- Thankfully you all have led me down a Metallica rabbit hole where I've heard the original version of "Nothing Else Matters" on the channel. So it left me surprised when I learned VoicePlay would be covering a metal song! Then leave me dumbstruck when the Violayne comes into play. . . this arrangement is one of Geoff Castellucci's masterpieces!
Join professional opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff, as she listens to VoicePlay performing "Nothing Else Matters" for the first time.

I love how much pure joy Elizabeth expresses when she experiences something unique and/or just really cool in a song. It actually makes me emotional to see someone loving music so much.
I concur.
Yes. I got teary when she got teary about Cesar.
She really is beautiful 😍
I'm so mesmerized by her, that I forget to watch the video she is watching. Luckily she goes "back, one more time" so I too get to see it all 🥰
Not to plug other reactors, but I watch Elizabeth, deadgirl superstar, and what it do dave for how much emotion they show in their reactions! It's exactly why they're my favorites.
There are a LOT of people out there reacting to videos, and quite a number reacting to our favourite acapella group Voice Play, but Elizabeth is THE BEST reactor. Not just the laughs, the gasps, and the jaw-splitting smile, but the information imparted is great. Other reactors love what their listening to, but Elizabeth explains what has been done with the music and why we love it so much. I am not musically trained, but I do sing (by ear) in a choir so it is helpful to have the techniques explained - and if they are not explained, it gives me an opportunity to learn more about a subject I love but know very little about.
Thank you, Elizabeth, for sharing your joy and your knowledge.
Both Geoff and Layne are musical geniuses, but this is by far my favorite of Geoff’s arrangements. It’s sooo good
That right there wasn't just a simple eargasm. It was an eargasm with aftercare. I feel like I have been blown away and then smoothly flown back to reality. There was absolutely nothing wrong with that arrangement, song, performance. You name it, it was brilliant.
I liked it when Elizabeth said “If you got, drop it.” about Geoff dropping an octave and then dropping the bottom right after.
I saw this come out a little while back and I knew Elizabeth would have to do a reaction ASAP. Her reaction as always, did nor disappoint, in the first 30 seconds. Geoff's bass notes just have that effect on her.
BUt to see her joy through the entirety of the song...so worth it.
Man, Geoff's bass has that effect on /me/, and I'm a straight male! ;p
Have you ever seen someone really enjoy what theyre listening to. they just bop along, the sheer delight Elizabeth shows..
Elizabeth's enthusiasm in this reaction is contagious!
Her laugh is so much fun. It should be a meme. :D
Watching Elizabeth's reaction when the violin comes in, is a perfect example why she is 8 of the 10 most adorable people on the planet!! Thanks for making me smile!
I feel like the camera focus on Layne's drumming hands just prior to the violin add is like a magician's trick: Look! Nothing up my sleeves....
I want to thank you for introducing me to this group. This is insane.
As a metal head this is powerful. No double bass or guitar needed.
This is absolutely, hands down, the most spectacular phenomenal performance I have ever seen! I'm not being hyperbolic. In my 53 years of listening to, and playing music (mainly guitar), I've seen and heard a lot of great things, but this beats them all! It's so amazing what these gentlemen can do with their voices. The sheer talent is mind-blowing. It's a well oiled machine. If even one of them goes out of key, or out of sync, in the minutest of ways, the whole thing comes crashing down. BEAUTIFUL! BRILLIANT! BRAVO!
Edit: I just wonder if Hetfield has heard this yet?
Welcome to VoicePlay. This piece is only one of their absolutely excellent covers. I think I love every recording of theirs I've ever heard. Even in their earlier years they just had "Something" in addition to their raw talent, creativity, and obvious love of what they do -- and they just keep getting better. I hope you find much more to love over on their channel. They are the reason I joined Patreon -- to support this level of art!
I wish more people got this gloriously giddy over something they love.
When I hear these arrangement of Geoff's I can only sit in wonder at how he comes up with them. How does his mind work? It's just incredible.
@Rick O'Sidhe Honestly as a musician I get it. Sometimes you get on a roll and the ideas effortlessly flow out of you without really needing to try. It's a magical feeling.
