a lot stronger. Thank you so much.. you are awesome!!!!
Stay away from dairy products, milk yogurts it only makes mucus and your throat phlegm up. Stay away from any alcohol. I’ll dry your throat up. Drink lots of tea lots of water. Did lots of cardio workouts running riding a bike. Anything cardio helps so much with your breathing and you won’t run out of gas while performing
As someone who loves to sing but has been out of practice (see 18 years out of practice) of actually singing, these warmups not only remind me of WHY I need to warm up, but they also have helped me use my breathing. I’m at work right now and I’m by myself. I have been told I have a beautiful voice, I just haven’t found any exercises that I have felt comfortable with in doing…until today😂😅
James Hatfield, singer for Metallica, one of the biggest rock bands in the world, tells this story all the time. He was blowing out his voice every single night in concert. And this was during their black album tour so they've been huge for over a decade by that point. And he was still breaking his voice every night. Then he got a coach that taught him how to warm up. They made a warmup tape he could sing along to while getting ready back stage. He never had that problem ever again. I think he still uses that same tape even today - 40 something years into their career. I saw a UA-cam thing they did back stage before a recent show and there was James, "mi mi mi mi mi-ing". So, it doesn't matter what genre or type of music or voice - warm it up, right?
You are a lovely singing teacher. I'm italian and I don't understand much what you're saying, but you teach with such grace and kindness that it's a real pleasure to follow you! Congrat!!
By the first exercise I knew this was gonna be a great warm up video.I love how she shows her mistake at the beginning to normalize that singers aren’t perfect ❤
I spent many years singing harmony in an original rock band. My voice meshed to the lead singer's voice. In only now starting to discover my own voice. Started doing solo gigs. Warm-ups have been a huge challenge. My voice only feels good about 15 to 20 minutes into my first set. Thanks for this
I use this every time I have an audition or a show! This even helps me on those really early mornings! I just closed a show and I used this for EVERY performance! I wish I had this earlier in the rehearsal process! The “beep” exercise is so helpful!
Subscribed! I'm a christian rapper mainly but I've been singing more and more! (about your vid) I didn't think you needed to show what you did wrong but I suppose others thought it was inspiring! I'll say, anyone willing to put themselves out like you to help others is RIGHT ON. Thank you.
You make me feel so happy, unjudged, and excited! Great warm up,great personality, great energy, and I like that it's a warm up that is discreet, can do it anywhere/anytime thank you!!!
The very first time I watched this like 4 months ago, I couldn't do the lip trills at all. After about a week or two figured out how to do them by placing my hands between my mouth like in 2:46. Now I can freely do them even without the hands. I've been coming back to this everyday, my tone, resonance and range has improved since. Thank you for this!
Hi, I’m here as a physical therapist who wants to see if vocal warm up exercises will release tension in the diaphragm which also loosens the whole spine, hips amd shoulders!!! Chime in (hee hee) if you feel these areas feel looser after this session…it works for me! Best to test how these areas move before and after.
For some reason I was never able to do the bubble and had given up on ever being able to. Well to my surprise that little gesture you made at the 2:40 minute mark permitted me to do that exercise for the first time ever. Thank you so much.
Thank youu~ Because I've been using these for about a 2 months now, and it's definitely made the whole warming up your voice seem less daunting, actually pretty easy once you get into it! I really see the differences!! 🌟 Also the foo's are definitely my favorite 🤭
This is so great, thank you! I'm a professional bass guitarist that does a fair amount of backing vocals: if the band I'm in all collectively do a vocal warm up then I'll always join in, but if I'm the only one singing bv's then I almost always forget. Have subscribed and will try and get into a habit of doing this anytime I practise. I'm quite a natural singer in terms of tone, and have always been able to just 'sing' - the upside of coming from a family of musicians. I LOVE the fact you are on camera and guiding/talking about placement at the same time: Without previous vocal training or being explicitly told, this is something a lot of people might miss. Not being able to sing ok whilst playing really throws me off with what I'm doing on the bass tbh too and gets super frustrating. I'm excited to improve my vocal technique and learn to sing in a healthier way!
Gave up singing in mu twenties because of anxiety. So horrible. And i fought with it. I made myself stand up and sing infront of lots of people even though i messed up hugely. Thought i would get used to it...that it would get better. It didnt though. It got to the stage where I was nervous singing alone. So sad I didnt have someone like this to help ke back then! Hypnosis might also be another option,, same as subliminals and manifestation techniques The one thing I love about this video is to use movement. I love this. I struggle with hoarseness I had vocal nodules 22 years ago and when I get stressed, it goes to my throat. I’ve been trying to work on the stress and your vocal. Warm-ups have helped me so much.
Love it, love it, love it! Searched all of UA-cam for a good warm up and this is the only one that works for me. After I am finished, sometimes I even do it twice a day, I feel like I can sing anything ❤

I use to record vocals about 10 years ago. Since then I haven't really sing until recently and I've realize my voice is not what it use to be, its still good but not how it use to sound. I started back up on recording vocals (Doing covers or my own originals). I look all over UA-cam and this one was a wonderful. They way you guide and teaches us and reminding us, "It's okay." Becausr as someone new to this, it can be difficult. It's been 2 days of doing this warmup and I can already tell the difference. Thank you for the wonderful video. It feels like I'm actually doing it with a teacher. Awesome video! I will do monthly follow-ups, but if I get enough interest, I will do weekly follow-up. Comment below to keep up with my follow-up
This was amazing because you explained everything and showed how to do it. The bubble and the puffy cheeks are the hardest for me. I have trouble controlling my air after the higher notes. I have a notoriously tight jaw as i grind my teeth at night and during the day I have a habit of unconsciously clenching my jaw during the day. Thanks for this video it was great.
Thank you very much for your help. The vocal exercises were useful, I've been doing them for 2 weeks and yes...I see a major change. I'm not a professional singer but I sing at church and you helped me a lot.
Hey, sister, thank you so very much. This man who lives here in Reno Nevada. Her name is richard and I really really really appreciate your enthusiasm and your willingness to share with many doug's continued blessing on you And our family

It doesn’t matter at all, just like Short & Long range runners, they still warm up the same.
As the singer of a rock band, I can attest to this also. Warming up is insanely important.

Great warm up before singing or just any time daily. Thanks a bunch!
Thank you! The last bubble was hard! Have to do it again! I have been struggling with a weak voice and cracking because of acid reflux and excess mucous. Thanks for this!
•for lip trills (bubbles in this case) you don’t want your jaw to be tense.

I will do monthly follow-ups, but if I get enough interest, I will do weekly follow-up.
Comment below to keep up with my follow-up
Love this! effective and easy to follow! Thank you so much❤
This was amazing because you explained everything and showed how to do it. The bubble and the puffy cheeks are the hardest for me. I have trouble controlling my air after the higher notes. I have a notoriously tight jaw as i grind my teeth at night and during the day I have a habit of unconsciously clenching my jaw during the day. Thanks for this video it was great.
Thank you so much......happy singing❤
Really good… so pleased I found this … simple and effective ..crack up vocals during a performance isn’t great
Loving it! Thank you. Pls keep sharing.
Thank you very much for your help. The vocal exercises were useful, I've been doing them for 2 weeks and yes...I see a major change. I'm not a professional singer but I sing at church and you helped me a lot.

Yet another brilliant video. Thanks so much. I always run out of breath on the bubbles. How do you prevent that?
