As Elizabeth was talking about taking organ lessons because she wanted to make the room shake I suddenly understood why she has come to love rock & metal so much. Same goals! What you were saying about understanding and bringing the subtext of a song. How I've explained that to people before is the big difference betweeen singing/playing a song and performing the song. ❤
If you noticed, the color of the smoke coincided with who had the book and was 'casting'. At one point, Eli was going nuts casting fireworks and Rachel reclaimed the book. When QoFyReacts thought he noticed a shift from major to minor, it coincided to when Rachel started 'uncasting' Eli's spell and his green smoke was collapsing back into the fire. Thank you for another awesome reaction & analysis...was waiting for this one!!
AaaaAAAA yes yes yes!!! I've been watching the Voiceplay video obsessively the last few days since it posted, and I've been so eagerly awaiting this video!! I just knew it was going to be a deep dive into Rachel Potter's vocals; she does some absolutely amazing things here! As for what you're referring to as a "digitized run," from a production standpoint, what I'm hearing is an entirely natural run with a progressive heavy spatial element being phased in overtop of it. All the original notes are absolutely there and audible underneath, just with a lot more breadth stacking onto it that's generating a harmonic! No idea if I'm even close to correct, just what I'm hearing. Absolutely beautiful production work no matter what!
lol. Bingo Charismatic Voice. VoicePlay IS Hall of the Mountain King on crack!!! Absolutely loved it and your comments on it. Thank you. It was wonderful!!
Making the room shake when playing an organ is an awesome feeling. I got a chance to play the organ at the Sydney Town Hall back around '80 (J. S. Bach's _Toccata and Fugue in B Minor,_ of course) - it's one of only 2 organs ever made with a true 64' pipe (contra-trombone, I believe), and it manages to shake a 200-year-old solid stone building very effectively. And yes, I giggled for about 5 minutes after trying it out while warming up.
This reminds me of albums I had as a teen, and happy to discover on YT -- Hooked on Classics. Did you notice that the fire and smoke changed color to match which character was "casting"? Blue for Geoff, green for Eli, etc. Layne added an extra bit of magic for himself as the Carrot Lord, putting a touch of green above his orange smoke. So cool!
I love Voiceplay and Rachel Potter but I watch and listen while smiling and bobbing my head. Then Elizabeth gives us the narration that explains how intricate and complicated it was to blend the pieces together. Well done…enjoyed every giggle.
I was so happy, when I found the original video for this enyojable chaos, and waited for and felt exited for your analisis on it. :) The hall of the mountain king was their first song I lisstened from VoicePlay and still is a favourite of mine, even with all the capability of my "sticks-for-ears"... XD
Did anyone else notice that "The Last Page" didn't say "Do not lose", it said "Do not loose" - as in "do not set free the being entrapped in the last page"! Who was summoned - set free - by the spell's beginning .. and *remained* at the end?
Having Rachel in her "almost operatic" voice plus the fun dub step beats brings me back to one of their oldest videos with Rachel (plus Tony and Earl!), Phantom of the Opera.
I wanna point out just how amazing the colours are between Elizabeths hair and the purples in the background in this vid? It's such a happy, vibrant scheme, and it fits in perfectly with just how colourful the voiceplay video is. Eye and ear candy, everything is just so perfect, omnomnom! :)
Ruh Roh! E has her Tiefling horns on...Epic-ness must follow! 🤔😈😈 Mwah-hahahaha! Outstanding selection of tunes ... in a Medley?! Sure, it's Voiceplay, why not? My day was a 5.8 on the Monday scale...this soothed things right out! #ClassicalJams #TieflingsForTheWin!
I'm pretty sure that when Cesar "steals" the voices, the deep voice is Layne, and the higher part is Rachel. This is shaping up to be quite the epic trilogy. Maybe they can include Ashley Diane in part 3? Heck, do an "episode" with each of their usual guests. I'm ready for the Voiceplay Grundle Cinematic Universe (VPGCU). 😂
Thank you! I'm so glad you reacted to this newest amazing VP production! While there are lots of people reacting to VP's covers now, very few are actually giving knowledgeable assessments, so what's the point? Can they truly appreciate the genius of VP?! Doubtful.