@@vvoof2601 Although, sometimes you also have no juice. You can sit there for months and never think of a thing. It's a very volatile type of thing
Okay, I listened to that cover twice in a row yesterday and yes, Geoff's super low notes also make me giggle, because it just surprises me every time, even when I know it's coming. But I must say I've been super impressed lately with Eli. When he goes high and full out, just so powerful. And his quick pitch changes are very nice to listen to, so smooth. I wish I could do that :p
Yes. this was really, really, REALLY GOOD! It may even be the best I have ever heard from Voiceplay. When I heard that an Acapella group had covered Nothing Else Matters. I almost felt angry. How dare they destroy such a magnificent song! but they didn't! I did not think it was possible to do justice to this fantastic song in an acapella version. But not only did they do it, I am sure the members of Metallica themselves would love it. This is the perfect example of showing respect to the original, and still adding something new.
And as always, to hear and see Elizabeth's reaction and to hear her explaining the technicalities of the performance, was very delightful and educating.
To do a good cover of a song you have to appreciate it for what it is and bring the soul of the song to a new place. Too many covers are done with the though of "I'm going to popify or countrify this song" instead of respecting and understanding why the song was so great in the first place. A true master class on how to do a cover right by voice play.
Thank you for introducing me to VoicePlay. Amazing. Geoff blows me away. That low E is wow. Look into Van Canto. I feel you would really love The Bard's Song.
With all of her experience and education in music and performance, Elizabeth is more than qualified to do these analyses. However, she doesn't just analyze, she puts that experience, her knowledge, those emotions, and her humor into the videos. Perhaps best of all, she's a pure joy to watch.
She's able to clinically disect what makes the music so technically excellent, but doesn't get so detached that she forgets to enjoy how much fun it is
As a metal head and a Metallica fans I don't think I've ever appreciated a Cappella this much. I literally clicked on this because it was Metallica but Voicplay may have a new fan after that. Also your energy when it's something you are into is off the charts vs when it's something you are doing and reaction video too. Love it.
I'm going to go watch their video UNINTERRUPTED now 😅😂 😜
It makes me happy to think that Voiceplay could be Metallica fans 😎 Metallica changed my life and got me through a lot of tough times 🤘
Dude, as a former prisoner, I can relate, especially with "Unforgiven."
The thing that comes to mind when I hear Eli here? It's like adding a drop or two of water to really good whiskey.....it mellows it a bit without taking away from the complexity and overall fullness of the flavor. He has such an excellent control over the blend between softness and edginess that is so very rare!!
I love how she is the perfect example of what music can do to your feelings lol
I love how you giggled all the way through it! What better praise of this arrangement and performance that to hear and see your sheer delight.
That was simply a masterclass on every singing technique known to man and some other worldly. Chef's kiss🤘🔥
I showed this video to my dad yesterday and his main comment was, "That bass is a mutant." Amazing showing from VoicePlay on this one and, as always, love your analysis.
Been waiting for this!! I think VP has made their most wonderful best effort on this song. I love Metallica, especially this song, so having the two combined is awesome. I am 71 and grew up listening to what I now see as the precursors to metal...Steppenwolf, Iron Butterfly, Jimi Hendrix, etc. So really appreciate this. Thank you for the lovely analysis. So good!!
At this point i think reactors have started to influence the a capella groups.
Next Pentatonix will come out with "Silent Lucidity" and Home Free will do Dio.
Once Disturbed releases a metal cover of an a Capella arrangement of a Disney medley... we will have reached full singularity.
Just wait til vocal reaction channels discover competitive beatboxing and get them to collab with acapella groups for metal covers, that day will be insane.
Leo moraccioli did Frozen - does that count? ;)
“She’s gonna absolutely lose it when VioLayne comes on…”
28:22 “Oh good, she’s already focused on him!”
28:35 **lost it** 😁
This was absolutely me when I first saw this too. Major "Wait, what? OMG!!!" and pretty sure I laughed out loud in delight.
VioLayne?! I love it!
I think that was all of us the first time we saw that 😃
I’m going to set my alarm as it comes pretty early for me. This is not a genre I listen to. I missed the whole metal thing and it’s just not my personal taste. But I went out to listen to the original and it’s an amazing song.
