  • Palo Duro Canyon State Park is the second largest canyon in the United States behind the Grand Canyon and is also known as the Grand Canyon of Texas! Located near Amarillo in the Texas Panhandle, it features dozens of trails for hiking, biking, mountain biking and horse riding and has multiple tent and RV campgrounds - it even has a campground to bring your own horses! Some of the more popular hiking trails in the park are the Lighthouse trail, the CCC trail and the Rock Garden trail. There are also other cool spots to check out such as the Big Cave and an old cowboy dugout.
    Special thanks to our good friend Dr. Sean Curry of Evanston Family Chiropractic for his kitchen space, love of spice, hot sauce and his undying commitment to make Greyhound look silly eating crickets. You're a pro bro.

    I think someone was pranking you about the crickets. I was born and raised here. I've spent 40+ years exploring and hiking PDC. Eating crickets had never been a thing here. Good video.

      I know! We joke with friends that you all need the water that has been flooding our basement and we need some of your draught. And this is the canyon I was telling you about the MTB. It looks like so much fun! We remembered to use our Relive this trip too 😁

      It was amazing. We are bad at night filming, so no good footage haha, but yes, being at the campground in the canyon looking up before bed, was simply magical. We loved stargazing in Big Bend too. West Texas is bucketlist for stargazing.

    The lighthouse rock formation is stunning and unique. I have seen this kind of rock formations only in Arches NP. I can visualize how big the lighthouse is by comparing the person walking along the ridge! It’s aptly named as the GC of Texas! Texas has some cool state parks like this it seems! Nice explore! Great video 👍👍👍

    What a gem! Such a great trail from your campsite to the lighthouse! Beautiful scenery! Good thing you kept Zeus back at the camper, those flies would be bothersome. Cricket treats 🤪 Great video 👍🏼👍🏼 How much research do you do before embark on a trip?

    • @MagellanandGreyhound
      @MagellanandGreyhound  2 роки тому +2

      Thanks! Zeus was very happy not hiking with us sometimes. 😂 If we go on a trip and do 10 things, we have probably researched at least twice that and never do half. Best things to do, openings/closures, lodging, reservations, restaurants, breweries, etc. For state park/national park/attractions, we read every park webpage, watch videos, articles. For this trip I would estimate at least over 40-50 hours, and all ahead of time. I booked our campground stuff for the Grand Canyon last November? Even just last night, we discussed what we want to do for next year - Yosemite, Zion, Glacier, Arches, Yellowstone? Still TBD LOL. We will do short impromptu trips in the northeast, but we rarely ever do a long trip that is not in advance - unless an airline forces us to use our tickets 😂😂😂