Thank you for another wonderful and educational analysis. I have learned even more about this piece. I love Rachel's interactions with everybody. Now I need to watch your interview with Layne on this one.
I love how the colors of the fire show who is casting the spell: blue=Geoff, red=Cesar, green=Eli, carrot=Layne. Then at the end, she uses all of their powers combined for her final big spell.
@TheCharismaticVoice You asked how Layne was going to incorporate Vocal Percussion into Classical Music. It sounded to me like he lowered the octave and deepened the timbre of his Vocal Instrument to, mostly, emulate Wood Blocks and Timpani so it sounded more appropriate to an Orchestral Composition. You'll also notice that when does bring the Snare and "Drum Kit," it is, in fact, at a deeper timbre to the standard Snare sound. Basically, it sounds, to me, like he lowered and deepened his entire "kit" to bring a more organic richness to the sound that would better fit with Classical Music, then brought the full, brighter Snare back at the end when he dropped that Trap Beat. I love that Layne used his intimate knowledge of Orchestral Instrumentation to arrange this masterpiece! Sheer Genius! Also, how good does Layne sound when he's actually singing?! He has such a GREAT voice! Also also, I love that they used the "Wilhelm Scream" for when Rachel slams the book closed on Eli's finger. I do have to wonder if they used the actual "Wilhelm Scream" for that or if Eli actually screamed there. Because if that was actually Eli faithfully reproducing the "Wilhelm Scream," holy crap. Also also also, the Cesar part, if you pay close attention, is Cesar pulling an "Ursula" and stealing Rachel's voice. My assumption here is that the voice we're actually hearing sing at that part isn't Cesar, but Rachel, and Cesar is just mouthing over the recording. Anyway, I loved your reaction to this! As always, you bring a joy and light to every reaction. Also, you have the best smile on the Internet!
Yes, Cesar stole Geoff’s voice then Rachel’s. The deep part was actually sang by Layne and the high was Rachel’s voice but with an effect added to make it sound a little different.
If anyone's still looking for it, I found the hidden carrot. 16:50 A small plume of green smoke appears over the orange smoke from the bonfire just Layne hands the book back over to Rachel. There''s a second, more obvious hidden carrot in Layne's costume itself since her horns are a vibrant shade of green in this video, but they were originally orange during the In the Hall of the Mountain King video.
And Elizabeth is correct that it also does make a brief appearance in Fantasmic!, the stage show in the Disney parks, as the villains all work together to trap Mickey in the magic mirror.
Plenty of VoicePlay in this suggestion: Red Handed Denial - “Father Said” (Lauren Babic live one take performance) Recentish version of Lauren who can sing beautifully and scream with the best of them.
Loved the whole video but 14:40 about wanting the play an organ to make the room shack and then Elizabeth geeking out going "thunder" made me laugh hard.
The famous tune you almost recognized was Edvard Grieg Dovregubbens hall. Written for Henrik Ibsen play. The sounds of Norwegian Troll...Worth a listen...

I think Ashley Diane does a similar descending run in "We Don't Talk About Bruno." Crazy vocal agility on both of these two women.
Amazing vocals. It reminded me of a disco version of this from the 70s called Hooked on Classics.
I didn't buy a lot of 45s, but I bought that one and darned near wore the grooves off! 🙂
I had Hooked On Classics volumes 1, 2, and 3 as a teen. Still play the albums on YT. There are many more editions now.
'Hooked on Swing' was another that I listened to a lot.
I was so happy, when I found the original video for this enyojable chaos, and waited for and felt exited for your analisis on it. :) The hall of the mountain king was their first song I lisstened from VoicePlay and still is a favourite of mine, even with all the capability of my "sticks-for-ears"... XD
I'm so excited for this!!!!!!!
Elizabeth I think Layne is killing it I know they are all having fun ,the horns look great .