Then I listened to this and my brain exploded. I never thought that I would ever find some thing to beat Hoist the Colours as my favorite of theirs. But this is it. I am absolutely obsessed with this. I am so looking forward to your analysis.🤯
Thank you, Janet! Would love to have you in the premiere and to share your insights into what does drive you musically! It's always great to understand how I can better bring cross polination to the channel! ❤
@@TheCharismaticVoice I’ll be there. I confess, I’ve always been an extremely casual listener of music. That probably appalls people like you, but that’s the truth. Then a cousin sent me a copy of a Straight No Chaser’s video that I thought was just charming and opened my eyes to a new kind of a cappella. I always associated a capella with barbershop quartets and choirs.
Then YT suggested a VP piece (Grinch) and I was sucked in. They have opened my eyes to so many kinds of music that I just never would normally consider.
That led me to reactor/analysts who could explain why certain songs surprisingly resonated with me. And by listening to the analysis and people like you pointing certain things out, I now listen not necessarily more carefully but I am much more aware. And I get really excited when suddenly I hear something in a song that a reactor has pointed out in another piece and I actually recognized it.
A lot of what you say goes over my head because I have zero musical training. But I always get a lot of information anyway because you do go back and explain it and point out what you’re talking about. It’s one thing for somebody to talk about a chord progression or bell chords if they know what they’re talking about. But for me, you might as well be speaking another language unless you rewind and show what you are talking about. And from that point on I start recognizing those things.
I know this is really long and more than you wanted to hear probably but the Premiere comments are pretty short. But I wanted you to know how much I do get out of your work, especially since you do go back and clarify some things for people like me. Even the most technical reactors usually point out out one thing that I hadn’t been aware of.
I try not to follow the reactors who simply make faces and go “Wow, wasn’t that awesome”. I want to try and learn something because it does increase my enjoyment of the music, even when it’s on a level so much less intensive than the way that people who are really into music hear it.
And I absolutely LOVE your enthusiasm!
@@TheCharismaticVoice thank you for another great reaction & analysis to Voice Play. I think VioLayne & the bass man ground this song. Layne & Geoff are the perfect team & play off of each other extremely well. Geoff & Layne are the masters at arranging. I love how Geoff & Layne are letting Cesar hit the extremely high notes in many of their cover songs now. Cesar is the best thing to ever happen to Voice Play. His expressions are absolutely beautiful. Please do a reaction video of Geoff's new cover song ( Till Then ). It is like a smooth buttery low & deep jazz. Played in a piano lounge setting His wife Kathy is the one who passes the note on top of the piano & leads him away at the end.
@@janetdw I'm so happy you got turned on to music! The number of joyful moments in your future got a nice bump up when that happened! Stay musically open minded and the number will continue to increase.
@@TheCharismaticVoice : Voiceplay should have you again for their new song cover.
I'm listening to Geoff sing Ain't no sunshine! I take back my previous statement, he's incredible and the range?! Incredible
I absolutely love Eli's brilliant tenor rock voice. But the whole cover is brilliant, especially the arrangement. Cheers, Elizabeth.
So excited that you did this one so quickly! VioLayne broke a lot of reactors. This cover contains everything: 5 amazing singers/performers/musicians, an epic arrangement, an amazing audio mixer, and then the violin!!!!
Your giggles are contagious. I had so much fun watching this!
✌️❤️🥕🎻
I just love how excited you get and you are one of the reasons that I watch reactors in the first place. And that is to watch you pick out things that I never noticed the first five or six times I watched this video. Other reactors will say, oh wow that's great, that's wonderful, listen to that bass etc etc, but you point out things that I might not have noticed otherwise. I really appreciate that. I don't mind the pauses because you always have something to react to during those pauses that makes me appreciate the music even more. This is a phenomenal song and I'm not even a Voiceplayer as you obviously are. Great reaction and I thank you! Cheers!
I would LOVE to see Metallica do a Reaction Video to this!!!! This was AWESOME!
I would too!!!
I have now watched this analysis more than a dozen times. I love the original and this cover. Others have tried to analyze it, and don’t come close to Elizabeth’s musical insight. Both the original and this reconstruction are musically magnificent. And ironically, nothing else matters.
Watched this the other day, LOVED it. Then I thought "Elizabeth MUST do this" and here we are. And you DID NOT disappoint. Thanks again for yet another awesome, genuine reaction - love your enthusiasm and you pointed out bits I missed when I listened and now I have even MORE respect for the job VoicePlay did.
