    Dude, the way you talk in most of your videos is so pure and honest. There are VERY few times I've heard you speak in a ''gangsta'' type of way but that doesn't bother me at all.
    I guess most of us have some kind of mental error-code these days. I can honestly admit that I sometimes have panic attacks, anxiety and depression episodes.
    My ''personal problems'' began almost 10 years ago. Only until now I've learned how to ''deal'' with myself. What I've learned through these years is that you have to talk to someone. No matter if it is a family member, friend or a psychiatrist... I've been through all of them. I can also admit that I'm using a small dose of medication to keep my sanity in check.
    I wish you the best of luck and health Che!
    PS. It would be awesome if you could cover more ''cut content'' from Fallout 2 ;)

    It's strange, I have a few illnesses including the more severe stuff like bipolar and stuff like minor hallucinations and a few episodes of psychosis. I'd actually say that ocd is the most debilitating of all. Lots of people make jokes like "I'm so organized it's like I have ocd lol" and they don't realize how terrible it actually is to have it. Glad to know you overcame it, at least partially.

    Good to hear about you getting better...that said (i feel bad for pointing this out) your usually calming voice kinda sounds off, almost tired ... hope you'll fully recover because it seems like you are 99% there but not 100%
    .
    That said: i may not know how you feel/felt .. never been anorexic nor have i ever had serious OCD; that said i left my parents' home when i was just 14, and went on living in squatted places with people 3 times as old as me..thief, scavenger, smuggler and, in the end, heroin junkie - never smoked a cigarette, yet i began using heroin at 17; useless to say, not only to start at such a young age you must have some problems with yourself, but continuing to use it WILL definitely cause more or aggravate the ones you have...i went on for 11 years.
    Thankfully i found stuff that keeps me in order; caring for my family that now needs me, dedicating myself to the gym, and...RPGs, yes they are that important to me : )
    Back to you: More people need to know about Arcanum, Dark sun, Fallout 1&2 etc , and you're one of the best channels out there doing that job...don't take it as something you must do, instead find happiness knowing that it is something worthy that you are good at explaining : )
    cheers from Italy!

  • @neutralgoodhuman9255
    @neutralgoodhuman9255 5 років тому +1

    Well, to me, the true moral of this this story is to never neglect a specialized medical tratment when dealing with mental disorders. They take away the ability to act reasonably, so trying to overcome them by just willpower is a bad idea. Never forget that any mental thing like conciousness, mood, emotions, perception (inluding self-perception) has its physiological basis. If your physiology is fucked up, no matter how hard you clench your teeth to act reasonably, it won't work, you will still do stupid and/or harmful things to yourself or to others. It's like trying to run with a compound fracture in your leg.
    So to end my rant I would say that, if you have a mental disorder of any kind, apart from talking about it with someone you trust, go ahead and visit a specialized doctor.
    And yes, never consider your mental disorders to be your personality traits. They are not distinctive features of a person like sexual orientation, attitude to religion, social habits and so on. They are fucking diseases, and they have to be treated.

    Missed you Check.
    Glad you're back.
    Wanted to thank you. With help of your motivation and mental health videos I've solved my issues, I be been imprisoned in psychiatric ward system and held there, or at home on meds killing me for about 11 years.
    They tried to turn me into animal and kill me, but I was strong in broken places. It was like a nazi camp, some experience that Victor Frankl was been through during WW2.
    Now I am writing poetry, sci-fi novels, fairy tales and live my own life, I prison broke from the asylum system. It was like a fucking movie, and someday I'll write a book about it.
    My views on the old school isometric RPGs are totally similar to yours, I be got a lot of materials on this topic, earlier I had a job in game journalistic and gamedev.
    Want to visit Obsidian's office one day.
    Fallout, Planescape torment, KOTOR and Baldur's Gate are my favourite worlds. I wrote a novel about Fallout, it's the world I lived in for a long time, it helped me a lot.
    My intention is to create a UA-cam and twitch channel similar to yours,to russian spoken audience.
    Want to make friends with you and talk about everything, we will have a lot to talk through. Want to be in support when needed, see you as the spiritual brother.
    We are understooded poorly, but when we are together no-one can ruin us.

    I have OCD. I know there are different types of it, but i think it is a misunderstood disorder, for me it's not about arranging things and stupid trivial shit like that. I experience intrusive thoughts that are horrible or violent( obsessions) and to defend myself and make them go away I perform repeated mental rituals (thoughts/compulsions). While I do check if I locked the door when I leave the house repeatedly, that is just the tip of the iceberg with OCD for me. I think that people with OCD have a lot of shit going through their heads that no one will ever know about. God forbid a person with Ocd tells someone their thoughts, they would be committed to an asylum, and that's why it's misunderstood I think. Maybe you don't have OCD but a similar anxiety disorder, I remember that you talked about having panic attacks in one of your past videos. Whatever the case your fans are always here no matter how long breaks you take from making videos :)

    • @RetrospectiveGaming
      @RetrospectiveGaming  5 років тому

      It's OCD ..it was confirmed to me...the trivial stuff and the obsessivenes over my running and eating and everything else was just one symptom...like you said if I told everyone all my thoughts ppl would think I'm crazy lol...I don't have violent thoughts
      I get intrusive obsessive thoughts over situations and my self esteem to the point where it can make me shut down for days if I can't fight the thoughts away
      Frankly I have some more disorders too TBH but some things I like to keep to myself ...
      I appreciate the support and thank u so much for your comment sharing your experiences