I saw this last night and LOVED it! And A Night on Bald Mountain is used in both Fantasia and Fantasmic!
I wonder when someone asks them "so what did you do today?" How do they explain it?
When the start Geoff bass starts, I always think of the THX logo in theaters...🤣🤣
VoicePlay is amazing, and you look marvelous in those horns!!!!!!
Did anyone else notice that "The Last Page" didn't say "Do not lose", it said "Do not loose" - as in "do not set free the being entrapped in the last page"! Who was summoned - set free - by the spell's beginning .. and *remained* at the end?
WHAT SHE PLAYS D&D WE HAVE A NOMINATION FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!
Haha, I don't want it.
Not the hero we want, the hero we need! (I _really_ don't blame you!)
Been waiting for this… 😆😆
This will be good!
Having Rachel in her "almost operatic" voice plus the fun dub step beats brings me back to one of their oldest videos with Rachel (plus Tony and Earl!), Phantom of the Opera.
Nice Wilhelm scream at 17:04 🙂
I wanna point out just how amazing the colours are between Elizabeths hair and the purples in the background in this vid? It's such a happy, vibrant scheme, and it fits in perfectly with just how colourful the voiceplay video is. Eye and ear candy, everything is just so perfect, omnomnom! :)
Ruh Roh! E has her Tiefling horns on...Epic-ness must follow! 🤔😈😈 Mwah-hahahaha! Outstanding selection of tunes ... in a Medley?! Sure, it's Voiceplay, why not? My day was a 5.8 on the Monday scale...this soothed things right out! #ClassicalJams #TieflingsForTheWin!
I looove your enthusiasm 😍
I first saw Rachel in her audition on X-Factor US singing a queen song in a country style. Been a fan of her since.
I love how sassy cesar is even when hes a little silly forest gremlin 🤣💅💜
I'm pretty sure that when Cesar "steals" the voices, the deep voice is Layne, and the higher part is Rachel.
This is shaping up to be quite the epic trilogy. Maybe they can include Ashley Diane in part 3? Heck, do an "episode" with each of their usual guests. I'm ready for the Voiceplay Grundle Cinematic Universe (VPGCU). 😂
Thank you for talking about Lane's brilliance!
Thank you! I'm so glad you reacted to this newest amazing VP production! While there are lots of people reacting to VP's covers now, very few are actually giving knowledgeable assessments, so what's the point? Can they truly appreciate the genius of VP?! Doubtful.
Have you seen Sir Hairless? He’s one of my favorites for actual knowledge in his analysis.
Thank you for another wonderful and educational analysis. I have learned even more about this piece. I love Rachel's interactions with everybody. Now I need to watch your interview with Layne on this one.
I love Geoff's face after Caeser's deep 'duh's. Man is like "God damn, I've been one upped..."😂
I love how the colors of the fire show who is casting the spell: blue=Geoff, red=Cesar, green=Eli, carrot=Layne. Then at the end, she uses all of their powers combined for her final big spell.
@TheCharismaticVoice
You asked how Layne was going to incorporate Vocal Percussion into Classical Music.
A Night On Bald Mountain is also in Fantasia. It used in contrast to Ave Maria when Chernabog awakens....
And Elizabeth is correct that it also does make a brief appearance in Fantasmic!, the stage show in the Disney parks, as the villains all work together to trap Mickey in the magic mirror.
THX for presenting this to us and do the breakdown.
QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE
Plenty of VoicePlay in this suggestion: Red Handed Denial - “Father Said” (Lauren Babic live one take performance) Recentish version of Lauren who can sing beautifully and scream with the best of them.
Loved the whole video but 14:40 about wanting the play an organ to make the room shack and then Elizabeth geeking out going "thunder" made me laugh hard.
The famous tune you almost recognized was Edvard Grieg Dovregubbens hall. Written for Henrik Ibsen play. The sounds of Norwegian Troll...Worth a listen...
I love this video and song. It reminds me of "Hooked on Classics from the 80s!!"
As usual your feelings and energy top all others I love watching you reacting your a beautiful person I'm a fan always have been thank you
