    If you start singing? The biggest criticism usually comes from your closest ones. Parents, partner, children. Be ready for it. You can doubt the meaning of life. But never, never do you doubt about yourself. And About your singing.

      Agreed, if anything use it as fuel to train harder, become better and prove them wrong. Anyone can give up, but those who never forget their dreams, continue working on them are the ones who achieve them.

    Ladies and gentlemen, today's historic moment has come. I hit the highest note in the song Love Hurts (Nazareth) which is on A-minor in the words: They´re not fooling me. And it all thanks Ken´s methods. And it all after 10 days of intensive excersise only. Only from his videos.

      Lol. I'm trying to hit the "we are the champions" infamous "fighting" (A4 / C5 + A4) Wich is hard since i have no support up there yet. so it sounds like falsetto even though it isn't. gonna get it sometimes. (I was thinking of We are the champions live in the early 80s btw)

    Gotta say your channel is quality. I've been singing for fun all my life, but never actually tried to get good at it. Decided out of the blue the other day to start taking this little pastime of mine more serious as I enjoy it so much, browsed youtube for some information to get me started on my journey and stuck to this channel because it's way more convincing listening to a guy who's good at what he does and can prove he's good at teaching with a solid student lineup, than listening to some dude who won't even do scales on camera. 3 days in and my vocal fatigue I had serious problems with (due to incorrect breathing and bad posture) is gone, my tone is clearer, and I can hit high notes I thought I physically could never reach due to having a very deep voice (they don't sound good yet, but I can hit them and that's step one). I realize this is in large part down to me being a beginner when it comes to the actual meat and potatoes of the craft coming from a neighbourhood nuisance shower hero background and that this rapid learning will end as fast as it began to make room for the long road to proficiency, but that it happened at all is testament to this channel and its ability to take these basics, break them down in a way that makes sense, from a person with credibility, and allow people like me to rapidly improve. Good job, I'm excited to hear what I sound like in a year.

    • @kentamplin
      @kentamplin  5 років тому +1

      Yes, Vor. There is an ebb and flow to progress with the voice. But the important thing is to get started, and to do so with the right methods. No matter how much you practice, if you are practicing unsound methodology, you will not get to where you want to go.
      I'm glad you found my channel.

    I'm really excited to learn new techniques to sing in a healthy way that won't ruin my voice! I honestly just like to sing for fun, but I feel like learning these things is still important, even if it's just for fun! I feel like I've learned more of the reason why voices sound the way they do, and I really appreciate all the advice to get a truly powerful voice!

    One thing is bothering me tough, as i recently discovered i've been affected from breathing problems what seems all my life and i can't really breath well and strongly with the diaphragm, should i slowly start building strength in my diaphragm until i can sing with no problem at all? (just like i am currently changing my way of breathing and working on my health on that)

      Nesøybanditten really good lesson but try to make the volumes more consistent so you don't have to turn it up and turn it down every 5 Seconds. Your kind of soft spoken then your singing comes on and blows the speakers. Like those old action movies you have to keep adjusting the volume

    Very helpful lesson. Found it after checking out "10 second song" project you did awhile ago.
    You have amazing voice and great material for people that want to sing better.

    Hello Ken! I'm an amateur singer from Brazil. Unfortunately I can't aford your course now, but I'm whatching your videos on UA-cam and I'm doing the exercises. After the first week I felt my voice improved. Thank you so much for your free videos and the tips by e-mail. When I have 2 or 3 gigs in a row my voice gets "tired" and I feel unconfortable to sing, having difficulties to reach high notes. How can I avoid this to happen?

    • @kentamplin
      @kentamplin  5 років тому +1

      You have to learn to cut back the air as you sing, Leandro. My course builds you in such a way as to allow you to learn these techniques. It requires a lot of step-by-step training to get there.

      Take that as a compliment. Your friend does not realize that he was being rude and discouraging. We get our own styles by learning things from the styles of others and combining them into what we do best. Watch this video: ua-cam.com/video/6PS7N4hPhbc/v-deo.html

    • @kentamplin
      @kentamplin  5 років тому +2

      That's cool, Rachel! That's how most of my female students are, in general. Rockers at heart, but they also have the gentle, softer side. A lot of the guys just want to go full-throttle, halls to the walls, Rock and Roll all the way. Not all, but a lot. At KTVA, we train on how to get any sound or style you want, and give you the tools to do it safely.

    • @kentamplin

      Yes, I know there are a few flaws here and there that could be edited out, but I tend to leave everything raw and unedited, to the extent possible and practical. ...and that's going to be a lot less of a chop job than some of the other editing expert, er, I mean "vocal coaches" put together. They assemble entire fantasies that have little to do with real life.

    What would be the theory on singing like Neil Young? Any change on an instructional video? I read he's a countertenor and those are very rare. He has a broad range too (lowest note is an E2 on the song Motion Pictures and he could go up to an F5. I think he's mostly using a reinforced falsetto. I don't think he uses any other vocal techniques or vocal exercises to warm up his voice: but how has he been able to maintain his voice all these years then? He had voice cord surgery in the seventies (175?), did this solve all his vocal problems? Or did he - to contrary popular belief - start using vocal techniques to preserve his voice?

    I think I get it, Ken, I did the LAH thing and now my recordings are not like shit they're brighter, even though I see lack of tuning on this brighter level it makes me prouder, I think I was singing with a talking registry before.
    But now I'm not used to this volume, it feels like very loud in my own head, I'm a shy person, you know.

      Get the AH first. It's the home position for Open Throat Technique. All vowel sounds stem from the Ah, except EE and sometimes Ooh. I have lessons and exercises on all of the vowels in my course. But first we work the AH from all angles.

    After 6 weeks of intense exercise I feel two thick strings in my throat. My spoken talk voice is very deep, fulles and warm. Is it very pleasant feel. For pure tone of voice during singing is necessary hold the throat down. If is throat up, arises distortion effect nad voice is not so nice. During First 4 week I had problems with damage my vocal cords after 1 hours intensive exercise. This problems are away. Cords will withstand a much greater load. Is possible sing 2 x by day 45 minute. For example is possible sing - Still Loving You - Scorpions. Even 5 x times in row morning and 5 x afternoon. Full long of text, of course. Incredible.... Incredible, What my family still hold listen....:-)