Side note, thanks to your gear links I've gotten some new Beyerdynamic headphones that arrived today, and they are SO MUCH better than my previous ones, I can hear things I couldn't previously, I'll have to go back through the catalogue and re-listen. Not your ones as I couldn't afford them, but the DT 990 Pro and a HUGE upgrade from what I had previous. Thanks again
Dude, i would kill, i'd sell my soul to the Devil to have a voice as low as that guy's. Not even to sing, just to be able to talk with that voice. This is buttery smooth voice. It also goes to show the importance of the bass player in any band.
I absolutely love your reaction videos. I always learn something and it leads me to an even greater appreciation for music. When I saw this when VoicePlay dropped it, my first thought was to hope you do a reaction sooner than later. You used the same words I used to describe this - perfection. You absolutely can tell that VoicePlay has nothing but love and respect for the song in how it is arranged and performed. It is phenomenal.
I simply love your facial animation during your reactions. This is my first time taking part in a live chat you by the way are the very first reaction video I have ever watched about a year and a half ago thank you for awakening my lust for music, again, your wisdom and knowledge of voice is amazing and enlightening. Thank you so very much.
Welcome, Claud!
I love that a human voice is able to activate my subwoofer and make my room rumble.
Dude. I’ve seen them live. Ya ever been at a concert and had the bass guitar make your ribs vibrate?
Geoff can do that too. He hit notes that literally shook my spine. He did one thing that started in my ribs, then he slid down and my whole spine shook. You literally listen to him with you bones.
When they start doing shows again, I’m going to be there. If I have to fly across the freakin’ country, I’m going to be there.
@@Gael4ce I saw a female Opera singer who filled the room with sound. I looked for the PA system and microphone 🎤 but they didn't have one then she sang and I felt my Ribs vibrating I was at back of Room but she Shook my body with her voice projection. I am sure people like Pavarotti could do the same in opera houses..
I'd call it Voice2Metal
@@Gael4ce Fun fact: singing those low notes yourself can feel like that even with no amplification :D
Not that I'm anywhere near Geoff's level, but I've hit some B0s on good days, and even if they're quiet, I can feel them through my entire chest. Makes me wonder what purring feels like to a cat :P
(Of course any note should resonate through your chest if you have decent singing technique, but I usually find it harder to feel that, compared to how shockingly palpable low subharmonics are)
Geoff actually destroyed both my front speakers in my car
Geoff's arpeggiated bass lines are a real gem in this arrangement.
And another reactor broken by VioLayne 😂.
I smiled and giggled the whole time cause I knew what was coming in each section of the song. Every reaction has been the same for this one. Surprise, shock and excitement.
I always love your reactions Elizabeth.
After chat a couple days ago they filmed another video. They know they can't top this but still want to sing and make awesome videos anyway.
I absolutely love these guys. Not only for their singing and acting but their personalities. That's why I'm on Voiceplay, Geoff and Pattycake Productions Patreons.
Love ya Elizabeth 💖
These guys are the reason I joined Patreon. I love them too. They seem like dear friends to me though I've never met them. Just good, earnest people deeply committed to excellence in music. And I love Elizabeth's appreciation! From her level of knowledge and skill with music...It brings out even more things in their performances for me.
@@joyfulyes
Me too. My favorite is the behind the scenes. I've learned a lot from them
Don't worry about the stopping. Watching you break down the music and videos in ways I'm not used to looking at them. It opens up more to me. Giving me more to appreciate.
This is easily my favorite song now from VoicePlay. I feel like I just had a luxurious dessert ever time I listen to it.
It’s amazing how good Metallica is, to still be pulling out covers this many years later.
Elizabeth swaying in tune with the music, eyes lightly closed. That's like a connoisseur tasting a great wine, savoring each tiny fleck of flavor developing throughout the whole aroma profile.
The honest emotions showing on her face, her enjoyment, almost rapture of discovering more nuances in each bar of the music. Absolutely wonderful to behold. Then she comes out with the most amazing technical yet still emotional descriptions of what happens that is completely gone on my oblivious, untrained self.
That combination of joy, skill, knowledge, and talent at describing certain aspects is what got me to subscribe to her.
Thank you, Elizabeth. Please keep them coming.
Seriously wondering when this group will peak! They just keep getting better and better and as always I enjoy your wonderfully talented reviews of them!
I love your genuine reactions and pure honesty and knowledge. VoicePlay never fails.