    • @marko6219
      @marko6219 5 років тому

      I read in some article that OCD develops as a combination of different disorders such as: social avoidant personality disorder, general anxiety disorder etc., the article refers to them as OCD's ''creepy cousins'' lol. When I said trivial stuff I meant checking if the oven is still on like 5 times not anorexia and eating disorders that is serious. Anyway I believe that hearing or reading about other people's experiences with OCD from time to time makes the intrusive thoughts go away for a little while. Stay strong 💪

    Che, please bro, try doing weightlifting and calinesthetics too, like just running all the time and doing constant cardio will wear you down, but if you do other things like those it will tone you up dood. You will build muslce and feel more confident in your physique and how you look and see results. I know what its like having eating disorders and problems with mood, its really hard coz so much pathological stuff messes with your head. You said you didn't know any other ways to relieve stress well I do weightlifting and I also play music, maybe you have something creative you like to do? And if not, try different physical excercises which will tone you up and keep you focused on good nutrition whilst getting some rest on your feet. At the end of the day if you fuck up or something, don't beat yourself up too much Che, I love you man, hope things start to look up soon, I've been subscribed for years and always come back to see your videos coz I have the exact same taste in games to you

    I was actually just thinking about your channel the other day. You must be tall if you are considered anorexic at just 129 lbs. When I was in ROTC in college I was 120 lbs from all the PT and very healthy, although they made sure we ate a fuck ton. BTW, that squirrel did nothing wrong leave him alone. Cool that you are back, just before to eat a sandwich from time to time.

      I'm close to 6 foot ...well at one point I was 117 points but I got up to 129..but its the way I maintained my weight that was bad... aneorxia doesn't always mean being like 90 pounds... it means ...doing harmful things to maintain a certain weight... although at my rate..I would have been like 100 pounds soon...I'm an on and off aneroexic..I'm able to fight it sometimes and not abuse my body ..but then it comes back...I think least I weighed wad like 113 pounds at my worst but that was years ago
      I read somewhere that our body holds on and tries to maintain a certain weight at some points ... maybe my body did me a favor and held off until I could try help and get worse...I was 145 pounds last marathon season..very healthy...but I dropped 20 pounds and counting ..wasted away all my muscle....it's crazy haha
      Yeah you were healthy..I wasn't I was vomiting blood at some point haha ..good that I'm alive to laugh

    You might want to see a psychologist, or better yet a psychiatrist, because not only are you suffering from multiple things already. Though, it sounds like you have a serious anxiety condition. Coupled with the OCD I can see why you purge and think you look "fat". There is medication that can help you with things like this, especially undiagnosed anxiety. It sounds like you're having panic attacks very often man. I hope you find some kind of peace and balance in your life. Welcome back, was wondering when you'd upload next.

    @uzzab6937 5 років тому

    I used to be anorexic in high school but now I'm a fatass and hardly exercise (which is a problem but it's the opposite of your problem). Being fat has its ups and downs. For one, people don't notice you/check you out. The bad thing about that is you feel lonely/ugly. But it can also be a good thing in that you don't have to be just your body; it gives you a "fuck it" attitude which can be healthy in moderation. Fuck what people think of me, I'm my own person and my personality is strong enough to get me through life. I've taken it to the extreme where I don't give a fuck at all, which is wrong because body image is not just about what other people think of you, it's what you think of yourself and is important health-wise and happiness-wise. So I guess what I'm saying is, and it seems you've already figured this out, that everything should be in moderation. Maybe let yourself go a little, you can still be good-looking at 160-180 pounds if you just put on muscle.

    Try some visual arts, it's therapeutic, relives stress and helps with OCD.

    I have the oposite problem, my body burns calories like a motherfucker with the result that I'm very skinny despite the fact I eat more than 2 people combined. For me summer is hell due to the massive body heat production and during winter I can go outside dressed as it was spring. My girlfriend had the oposite, her body is so cold that in the night I feel like I'm hugging a fucking iceberg, even during summer she is cold as a corpse, to the point that I ended up nick naming her "the reptilian ambassador on earth"... ... the abstinence that came after that joke... ... never again.
    Regardless, you MUST force youself to complete small quests during each day, like for example: eat X amount of food, rest X amount of days, run X amount of miles. Force yourself to make it a rutine so once your mental illiness tries to hit you, you can at least give it the middle finger. But do NOT give yourself up, those problems you have CAN be controled, do not forget what they forced you to do... destroy your body, you know the price, now fight back until you can have a normal, healty life. If I can beat depression (with those beautifful suicide attempts that came along with it), you can beat this or at least, keep it under control without being a burden.
    P.S: The entire rant at 7:55 ~ 10:10 is why I would MARRY you if the chance is given.

    Okay. I know I am late with this BUT I hate your voice, I hate the way you say things, I hate the name Che and its historical association.
    NN OO WW Despite this I am subscribed to this channel watch and like every review and comment when I have something to say. It is so refreshing to have someone looking for games that aren't trend following pieces of shit, but are actually innovative sprawling with charm and good writing, and has the same level of honest and no nonesense admiration for games that I do.
    You are doing god's work! Don't ever stop! And welcome back