I don’t think any other a cappella group than Voiceplay could have done this song justice, but they really turned this into a masterpiece 🖤❤️
They absolutely did. I'm still in awe they did it!
@@TheCharismaticVoice I have to admit that I'm both in awe and absolutely hyped that they did it!
@@TheCharismaticVoice i nearly fell off my seat with the 2 high notes from eli and ceaser abd with the violin getting burned into my soul. reminds me of my celtic roots as a child singing songs at kayleighs and staying up all night sing and dancing, just shredding on songs and strings.
man i think voice play has broken my adhd brain haha. wont deny, im curious what your husband would think of this rendition of the song.
@@TheCharismaticVoice please please please, you must do a reaction video of Voice Plays cover ..In My Room... It is their latest cover. So smooth & beautiful. Geoff Holds the group together like glue with his bass throughput. ❤️ I always love your reactions / analysis.
@@zamorvex Glad to hear that this reminds you of your Celtic singing background. Singing live together really makes lasting memories. It's one of the things we were designed to do!
The enjoyment expressed just increases my absolute fascination with this extremely all-encompassing , absolutely wonderful rendition of one of the most brilliant rock-songs ever produced... Thank you !!!
You don't always jump on things immediately, but I figured that Metallica would get you! I am too old to have been listening to metal, but after I watched this one, I went back and listened to the original. it's wonderful, but..... Voiceplay does it for me every time.
Love the Geoff giggles every time, but the Voiceplay giggles are just as fun!! Love your reactions, Elizabeth!
You are wrong. There is no such thing as to old for metal. Just start exploring.
Metal has been around (in it's primitive form) since the late 1960s.
Great analysis. I really like your attention to detail. Thank you for pointing out the BGV’s and that line of Cesar’s. He sounds so wistful and vulnerable.
I just listened yet again to their karaoke track and he really shines there. Not as showy as a lead line or his bubbly personality, but so important. Besides the fun of the BTS footage, the karaoke track is one of my favorite perks. Without being distracted by the lead (and sometimes the shenanigans), I can concentrate on what is going on in the background. When I listen to the whole piece again, I can more clearly appreciate the piece as a whole.
I don’t process information auditorily very well. No matter how hard I listen, some things escape me. It made school a lot harder and I think it may be why I have only been a casual listener of music. It takes a lot of repetition without distractions to pick up on things that you and others just seem to know. But listening to reactors helps as they point things out that I don’t always hear on my own. (And things like the karaoke tracks really help as well).
I was sooo hoping for you to get to this one, since you've already delved into some Metallica, and knowing that Voice Play is one of your favorite a capella groups. Can hardly wait for the full unpacking of it.
I believe I have watched this analysis more than a dozen times now. Both because this piece is so good and because Elizabeth’s facial expressions (and words) tell the story of how good this one is.
I JUST NOTICED THE CARROT!
I love your excitement and just pure joy when you experience beautiful music. Thanks for your analysis.
Yay, you saw it too!
I absolutely loved this arrangement! I can't wait to hear all your giggles about it, they make my day! 😊😊
Respect Elizabeth 💯 for this fast Reaction 💯
Edit : A look at the preview : Elizabeth reaches the next level of Nerd n' Giggle? YES! 😁👍
Couldn't miss Elizabeth's analysis on this fire piece from VoicePlay for sure!
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this when it came out - but watching with Elizabeth takes the joy to a new height - thank you
Your absolute delight in the music and the details, mixed with the technicality of your observations is always amazing. Never fails to brighten my day.
Half the fun for me watching these is elizabeth's genuine excitement, facial expressions and laughing, its very much larger than life and contagious
Her being absolutely gorgeous doesn’t hurt either!
The giggle shiver with Geoff's first super low note...😂 Thats what makes TCV so much fun
I was greatly anticipating your reaction to the surprise violin, because my reaction was much the same - Shock, then laughter, then just giddiness throughout the whole solo. So epic.
i love watching these. her expertise, coupled with infectious enthusiasm, makes for an enthralling and enlightening experience. it is truly fun, inspiring, and entertaining to watch.
I wasn't disappointed , this reaction was spot on!!! I always believed that I was strange because music for me is so very emotional. It is an integral part of my life I am always listening to something. Then I found you and how music moves you as well. I know I've said this before but thank you for what you do. You make this strange and eclectic music geek feel like I actually belong. I love your reactions you have introduced me to a lot of music I didn't previously know about. Also excited to see what is coming next on the singing hole, I loved Will's narration about the bats his ADHD and mine went well together lol. Have a great day!
Honestly just watching your reaction gives me so much joy and happiness! I love how you express yourself, how honestly you enjoy every second and I just adore your little giggles, it makes me smile every time I hear them. Thank you so much for your reactions, they are not only amusivg and hearthwarming, but also very informative.
This one has broken everyone who has watched this. Then vioLayne showed up and it broke us all over again. I cried with the original, and I cried with the cover. Amazing. Loved the reaction.
So the "burping frog" noise is Geoff saying Wow in a sub harmonic and an insane amount of distortion on it. Yeah no one ever expects VioLayne, hence why he is the hero we all need. Love your reactions! I'm not a huge Metallica fan because I feel like their songs sound very similar and just go on for ever but, of course, when I saw Voiceplay covered one of Metallica's songs I knew I had to watch it.
oooooooohhhhh I have been waiting very excitedly for this reaction omg I can't wait to see how broken this one makes you!!!!

Elizabeth, watching you do these critiques invariably makes me happy. I find my attitude lifting no matter what my mood, and my smile always ends up turning into giggles, chuckles, and sometimes outright laughter. Thank you!!!!
Yes! I love music, and your explanations help me understand WHY I love music. The only other person that I've heard that puts their finger on this is Rick Beato. I wish you two could get together for an interview. Your conversation would be one for the ages.
I just need to express how much I adore you, your channel, everything that you do. You never fail to put a smile on my face and you are a shining ray of light and hope in an increasingly bleak and stressful world. Thank you for being a safe, peaceful place that I and many others can escape to.
This was absolutely phenomenal. Geoffs arrangement was spot on. Layne made EVERYONE cry with that solo.
I can't believe that I missed this last week. After my first few listens to this I knew that I needed to see Elizabeth's reaction to it (especially at the voilin) and I was not disappointed. Thank you for this, the sheer joy on your face reacting was exactly what I needed.
I've been waiting for this reaction since the song came out. I knew you wouldn't be able to resist. Great information as usual. I occasionally get accused (by my kids) of being the biggest voice play fan girl. But that crown definitely belongs to Elizabeth. Love hearing the joy and excitement in her voice.
Knowing VioLayne was showing up, I couldn't wait for your reaction to it and it didn't disappoint!
VP is absolutely the best. They keep getting better and better. Thank you for introducing me to this band about 1.5 years ago.
Your enthusiasm and pure joy listening to them is so beautiful to watch 🥹
I loved her comment about the “person feeling the song along with them” or something like that. THAT’S why I love these reactions so much! I think it’s a blessing to be able to feel music and experience so much pure joy when listening. I feel sorry for anyone who has never been brought to tears by music they love!

Yes. This.
I love how excited you get about the details, Elizabeth. In drawing my attention to them, you give me more from the music than I would get without you.
I now recommend Apocalyptica where you can hear 4 cellos "sing" this song. This is also what you hear in Wednesday, Ep3. ;-)
I cant wait. I love any type of covers for nothing else matters. This song is known universally all over the world. You can play it at any concert and the crowd always sings along.....AND NOTHING ELSE MATTERS. Shakira did her little rendition of it and the crowd already knew. Lol.
Thank you for making me discover this truly amazing vocal band and this gorgeous cover of a song I love.
Good grief Elizabeth, it's only 1/2 way through January & y'all are absolutely crushing it with your choices of songs to annalise! Good job! 👍👴🇺🇸🦅
Yaaaaay!! That smile says it ALL - can't wait to watch :D
And there's the reaction! Some just understand the musicality and the passion behind music, and watching your reactions Elizabeth, simply beautiful to watch as the song unfurls!
Infectious joy, thank you for what you do!
It is so cool to witness this kind of emotional reaction! Half an hour well spent. This just turns you on to appreciate all the cool stuff that is happening in the music. I was really drawn into this kind of genre (reaction videos) by another channel RnB Singing Lessons. And I think your reactions like this one show that you are one of the best on UA-cam!
This was lit and really inspiring. Not to mention one of the best a'capella performances I've ever heard
So happy you’re going to analyze this. I will have troubled sleep waiting for it. VP just doesn’t disappoint, it after your analysis of the original… I even wonder if Geoff was watching that.
Thanks Elizabeth for the generous analysis as always. Seeing your passion and even giddiness for a cappella is just wonderful, and of course seeing you reaction to Geoff’s low notes that get you every time.
This song did have amazing build, and the violin was a big surprise but totally rad!
PREACH! I admit I've never heard the original, but I feel like it would be apples and oranges at this point. just watching you get all giggly and melt into goo said it all. Elizabeth, you are a delight to watch as always.
my thoughts:
~Layne got to do all the things in this one: percussion, singing, and violin. it's great to hear him climbing out of the beatbox now and then.
~that one line of Cesar's. ***melt*** there's such a tender raw vulnerability in that. somehow, with that one line, he floored me like no one else in that song did. I just want to nuzzle him.
~Geoff got me good with those depth charges of his. and the addition of the camera wobble lent it a feeling of epicness. sick how he makes it feel effortless. that man is not fair.
~it was so great to see & hear J again! he lent such a unique flavor to the piece that would not have been had any other person been in his place. come back, J! come back! we need youuuuu!
which leaves us with...
~Eli. oh Eli, dear Eli. this must have been a dream come true. although to be honest, I was expecting to hear a lot more of his iconic rock tenor in this. still, as you say, he slayed it. he slayed it forever. mad, mad respect.
Thats kind of odd to say, “I have never heard the original, but I feel like it would be apples and oranges…” How can you say that without having the original to compare to
It's actually nuts how great and complex this arrangement is. There is so much going on, different rythms, rising together or against each other, sounds here and there, the freakin violin, the flowing ratio between sung backgrounds and instrumental backgrounds and SO MUCH MORE. There is so much going on and weaving perfectly together. I absolutely LOVE their cover of this song.
That was fantastic, Great reaction. Perplexing see A cappella of this song.
I love your expressions, Elizabeth and how you demostrate your passion on music. You make me cry for emotion and happiness in your videos.
Love this arrangement! Thank you for your reaction!
Your joy is so infectious! Thanks for sharing your awesome insights, always so good to hear from you what I missed when I listened to the tune!
Those bass runs & trills, wow! Great reaction to an amazing video! 💖
Wow! Wow!!! Wow!!!! I love your breakdown on this song. I remember when the original came out, and I am not a big metal fan, but I find a few songs in each and every genre the just rattle your soul. The original was that for me in metal. But then to hear VoicePlay do it in a'cappella... and to take you on the emotional roller coaster this song is and to go even further. Welp, they just rattled my soul. I am a happy man. Great analysis, too! Wow!!!!!!
@-ELISABETH_OFFICIAL- wow! Really? What do I need to do?
Yay!!! I was hoping you were going to review this one!!! So far every other reaction I’ve seen the reactor broke and couldn’t speak!!
Not going to lie, I did too.
@@TheCharismaticVoice you did much better than most I’ve watched but I knew once vio-Layne came out you would malfunction and you would just about get there and stop and go back then just about get there and stop and go back I was like .. this suspense is killing me!!!
Elizabeth is awesome at analyzing voices!
She could not do what she does and be so confident saying what she says unless she was absolutely correct with her analysis.
Its on video for all the critics to chime in, and I don't see anyone refuting her voice analysis.
We ALL learn from Elizabeth going through the range of videos from various artists.
BRAVO Elizabeth !!
ELIZABETH!!!! VoicePlay has dropped TWO songs since Nothing Else Matters. Golden Hour and Valhalla Calling - which is the sequel to My Mother Told Me. Golden Hour is fun and the vocals are mind blowing. Valhalla Calling is EPIC and JNone is back with a surprise and you will love how Cesar ups his game too. I SO want to see your face when so many good bits come all at once.
I have watched a whole load of different vocal react channels, but as great as some of them are, not a single one comes anywhere close to expressing the pure joy and genuine emotion the Elizabeth shows and that REALLY comes through in this video. This is simply one of my favourite videos I have ever had the pleasure of watching.
This was amazing wow! Thank you again Elizabeth for making music happen ❤! See you Friday!
The best part of a VoicePlay reaction is the inevitable moment when Geoff's low register drop makes you bubble with laughter. Does it to me every time too:-)
